RINGER Season Finale Preview: But, will the series get a renewal or get canned?

It’s decision time for many of the television networks deciding which shows will get picked-up for the fall season and one show on the bubble, according to TV Line is the Sarah Michelle Gellar sudsy drama series, Ringer.  During the course of this season, many soap stars have stopped by to guest-star on the suspense drama including Y&R’s Billy Miller (Billy) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis).

This coming Tuesday, April 17th at 9/8C on The CW is the season finale and viewer will  learn that twin, Siobhan, will intercepts the results of her paternity test before Henry (Kris Polaha) can have a look, and the dramatic conclusion intensifies.

In the should Ringer get a renewal or not issue, TV Line assessed the situation stating: “The series is ripe with potential but, not unlike the first seasons of several series — ahem, Community, Parks and Recreation – it needs a bit more time to work out the kinks and grow into itself. That said, when Ringer is good, it can be really good. First of all, it’s still got what initially drew us all in — Sarah Michelle Gellar times two. And while it’s clearly not the second coming of Buffy (nor was it supposed to be), it’s nice to have her back on our TVs each week. Add to that the fact that the freshman drama mastered the art of the love-to-hate villain (Siobhan and Catherine, to name two), aced the jaw-dropping death of a main character (RIP, Gemma) and nurtured an unconventional yet very sweet romance (between Bridget and Andrew), and you’ve got the makings of a fun, sudsy show.”

TV Line’s reason for cutting the show:  “No matter how it has tried (and try it has), Ringer has never quite lived up to the expectations set in its strong debut episode (boat scene excepted). The premise was a winning one — estranged twins reunite, only to have one “die” and the other assume her sister’s identity — but that all played out by pilot’s end. Since then, the plot has become increasingly convoluted. There’s just too much “shock for shocks’ sake” and not enough earned drama. And while the cast of the sudser is all-around solid, it’s way too big, leaving little to do for more than a few criminally underused players, Nestor Carbonell and Kris Polaha included.”

Watch the preview of the final episode below.  And let us know, do you want the Gellar series to stay on the air? Yes? Or, No?

Yes, I WANT Sara Michelle Gellar’s series to stay on the air! It’s one of the best shows on television. There maybe a lot going on in one episode but it keeps me guessing and on the edge of my seat. Most shows I can figure what’s going to happen before it happens they are too predictable, Ringer is the exact opposite. The CW cancelled Veronica Mars way too soon and if they do it again with Ringer, there is no need to watch anything else on that network. All the good shows seem to get cancelled too soon.

Ringer is kind of cheesy but in the most delicious way. I’d love to see a second season.

I actually love this show it’s just as good n fun as Revenge.

Oh I totally agree. I was just saying that earlier today. Ringer and Revenge are two of my favorite shows on television. I got my season 2 of Revenge, I want one for Ringer as well.

Revenge is a million and one times better than Ringer. Can’t believe you even compared the two.

Apples n oranges dear.

This is by far one of the best new shows on television. I would be devastated if it were cancelled.

This is one of my FAVORITE shows. For me it rates up there with Revenge. Always a twist to make you want to watch more. Praying CW will keep it on.

Sure hope Ringer doesn’t get cancelled. I really love it! Great suspense with lots of fun twists and turns. You really never know what’s going to happen. I definitely want to see more!

i cant stand her in anything

Then why are you on this website making comments.

cause i felt like it, and i commented like weeks ago..so what gives anyone the right to call me hater and answer why come here, jesus…free speech. i’m as real as can be.

Seriously, Jan. Get real.

hey you stop bein a hata

I hope they keep it on the air. It’s one of my favorite shows.

I have a feeling it’ll get a renewal; ratings have been going up strong since the return. And it’s an amazing series, the best The CW has. It’s everything soap operas should be right now. I love it.

I really like ‘Ringer.’ But I have felt one disadvantage is it’s time slot. In my market it’s only on at 10pm on Friday nights, with no reruns during the week. I’m not home every Friday night, and currently I don’t record. Being a complicated story you don’t want to miss one.

It’s been one of the best “suspence” shows in a while where it leaves the audience going WTF at some points and anxiously waiting for the next epi – I hope everyone’s smart and the show stays!

