The Heart-Tugging Scenes Of GH's JaSam! Steve Burton Delivers In Tender Moments!

If you caught yesterday’s episode of General Hospital, which is getting mighty good we might add, JaSam fans hopefully were jumping for joy, when Jason and Sam, and little baby Danny decided to leave the hospital together as a family!

What made these little nuggets of scenes so tender was the performances by Steve Burton (Jason) along with Kelly Monaco (Sam) and Laura Wright (Carly), which almost made us feel like those were Steve’s real emotions as he is preparing to say goodbye to his longtime co-stars!

In the episode, Jason tells Sam he wants to be a father to Danny and he wants to be a family.  He also tells Sam how much he loves her.  Later in a moment alone with Danny, Carly enters and there is a heartfelt hug about their friendship.

Kudos to GH’s head writer, Ron Carlivati for giving JaSam fans a long awaited moment, and in particular, Mr. Burton, who once again showed us that he can play tough as well as tender better than anyone in the genre …  something that will be surely missed!

What did you think of the performances and the scenes with JaSam on yesterday’s GH?  You can watch them again after the jump and then weigh-in!

Its always great with Steve and Kelly together, but you can tell its was hard for both.

I’ve been a GH fan since the days before Luke and Laura. Steve Burton has to be one of best actors GH has had. HIs range is exceptional. I love this character. Here’s hoping the story line doesn’t break my heart. Sam and Jason, were a great team. I will be sitting at the edge of my seat watching the turn of events. Let’s hope he makes appearances from time to time. No where is Frisco and Robert? lol Duke Lavery appeared wow…what’s his secret with Robine? love all these characters.

Sorry, but I just HAD to reply. “his range”??????????? The man virtually NEVER changes the expression on his face, the look in his eyes, or the tone of his voice (heck, he doesn’t even change the style of his wardrobe). He HAS no range. Happy, sad, furious, excited, confused – it doesn’t matter, the man is ALWAYS the same. For range, please see Jane Elliot.

Actually I think it would be even harder to play a character with brain damage that supposedly stunted his emotions, than a normal character. So for the fact that Steve Burton had to act within the confines of NOT showing emotions, I think he did a fabulous job. Wardrobe is not a choice made by the actors, and the way he dressed was also part of his character. Steve will be missed, but I’m sure he will have other projects soon enough.

Don’t worry they called in the calvary enter Sean Kanan as AJ when he puts the midget mobster on a meat hook. In the words of Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry go ahead make my day until then. Yawn.

please see the other comments below that I agree with. Steve Burton emoted with such a subtle brilliance…he laughed, cried, judged with his eyes…you felt warmth, wrath, amusement…wonderful actor/character…will miss him greatly.

that is your opinion, he is loved by true fans of GH he is great and will be missed every day

Perhaps you read this comment wrong.

I said range meaning” the distance or extent between possible extremes. Steve is an exception actor and has the ability to play any emotion with ease.

Please read more carefully. I loved this character and would never say anything derogatory.

To be fair,Jason was in a devastating car accident years ago, with a drunken AJ (then played by Sean Kanan).
At the time of the accident Jason was premed, going to be a doctor like his dad.
He suffered a serious brain injury that altered his personality, hence his demeanor for these many years.
Prior to the accident he was a very different guy.

I think Burton did a good acting job..That is the way the script was written for his particular character…That’s the way he was told to portray Jason….Thanks Lisa didn’t remember that car accident he had with AJ…..So now I understand
his personality & others will to.

so go online and show me just ONE example of how burton displayed ANY emotion. “has the ability to play any emotion with ease”: name one.

Listen,if people find Burton attractive or nice or muscular or whatever, that is fine. more power to you. i like several movie and tv actors that aren’t really that great; i just like them. But to out-and-out lie, and say that burton can laugh and cry or emote, or that he is a great actor, when in plain fact he never had done any of those things, is kind of sad. just be honest: he’s a good looking soap opera actor that many people enjoy watching. but that is all (and the reason why, when he left last time, he ended up coming back). and it will probably happen again, if gh is still on the air.

I loved them. Kemo and SBu were simply amazing. I’m gonna miss Steve, and my beautiful Jasam.

