Days Of Our Lives
Three Villains Return To DAYS As The New Season Kicks-Off After The Summer Olympic Break!

Courtesy/NBC
Friday’s episode of Days of our Lives was its last before the two week break where it is pre-empted for the 2016 Summer Olympics from Rio.
When DAYS returns beginning on Monday August 22nd, NBC is promoting the upcoming storylines into the fall as “The New Season Of DAYS”. In addition come September, look for the scripts from the new co head-writing regime of Dena Higley and Ryan Quan to begin to air.
In the new DAYS promo released by the network, here’s what to look forward to when your favorites from Salem return on-air! After Tate’s kidnapping, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa (Jen Lilley) are reunited with their son, but then all eyes are on Victor (John Aniston) as the culprit! Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) are taking their relationship to the next level, but Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) reveals she is pregnant with Deimos baby, and Phillip (John-Paul Lavoisier) says he will stand up and say he is the baby daddy!
Elsewhere, Chad (Billy Flynn) believes his wife Abigail has perished. Grief-stricken, how will he move on without her in his life? And how will Abigail’s death set back her mother Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), who has struggled with addiction to painkillers? Then, there is a devastating injury to Kayla (Mary Beth Evans)! Will this finally bring the Johnson family back together as a united front?
And, now that Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) is the new DA of Salem, will he throw his once beloved Hope (Kristian Alfonso) under the bus for the murder of Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo)? Finally the big event, as three DAYS villains break out of prison to exact revenge on those who put them behind bars. Look for the return of Clyde (James Read), Orpheus (George DelHoyo), and Xander (Paul Telfer). Will they ruin the wedding day of Brady and Theresa? There is a Kassie DePaiva (Eve) sighting at the nuptials as well!
Watch the preview for the new season of DAYS after the jump. Let us know what has you most excited or intrigued when the show returns from its Summer Olympic break in the comment section below!
This actually looks good… still wish they would bring Kassie DePaiva’s Eve back FT!
Unfortunately, Phil, these super ‘gods’ never listen to us fans. Loooove Kassie.
Me to they never should have let her go.I would love to see her stir up some trouble for Miss Perfect Jennifer.
Miss Kassie! They need her and Eileen full time.
Looks fantastic!!
Who is Orpheus?
He’s a man who caused trouble for Marlena in 1987 and contributed to her kidnapping where she was presumed dead until 1991.
Sigh. If I wasn’t worried about the future of Days before, I certainly am now.
I’m stunned they did not have any major cilffhangers heading into the break. Everyone knows they’ve already recast Abby, so her presumed death doesn’t mean anything. Aiden as DA? Yawn.
The biggest mistake Days has made in the past year is being too dark. What I get from this preview is more darkness — three villains on the loose, Kayla near death, etc. Haven’t the plummeting ratings and fan dismay shown them anything?
I’ll probably keep watching, but this just does not feel like DAYS anymore to me.
I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. I know some viewers have increased hope with Dena Higley back at the writing helm but I do not have a short memory. She was fired a mere 5 years ago and there was a huge sigh of relief from fans of the show when that happened. I wonder what has occurred since then that would tell TPTB she can now do the job. I wait with anticipation but I don’t expect a major change for us who have been painfully faithful this past year.
That’s not a vibrator, Kate. It’s a gun and Clyde may shoot and score!
OK, I was hoping for a change in direction away from “the darkness”. I was thinking that the break would “reboot” the show to watchable again. It seemed like there was going to be a change after the break, not just more of the same. Guess I won’t ever watch again now that I see that they have no intention of changing direction. Doesn’t matter what fans want. It’s business as usual for Ken, Dena and the others at Days! Days is so done and the idiots running the show don’t seem to care. Bye bye Days!!!
Very sad to say, but stick a fork in this show. It’s undoubtedly done. Ken Corday and his staff have shown time and time again just how out of touch they truly are with what fans want to see. They don’t care one iota about the fans.
These soaps desperately need some new, young, up-and-coming, diverse writing talent behind the scenes and to stop living in the ’80s, or else they’ll continue to bleed young female viewers in the target demo, hastening their demise.
