Summer SORASing at Y&R! Fenmore and Summer to become Teens!

Here we go again, ladies and gentlemen! It’s time for another major jump in time for those loveable kids on the soaps.  In an attempt to beef up their upcoming summer storylines, The Young and the Restless has put out casting calls to SORAS both Phyllis and Nick’s little girl, Summer and Lauren and Michael’s son, Fen!

Courtesy/IMDB

Here is what we know via Soap Opera Digest, “The show is seeking 18-year-olds to play 15/16-year-olds for both roles. Summer is described as a fun, feisty typical teen; Fen will be returning from boarding school and “adjustment will be an issue.”

Most recently Samantha Bailey and Robbie Tucker have been the child stars to play Summer and Fen.

So, since the show is going down this road, any casting recommendations you might want to suggest for who could play the teen Summer and Fenmore? Also, what do you think of the move to age the kids? Good for story? Bad idea? Let us know!

Why is it that every kid that grows up in the Baldwin clan has adjustment issues. Eden was a mess when she joined the family too. Also, now Summer is going to be quite close in age to Noah. Also, shouldn’t Noah be a bit older than both Abby and the incoming Kyle.

noah is coming back as a college graduate – i think the actor is already taping scenes………

To my knowledge Noah is off the canvas . Because Joshua Morrow looks young I am not sure he is even 40 this is stupid leave well enough alone they have too many people on this show. And MAB please give Eric Braeden & Stephen Nichols new toupee’s they look awful!!!

I just checked Joshua Morrow is only 38! MAB is nuts and ruining this show! I will add this Jess Walton leaving for six months to be with a new grandbaby I am not buying it for one minute. It makes me ill what MAB has done she can’t write for grownups much less children.

jess walton posted on her face book page that she wanted time off for the birth of her new grand child – is that all a lie???

Jess Walton is certainly old enough to be a grandmother. I am not sure what your point is here other than that you may think she is too young. She is probably near 60

i know that jess is about 60 but you wrote ” i am not buying it for one minuet” did you mean that you don’t believe the reason for her 6 month leave is to be with her new grand baby? “

nope that was not me that wrote “i am not buying it for one minute” that was not me and i don’t see the post now.

I vote for Mick Hazen for Fenn!

Hey i checked him out on google, he has soap experience (ATWT) and looks exactly like the previous actor. If he hears of this casting call i completely see him winning the role.

Mick would be PERFECTION. I’ve missed him so much since ATWT.

He’s a very good actor, winning back-to-back Young Actors Awards in his category -for those who don’t remember him, he played Carly’s (Maura West) and Jack’s (Michael Parks) son on As The World Turns.

Y’all are SO right-he would be perfect!

If he talks to Maura, he won’t even try out. They use you for a couple of months and write you into a corner. He would be better off looking for prime-time or movie work. I agree he is good, but Y&R tends to use up known actors and spit them out…after they are done with you. They would be better off with an unknown…or rather the actor would be better off just getting some experience and moving on (if he isn’t written off first.)

How long B4 Faith is aged?

Why is this necessary? They don’t know what to do with Daniel, Eden, Noah, etc. Why add more to the mix?

Hasn’t Faith already been slightly aged?

Yes, Faith has totally been aged. Funny-one day she was her original self, then she was aged (a different actress-the current one) then I swear, there was a courtroom scene with Sharon & it was the original baby Faith for just that day! Did anyone else notice this? Then it was back to bigger older (current) Faith. Just wait, in a few months Lucy will be 8 or 9 & so will baby Jack, Moses too. If there is anything I hate about soaps it is the unnecessary aging of the kids. I think the babies are definitely cuter than the “kids” & can provide just as much story.

They aged Faith right after the Christmas pageant last year.
@ Gloria yes I do remember that.

They have been “aging” kids forever on the show.
Nick and Victoria are older than they should be.

Kyle Jenkins Abbott and Abby Carlton should actually be the same age.
I don’t know if anyone remembers back when Victor had a frozen sperm sample and Diane wanted it for herself (I think she was still married to Victor but he was going to divorce her)…anyway Ashely wound up with it …she always wanted to have Victors child since she had aborted his baby many years before.