Steve Burton expresses more through his beautiful blue eyes & facial expressions than mere dialog ever could. I can never thank him enough for sharing this “gift” so generously with us for 21 years on #GH. I will miss him & the iconic character he has created in Jason Morgan more than I can ever express!

Laurie, I could not have said it better myself. I agree with all you said!

agree 100 %steve burton is beloved by fans everywhere so elhu thanks for
caring about our beloved GH

Agreed! He emotes more than most and it’s so subtle and so beautiful.

laurie i agree 100% he will be missed everydayand hopefully we will see our jason
again real soon. he knows how much he is loved by loyal GH fans

miss you steve and wish you well

Wonderful comment Laurie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These scenes are bittersweet knowing that Steve has left. Loved these episodes though … very touching.

I loved it sooooooo much! I am going to miss Steve Burton so much! We are only getting one or two days of them being a happy family before he leaves. Please come back Steve and please let him be alive to come back! Please don’t recast him. The scenes with Carly were too short. I love Carly and Jason together and they both nailed it! Great job GH… I want more!!!

No one can replace Steve, just like no one can replace Tony. People, you should accept any thing Steve Burton wanted to sign. Don’t you understand the long term fan loves their characters. You can’t kill off Jason and not expect the ratings to drop.

That IS so true,Hopefull they let him live and, just disapear . After all he never found out the baby was really his. This makes me so sad.I was looking forward to that story unfolding.

I will be miss Steve Burton/Jason Morgan today or this coming Monday.. 🙁
good Luck for your future that u can find yourself out there in real life for you.
We all love you,man.
This is my last time to see Jason been shot or killed by Duke Lavery, what’s wasting time with Duke want everything his way.

right on jeffery i say get rid of duke lavery asap

he is a waste of air time on GH, has been gone 20 yrs and he has been on
days, bold & beautiful and I believe amc as well

he is boring, not interesting at all, i say get rid of him the sooner the bettet
if he killed jason i think he will not last anyway

I am still not convinced that he is really Duke he just happens to have the old face I still say it is Faison the actor who played Faison is retired from acting hence we got Ian Buchanan back.

Oh my goodness did I NEED tissues yesterday! I have been waiting for this & us JASAMMERS FINALLY got it! Those scenes were BEAUTIFULLY written! STELLY brought THEIR A-game!! I am going to miss the MAGIC that is SB & KM!!! I have watched GH for 22+ years & the story of JaSam has been one of my FAVORITES everything from the beginning of them has been STELLAR! LOL I hope one day SB returns so the DYNAMIC that is JaSam can continue!!

We got the same thing on OLTL… Todd accepted that he isn’t Todd and took on the Victor Lord Identity, he and Tea were happy and in love. Finally knew that no matter what his name was, he was her soulmate, the love of her life and the next night… BANG… shot dead. I hate that RC did that.. but in the last 30 seconds of OLTL.. we got our Man back. So, Jason will be back someday… just as we Trevorites are waiting for Victor’s return and the final plug for the ROBOT running around calling himself Todd Manning.

Both Men will be welcomed back with huge open arms!

sorry outspoken but the ROBOT is TODD period, ROger Howart has been
todd for as long as i can remember

i like trevor st john but he really never did fit the role on OTLT as todd

sorry but just my opini and besides otlt is gone so enjoy GH as long as we
have one ABC soap

Alway’s liked the orginial Todd…………….A OLTL fan……….

Yes yesterday’s episode was very tounching!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy to see them finally together..
I hope their happiness isn’t going to be torn apart according to what happen on today’s
episode(FRI.)……His last episode is on Mon……………….Duke shot Jason in the back and it doesn’t look good for him…I hope he isn’t dead…..It doesn’t look good for Jason….. I hope my gut feeling is wrong on this one…That Jason will be alright…Don’t
like Duke, he is crazy & way out of control…….Don’t need to start another mob/ganster
story with Duke if he is even really Duke..I don’t care for him at all…He is worse than Sonny……….Duke wants to kill just about anyone..He wants to be the new kingpin (Mob
leader over them all)…..DNA test should prove who he really is..He refused to take Aa DNA test so Luke pulled a few hairs from his head..The truth will come out…I don’t
think he is Duke at all..He’s an IMPOSTER!!!!!!!!!!!

