LOL, I’d honestly like for Rafe to return as a vampire. Not gonna happen, but I could dream… I’d love to see the vampires in Port Charles thing end for good. All the players are there… Lucy. Silas. Sam. Now, all we need is to bring back Rafe and his dad, Stephen Clay AKA Caleb Morely, and maybe the original angel Rafe, his adoptive father.
Actually… better not. LOL. RIP, Rafe. I’ll miss that kid. He was awkward and sweaty, and constantly eating. It was one of the truest portrayals of a teenager on television.
tony did an interview & said he will be back in october – he is recuperating from two serious back surgeries – he will be doing several phone scenes
I read Luke is off for a while. Anthony has had some severe back problems, and had back surgery and recovery to deal with, and has been resting at his home in Amsterdam.
I did read somewhere he might be leaving for good but i dont always believe everything i read so hopefully he will return and at least finish this storyline…now im hearing Levi may be flukes son?
You quote a lot of alleged rumors but where are you getting these from? I’ve never read anything about Geary leaving for good. In fact he said he was having the time of his life playing this story.
I thought i replied but i dont see it here unless it comes later: i dont see it as qouting alleged rumors but asking one plain and simple question from reading other sites and a mag from my doctors office…TG did say he enjoyed playing the fluke role but with his back problems and all i still wonder if he will definately return…i suffer from severe back problems so i know what thats like and ive given up on a lot i like to do…i was a little groggy from meds when i read those things so perhaps i misunderstood…i will wait and see what happens…i do hope he returns as plan…TG has done an amazing job in his dual role and should be an emmy winner next year!!!

I love, love, love this show. I get so giddy with excitement when it comes on, that I start tap dancing in front of the television while screaming , ‘GH RULES! My neighbors in the apartment below know not to be home at two o’clock and my dog has run away.
Ron deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for soap opera writing. I find it appalling he hasn’t received one yet.

@jimh…..I too, am a great fan of Harry’s rapier sharp wit….it is often far more entertaining than the topic at hand. However, I do wonder if he’s creating a monster in that sparring partner of his….she seems to feed off of all that brilliantly-put negative reinforcement that he is so good at dishing out on a daily basis! Plus, it’s just not a fair fight…he brings his clever, vocabulary-laden daisycutters and she a slingshot with platitudinal pebbles.

I’ve been saying that Sabrina shouldn’t go back with Patrick because he left her literally at the alter…for Robin. Now that is NOTHING…compared to how pathetic it would be for Carly to go back to Sonny. The man literally threatened to kill her if Olivia died…and yet she’s been his loyal puppy dog as usual. I think if anything on the show bothers me that would be it. Sonny has fathered children with Olivia, Carly and Alexis. And yet Carly acts as if they have a special bond because of their children…don’t know why the writers have made it so.
The only way they can keep Maura West on the show is if they send her to jail for a limited time and then get her out on a loophole or something. We know Sonny won’t kill her.
I like Shawn and Jordan. I think they could make for a very interesting storyline…we still don’t know the truth about TJ’s dad…is he alive…does Shawn think he killed him..if so, what really happened.
I still love Scott and Lucy. Would like to see them have more airtime.
Still haven’t heard confirmation if Tony Geary’s leaving…so it should be interesting to see how it all plays out. I’d like to see him on the canvas as Luke a bit before he goes…I’d hate to have Fluke be his swan song…too eerie.
The only reason you would want to pair Sonny & Carly back together is if the wonderful Tamara Braun was still playing Carly. Off the charts chemistry between those two not been the same since she left.
I agree Tamara was amazing (though i do think Laura’s great in the role and made it her own). But I think regardless of who plays Carly that whole death threat from Sonny was pretty intense and totally out of character. I could see him scared out of his mind at losing Olivia…I could see him pissed and wanting revenge…but to Carly? One of the mother’s of his children who he’s had nothing on the show with other than love, lust, attachment and a get-on-each other’s-nerves but always have each other’s backs relationship? Didn’t make sense…and I think the aftermath of that threat should have been delved into more. He apologized, she accepted and they moved on. I don’t know, someone makes a threat like that…it’d kinda difficult to get past…
Uhh, Tamara had some unique qualities about her and definitely made the role of Carly her own- but no one can compare to the one and only original Carly, Sarah Brown! The best, the first, and the irreplaceable Brown who can absolutely chew up the scenery and spit it out is not only the best actress ever on GH, but one of the best actressess on the planet!
Hi Rebecca. I’m a pretty faithful watcher…and I don’t recall Sonny ever apologizing for threatening to murder Carly. What I find so gross and misogynistic about this is….Carly and Bobbie are mother and daughter. While talking to Ava recently, Carly actually bragged about Sonny threatening to murder her! What a brain dead moronic stupid trashy mob moll Carly is. She proudly said something like “He threatened to murder me….and I’m the mother of his child. What do you think he is going to do to you?”. And Bobbie….during a fight with Lucy the other day, she actually bragged about being a whore on the past!!! Really good writing there pals!!

