The Young and the Restless to Mark Joshua Morrow’s 30th Anniversary Milestone with Special Episode

Published

Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), who has always been one of the MVP’s of the storied history of The Young and the Restless, is about to celebrate his 30th anniversary with the top-rated daytime drama series.

Hard to believe Morrow has spent three decades in Genoa City, but time flies. To honor Morrow, the soap opera will be airing a special episode filled with “Nick Newman and his family” flashbacks through 30 years, and the best part, they are actually airing the show on the day of Joshua’s actual Y&R anniversary.

So, circle Friday, June 21st for the standalone episode. Morrow spoke on his gratitude towards Y&R with TV Guide in their latest issue, “Just the fact that they would be willing to do something like that made me feel very proud. It hits you what an incredible ride this has been. I feel like I’m not worth it, like I’m going to wake up and this has all been a dream.”

Those who know Joshua are aware of what a big college and pro sports guy he is. Speaking on the path his life has taken him, Morrow shared “If you would have told me when I was a sophomore in high school in Oklahoma just playing football, ‘You will have a had a 30-year career on a television show,’ I would have thought you were joking!”  Joshua added, “It’s an incredible accomplishment and one I never take for granted.”

Y&R viewers will recall that Nick is the second child of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scot and was born in 1988. For six years, the character was portrayed by child actors, and then all of sudden, Nick was SORAS’d (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) and in 1994 he was now a teen, played by Morrow.

Throughout Joshua’s time in GC, he has been one-half of the soap supercouple known as “Shick” with Sharon Case (Sharon), as well as has been part of another popular duo with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) know as “Phick.”

Are you excited to see Y&R honor Joshua Morrow’s 30-year anniversary with a Nick-centric episode? What have been some of your favorite Nick Newman moments through the years? Comment below.

Special anniversary episodes on Y and R usually mean – bad news for the actors – Remember Esther’s, Michael’s, Loren’s? After that they have lucky to get 3 – 6 minutes of air time each calendar quarter. Bet Josh will be spending more father son time with his unseen son Christian… it’s thanks to a fast forward I still somewhat watch the show….

Don’t forget Sharon. Phyllis isn’t fairing any better, because all she does now is get involved in her kids lives. Nick hasn’t had his own storyline since he was involved with Sally.

He definitely deserves the honor of a special episode 30 years is quite an accomplishment the flashbacks should be fun Shick is the end game

I’d love a storyline that has Nick reconsider and rebuild his life. A slow burn romance with Sharon that pays off. A personal question that males him A Newman unlike the others. He is poised for that. I’d like to see him with his children. A good man challenged by his fortune and positioning not protected by it.

Pretty boy all grown up

Another character the head writer can’t think of a story line for him to act in. Shame. He’s so back burnered you sometimes wonder if he’s still on the show.

True, he’s always no. three behind Victoria and Adam.If he was in a horseback, he’d come in last.

Joshua Morrow has always been a favorite. Would love to see him meet up with Larry Wharton, who befriended Nick many years ago, in prison when he was falsely accused of killing Matt Clark. Also, would like see the writers develop a SL with Christain whom he’s raising as his own son, who in reality is Adam’s biological son. Everyone knows the situation, but it’s never mentioned , don’t even know if the boy knows the real truth, I can’t even remember his age now. They haven’t shown this kid since Chelsea and Conner lived with Nick and his son.

Genie Francis Welcomes Back Her TV Son Jonathan Jackson to General Hospital: “I Am Overjoyed”

The one and only Genie Francis (Laura Collins) has made her first public statement on the upcoming arrival of her television son, Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer) back to General Hospital. Jackson has been away from the show since 2011 and made a return in 2015 for a limited-run.

Now, both Jonathan and Genie have made no bones about the fact that they are so looking forward to reuniting on-screen. Taking to her account on X on Tuesday, following last week’s excitement of the news of Jackson’s return, Francis expressed, “Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back. I am overjoyed! Can’t wait to work with you again.”

Previously, Genie has mentioned that one of the happiest of times during her enduring run on GH was when she was in 30’s and working with a young Jonathan Jackson. Francis shared, “I loved working with Jonathan Jackson. When it was just the three of us, that was so fun, because it wasn’t just Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura. It was Luke, Laura and Lucky, and he was every bit as strong as we were. It was great. I loved that.”

Jackson first played Genie’s on-screen son at 11-years-old. He also attributes one of the reasons he chose to return to the ABC daytime drama series was getting the opportunity to work with Francis again. Jonathan shared those sentiments when he took to social media and expressed that he was “excited to see Genie Francis, obviously.”

However, Jackson and Francis have not worked together for almost 25 years, making this all the more sweet for the two beloved longtime GH favorites. When Jonathan returned to GH for his last major run from 2009-2011, Genie was not part of the cast. In 2015, during his short run, the two briefly intersected. Look for Lucky’s on-screen return to happen later this summer.

So, are you excited to see Genie and Jonathan in scenes together again? Do you hope Lucky is involved in a major story with Laura? Comment below.

Days of our Lives fans are counting down to just how Nicole’s story come to its conclusion on the Peacock streaming soap opera, knowing that her portrayer, Arianne Zucker, is exiting the show on-screen on the July 29th episode. In the meantime, the actress had been busy shooting a new project.

Arianne revealed on social media that she just completed filming a role in the upcoming horror film, Memec. According to IMDb, Memec’s story is centered around how a struggling impressionist and a contract for fame take center stage, as the battle for a good man’s soul takes the spotlight.

In Memec, Zucker plays the role of “The Madam” and she shared some stunning photos from the set via her Instagram. Accompanying the post Arianne said, “Amazing time filming on Memec the Film. I feel so fortunate to have played this delicious character! I could not have asked to be part of a better cast and crew! Thank you for making feel at home! ❤️ Can’t wait to see it!” @polahaha #memecfilm #vantriloquist #scarymovieseason

Memec also has another Days of our Lives connection to it. The film’s director Kristoffer Poloha, who also stars in the film, is married to none other than Julianne Morris (ex-Greta Von Amberg). In addition, the cast of Memec includes Saturday Night Live alum, Chris Parnell. The official film Instagram account, posted a day ago, “Something Has Begun” with a movie slate which definitely has a horror-film vibe.

CurrentZucker is embroiled in a lawsuit against her former employer, Corday Productions over claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, negligent hiring and supervision, and wrongful termination.

Looking forward to seeing Arianne in her role in “Memec” the movie, once it completes production and gets a release date? Any more thoughts on how Nicole exits the canvas since Zucker herself revealed the character is not being killed-off? Comment below.