duke is a boring get rid of him however I disagree with you about him being worse than
sonny, sonny is the core of GH along with steve burton and tony geary

i love the mob storyline and am very sorry to see steve leave and hope re returns

duke lavery makes sonny look like a angel with wings and those dimples boy
are they something, hey he (sonny) is angel to me I have loved him for 20 yrs
or longer and still think the is the Hottest thing; but you have your opinion

i say duke will not last i hope GH did not sign him for a long contract with alot of
money cause they will have alot of backlash for his character killing jason
and viewers will not forget that even if he turns out to be the real duke instead
of an imposter, i think anna should be with luke and hope anna finds robin and
kimberly m.will come back soon

i think jason willl end up in switerzland with robin maybe

The JaSam scenes yesterday were done so well by the actors and the writers. It was so great seeing Jason And Sam getting back together, but bittersweet knowing Steve B. is leaving the show and that Jason, Sam and Baby Danny won’t be able to live happily ever after. 🙁

Today’s episode was touching and great. It is a shame they waited so long to put my favorite couple together again. Steve Burton will be greatly missed.

I enjoyed the touching scenes Jason had w/his circle of ppl. He had’em w/Sonny, Carly and Sam. I liked the line when Sonny said something about I haven’t taught u something in a long while, but you can’t protect everyone you love, etc…..and not to mention his scenes w/Carly and Sam. It was a mix of reel and real life sentiments. SB’s eyes were pinkish, blood shot in all of those scenes. THe poor man was probably crying his eyes out all day long. I do wish his last scenes w/Monica were more sentimental. Other than that I’m going to really miss SB. Sad:(

emily your comments were great right on the money perfect

thanks for what you said, i cried all wk knowing steve was leaving

and the scenes with sonny, carly and sam were 100% spot on

thanks again for a great comment

Thanks Susan:) Yeah, I’ve been watching for about 30 yrs now. I remember preppy/pre-med, reindeer sweater wearing Jason to the black t, hit man Jason he became. I know Jason, Sonny and Carly haven’t shared many scenes, to take away from it being the Carly, Sonny and Jason show. So it was nice that they had those last, meaningful scenes tog b4 he left. I don’t think those scenes were acting per say. I think the acting was holding back the tears, getting through the scenes and not falling apart:) IT was hard for me to watch those scenes, SO SAD:(! They did a great job! Love SB w/the baby too. Seeing a big tough guy making goo goo eyes at a baby, sweet!!

I don’t like when they kill off a character..I want Jason to be okay!!!!!!!!

I also agree 100% w/u Emily…and each scene he had w/ Sam, Sonny, Carly and Monica was outstanding….he will be greatly missed and I hope someday he’ll return

I agree!!!!!!!!

Sad not Liason goodbye. They were such a huge part of GH history and grew up together. Jasam never had the spark and Jason never had that same look in his eye for Sam. Also where was the big shoot out that fans expect> Rather boring. His character deserved more…

Good scenes, I listened instead of watched and imagined Jason saying those words to Elizabeth, the story that should have been told.

I agree Liason should have had goodbye scene because of their History together more than he had with Sam. They also had Jake his first child together. Said writers including the former writers refuse to acknowledge the relationship they had together and the rich History of the two families. Also fans seems to have forgotten the love he had for Robin and many more on this show. Jason’s love haven’t been just about Sam as some of their fans want to think. I believe we can all remember great storyline with Jason and other actresses on this show. I will forever remember Steve and Rebecca and the giving birth to Jake storyline, and Robin at the Nurse’s Ball when he picked her up and carried her off the stage. I will remember when they went on that vacation to the beach together

Thank you Steve for all the memories of great days on General Hospital. Wish you and your family the best of Luck.

One thing I will always regret is they never gave you and Elizabeth the chance to shine.
The Mobster and the little Nurse.

i too am a liason fan as well and also did like jason with sam

jasam did have a huge fan following as well,so i guess GH went with that
since steve choose to leave, maybe he will return and we will see a liason storyline

but i did hate jason never knew baby dani was his son

and also did not like the storyline (dna) elizabeth bad to be involved in i think
they could have done it different cause everyone who knows the history between
jason and liz know she would have never lied to him about anything but did not
agree with her keeping jake from jason, he wanted to raise jake with her but she refused to raise her son in jasons world so that was kinda of mistake to begin with.