Better yet, k/kay, combine those two elements! I wouldn’t miss any of those dames, and while you’re at it, make absolutely sure Alexis, Jordan, Bobbie, Sappy and Gross-alie are in there, too!!!! (I would consider that a total bonus!!!!) But seriously, the show needs a wholesale clear out, either by bombs-a-dropping or epidemic breakout…the cast is so laden with deadweight that it fails to even be interesting most days. Simply reading a recap generally suffices.
Also get rid of Lucas, Brad and Felix…the worse triangle ever going back and forth with each other: Brad and Felix, Brad and Lucas, Felix and Lucas, and so on…an uniteresting plot with three boring characters that goes nowhere…doesnt connect to other characters and plots…just a mindless filler and totally pointless!!!
@ Shay Just so you and everyone else on here who posts I am having fun with most of this but at the same point I am saddened by the quality of the last 4 remaining soaps! With that being said here is how I handle a stressful situation I find myself in when I am watching a soap that is driving me crazy. I handle it like my little female dog if she can not play with it or she can not eat it she pees on it and walks away. 🙂
@jimh…I don’t mind Brad and Lucas, as I think they could expand their mutual mob heritage and big bad babydaddies into an interesting storyline that would connect today’s canvas to some interesting characters and history of the past, but for the life of me, I cannot abide the presence of Felix. He is a third-wheel in that trio and an annoying busybody in all other aspects. Who died and made him social director for the nurses’ dating lives? It was bad enough (REALLY bad….) the way he obsessed on and constantly assisted Sappy in her non-stop pursuit of Patrick—-to the detriment of his own personal relationships, no less—-but there he was the other day acting in the exact same capacity for Liz at the kiddie camp during her petty little competition with Britt over Nik. It were as if they just substituted RH for Sobby to give the tiresome, one-note Mr. DuBois something to do. Well, those who can do and those who can’t, interfere in others’ business. I’ve had enough of this nosy, unappealing gadfly….wish they would send him off along with his sickening sidekick for a permanent vacay instead of bringing her back to drag down the show once again.!
“Laden with dead weight”. How completely accurate!!!!!!!!! There are at least 15 characters who could be written off tomorrow and no one would miss them or care. Say what you will about Jill Farren Phelps but she came onto Y and R and quickly got rid of a lot of characters that just weren’t working in pretty short order. None of them got s grand send off they just left town. Maria Bell bloated the cast with top flight talent from other shows but underdeveloped characters and bad writing will do in even the best of actors. Like…who the hell is this Rosalie person and why is she on every day and why does she threaten and bully teenagers and why are they bringing her into Morgan’s orbit??
@k/kay….Well, not being a pet person, I will have to take your word for doggie behavior, but I feel as though that is what has happened to our soaps, particularly GH, courtesy of Ron C. and company. Hence, one needs to find some humor (even dark…) in the situation, or else we’d simply cry!!!! (And for the record, I already have one foot out the door….my viewing is becoming more and more infrequent. I just keep hoping that improvement, no matter how minute, might still happen…..)
Shay, maybe Brad and Lucas would be ok if Felix was out of the picture but for now this tiresome triangle goes nowhere and has no real connection to the other storylines…now if Lucas had been bisexual and slept with Sabrina…just teasing, i wont go there…lol…anyway i did like Brad at one time and his performance at the nurses ball but having Brad fall for Felix then sleeping with Lucas and then Lucas with Felix and none of them knowing whom they really want to be with is just too much for me to stomach…if it comes to an end with just Brad and Lucas and move on…i might change my mind about them!!!
@jimh….Exactly! We are on the same page…..I find the insertion of Felix into this storyline too much to bear, too….it is yet another gratuitous waste of time. There was no mutual chemistry or compelling reason for it to happen, it was merely an exercise in futility to occupy the intrusive Mr. DuBois until his BFF Sappy (ICK!) returns so he can run her life again…..without her he is like a lost puppy with no other purpose in life. In general, I don’t like triangles, unless they have truly appealing parties with real conflicts and strong motivations for their existence…..not just petty revenge….I don’t see that here. It’s bed-hopping for the superficial sake of being provocative and expedient in the short-run, and that IS tedious. Hence, you are right that there should be some sort of tie-in to a greater means to an end here, but then again, that’s what I cannot abide in this show…we have too many useless freestanding filler “vignettes” that have nothing to do with anything other than wasting space….and with each added newbie there are more and more of them!!! When Brad and Lucas began their fling, there seemed to be a method to the madness of putting them together….they had some family dynamics in common and it appeared that they were going to draw upon that shared aspect, with a nod to GH’s historical crime clans….an interesting notion, indeed. Now that issue apparently has been discarded like so many other ideas that are bandied about with huge fanfare, then ultimately tossed away with the wind. It is not a good way to keep people engaged, that’s for sure. As for Lucas, I thought they initially brought him on to reconnect him with the hospital in a future employment capacity….so far nothing on that front either. It’s as if the fact that there is a medical facility that is supposed to be directly linked to the action of “GH” is often forgotten! It is now a minor backdrop to the glorious mob sagas we are treated to on a daily basis, only to be incorporated when triage for a casualty is required!

