THE BACHELORETTE: Becca Receives Bombshell From Tia; At ‘Hometowns’ Parents Warn Her Not To Break Hearts … But She Does!

Courtesy/ABC

Week 8 of The Bachelorette featuring Becca Kufrin, included the all important ‘hometowns” where she “meets the parents” of the four men she has chosen to be in the running for the final rose.  They are Garrett, Blake, Colton, and Jason.

The set-up has: Garrett bringing home a woman to meet his family for the first time since his divorce, Blake revealing a haunting secret from his high school days, Jason trying to open himself up and catch up to the other guys with their professions of love, and Colton bringing home a woman for the first time to meet his family.

And on that .. here we go:  In Central California, we learn Garrett grew up in an agricultural family-owned business, as he drives Becca around in his lap on a tractor, which she likes! Next, Garrett and Becca meet up with his parents and siblings.  His older sister is frantically worried and in tears that he could get hurt again and she doesn’t want to see that happen.  Garrett’s dad and mom separately plead with Becca to not hurt Garrett as he was torn apart by his divorce.  The odd thing:  while everyone is concerned around him, Garrett just keeps smiling. Guess that his constant positive nature illustrates nothing much affects him? Who would love to see the guy have one meltdown to show he is human? Raise your hands!

Next, Becca journeys to Buffalo to enter a chicken wing eating contest with Jason.  Her favorite kisser (as she constantly reminds us how much she loves his kisses), also shows off his hockey prowess at the hockey rink, which kind of turns on Becca, we think?   When the duo next head to meet the family, Jason lets us know that he admires his brother’s relationship to his partner, and his parents long-lasting marriage.  When he sat down with his brother, Jason got a warning that you better move fast now and tell her how you feel, because time is fleeting.  With that, after they left the parent’s house, Jason admitted he is in love with Becca.  She smiles.  What can she do?  She can’t admit she does, or doesn’t at this point.  Awkward!

On to Blake and his family in Colorado.  Blake, who was a high school football star, takes Becca back to his old stomping grounds, where if you recall his mother also works and where she met his former teacher and coach.  But the main reason we are at his high school is that he reveals that a school shooting took place there, and it had impacted the person he has become. Becca takes that intel in, but not sure how much that changes anything in his favor, or not.  Next, Blake walks her to the school auditorium where a ton of people are watching and listening to a performance by Betty Who! So, who Betty, you ask? Becca’s favorite singer! Now, just how did Blake know that?

Last up is Colton, who also is from Colorado.  This was not easy for Becca.  Colton’s father came at her with if: she has discussed her previous relationship with Arie enough with his son.  He also questioned her about how she felt about Colton’s past with Tia, and the reveal that his son was virgin.  Guess all that could cause a girl to run the other way!  After the family get-together, Colton tells Becca he loves her.  So now, all four men have virtually said they “love” Becca.  What more could a girl ask for?!

Photo: CUnderwoodInstagram

Knowing she has to send one guy packing, she enlists her “Bachelor” gal pals:  Tia, Bekah, Sienne, Kendall and Caroline to consult on her decision.  But things take a turn when Tia asks to speak to Becca privately.  Alone, she tells Becca she still has feelings for Colton, and it makes her “sick” thinking of Becca with him/cut to the gals who share the gossip of Tia’s text messages that she has sent them saying she is “sick” over Colton and Becca.

At the rose ceremony, no surprise.  Colton is the odd man out.  He is devastated, but Becca feels she made the right choice.

So, would you have given Colton the boot at this juncture? Of the men remaining ,who do you think will be the final two vying for Becca’s heart? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Why are you reporting on this, the worst possible example of “soap” on television?!?!? I tried watching one season, and I didn’t make it through one episode! It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen!

GH Nurses’ Ball 2019 Part One: Nina’s Red Carpet Arrival Commentary And Locking Eyes With Jax

On Friday’s first installment of the 2019 GH Nurses’ Ball episodes, it was red carpet time in Port Charles as all of the most famous and infamous residents got dressed to the nines and to impress.

This year, Nina Cassadine (Michelle Stafford) is back for her on-camera hosting duties covering the arrivals on the live-stream, but is joined by Crimson’s New York fashion editor, Sydney Val Jean played by guest star Chandra Wilson of Grey’s Anatomy.  And as you’d expect, these two fashionistas battle it out at times on the carpet for attention.