I am so upset to hear about Steve Burton leaving General Hospital… I wish him all the best … GH will not be the same without him. I loved him and Sam together, and glad that they were reunited as a family. Wish they would of had more time together….hope to see Steve come back soom… please don’t let Jason die…

The scenes were great! And shooting Jason in the back was so cowardly. The one thing I can be glad about is that it happened on the pier and Jason was right on the edge…which means he could fall in, disappear and come back later, saying he floated away and took a while to heal, etc. But I hope he doesn’t die on screen. That would be tough.

rodd i could not believe the low life coward (duke lavery is a loser) shot jason in the
back on the pier i did not like jason being written out like that he is our hero
and should have died or disappeared being a hero like he always has been

totally did not agree with the way RC ended jasons run on GH he has been
on aire @ GH 21 yrs and deserved a better send off than that

GET RID OF DUKE LAVERY ASAP!!! who wants to see him now
not that I did anyway to begin with he is a LOSER!!!!

I agree I don’t care much for Duke Lavery either……I hope Sonny takes care of Duke if you know what I mean…………………Didn’t care Duke all those years ago either..Alway’s liked Robert Scorpio……………

Too sad Jason never found out that was the father ..

Agreed!!!! I am sad to see the extremely talented Steve Burton leave GH, but he is certainly entitled to do what is best for he and his family, as we all do. He will be sorely missed, and I wish him well. That being said, I cannot believe they did not have him find out that the baby was his before he left, that is a MAJOR dissappointment. I am guessing that the information will be filtered to Sam within the next few weeks, so that she will find comfort in knowing that she has a part of Jason, which is so sweet, but he should have had the joy of knowing Daniel was his too, not to mention how tenderly Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco would have worked those scenes together. I adore the work of FV and RC, and am grateful for the new life they helped pump into GH, but I am sad this particular piece did not play out as I had hoped.

I’ll be just like everyone else and say Steve did a wonderful job as Jason and will be sorely missed . I also hope they leave it so he can come back ( and not too long either ) but I HATE to think their going to “kill” Jason off without him finding out the baby is really his ….. How could they not let that come out first????

I loved the episodes until Jason was shot. (I didn’t like Bernie being killed either- the occasional work, I’m sure was something the actor enjoyed and he did his role well). I read today that Steve Burton actually offered to work occasionally at a paycut and GH said all or none. I think viewers should know this. So it was the choice of Carlivati and Valentini to basically give Steve a choice all or nothing. If Jason is killed off, I’m gone. Saw some people mentioned Duke. I watch GH in spite of the mob. We don’t need Duke. Never liked him. I’m gone if Jason is dead. I knew Steve was leaving, but I had hoped Jaso would leave town to try to get out of the mob where they’d be hope of return.

thanks stephie for the info and cannot believe they may have killed jason off
and not happy about bernie either

and to think that steve was willing to work occasionally at a paycut and carlivati and valentini told him all or none HOW DARE THEM? WHO DO THEY THINK
THEY ARE?

hate duke lavery and agree we do not need him he is ugh!!!!! just to look at
and if he did kill jason i am mad as he!! and they had a chance to keep steve
burton and did not HOW STUPID!!
I LOVE THE MOB STORYLINE IF THATS WHAT IT TAKE TO KEEP STEVE AND MAURICE ON.

never read that anywhere

I cannot even describe in words how these scenes touched me. I felt like I was watching all of them struggle knowing these were final scenes for them. So bittersweet and beautiful. Jason accepting the baby as his own not even knowing it was his all along and Sam with her restored faith in believing she can finally be happy.

But, you could see at a split second, and this is writing and acting, where Sam looked like she knew he wouldn’t be coming home.

Hi-quality end to a long run.