I guess TPTB need to keep fresh storylines..hence SORAS.
I mean how many times can Niki and Victor, Nick and Sharon get back together. OY VEY !!

I meant, how long before Faith is aged to a teenager?

I guess Reed will stay a kid because he’s off screen mainly.

if this keeps up little moses & baby john abbott will be in pre-school by fall……………..

I guarantee Moses will be running around in a couple of months. They might keep baby John a baby a little longer to play out the whole ‘Victoria finally got her baby but will the birth mom take it back’ business.

If Victor and Adam keep going at Chelsea she is gonna take that baby back. I think I read somewhere that she may not be the child of Billy.

I would have like to see them grow up, but when are they going to to find out Summer is Jacks lil girl ?

Yeah. You just know they are going to go down that road some day. I mean Nick was the only one to see the DNA results.

and didn’t he have that plane accident and suffer amnesia after that? Does he even remember who summer belongs to?

THIS IS SO BAD IT’S NOT FUNNY!!

Maria Arena Bell, you have trashed your father-in-law’s legacy!!!

And apparently William J. Bell’s son (Maria’s husband) doesn’t care.

REALLY! Totally agree.

I don’t know how they can pass off making Summer and Fen TEENS when Jack Abbott is supposedly only 46 and Genevieve Atkinson is supposedly only 33! Ha! Ha! Did anyone catch those ages on the marriage license this past week? What a joke!

That’s as bad as when there was that TV movie Sony had with Heather Locklear called “Flirting with 40.” It was more like 50. They must think we are stupid.

Christine, It’s funny that you mention Genevieve’s age. That just reminds me of when Cane came to town posing as a Chancellor. If you do the math, Cane should be roughly the same age as Phillip II, who is in his late 40’s. That is one reason the Cane/Lily pairing creeps me out so much.

what does S O R A S stand for?

Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome – SORAS

I could be wrong but i think it stands for Soap Opera Rapidly Ageing Syndrom sorry about my spelling errors.

Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome

I looked it up one day, something like Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome, so effing stupid & needless in most cases.

You know, when summer comes around in the UK, British soap writers still focus on adults and it’s actually quite successful. The US could take a lesson from this since I for one really have no desire to watch a bunch of teens be horny on my screen (which why I don’t watch B&B).

Also, how many times did Robbie Tucker actually appear as Fen? Like twice or something? Maybe three times.

That’s a great point, David. It isn’t like when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s.

The teens today are not watching the soaps. They are texting and going to the mall and things like that, or I suppose. My boys are just babies right now so I have NO idea what teens are doing, but they aren’t watching soaps – that I DO know.

Great points David.

ENOUGH already, Y&R. Stop rapidly aging the characters. Audiences are smarter that this b.s.

it is what it is – all soaps do it…………

I don’t think I said otherwise.

I beleive Jess Walton wants time off with the grandbaby but 6 months seems like a long time I guess I am trying to figure out why they have not written more of her character with Katherine etc though I do think Jeanne Cooper is a lot more frail then we realize I just miss my favorites and I think this aging of kids is a bit much all new faces with no acting experience.

Eddie Alderson (ex Matthew, OLTL) would be a really smart choice! Austin Williams has a lot of talent but he is just 15. (Imagine the idea of a 15 year old playing a 15 year old… crazy!) Then there is another OLTL guy… Andrew Trischitta. Maybe Dylan Patton who was Will Horton before Chandler. Drew Garrett (ex Chad GH) might be a little too old but could be an option. I agree in liking the idea of Mick Hazen too.

They want 18 year olds so they don’t have to worry about laws regarding minors and minors would have to go to school. Don’t blame them.

Who is going to raise these kids. There sorry parents never had the time when they were suppose to be young.

Delia has already been aged. I hope they let her stay a little kid for a while. Billy is so cute with her!

I think its great to bring them in as teens

so Kyle as 10 last august when he lost his mom and he’s how old today? old enough to get in bars? old enough for eden?