Throughout the arrivals, and through this episode, this one really belonged to the talents of Michelle Stafford, who through her comedic, romantic, and dramatic timing, made for some of the best moments.  In a surprise, when Nina begins to choke after interviewing Peter (Wes Ramsey), Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Lulu (Emme Rylan),  she excuses herself and ends up outside where Jax (Ingo Rademacher) appears and offers her some champagne.  The two seem to be clearly smitten with each other! Nina accepts his drink, and thanks him, and then goes back inside to her hosting gig, while Jax looks very intrigued by Nina.  Previously, Nina gave a major kiss to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) when he appeared on the red carpet.

Photo: ABC

Some of the more shocking …. or interesting red carpet arrivals included: Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) showing up with Sam (Kelly Monaco) on his arm, and then getting into words with Sonny (Maurice Benard), who tells the cult leader that family means everything to him and that there is nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loves.  Shiloh is convinced Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) will come back to “Dawn of Day”.

When Anna (Finola Hughes) and Finn (Michael Easton) stroll down the red carpet, they get distracted when a dapper Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) shows up, clearly intent on wooing back Anna, to which Anna looks caught by her feelings for both men while Finn is pissed at the game’s Robert is playing.  Later, Finn confronts Robert about his ring.

Photo: ABC

Everyone was shocked when Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) showed up arm and arm with Ava Jerome (Maura West).  We later learn that this is an attempt to smoke out Ryan, who Ava believes will show his face at the ball.   Lucy (Lynn Herring), the hostess with the mostess, comes up with a plan to get Kevin away from Ava, not knowing they are not romantically together and tries to, perhaps, rekindle their romance up in a Metro Court hotel room.  Meanwhile, Scott (Kin Shriner) wants to get Ava away from Kevin, so he heads up to Lucy’s room with Ava to show her and to catch Kevin and Lucy together, but we don’t know what they saw when the door opened!

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile in Toronto, Canada, Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Laura (Genie Francis) come to realizing they have been tied up and there is a gas leak in the cabin.  Laura realizes Ryan is trying to kill her in an explosion just as he was supposed to have perished in at the fun house years ago.  It appears Ryan set a trap for Laura and Curtis and fled the scene.  The two extricate themselves before running from the cabin just as it blows up!

Back at the ball other notable couples have arrived from: Chase (Josh Swickard) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), to Michael (Chad Duell) and Sasha (Sofia Mattson), to Franco (Roger Howarth) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst), to the GH nurses crew.

Photo: ABC

The episode ends with an announcer telling all the guests to take their seats as its just about showtime!  And of note:  Is the opening title sequence music changed to a new theme for GH, or is it just for the Nurses’ Ball episodes? That’s one of the buzziest questions today.

So, what did you think of the red carpet arrivals?  Michelle Stafford’s performance?  Jax meeting Nina? What do you think will happen next with Ryan?  Comment below

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Oscar’s Memorial Brings With It Remembrances By Those Who Loved Him

On Monday’s emotional episode of General Hospital, Ned (Wally Kurth) and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) summoned family, friends, and loved ones to honor Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt), since he just past away due to his battle with brain cancer.  Oscar had his own way he wanted everyone to mourn his death and Ned and Olivia carried out his wishes.

When everyone gathers together, Ned and Olivia announce that Oscar wanted this to be a celebration.  After everyone arrives they sit picnic-style and some get up to speak to remember the amazing young man that Oscar was.  It turns out to be Michael (Chad Duell) who starts the tribute by saying that Oscar was brave to date his intimidating sister.  Next, Cameron (William Lipton) touches on his journey to friendship with Oscar.  Joss (Eden McCoy) finds the courage to go next and remembers how she had a crush on Oscar and how he wasn’t easy to talk to but how she was intrigued because he was mysterious. She then tells show she eventually fell in love with Oscar, and how she will never forget him.  When Drew (Billy Miller) gets up next, he breaks everyone’s heart by stating that he will be eternally grateful to have known his son and will always carry him in his heart.

