Sharon Case (Sharon Case) has a one-two punch of scenes for Emmy contention for the Outstanding Lead Actress category after Thursday’s riveting episode, and Friday on her 30th anniversary airshow with the top-rated soap opera.

Standalone episodes are often hard to pull off because in soapland they are often held to high standards. When they are good, and showcase the performer and take us down memory lane with a choice selection of flashbacks; fans love it and the episode is golden. Other times, standalone episodes have disappointed as they are a time-out for the current story and predicament the character finds themselves in now, or the flashbacks and the tone of the writing just doesn’t fit together as nicely as viewers would have hoped.

However, on the Friday, September 27th episode, Sharon visits the grave of her daughter, Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who’s death has been a driver for story on Y&R for years. None more so in current times for Sharon, who is struggling with her sanity, her bipolar disorder, and a thirst for revenge on Daniel Romalotti (Michae Graziadei) who she feels was responsible or a key part in the accident that took Cassie’s life.

As viewers saw on the precursor to the standalone episode, if what we saw on-screen remains true, and does not turn out to be something Sharon dreamt up in her mind, she had a confrontation with Heather (Vail Bloom), and Heather ended up hitting her head and dying on the floor of Daniel’s apartment. At that time, with her alter-ego (the dead) Cameron Kirsten advising her to clean up the mess, she winds up taking Heather’s body and disposing it over a bridge!

In the pick up in Case’s anniversary episode, a worn down and tortured Sharon visits her daughter’s gravesite and she reflects back on her life with a selection of scenes in the flashbacks that to tell the ups and downs of her often tragic past. A tortured Sharon, who can’t believe what she just did Heather, asks Cassie, that since has always been her guiding light to, “Help me understand how I did what I did. Help me to know what to do.”

Sharon says to Cassie, “Is this the culmination of my life? “Have I always been like this?” Cue the flashbacks, first to her mother Doris (Karen Hensel), in her wheelchair. It’s there that Sharon first learned that her mother wound up unable to walk because she went chasing after Sharon on a rainy night in her car to try to stop her from seeing her then-boyfriend, Frank. Sharon has carried that guilt for years.

Next, Sharon recalls her love story with Nick (Joshua Morrow) and falling in love with him, and her rivalry with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who never accepted her. Sharon tells Cassie that she and Nick always managed to find their way back to each other, even when he left her for Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). She and Nick have an unshakeable bond that has always been there.

In very heart-tugging scenes/flashbacks, Sharon learns she had a child Cassie who was given up for adoption, and later, we see Nick and Sharon tell little Cassie they are going to adopt her. Cassie is thrilled and we all recall what a great actress, a young Camryn Grimes was, and why when the show killed Cassie off it broke our hearts into pieces, as it did to Sharon and Nick forever. Sharon pulls out a photo at Cassie’s gravesite of the three of them together in happier times that she carries with her, always.

Next, Sharon remembers shoplifting, and burning down the Newman ranch and learning of her mental illness. “I was in the deep throes of bipolar disorder, and I didn’t even know it,” she admits to Cassie. Later, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) arrives on the scene. Sharon flashes to the difficult times they had getting to know each other and to accept each other as mother and daughter, after Nick gave her the news that she had not one, but two, daughters when she gave birth all those years ago.

Sharon tells Cassie that although Mariah resisted her at every turn, she knew that Cassie would want her to persevere. “Things got easier after that, and I grew to accept Mariah for the special, unique person that she is. Mariah is your twin, which means that a part of her is inside of her for me to love and hold onto. For that, I will always be grateful.” Then, she realizes that being mom to Faith (Reylynn Caster), Mariah, and Noah has helped her move forward in her life.

While Sharon thought back to her accomplishments of buying Crimson Lights, getting a job from the late Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) at Jabot and graduating college, she then relieved some of her more harrowing moments from: Matt Clark’s rape, to one of the scenes that had us reaching for the hankies, when Sharon finds out from Nick that Rey died in a car accident.

As Sharon comes out of her flashbacks, she says to Cassie, “I’m a survivor, and no one could ever say that I never loved my children with my whole heart.” But then she added, “When I heard that Daniel had moved back to Genoa City, I thought so many years had passed that I could handle it.” She admits she wasn’t prepared for the rage she felt and how she wanted to hurt him, saying, “And I almost did.”

That’s the key point where the current story was tied into the anniversary episode when Sharon thinks back to Heather’s ‘death”, saying, “I must have blacked out,” as she can’t remember what happened. She says to Cassie, “Should I just turn myself in? Confess to my crime and end this madness?”

At the end of the episode, Sharon shows up at home to a worried, Nick, Mariah and Faith. Nick asks Sharon, “Are you alright? Where have you been?” Sharon tells them she’s OK, and that everything is going to be OK. Leaving us wondering what will her next move be?

I have never been more sick of a character than Cassie. Enough, enough! Tons of kids have died on soaps & nobody has been mourned more than Cassie. And I hope to never see the dead Cameron in his bloody shirt again. I have been fast forwarding through most of the last 3 days. Move on.

