This afternoon at the GHFCW weekend event with Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) and Rebecca Budig (Hayden), the reigning Daytime Emmy-winning actor for Outstanding Lead Actor informed the crowd that he will be returning to General Hospital.

While other soap opera outlets including On-Air On-Soaps first received reports coming out of the event that Tyler would return in September, the actor sent out a follow up tweet to clarify what he said during the fan event and to make sure the media and his passionate fans were all on the same page with him. Tyler related via a tweet:  “Slow down every1 I said I THINK Sept. will b my return 2 #GH. Nothing official yet. Thanks for all the love 2day though.”

The popular star left GH back in June citing “personal reasons”, and was temporily replaced by Nick Stabile since Nikolas’ storyline was front burner. Stabile held down the fort, and then in a recent episodes Nikolas was shot, crashed through a glass window and fell off a balcony on Cassadine Island, thanks to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).  That signaled the end of Stabile’s run as the dark prince.
So, happy about the news of an imminent return by Tyler Christopher?  Glad he clarified the situation for all? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Missed Tyler so much! I hope he comes back asap.

Would like to have had more clarification as to just why he left/was absent. If it’s “contract troubles,” why not just say so? If the “personal reason” is illness (his or a family member) why not just say so. This nebulous reason just leave us wondering, speculating, etc.

Why is it anybody’s business? Just because they have a job as an actor doesn’t mean they have no right to privacy.

I know from looking at his Facebook account page that his mother died a few months ago. That could certainly qualify for wanting/needing time off.

I certainly wouldn’t feel compelled to tell a stranger the intimate details of my life. It’s not our business. His job is to entertain as he’s done wonderfully for many years. Beyond that, no explanation is needed.

I am afraid of the kind of story that will explain his long absence. I do not trust the current regime. They have the Reverse Midas Touch, everything they touch turns to kaka!

That’s what I was thinking-not that I don’t believe the actor is entitled to his privacy (as intimated by Clh’s rely to my post). I just think it is ominous when TBTB are less than transparent about THEIR comments. Why the secrecy? I’m with you–long story short–“I do not trust the curent regime.”

yeah know..
I like Nick Stabile as Nikolas, I really do..
I will miss him..
However;
I am happy Tyler is returning, it’s rightful…
A bit of bitter sweet …

((I really really like the Maxie substitute, too .. much better, actually)

Su, I actually agree with you!! Who knew!! Well, at least 95 % anyway. I thought Nick did a great job; however, nobody can replace Tyler Christopher. And as for Molly Burnett, I absolutely love her in this role. If Kirsten Storms had never played it, I would say Molly owns it. But in my heart, there can only be one Maxie Jones and nobody does it better than Kirsten Storms.

I am glad they were able to come up with two great replacements. Makes the absence a lot easier to tolerate.

I like her too…but she’s so different in demeanor that it’s like watching a different character. She actually looks very good with Nathan and Griffin. But I like Kirsten so much….problem is some understudies take so long to get used to or we never do…but Nick and Molly caught on quickly. They should find a place for them all!

“if” any – one – should be eating crow… and foot

come forward

in my defense… ie: Molly Burnett

she has been on “DAYS” three times

her original debut… which… I did not mind at all… she came she rang she did

she made two returns after her original debut

I could not stand her last two returns

in my defense… I’m certain all three times.. she’s been @DAYS… have been with THREE differing writing “teams”

so their you have it

I am stunned by her rebirth … @GH

if GH wanted to take “Maxie” in a whole nother arena… and take her places

Molly Burnett is capable

good for her

it’s painful isn’t it to root for characters and voice them

nevertheless… we do… and I’ve said my piece

“congratulations” Ms. Burnett

It’s about time!!!

Ecstatic! The sooner the better!

I would rather Nick Stabile assume the role of Nikolas Cassadine, permanently. He suited the role much more and has a better chemistry as the character than Tyler has.

Totally disagree. Tyler is Nikolas and always will be. Yes Nick has great chemistry with Ava but she doesn’t belong in this story at all it would make zero sense that her and Nikolas would pair up for any reason.

He never seemed like Nikolas to me at all and just seemed like a new character in a story with Ava. If they brought him on as an interest for Ava that would be great, but he’s not Nikolas and definitely not a Cassadine

Nick should be added to the canus,as he is a better actor than some regulars.

I should lear to spell canvas.