Next, Ned asks everyone to follow him to the meadow.  Once there, Ned and Olivia hand out seeds to the attendees.  Then, Ned and Olivia reveal a plaque dedicated to Oscar, as everyone throw up seeds that land in the grass for it to grow.

Finally, Kim (Tamara Braun) speaks. She talks about how she raised Oscar on her own, and how after she learned he was sick, she brought him to Port Charles so he could meet his true family.  And with the analogy of the seeds, she says it helped Oscar blossom and how it enriched his young life.  In a heartbreaking moment, she thanks Drew for giving her son courage and being his dad when he needed it, and to Joss for being her son’s first love.  Kim hopes that Joss will come back to the meadow often and think of him.  They share an emotional hug.

Later, after Drew thanks Ned and Olivia for putting this all together for his son, Sam (Kelly Monaco) finds him and tells him he was a great father … and is a great father.  He wants to make sure that Scout knows he loves her.

Back at the meadow, Sonny (Maurice Benard) finds Kim in tears alone at Oscar’s plaque. He tells her he understands the deep pain and void she is going through, but she has to hold on to how Oscar touched so many lives.   Once Sonny leaves, Kim in tears looks up to the sky and says she’ll always love her baby boy.

The episode featured touching performances by Tamara Braun, Billy Miller, Eden McCoy, and William Lipton, who all carried the Oscar dying storyline so beautifully along with Garren Sttit.  Additional kudos go to Lisa LoCicero and Wally Kurth, who as Olivia and Ned, kept Oscar’s memorial moving forward, and were also emotional throughout.

So, what did you think of the episode and the performances? Are you sad Oscar is gone?  Comment below.

THE BACHELORETTE: Hannah B. Gives One Gent The Boot; Then Hands Out First Impression Rose

The new season of The Bachelorette kicked-off on ABC Monday night, as America gets set to watch the former Miss Alabama, Hannah Brown look for love.  Will she succeed with the 30 suitors who showed up to try to “wow” her with the typical and cornball antics we come to expect from this reality-competition series?

As in previous seasons, the franchise also had some friends around to offer advice and support through the journey.  This time, there was a bit of espionage going down to try to lift the episode.  Hannah’s buds, Demi Burnett and Katie Morton (from the Colton Underwood season of The Bachelor where we first heard Hannah B. roar) tried to snuff out a contestant.  Demi revealed she was contacted on social media by someone telling her that one of Hannah’s potential suitors said that he would be back home with his girlfriend right after he was done with the show.

It was revealed to be the “duplicitous” Scott, a software sales executive, who earlier tried to impress Hannah by picking out what their dream house would look like.

Chris Harrison interrupted Hannah’s first cocktail party and brought her outside to the van, where Demi and Kate were staked out.  Then, Demi lowered the boom on Hannah and said,  “I read messages between the girlfriend and her friends of her talking about how they saw each other Monday before he came and they’re going to be together whenever this is all over, and they’re going to go on a trip together.”

Hannah stormed back into the mansion and demanded to talk with Scott alone.  She started with “I knew you were nervous coming in today … it might be because you have a girlfriend!”

Scott tried to deny the accusation.  Then sorta, kinda fessed up, but Hannah didn’t accept it stating, “There’s 29 other guys in there that I hope are here for the right reasons and don’t have other girls just waiting back at home.”   She eventually called out Scott saying:  “You are such a jerk! I’m done with this! There’s no reason for you to be here if you’re not serious. It’s time for you to head out.”

Photo: ABC

That left the door open for Luke Parker to take the opportunity to comfort Hannah; who seemed a bit wrecked over throwing a lying guy out on the first night of the show.  Later, Hannah gave Luke the first impression rose and the two shared a major lip-lock.  She previously kissed another guy earlier at the cocktail party tho.  Will Hannah be another kissing bandit?

After receiving the all-important first impression rose, Luke said in the confessionals. “My heart is literally exploding. Before I met Hannah, I knew that there was going to be something strong between us, and after tonight I can totally already see myself falling madly in love with her and spending the rest of my life with this girl.”

During the initial rose ceremony, Hannah sent seven guys home they included:  Joe, Matt Donald, Chasen, Hunter, Ryan, and Thomas.

So what did you think of Hannah’s choice to give the first impression rose to?  What did you think of her throwing Scott out of the competition? Comment below.