Totally agree. As a 40-year old woman in the “coveted target demographic”, I can tell you why I no longer watch daytime soaps: They are full of outdated, misogynistic storylines that are highly insulting to women and have zero relevance to the lived experiences of anyone I know. All of my peers as well as the students I teach (11th and 12th grade) watch shows like Empire, Grey’s Anatomy, etc. and many of my students are watching shows like Gilmore Girls that they were too young for the first time around. These are shows with strong female characters that actually have jobs, friends, and lives. And they actually have a diverse, young group of people behind the scenes with fresh ideas and diversity in front of the camera too.
Daytime soaps are stuck in the ’80s, except they’ve jettisoned the strong female characters that the shows had back then. I don’t think it’s a mystery why female teens and younger women are increasingly not watching these shows anymore if they’re in front of a television during the day.
I’m a slightly older male viewer, but I agree with you to a certain extent. These tired old storylines of “she’s pregnant but the father doesn’t know he is the biological parent of the baby” bit has been played to death, as well as the “he has an evil identical twin” bit has been depicted just one too many times. In that respect, yes, soaps have seen their day. In fairness, the show does portray woman as having important careers (Kayla is chief of staff at the hospital, Marlena is supposedly a licensed Psychiatrist, Hope is a lead Detective) but their jobs always take a secondary position to their man’s needs, ultimately – but of course, it’s a “soap” not real life – I have only been watching Days of Our Lives for about 3 years and lately, meh, I yawn my way through it, they DO need to modernize and brother, they REALLY need some better writers on staff.
Totally agree!!
yeah last year I was excited about Days’ future and wanted it to keep going, but now I don’t really care. it’s too dark and depressing.
Desperate much? DAYS is notorious for going on overkill when they want to bring in viewers and then they tell the story and it’s like a quickie in the backseat, over too soon and nothing left to give. DAYS needs to get new writers and stop telling boring stories. I’ll volunteer to write for DAYS.
it’ll be nice to see “Xander” that’s another quality actor who was let go way too soon
bring him back Ken Corday Productions
loveing clyde back in salem great action coming up loveing Days clyde could ve hide serena anythings possblie
Paul Telfer should be on contract. As Xander, he should recover his uncle’s fortune and return it in order to redeem himself with the family. I would much rather have Xander as a new male heavy than Deimos.
is so agree… there’s a mystique about Xander… and as a heavy … goodlooking to boot.. and CAN act that’s a powerful must have
Deimos being the bad apple… bad seed… dark sheep of the family… ok we get it
along with bedding all the women… Nicole, Chloe, and Kate… OK we get it
muddled, where do we go from here ? Vincent Irizarry was so needed as the resident new doctor and there could have been oodles and oodles of story at the hospital especially with Dr. Kayla
he may be tired of playing to type… but his hospital staff resident has always been much more sexy when he’s in charge
One more knock to the head and Kayla should be done for…good grief..head all bandaged and whatnot..
The return of Paul Telfer is a positive but they are not smart enough to keep him. I Thought for sure we would see Chandler Massey in the last seconds, he was the only one who could save the show.
I dearly would like to see Chandler Massey back on the show. Sonny and Will need to have a re-marriage ceremony, only this time done correctly, with Chandler playing Will.
My big fear with a potential Chandler return, however, would be the near certainty of a repeat of the last six-months or so of his previous tenure, when the show wasted his great talent and our valuable time on pitiful drivel, while deliberately overlooking an embarrassment of potential storyline riches.
I hate Clyde; maybe it will be revealed that he had E.J. killed or killed him. I like the idea that Aiden is the D.A . ; he ,Andre , and Deimos make the show more interesting. Plus, Chad is being played too weak; know that he was the mild side of Stefano ; however, he needs to let the Di Mira side become more powerful. There isn’t anyway Stefano would allow Jennifer to breathe the idea about taking that baby. Also, Rafe, Hope, and Roman need to be brought to justice for Stefano’s death. I dislike cops who want justice for everyone but their friends and family.