It has to go so Hart of Dixie has a chance of renewal. I tried to get into it, but after 6-7 episodes I stopped watching. Too much going on to follow it all. I like a deep story but this was just too much. Still love SMG, bring Buffy back and I’ll watch 😉

Pleasse..Please do not cancel!!! Love this series.

KEEP IT!!!!!!!

love the show, and I hardly watch anything else on TV. CW – please keep this!!

I would love for them to get a second season and since they are on the cw it is a big possiblity i just think it needs to find its following but for the life of me i can’t figure out where this show will go in season two. The finale seem to tie up all the story lines so what comes next?

YES!!!! I LOVE RINGER!!!!! I look forward to my Tuesday nights knowing it’s coming on, I haven’t missed a show yet. Keep up the GREAT work with the show….. Can’t wait til the Fall…..

Thank You!!
Tiffany

I feel like I am the only one I know who watches this show…but I am addicted! In the past I have a record of only getting addicted to really good shows, so unless this is a huge fluke, Ringer needs to have a second season. PLEASE! Please keep it going….

Yes! This show is one of the best out there, and after watching the season finale, I can’t help but want more. I will be devastated if this show is cancelled.

Awesome show..one of the best on TV.

I just saw the season finale and WOW it was incredible. It delivered and then some. It’s one of the best quality shows on the CW. I really hope the CW gives it a second season because that finale was rich and riveting.

ABSOLUTELY….I LOVE THE SHOW! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
I REALLY HOPE TO SEE IT AGAIN!!!!

I love this show and would like very much for Ringer to have more seasons.

Yes, this is a very good suspense movie. I have enjoyed watching it.
I hope the show stays on. It keeps you in suspense.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a very good actress.

I just hope it does not get cancelled. Its worth keeping it on.

I am dying for there to be a SEASON 2… One of the best shows on TV

Ringer in my opinion is an EXCELLENT show.. It was full of suspense and twits& turns. I feel the CW broadcast would lose alot of fans first of the cliffhanger in the season finale due to the speculations of cancelation. Second that there are even speculations of cancelations and third if it does get canceled. Ringer was by far one of the great shows to air on CW this year (Secret Circle as well), besides all the previous renews. I am hoping for the return/renewal of Ringer. It was truly an AMAZING show. Stock full of a great story line and actors!

I believe Ringer is an awesome show. I hope it will come back for a second season. Sarah Michelle Gellar did a great job playing two characters. It was full of suspense and the story line to the show was well-written.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. This is my favorite show!

I would very much like to see the series renewed, but I suspect that it will not be. I love the depth of the plot / subplots but it seems that the majority of audiences do not like to think while watching TV. Advertisers want to hit the largest numbers possible thus people who do have intelligence and enjoy deeper stories suffer.

I love ringer it should stay on. Sarak MIchelle Geller is a great actress. You need to help the show.

I LOVE this show! It’s the only show I actually look forward to. Unfortunately, I always have to catch up on it online or on SOD…If they cancel this I will be crushed

I LOVED THIS SHOW!!! My husband and I waited forever for the season to start and we enjoyed watching Sarah Michelle Gellar and the drama each week. The one thing I did not understand was why the producers would air the show during the same time as Dancing with the Stars….I would always Ringer and then I would dvr DWTS and watch that at a later time. It was a bad time slot. If they had the show on Wednesday nights it would have gotten more stable and consistent viewers. I so hope that they will bring the show back for a second season!!! I really hope so. Ringer is my favorite show!

I really like the show a lot. It was one of the only cable tv shows that I enjoyed watching. I hope it comes back. I can’t understand why it is not getting good ratings. Maybe people do not like it because it is not reality tv. Maybe if they had snookie as a main character more people would watch.

Ringer was a show i couldn’t wait to watch again the next week.
Loved it ,and hope they have a second season

I just finished watching the finally on netflix and oh my god how can you not continue that? Beats me. Oh well but I really hate it when they cut off showa like that it relly bugs me. Anyway hopefully they continue the series.

We didn’t know about this cancellation, nor the series, just watched it through netflix, what a disappointment that its not continued, we could hardly wait to see what would happen next. waah!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?