It can’t end all like this…….. Jason just has to survive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don’t let him be dead! I wish we had even a few more weeks with Steve there! Please let him come back and Steve… please come back!

heidi i agree100% but their are some people debi and vanessa that think
steve burton and maurice benard are the blame for the ratings dropping
but you and i agree Steve needs to come back asap. and maurice is the best
period i guess they will be happy if GH is cancelled because without maurice,
steve and tony geary that may happen sooner than we all think

they do not like the mob storyline and think that is the cause of low ratings but
however i dont think so, i seen steve and maurice together in person and you
would not believe the women who were there and who love them including me

i had the opportunity of meeting both of them pure pleasure, both really sweet
and also got a pix with both of them. love the mob storyline and they
either need to watch and support that storyline as well as the other ones dont
you think?

It’s a shame that soaps are in a place where killing off is the exit now. Not like ten years ago, when a character could come back or just vanish….who knows if there will be a place to come back at this point. Sad.

Never say never..Anything is possible with the soaps…….

Still crying buckets of tears after yesterday’s episode . Already missing Steve, Steve & Kelly, and JaSam and Danny. GH did not give justice to Jason and Sam , as if our Jason Morgan would just crawl away from his gun ,our Jason Morgan would pick up his gun and shoot to kill back. Here’s hoping that Jason isn’t really dead and he;ll be back to make it right. Thank you Steve Burton for being our Jason Morgan, no recasts will do as you are Jason Morgan, JASAM 4EVER!!!

I TOTALLY AGREE 100% JASON WOULD HAVE NEVER CRAWLED AWAY
HE WOULD HAVE FOUGHT TO THE END AND I FEEL THE SAME WAY
IT WAS A SHAME AND DISGRACE THE WAY THEY WROTE HIS FINAL SCENES JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THEY DO NOT KNOW OUR JASON
AT ALL. HOPE HE COMES BACK REAL SOON

OH YEAH YOU CAN CALL THIS NO AT ABC IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED TO
LEAVE A COMMENT ABOUT GH I HAVE ALREADY LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES ALONG WITH MY FRIENDS WE WERE VERY UPSET THE WAY
THEY WROTE JASON OFF

HERE IS THE NO. IF ANYONE WANTS TO CALL AND LEAVE A MSG

I think your ridiculous calling leaving messages .what do you think is gonna happen you leaving these messages????????????? You didn’t like the fact he crawled ??????.he got shot dud .do you think GH WILL CHANGE THE ENDING ….
Listen the writers can’t make everyone happy .I just think your a dumb bitch calling ABC …….

TO: ELENI

THANKS FOR THE RUDE COMMENT AND CALLING ME A DUMB BITCH
I PERSONALLY DO NOT APPRECIATE IT YOU MUST NOT KNOW THE HISTORY OF JASON AT ALL, HE IS A FIGHTER AND WOULD NOT HAVE
GIVEN UP LIKE THAT, SORRY YOU THINK I AM A DUM BITCH
AND I AM NOT A DUD!!! IF IT WANT TO CALL GH AND ANYONE AT ABC
THAT IS MY CHOICE AND WAY TO SUPPORT GH

I REALLY COULD CARE LESS WHAT YOU THINK OF ME
HOWEVER DO NOT CALL ME A DUMB BITCH AGAIN PLS IT IS RUDE
AND UNCALLED FOR,
BECAUSE IT IS MY OPINION AND I HAVE A RIGHT TO SPEAK MY MIND
HERE THE SAME AS YOU, REMEBER TO THINK BEFORE YOU POST
SUCH A RUDE MESSAGE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE
AND GH WILL GET MANY CALLS, EMAILS, AND TWEETS BESIDES MINE
FOR THE ENDING OF JASON STORYLINE SO IN THE FUTURE
DO NOT COMMENT ON MY REPLYS AT ALL, THANK YOU AGAIN FOR
BEING RUDE AND PERHAPS A LITTLE STUPID!!!

Amen Sarah Amen!

Steve did some of his best work the past couple days. I hate seeing him go-not just for the Jasam fans but because I want Jason to be there when Robin comes home so he can know she didn’t die after all.