Considering the Hell that Stefano put Hope , Roman and the Brady family through for years he got exactly what he deserved. I call it justifiable homicide.
Okay, depending how they write this I find the idea of three convicts in separate institutions escaping and coming back to the town for revenge a bit far fetched.
And I don’t like the use of the words “new season” Soaps by their nature are continuing stories therefore do not have seasons like primetime. Stealing the term in attempt to promote Days is trying to give it a prime time edge that it does not have. But the truth is this might be too little too late–
Right now I not watching Days due to a family medical issue— but even before that I was barely watching and now without a strong cliff hanger like the explosion four years— I doubt many will be waiting for the Olympics to be over— so this new and improved hype about Days is just that hype– I don’t think it will improve much at all.
Always the lady with wisdom and clarity, Mary SF. Agree with your every word.
This really does look so good and i can’t wait for the action to begin. I have been so upset with Orpheus since he put Marlena in that plane that had us believing that she had been killed. And with Clyde and Xander back to cause even more trouble will have me tuned in every day!!!
Some of you say Days has been too dark.
Do you want everyone to live in a perpetually sweet LaLa Land?
If you don’t have conflict you don’t have a story.
Having said that, I could stand to see more good news and light-heartedness.
I would like to see them bring back Mimi Lockhart and her brother…Phillips child they gave away… Pocket and Roman and Kate’s twin children..
If they bring back Mimi, the actress that plays her mother Bonnie, plays Adrienne now, so it might be weird. But I agree. They already have Phillip, Chloe, Belle & Shawn, they need Mimi & maybe even Rex to have a “reunion”.
I was glad Hope and Rafe finally did the deed on Friday. I like both characters and they both need some happiness. Billy Flynn, Melissa Reeves and Casey Moss gave fine performances upon getting the news of Abigail’s “demise.”
I’m trying to hold on for Kassie DePaiva’s return. The current stories are making that very difficult. Knowing that her return is temporary doesn’t entice me to stick around after she’s finished. I wish TPTB would develop the relationship between Eve and Justin. Otherwise, the only hope I see for the show is if they come up with something interesting for Sonny. As it stands now, when Kassie leaves again, I’m going with her.
Yeah, I agree with Llanviewer – I don’t even mind that the show isn’t on due to the Olympics ~ I’m not sure exactly WHY the show isn’t working for me, but without Will and Sonny, and Eve’s departure – I don’t know, I just don’t care that Nicole is getting involved with Deimos, I don’t seem to care about Belle and Phillip, I just don’t connect with these characters….or is it just very poor writing that is putting me to sleep (?) – JJ is now a Police officer (overnight) but while he had tremendous chemistry with the Paige, I don’t feel it at all with Gabbi –
the show just seems very one dimensional and flat – the scripts seem to be lackluster –
aside from that I love it LoL
Yikes !! Too much going on all at once ….. Crazy
Too much !!
How “new” beginnings does this show get? There are obvious problems, every show has them, but this constant re-booting just is sooo getting old. I hope we don’t hear from Ken Corday about how this “new” beginning is taking Days back to where it used to be. he’s said that so many times and it just keeps getting darker and darker. I wish the show well, but am worried for it’s future.
Please get the stupid Hernandez family off Days, Rafe and Gabi are the only good ones, I don’t mind the bay story lines but do we have to watch 2 men making out, so disgusting . I been watching Days since the beginning and ya are losing me as a fan.
I’m glad Xander is back, but it’s still not enough to entice me to come back to Days. Dark and twisted stories.
DAMMMMMN. OOPS SORRY. IT JUST LOOKS GREAT..
I CAN’T WAIT. DOES LOOK GOOD. I CAN’T BELIEVE THE VALLIANT FROM BACK WHEN I graduated high school. They really went back in the vault. This can’t be good.
Don’t like the dark, evil, revenge driven storylines. As someone else said, young women love shows like Grey’s Anatomy because there are strong women and the focus is on relationships. The Deimos/Nicole romance could be good, I don’t mind the Hope and Rafe romance, and Aiden as the DA could be interesting. Just would like the show to move away from the darkness. I seem to only watch for 5 minutes and have had enough. Would love to want to watch a full show again.