(INTERVIEW) B&B’s Scott Clifton Chats On His Lead Actor Emmy-Nominated Scenes, Reluctance to Submit for Several Years, and the Honor to be Named with His Co-Stars

The Bold and the Beautiful received 12 Daytime Emmy nominations for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards tied with The Young and the Restless for the most of any show. Of those 12 nods, 7 were acting nominations for its cast. One of the names who made the Lead Actor race was a very familiar face to Emmy voters, and a three-time winner, Scott Clifton (Liam).

For the first-time in the shows 37-year history, three leading actors from the soap made the grade and find themselves up against each other on Emmy night: Clifton, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge) and John McCook (Eric). While Kaye won the 2023 gold statuette in the category and McCook won in 2022, the last time Clifton won in this category was 2017.

Scott also holds the Daytime Emmy record for the only actor to win in all three acting categories: ‘Younger’ in 2011, ‘Supporting’ in 2013 and then the aforementioned ‘Lead’ category. This year, also marks Clifton’s 10th Daytime Emmy nomination, having also picked up nods early in his career for his work as Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Schuyler Joplin on One Life to Live.

On Friday, April 26th, The Bold and the Beautiful held an on set celebration to honor this year’s nominated cast, crew and creatives. When B&B executive producer and head writer, Brad Bell introduced Scott Clifton, as one of the three actors from the series being recognized at Emmy time, Clifton addressed those in attendance.

Scott expressed, “I’m grateful to you, Brad Bell, and this family you created. I know at the end of my life, I’m not going to remember winning Emmys. I’m going to remember that I was nominated alongside John McCook and Thorsten Kaye. That’s what I’m going to remember, and that’s still blowing my mind, on the shoulders of giants doesn’t do it justice. So thank you, for that one.”

Following the acknowledgements, Michael Fairman TV caught up with Scott to gain some insight into what scenes he submitted on his Emmy reel, how he feels being back in the Emmy competition an, and more. Here’s what he shared below.

What scenes did you submit that landed you this Lead Actor nomination?

SCOTT: When Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam come back home from Rome. It’s just two episodes in a row. That’s all it was, which was new for me. I’ve never really submitted a reel like that. But, it’s where Liam confronts Hope about kissing Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). It’s a side of Liam I don’t think, at least any Emmy voters have seen before where he’s just an asshole. Of course, he’s hurt and he is angry and he feels betrayed. But, he is sort of toying with Hope, almost. And then it turns into this somewhat cruel interrogation scene. Annika was incredible. It wouldn’t have worked without her performance.

Photo: JPI

It was the scene where Liam is pushing Hope to admit she kissed Thomas, going “C’mon, say it, Hope! Say it with me?”

SCOTT: Correct. Liam’s going, “I want you to say it. You say it.” That’s somewhat in the middle of the reel, and there was just sort of this lead up to that. It ends with Hope kind of pleading and begging to Liam, saying, “I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me. I still love you.” Liam’s still emotional, but he is saying, “I don’t know how that could be true.” That’s just kind of where it ends. I hadn’t planned on submitting anything. It wasn’t like I was submitting because I thought I had a good year going,”Now, which scenes do I find?” I had multiple people here that I trust, Eva Basler (VP Communications and Talent Relations, B&B) and Rachel Herman (Associate Producer, B&B), come up to me and say, “Just submit those scenes, please.”, I said, “okay.” And I did, and then this happened, which blew me away.

Did you think that, perhaps, would never receive a nomination again in your role as Liam?

SCOTT: I kind of thought the whole ‘Emmy nominations’ were over for me. They gave me three already.

Photo: NATAS

And, you hold the record for the only actor win in the Younger, Supporting and Lead categories.

SCOTT: I know, and now one of those categories doesn’t exist anymore, and that’s a bummer. And then, after that third one, I didn’t get nominated for like five years or something like that.

But in those five years, did you still submit yourself, though?