I think that the fact that they made the entire last month about Sam and the baby is a huge disservice to the character of Jason Morgan. And to have it be Duke Lavery, not one of the thousands of enemies that Jason had in his life, be the person who shot him? It’s just lazy writing to prop up stunt casting. And I’m sure we’ll see that it is all connected to AJ, but so many missed opportunites! But because the network forced the writers into this Jasam reunion before Burton left, they wrote themselves into a corner. Because we got was Jason who just two weeks ago was telling Elizabeth that his life was too dangerous for her or her kids, deciding just a day after Kristina was almost murdered by an old enemy, decide that yeah, Sam will be fine – nothing to worry about. Huh? I have to wonder how happy Mr. Burton was to be able to stop having to repeat the words “Sam’s Baby”? Why not have Jason spend his last month trying to eliminate some sort of threat to Corinthos Morgan, have McBain help Sam track down her kid, and then have Jason shot trying to protect them? Laying down his life for Sam and her child? Or better yet, have Sam, who came onto the show as a con and a murder, be in on it. THAT would be good, shocking, drama. Jason’s exit should have been about Jason. Bravo to Steve, because he always gives his best with the material that he’s given. Unfortunately, since the toxin storyline, he wasn’t given much.

I know Jason and his family is moving to Tennessee, but I am so saddened by his departure. I was so happy for him and kelly. I was really hurt and can’t stop thinking about Jason getting shot it the back. Here it is Saturday I am still thinking about losing jason it really hurts.

I loved Steve Burton, he is the one and only Jason. A common criticism is of his lack of emotion, but if you watched the show for years, as I did, there is a progression in Jason from someone unable to feel or show emotion to someone who became less cold as time went on. He showed emotion especially well in yesterday’s show. I had thought he was going to get shot from the time Bernie called about “a matter of life or death” but I did not think he would have been ambused by the coward Duke Lavery. I thought the character deserved a better ending, one worthy of the hitman with a heart.

i w
ould like to leave a comment left for me from vanessa and debi re garding
the mobstory line i really do not care what you think about the mob storyline

steve burton and maurice benard (by the way maurice is still going strong) so sorry girls but they make GH and they are loved by millions of fans regardless of what you
2 think, sorry so if you do not like it do not watch

Im finished with GH for good now. What a horrible storyline to begin with and to have it end that way Friday..Carly and Michael were recast and it worked well, why not Jason??

Its like the writers dont care what the loyal fans want to see anymore..I will be doing something else when GH comes on from here on out! Farewell..enough is enough of such foolishness and ongoing agony (not to mention rediculous storylines anyway)..

20 yrs in turkish prisons, babies swapped, no thanks!! see ya…

hes not dead. I think Monica is going to hide him out somewhere & hell be back in 6 months.Maybe not Steve Burton playing him

I like that idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t want Jason Morgan to leave General hospital they just became a family. So why now why does he have to leave now. It’s not a god time right now……If he leaves now I don’t think I will be watching GH anymore. I am a fan of GH. But without Jason Morgan the Soap Opera Is nothing so if he leaves I won’t be watching this show anymore…
.

No one wants him to leave GH BUT unfortunately its not up to us .yes he’s been there a very long time .its sad to see him go .we will all live .just pray GH DOESNT GO OFF THE AIR .

We need to have a positive attitude that GH will survive & keep supporting GH everyday & watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its very sad Steve leaves now .I just hope the ratings don’t go down cuz of his departure .we all know ,how they need the ratings he was a loved as jason for more then 20 years .I just hope all is well for GH EP FRANK VALENTINI head writer RON AND of course all actors crew members behind the scenes let’s not forget all these people need jobs .
I just hope this doesn’t hurt GH .SOME times some thing like this might ruin everything .hope all the best life has to offer for Steve burton and his family .I hope GH stays on the air hope ratings go through the roof week after week .we need these people working ….its very sad Steve left I just hope they don’t bring him back with a different face with Sean coming on @ the end of the month .
Imagine ,that happens .I can’t imagine the chemistry between kelly and seam as jasam .
GH DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO KEEPS US COMING BACK TUNNING IN EVERY DAY .

I HAVE READ ABOUT SEAN SORRY TO TELL YOU THAT SEAN MAY BE TAKING HIS PLACE AS ON A SITE I FOUND SAID SO. SEAN KANAN SINCE HE LOOKED ALOT LIKE JASON MORGAN THEY MAY CAST HIM .BUT LOOK AT IT AS IT LEAVING THE SPOT OPEN AND MAYBE WE WILL SEE STEVE COME BACK SOMEDAY!

