Tamron Hall Talk Show Gets Second Season Renewal

Photo: Disney/ABC

Disney’s produced and distributed syndicated talk show Tamron Hall has been renewed for a second season. That follows suit with another freshman hit, The Kelly Clarkson Show which also received a pick-up.

The Hollywood Reporter shared that the Tamron talker is now cleared in 80 percent of the country for next season, with ABC-owned stations and Hearst Television stations serving as the flagship groups for the show.  Tamron Hall has ranked second behind Clarkson’s show for first-year shows currently in syndication.

ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said in a statement. “As one of the highest-rated new talk shows in five years, Tamron Hall is connecting with audiences in such a powerful and unique way, and we are thrilled to build on that momentum with a second season. Tamron’s authenticity and her stunning ability to engage with viewers is remarkable, and we look forward to continued success working with our incredible station partners.”

Hall offered up: “I’m thrilled our show has been renewed for a second season! Thanks to my partners at Disney and ABC for this incredible show of support. I’m honored to host and executive produce a daytime talk show that explores conversation topics that really matter to our viewers, who we affectionately refer to as our ‘TamFam.’ From inspiring interviews with guests like Tyler Perry and Kelly Rowland to in-depth discussions on issues like the opioid epidemic and domestic violence, nothing is off limits — we’re here to talk about it. My team and I are excited to continue to bring our fresh perspective to station partners and viewers nationwide.”

DAYS Wally Kurth On The Exit Of Freddie Smith and Chandler Massey: “These Two Wonderful Actors & Terrific Young Men, Consistently Gave Their Best”

If anyone is familiar with the scene-work done by Days of our Lives’ Daytime Emmy winners, Chandler Massey (Will) and Freddie Smith(Sonny), it’s Wally Kurth (Justin).

For DAYS fans, and as we discussed in our recent interview with Wally, they have watched this soap vet give the performances of his daytime career alongside of Massey and Smith in the storyline that found Adrienne (Judi Evans) killed in a car crash, and Will sent to prison for it.

With the news last week of the departure of Chandler and Freddie from DAYS (from the actors themselves), fan outcry has begun with a petition to keep Will and Sonny on the show, and now a very public support from Kurth, who thanked these two talented actors for all they have meant to Days of our Lives over the years.

In a post on social media, Wally tweeted over the weekend: These two wonderful actors and terrific young men, consistently gave their best and it made @nbcdays the best it’s ever been. I will truly miss working with them. And I look forward to their return. @ChandlerMassey @freddiemsmith”

What do you think of the sentiments Wally shared on Freddie and Chandler?  Do you think WilSon will be back on the canvas, eventually, after they exit on-air in the fall? Comment below.

General Hospital Releases Extended Promo “We Have To Lean Into Hope”

As the ABC daytime drama series, General Hospital, continues to be preempted by the impeachment hearings of President Donald Trump, and episodes are not being made available on any other platform at this time, two videos were posted in last 24 hours to the official General Hospital social media accounts.

To tide you over (while you are clamoring for all-new episodes of GH) the soap released an extended promo featuring the folks in Port Charles filled with lots of joy, hope, and love.  It’s main message, “We have to lean into hope” – as the series tells us to “sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.”

In addition, Finola Hughes (Anna) and Michael Easton (Finn) along with Jophielle Love (Violet) were featured in another video, where the key messaging to fans is that they are currently taping all-new episodes of GH, and that viewers should keep tuned ans posted to GH’s social channels for updates on when new episodes of GH will return.

As of late, GH has been on the upswing in the ratings, too.  So, it’s always frustrating for everyone when weeks of preemptions hit the daytime viewers  experience to enjoy the on-going stories of the soaps.