Actually, they did make promises, su000, and no more mob was one of them. However, I’ll say this much: it may not be their fault that the mob has come back so strongly. Everyone should keep in mind that although they undoubtedly do play a large part in the decision making, neither Ron nor Frank has the final word. ABC still owns the show, and though Brian Frons may be gone, I don’t see any evidence that his successors meddle less, or have better ideas about what the show should be, than he did. I’d lay money that both the mob resurgence and the “Hey! Let’s bring back Roger Howarth as FRANCO! What a great idea!” debacle are the result of network decisions; they both have network-think written all over them (i.e., what network suits who don’t have any idea what soap audiences really want would think would be a great idea, as opposed to what viewers really want to see). And if the ABC bosses say X, Ron and Frank get paid to make it happen.
I’d second Johnny’s page for Riche and Labine, except that they’re the ones that gave us Sonny in the first place. They did keep the mob elements in better balance with other aspects of the show, however, so on that count I’d like to see them back. But it’s not happening. Claire’s retired, don’t know what Riche is up to, but the ratings are in reasonably good shape (better than when Ron and Frank took over, for sure), and Frank is known for bringing his shows in under budget, so my bet is that they’re not going anywhere. And even if they did, whoever would be behind them would probably be even less satisfactory.
By the way, which old Qs were asked to return and did not want to? I hadn’t heard that bit of news.

What 60 year old women act like Lucy and Bobbie????? What a disgusting degrading portrayal of two women who were able to overcome an acrimonious past and bond through their shared tragedy of BJ’s death. And for Bobbie to proudly throw her hooker past in Lucy’s face as a form of bragging just about decimates every shred of dignity this character has earned over the past 36 years. Before they think about rolling on the floor fighting…they should be worried about breaking a hip. I wish Ron wrote characters instead of caricatures. I almost wish he would not have brought any of the vets at all as he has trashed all of them and ruined what was a glorious legacy…Scott…Felicia…Lucy…Anna…Duke…they are all written as complete morons…only on screen to prop whatever new creation they are trying to push. yesterday’s episode was absolutely painful to watch from start to finish!!