Well, I do agree that the obsession with Cassie is coming at the expense of Mariah, who despite being alive, has become the invisible child. But when a parent loses a child, that loss becomes part of who they are- they never get over it. That said, Sharon Case is hitting it out of the ballpark as far as her emotionally compelling performance is concerned. I actually put Y&R back on my DVR just to see her give a master class on acting and she delivered.

Take your own advice and move on from your dislike of Sharon.

The one glaring part in all this was no flashbacks of Noah and her I still can’t figure out why the can’t cast a Noah? He is needed acted like he did not even exist Noah was a baby when they found out Cassie was Sharon’s /Grace her best friend who was after Nick all the time anyway she went in search for Cassie because they thought Noah was going to die. She pretended Cassie was hers remember all that great storyline . Where is Sharon’s Mom personally nothing g against Case because I like her but I have no idea why JG is writing her in this mess

JG writer needs to go like yesterday, he’s awful. He got rid of Gina T and I will never know why this man thinks he is GOD. WAKE UP CBS! He had an awesome daytime wining actress on set. How dumb is he well Adele you got it all right in your comments. Sharon Case though did an outstanding job with scripts handled to her, 30 years way to go!

Denis I would not be a recast for anything because you always get screwed over I felt Gina was too young by pairing her with PB but yes I prefer her acting Stafford is too over the top but hell they gave her a Emmy for last year I thought she was horrible I felt sorry for Walters/Dianne anyway Gina has the best chemistry with JT’s version of Bill. I have a sister with bi-polar JG is sooo totally of the mark with this disease if anything Sharon would be trying to harm herself. My sister was in for two months last year she was seeing visions etc we truly thought we had lost her but we had great doctors that helped her she is back home her son is living with her we have help come by twice a week to make sure she is on her meds. So I’m insulted families do know the signs they would have seeked out her doctor someone would be a POA allowed to talk with Dr etc it’s insulting I know it’s a soap but this is the third mental illness enough is enough.

Don’t you think your last sentence was a little dense, especially when this SL is about Sharon?

Was so boring and uninteresting, had to keep FF. Nice seeing the Young Cam’ron Grimes and Doris.Hope this is the end. Send her to the mental hosp., where she can get help, instead of destroying lives

i personally enjoyed it and have enjoyed all the episodes lately..finally a bit of intrigue, not the same old mind numbing crap..Kudos to Sharron Case..her acting skills are truly showing here..fantastic job girl..i know lots of complainers but I am not one of them 🙂

Absolutely love this storyline and can’t wait for the next twist. Sharon blacked out, thus she didn’t kill Heather. Somebody else did. People who find this storyline boring would rather watch Devon and Nate sit around a table at Crimson Lights talking about their jobs.

Episode was nice but where was Noah

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Has Dylan’s Mystery Caller/Stalker Been Revealed to Be an Alive Luna Nozawa?

Published

By

We have another scream machine on her hands at The Bold and the Beautiful after the dramatic ending of the May 1 episode, and that would be Dylan (Sydney Bullock)!

B&B is finally making some headway on just who was the person behind the mystery call that Dylan received telling her they have some “unfinished business.” At the time of the mysterious call, it was clear that the voice was altered to disguise the true identify of the person on the the other line.

On today’s show, after Dylan and Electra (Laneya Grace) exchange words in the wardrobe room about Dylan wanting to rebuild their trust and friendship and how Electra has issues stemming from way back trusting anyone after what Remy (Christian Weissmanm) did to her by befriending her and then plastering deep fake nude photos of her across social media.

Photo: JPI

The timing of Electra bringing up Remy is also interesting to us, as we had previously reported now that Christian Weissmann is back and on on contract with The Bold and the Beautiful, he’s already teased that Remy has another connection to someone on the canvas, which many are still believing its Dylan.

At the end of the episode, after Electra leaves the room, Dylan hears noises coming from behind the dress rack. She asks, “Jamie” is that with you? After no answer and a bit more hangar and dress ruffling, a figure steps out behind it, while Dylan is looking down at her tablet trying to get back to work.

When Dylan looks up, she lets out a scream that could be heard to Nebraska, as viewers see partial view of what looks to be a woman with long dark hair from the back. Dylan in shock, says, “It’s you!” We fade to black.

So, what’s going on here? Is the reason the caller said to her that we have “unfinished business” because on Monday, it will be revealed to actually be an alive and well, Luna (Lisa Yamada)? Did the two strikes some sort of deal, that allowed Dylan to help Luna escape after Luna supposedly died after Dylan ran her down with her car, which was all off-screen? Another theory, is the mystery caller is Remy and he is doing some sort of Luna fakeout on Dylan for a yet to be revealed reason.

What do you think is going on? Did Lisa Yamada just make an on-screen return to The Bold and the Beautiful? Share your thoughts and theories below, but first check out our recent interview from back in March on the Michael Fairman Channel when Lisa who attended the BBTV app launch party.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Nick Confesses His Drug Problem to Victor; Joshua Morrow, Mark Grossman, Eric Braeden Bring the Newman Bond

Published

on

By

When The Young and the Restless can deliver an emotional side to their stories and their family dynamics, it usually makes for some great scenes delivered by their A-list cast.