I love the dark evil revenge driven storylines. They spice up DOOL on a continual basis. The last thing DOOL needs to do is bore new viewers.
I have been watching days ever since All My Children went off the air. Yes, I am hooked on Days. I realize every episode can’t be a nail biter show, however, there are episodes that are really boring and nothing happens? Then, I don’t watch the show for a few days hoping something exciting will be happening when I tune in again.
To all who are reading this, the show is a way to escape and get involved with the lives of the show. Kudos to the writers who keep this going everyday. Wow! That’s a job I could not do. Yes, I’ll keep watching the show. Thank you cast and writers.
Since when is “a kidnapped child being returned to his parents” dark storytelling?
The preview looks good. I don’t know who Orpheus is so I hope they’ll refresh our memories.
I’m glad characters like Clyde and Xander are coming back mainly because I liked the writing on the show when they were introduced. I have hated the writing on the show for all of this year. With Xander he was on way too short the first time, and its very realistic that he would want revenge on Theresa. He didn’t get caught for nearly killing Nicole and Eric, but Theresa fixed him up with a false rape claim. Clyde would also have unfinished business. But Orpheus? It’s good to see they’re using the same actor, but not sure why he should want revenge on Marlena and John after all these years. He couldn’t be in jail because of them all this time right? I hope its the new writers that are handling these returns.
I am beyond thrilled to hear that Kassie DePaiva is returning to DAYS. I’ve been following her career since her first scenes on OLTL and know what an amazing, versatile actress she is. She’s been cast in a variety of storylines, from funny to serious and anything else you can possibly imagine. She is clearly THE BEST!
The preview looks fantastic! I can’t wait to see Kassie DePaiva back on #Days. The show has been really good & I’ve been enjoying it even more since Vincent Irizarry & Jordi Vilasuso joined the cast. I’d really like to see Kassie have some interaction w/ them…..#Days should put her on contract & keep #Eve in Salem!
I still would love to see Vivian come back she had a way to make you laugh.Am I right but didn’t she and Victor not get along?? Still loved her.How about Eugene too?? Well they need to do something to liven up the story.
Lately, watching DOOL has been too much like work, so I what I have been doing is just deleting entire weeks lately. That’s the probably the death knell of me wathing this show
Too bad but the writing is terrible and the show is just plain B-O-R-I-N-G.
Interesting how Corday uses Stephen Nichols for publicity but his writers REFUSE to write for his character of Steve (PATCH). Having Steve lose his identity to become virtually nothing just a day player to Kayla once in a while tells me that Days is no more! Bringing viewers back on a false promise is basically defrauding all. I feel cheated and disgusted. The new writers have shown a total disrespect. They only prop their pets now and unfortunately they are just simple stereotypes. Nothing to brag about, nothing to care about!
I’m not a Cassie fan, but at least please don’t revive that horrid moaning Eve theme music. Ick!
Nothing screams at me to continue to watch. I’ll keep checking back to see if the casting has gotten better for the rest of america.
Days Of Our Lives
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run. Paul thinks he is looking at 70s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall),. Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
Belle has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Next, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing the baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunion of love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills him Paul in on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena overhears and says promise her if things get dangerous you will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion its just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives and that is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
End card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena and we fade to black.
So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.
Days Of Our Lives
Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC
There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.
TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME
While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI
The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC
Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

Photo: JPI
One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.
Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.
Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.

Al Calderon Reflects on ‘Major Chapters’ Coming to an End on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Brilliant Minds’

It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.
In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.
Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

Photo: JPI
“I’m just unbelievably grateful for the chance and the opportunity to be a part of something so much larger than me,” continued Al. “I (will) love Days of Our Lives forever, my family. Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”
Al concluded with a special mention to some very important people, the fans: “Thank you to the fans and the support from everyone, the lovely messages. So this next chapter, hopefully it’s not a dragon, hopefully it’s a gold coin.”

Photo: NBC
Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.