Johnny….I always enjoy your posts of moral indignation in regard to GH and its continual downhill trajectory in that respect, but on this particular thread you are on a right roll!!!! The revisionist aspects of every legacy character we have known and often loved in Port Charles over these lo so many decades is beyond reprehensible…it has left longtime favorites as nothing more than unrecognizable, inconsistent puppet-like figures prone to idiotic after idiotic action! Everyone, no matter their age or station in life, must now be a reprobate or deviant in some way…there are no adult role models, practically no two-parent nuclear families and the children often have more common sense than their fathers, or more precisely, their single mothers. (Of which a number have the glorious distinction of earning the 3X3 designation….three offspring via the same number of different babydaddies.) It seems that every form of dysfunction currently affecting society is being proudly and loudly proclaimed and represented on the GH canvas, and the only missing element is the one of normality and decency. Of course, I recognize that soaps have always been a breeding ground for unsavory behaviors and outre’ plot twists….that is their calling card! However, these undesirable, over-the-top antics were once judiciously doled out and exquisitely performed amongst the arch villain, town bad girl, society witch, ne’er do well rich kid, etc…..they were never the order of the day for the entire population of a given soap city! Where are the Steve and Audreys, the Lee and Gails—even the Edward and Lilas, Alan and Monicas, and Rick and Lesleys, albeit with personal shortcomings– providing a loving, stable atmosphere for their immediate and extended families???? It’s as if Port Charles is on one continual happy acid trip, and that those of us who utter dismay over this sick development are the odd men (and women) out!!!! At least it’s a joy and comfort to share these views with a few others like yourself who so eloquently express their disgust over the sorry, surreal state of this once-venerable show!!!! Keep up the good work, Johnny!!!! P.S. Yes, exactly who is this “Gross-alie” person, indeed, and why are we being subjected to her obnoxious presence and unnecessary mingling with the local denizens???? She is one of the most ill-bred, grating and appalling creatures to darken GH in recent years, and why???? It is uncanny how in tune this current regime is with what the viewers want!!! We have been begging for at least 20 years to showcase more and heightened mob violence….more innocent women and teenagers being brutally murdered…more shootouts….am am so glad they are finally listening to what the majority of viewers want!!!

I AGREE WITH YOU SUSAN, I CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOW MAXIE KEEPS FALLING FOR HIS CRAP.
There was never any doubt that in watching the riveting and emotional scenes on General Hospital which featured Finola Hughes as a PTSD-driven and mentally tortured Anna Devane, that when the climatic moments in Anna’s story aired, that we would not be singing the praises of Hughes. Once again, Finola showcased why she is one of the soap opera genres greatest assets and actresses.
In the key scenes, Anna has had a complete breakdown as she has lured and cornered Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) on Mount Emerson, and even thought through how she would kill her and cover it up, all thanks to hearing the voice and seeing a dead man, Peter August (Wes Ramsey). It’s visions of Peter that keeps egging Anna on to pull the trigger on Britt while in her delusional state.
Before Britt realizes that Anna trapped her in meeting her in Mount Emerson, she is very confused as to why she was all the way out in the boondocks to talk about what happened to her brother, Cassius Faison. However, Britt soon learned that what Anna was about to do is personal, and not professional, as she pulls the gun on her.