Such was the case on the Friday, May 1 episode when Adam (Mark Grossman) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) returned to Genoa City and gave their father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), an update on what had gone down with Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) in Las Vegas.

As Victor questioned, “What the hell happened?” Nick piped up, “We both made mistakes along the way, but we’re here now and we’re sorry for giving you so much worry on top of everything else that you’re dealing with,” which was in reference to Victor trying to reclaim his company Newman Enterprises et al.

Courtesy/CBS

NICK’S CONFESSION

Next, Nick, explains one of the ways he messed up while trying to go after Matt Clark, when he admitted to this father with tears in his eyes, “That’s one of the ways I messed up … I took Fentanyl willingly. Some of it was because of Matt, but most of it was on me. I was in a lot of pain, dad, after my accident, I was burning through my prescription meds really quickly after I left the hospital. I could see that it was becoming a problem. But honestly, I thought that I could manage it.  I was wrong. I was out in LA and Matt had taken Noah (Lucas Adams) and Sienna (Tamara Braun) and he gave me this bag of pills and said I could use it to trade for information. When I went out to that drug warehouse, he was trying to convince me and Sharon (Sharon Case) that Noah was a drug addict. I just put the pills in my pocket of my jacket and I came back to Genoa City and I was in a lot of pain, dad, and I was wearing that jacket. I put my hands in the pocket and the pills were there.”

Nick sadly added, “I was desperate. I couldn’t get anymore prescription meds, so I took the fentanyl  I’m deeply ashamed that I was so weak, but all I can do is stand here and tell you the truth that I’m going to make this right and I’ll get better.”

BROTHER TO BROTHER

Adam stood up for his brother and reconfirmed to Victor the plan for help Nick through his pill addiction, “Nick is already on his way to doing that. Sharon has set up an appointment with an outpatient facility. He’s going to do the meetings and he’s going to push through this better than ever.”

Courtesy/CBS

“You should also know that the only reason I’m standing here is because of Adam,” Nick confessed to Victor. “Every time I fell, you were there to pick me up. You risked your life to save me, and that’s not something I will ever forget.”

In the climatic and emotional ending of the scene, Nick in tears admits his shame to his dad, who comes in to give him hug. Nick says, “I’m so sorry. I know that this is the last thing you or this family needs.”

All three actors, Joshua Morrow, Mark Grossman and Eric Braeden, were excellent in this exchange in their scenes, but at its epicenter continues to be the Emmy-worthy performances by Y&R MVP, Joshua Morrow. Nick’s heartbreaking journey and fall from grace with his pill addiction problem has finally shown the clinks in the armor of the man who is always on the ready to help others … now he needs to let others help him through this. Can we do it?

So, what did you think of the scenes between the Newman man featuring Joshua, Mark and Eric on the Friday episode of Y&R? And though who watched also know that at the very end, Matt Clark who clearly has been injured wakes up from being conked out, so there is more revenge to come on the Newman clan. Share your thoughts below, but take a look at these scenes from a Canadian viewers who saw them air yesterday.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sophia Seemingly Plans to End Her Life, But Not Before Setting Fire to Johnny’s Apartment With Him Trapped Inside

Published

By

The final few moments of the Thursday, April 30 episode of Days of our Lives, will pave the way, to what just may be the end of Sophia Choi’s (Rachel Boyd) life, but not as you may think!

After an unhinged Sophia paid a visit to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), maced him in the eyes, knocked him out and then tied up to a chair, now conscious, she lets him know that she holds him responsible for all the trouble and trauma she has gone through from adopting her child, and her being sent to a mental institution.

So instead of the unregistered gun Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) gave her to finish off Johnny, Sophia sets up a plan to light candle, use nail polish remover and turn on the gas on the stove to ultimately create a mass explosion, which although Johnny pleaded to her not to that to all the innocent people inside his apartment building, she doesn’t seem to care.

Photo: JPI

FIERY FACE OFF

The plan was supposed to be, after she takes care of Johnny she will toss the gun in the Salem River, then focus on payback to Holly Jonas before leaving town to start a new life.

Now, Sophia makes her exit, leaving Johnny to be a few moments away from an explosion or gas inhalation, when Chanel (Raven Bowens) comes home after awaiting the results of her mammogram. She sees Johnny tied up, as he panics and tells her to put out the flame on the candle, things go awry, and a fire has begun and everything may go up in flames with Johnny and Chanel inside.

Photo: JPI

A BROKEN SOPHIA

Back in her room, Sophia breaks down after reading the social media comments about her, she planted, and then starts writing a suicide or farewell note which says. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes. All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that. Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her. So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.”

Photo: JPI

A DEADLY TRAP

Now, the fate of Johnny, Chanel and Sophia will be revealed on tomorrow’s May 1st cliffhanger, which may be the end of Sophia when she crosses paths with Kirsten at the bridge near the river. We do know Rachel Boyd is no longer appearing in the show credits section and is now off contract with the soap.

So, what did you think of the climatic final moments of DAYS? What did you think of the performance of Rachel Boyd as Sophia Choi? Let us know via the comment section.