SCOTT: I fought hard not to because I wanted to give everybody a break and disappear for a while. And that comes from a place of like support and encouragement, but the show really wanted me to submit every year, even when I didn’t feel like I had anything. My argument was, this is a mistake. Emmy voter time is valuable and they don’t want to see something that you’re not totally proud of, and I don’t want to create resentment about me or the show. I would wager to say I was right. Then finally, the last two years, the show said, “OK, fine, you don’t want to submit, you don’t have to submit”. And then this year, the Emmy voters gave me the nomination. I feel good about that.

In the scenes you submitted, Liam wasn’t a doofus. He stood up for himself in it, which was good. He wasn’t going to lay down and let Hope just run over him with her betrayal.

SCOTT: We’ve seen kind of the vulnerable Liam, we’ve seen Liam scrambling to be heard, but he was in control throughout all these scenes. That’s a side that I had not played much before, and that the Emmy voters certainly haven’t seen me do.

Photo: JPI

Now, who do you root for yourself, John McCook or Thorsten Kaye since B&B holds three of the five slots in the Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series this year?

SCOTT: Oh, God. If any one of us gets it, that would be fantastic. Think about it. In terms of game theory, the value in getting an Emmy nomination is that you have a chance of winning an award for the show, right? The more we can get nominations, the more awards we can win. Those are awards for the show. That helps with ratings, it helps with the contract with the network. It’s all good. It inspires Brad to write more. So, I don’t care, honestly, but we have a three out of five chance of getting the show another Lead Actor Emmy which is huge. So, I’m rooting for any one of us.

Who did you first tell that you were Emmy-nominated?

SCOTT:  I was with my girlfriend, Elle. I was getting out of the shower and I’ve got like a towel barely around me and I got a phone call from Eva Basler. Then, Elle, she just saw the look on my face, and she could only hear my side of it, but she was trying to figure out what was going on. Then, I got off the phone and she went, “Did you just get nominated for Emmy?” And I said, “Yeah, I think I did.”

Make sure to tune-in to the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ beginning at 8pm ET/ delayed on the west coast.

Now below, check out some of the moments from the scenes that Scott included in his Emmy-nominated where Liam confronts Hope about her betrayal of kissing Thomas in Rome. Then, let us know, will you be rooting for Scott to take home the Lead Actor Emmy this year? What did you think about his nominated performance? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Serena Scott Thomas to Days of our Lives, But What Role Will She Play?

Look who’s coming to Salem next? In a tease on their official Instagram account, Days of our Lives has revealed that Serena Scott Thomas has been on set and will debut in an upcoming role, leaving many fans guessing just who might she play.

The English actress and documentary producer has previously starred in Diana, Her Story as Diane Prince of Wales, Dr. Molly Warmflash in the James Bond  film The World Is Not Enough, and played the villainess ‘Watcher” in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and Bruce Willis’ wife in the film, Hostages among others.

Serena is the younger sister of Kristen Scott Thomas, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in The English Patient. Several DAYS fans are already weighing in that Serena will play Konstantine’s (John Kaeplos) wife.

Photo: DAYS IG

However, NannyKat 63 may have it all figured out the best, when she posted, that not only will “Serena play Kostantine’s wife,” but the character “had an affair with Victor Kiriakis and got pregnant.” Thus, making Xander (Paul Telfer) her son. She went on to theorize, “Perhaps, And John and Steve will find her in the nick of time… and she’ll enter in time to stop the wedding of Maggie to him. Xander will find out his true identity then. The baby was given to Victor’s brother to be raised in Scotland.”

Photo: JPI

Sounds plausible to us! Another guess came from donnamoore_23 who said, “Ya’ll think he could be Bobberette ‘s mom or sister or .. SOMETHING to do with his story .. someone who can back up what trauma he went through to be so sick? 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I think y’all are right could be Katerina.”

Photo: JPI

Two DAYS stars, Tamara Braun (Ava) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) also shared comments on Serena Scott Thomas’ upcoming appearance on DAYS. Godfrey simply said, “YES!!!! while Braun add her guess, expressing, “Ava’s mum. Oh wait, her mom was killed by her dad. Or was she? 🤔”

So, what do you think? What role will Serena Scott Thomas play on Days of our Lives? Share your theories in the comment section below.