I [we] cannot believe you and the powers that be would eliminate Jason Morgan’s charactor from General Hospital! There has always been this good/bad guy that we loved. It was Luke for so many years and now Jason. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE! !!!!!!!! I am 65 years old and have watched since the beginning. But I firmly believe this is the biggest, BIGGEST elimination of a major role you have ever made.

I am heartbroken Steve Burton is leaving the show. It will not be the same without him. How sad, he never found out the baby is really his…you could of at least let it end like that instead of him dying. 🙁

IF JASON DIES ON MONDAYS SHOW< AND ,THEY HOOK UP SAM WITH THE MAN FROM ON LIFE TO LIVE.I WILL BE ONE LESS VIEWER OF GENERAL HOSPITAL.IF JASON FALLS IN THE WATER AND DISAPEARS THATS FINE ,FOR AWHILE,BUT<LEAVE A WAY FOR HIM TO COME BACK and,GET SAM BACK.PLEASE.

IM SORRY TO HEAR SB LEAVING HES GONNA BE WITH HIS FAMILY…GOOD LUCK

WELL IM INTRESTED IN MCBAM!!! I WONDER IN THE FUTURE IS GONNA BE INVOLVE

WITH SAM? WHAT ABOUT SAM GETS PREGAGNT BY MCBAIN? AND SHE HAS 2 CHILDREN

1BY JASON AND 1 BY JOHN MCBAIN?……I DONT THINK THEY GOT TIME FOR THAT…

I REALLY WANT TO SEE THE DYNAMICS BETWEEN JOHN AND SAM :-)PLEASE DONT PUT

SAM WITH PATRICK….I WOULD LIKE TO SEE JOHN AND SAM!!!

KUDOS TO THE CASTING DIRECTOR!!!! THE CHILD WHO PROTRAYS DANIEL MORGAN

LOOKS LIKE JASON MORGAN!! BRAVO!!

THE WRITING IS GETTING BETTER
THE SHOW IS FABO!!!

I CANT WAIT FOR TOMORROW!!

John & Sam I am not sure about that combination being together…….

Steve Burton was wonderful with the Baby Daniel Edward

So heart warming!,,

He was amazing as always. I want him to stay, please come back soon.

I have been watching GH since the Luke and Laura era, I am going to have a hard time watching this week and seeing Jason’s death, I was hoping they would have just written him out some how and not killed him off!! It is a very sad week!!

If you look at the info ahead for Gh (thurs. episode)… It mentions Jason’s name…That’s
all I will say.. Check it out for yourself… I alway’s fast forward the T. V. guide for the wk. to see ahead of time what will be going on GH for the week….I hope JASON MAKES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean there is a possibility that he survives?? I saw on one site they said “that the events that happen at the dock changes everyone for good” so I assumed that he is dead, but you never know in soap opera land.

I am not sure all I know his name was mentioned on thurs. Episode Which I fast
forwarded to on the T V guide……….

In honor of Steve Burton’s final episode , here’s tribute to Jason and Steve. Why we love Jason …he’s Sam’s husband, Danny’s father, , a hero, he rides that motorcycle, looks so handsome in black leather, he loves children, he only kills the bad guys that truly deserve it, he’s super cool , he has those baby blue eyes that can convince, condemn, and console, he can speak a thousand words without saying a word and he always saves the girl in trouble. So rest in peace Jason Morgan or at least until Steve Burton decides to return and it can’t be soon enough for us. Thank you Steve for giving us 21 years of your best , we wish the best but will miss you nonetheless because General Hospital and Port Charles just won’t be the same without you. On October 22, 2012 Steve Burton and Jason Morgan check out of Port Charles. Tissues ready everyone?

I was a fan of Jason and sam and its hard to see you go I just hope they either write the script for a possible return or find someone to take his place

Rumors has it that Sean Kanans taking his place as you know they are talking about a look alike and Mention Sean Kanans for taking on the role of Jason Morgan

I didn’t watch today’s show yet and I’m not sure I’m going to. Its killing my Jasam loving heart . The show just won’t be the same without Jason.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