ANNA FIRES HER GUN IN GAME-CHANGING MOMENT
When Jason (Steve Burton) shows up to save the say, he tries to talk Anna off the ledge, begging her to not shoot Britt and make one of the greatest mistakes of his life. When Jason figured out Anna felt she needed to kill anyone related to Cesar Faison, he made her think twice, because that would mean, she also would need to end the lives of two of Maxie’s children, James and Bailey Lu.
Anna can’t stop seeing hallucinations of Peter pushing her to shoot Britt. Suddenly and completely overcome, Anna fires bullets straight in the direction of where she sees Peter as she declares this all must end tonight.
After the shots are fired, Anna realized what she had done and just sobbed and shook. It was a devastating and heartbreaking moment for longtime General Hospital fans to see the beloved Anna Devane, super spy, so lost. Anna explained to Jason, after he was able to disarm her, how she was being pushed to kill Britt by her visions of Peter.
EMMY-WORTHY SCENES FOR 2027
In another hankie-inducing moment, Anna just grabs Jason and breaks down in his arms. If these weren’t Emmy-worthy scenes, we don’t know what is, and it must be remembered by Hughes, General Hospital, and hopefully the voting body of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) when Emmy submissions and voting get underway in 2027 for the 54th annual Daytime Emmys.

RATINGS: ‘General Hospital’ Shows Most Gains in Total Viewers Week-Over-Week and Up in Key Demo
The ratings are out for the week of August 24-28 for your favorite broadcast television soaps, and it was ABC’s General Hospital which added the most total viewers and planted itself firmly in third place in its battle with Beyond the Gates in the key demos of women 18-49 and 25-54.
According to Soap Opera Network, all daytime dramas were up year-over-year, and General Hospital was joined by The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful with gains in their total audience viewership, while Beyond the Gates was only slightly off pace for the ratings week.
Let’s take a look at what had viewers tuning-in, starting with General Hospital, who added +79,000 viewers. While still under the 2 million viewers mark (which they can hopefully return in the coming weeks) their overall tally was an average of 1, 935,000 tuning-in, while still up year-to-year +136,000.
GENERAL HOSPITAL
In addition, GH while actually down from the previous week in the 18-49 ratings share, they still out performed Beyond the Gates for third place. However, GH was firmly in third place for the 25-54 ratings share.
The stories that were featured for the week included: Anna’s (Finola Hughes) PTSD and struggle with painful memories tied to Cesar Faison, and her concocting a plan to get rid of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) recording Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) threatening her, and later running into a severe threat from Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) regarding Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting, and Drew enlisting Ava (Maura West) to gain leverage over Jack, which resulted in Ava drugging him, while Drew went snooping for the evidence Brennan had against him.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
Y&R remained in the top spot amongst all the soaps once again with 3,062,000 tuning in, and up +35,000 for the week, while year-to-year still showing strong gains at +231,000 viewers. However, while Y&R remained #1 for the 25-54 ratings share, it fell to #2 in the 18-49 ratings share behind The Bold and the Beautiful.
In story for the week, Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) sobriety in rehab was a focus, as was Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) hitting the Jabot office couch and having sex for the first time, and Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy (Jason Thompson) battling over control and ownership of Chancellor Industries.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
B&B is continuing to be inch closer to Y&R for the top spot, separated by a little more than 300,000 viewers. For the ratings week, the series posted a total audience of 2,719,000 adding +31,000 eyeballs overall, and like Y&R, is up year-to-year in its performance.
The CBS soap now , now in its 40th season is +217,000 from the same time last year. In the key demos, The Bold and the Beautiful was in the top spot for the women 18-49 ratings share and number two for women 25-54.
In story, the major threat to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Daphne’s (Murielle Hilaire) marriages continued as Steffy and Carter swore they would not tell their spouses that the two had a drunken hook-up. But as viewers know now, Steffy is pregnant!

BEYOND THE GATES
Beyond the Gates tallied an average of 1,611,000 total viewers for the week, up +72.000 year-over-year and down slightly in tune-in for the week losing just -36,000 viewers. The CBS soap came in fourth place in the key demos for the week behind General Hospital, with whom they are often trading places for the third spot.
In story, after Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) was released from the hospital, Hayley (Marquita Goings) stuck to her plan, doubling down on poisoning him and even getting caught in a major lie or meeting with Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), as Vernon (Clifton Davis) may be on to her machinations.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)
It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”