I couldn’t disagree more. Nick Stabile did an admirable job, but I never bought him in the role. It never clicked for me. It was too forced. Maybe they’ll find another role for him on the show. Tyler is the best and only Nikolas Cassadine, and has owned the character for almost 20 years. He and Maura West had undeniable chemistry in the few scenes they shared together, before he left the show, so I look forward to them hopefully picking up with that.

this “forced” relationship with Hayden is a bust

it had all the steam required.. “when” they first met… pent up desires

the writers did way too much “war of the roses” over money

bye bye Hayden… the romance has dulled

it’s now Nicholas and Ava turn

it would be a magnanimous decision to let the characters of Ava and Nicholas be.

and, YES, the bigger reason is it gets Maura West OUT of anything Carly and Sonny.

imagine how high brow and elevated these two would reign supreme

Nicholas / Ava / Spencer / Kiki / Avery

IT

Agreed, Scott! Tyler well-served the role of Prince Nicky for many years, but over the last 12 months or so, I just wasn’t feeling him as the formerly good Cassadine gone bad. Nick Stabile captured that essence far better, and given he successfully settled into the character fairly quickly, it wouldn’t have gone amiss to keep him.

Say it again, Shaybelle. I know everyone will resent me for saying it, but Nick Stabile conquered that ” princely”, unassuming demeanor and hauteur so intrinsically aristocratic like sweet, sweet creme on a crepe. Was he born to the role?
Nick Stabile has a refined aura about him. I am not into barrel-chested, oafish men…..I will definitely miss that quiet charm of his.

I hear you, CeeCeeGirl!!! I like that sort of silent mystique/cool aloofness in my aristos, too!!! Don’t get me wrong, even though TC was never personally my “cup of tea”—-Shades of Helena there…..no pun intended!—he portrayed his character in an oh-so-polite/good prince manner through the years, and I appreciated his efforts. But once he surrendered to the darkness in his bloodline and began behaving like a real Cassadine, I just didn’t find his Nik either palatable or believable….he suddenly became an inelegant slob! Not so with Stabile…..he nailed that insouciant royal aura with skilled subtlety and an innate sense of class, as if he were to the palace born! Exactly right, Celia!

Completely agree! Nick nailed it

Really miss Tyler on GH. I was hoping he would soon be found wandering around the island or hidden on the plane that Jason incredibly could fly. Come back soon Tyler.

Happy he should be back . Falling out of a window so high up twice on 2 different continents will be a mighty hard act to pull off!

This time with a BULLET… so Valentin must have him healing in one of their deep freeze cryo chambers. .otherwise he’s stiff as a board in some very thick hedges. .or they’ll find an outline of his body and a deep hole in the earth like loony toons ..I swear they should put a diving board over a cliff for characters to practice how to survive a fall from great heights. ..I bet there’s a hidden one on Cassidine island. ..YEESH!!!

Still have to wait another month.

it reads to me… he starts shooting on the set , in September

so ??? would his scenes show up… on our telees ? mid October, 2016

Can’t wait to see him back on GH. Wonder if they’re give him a new outfit to wear? He always wears those grey pants and dark purple shirt.

LOL

what about Sonny “Saturday night fever” suits

Glad to know when you’re returning Tyler…. I love you and dislike you at times, but no one can play Nicholas like Tyler Christopher… I just wish that you would leave Jasam alone so they can get on with their lives, I’m sure there are other problems are ahead for them, because that’s how soaps work, so on that note Welcome Home where you belong.

Let’s just hope that Nikolas being back on canvas will mean that idiot Jordan can drop her weekly arrest warrant on Jason. ..or maybe not since did leave her “jurisdiction”. Ha! Her jurisdiction shouldn’t go any further than the local nail salon. Now I guess it’ll be Franco’s turn for every OTHER crime in town. I don’t see the Tyler/Maura chemistry myself yet, but I’m willing to give it a bit more time.

Jordan couldn’t be a mall cop!

Oh, Timmm, that was a good one!

Both are good actors but I am used to Tyler and hope he returns asap.

Great news, love Tyler! Hope he signed a new contract or whatever the hold up was, and we’ll be seeing him on GH for years to come. He’s the only Nikolas Cassadine, anyone else is just trying to fill his shoes.

Doggone it! I really liked Nick S. when he was on our screens! I would love for them to find a role for this guy with so much to offer!

Trim the fat and bring Stabile back as AJ Q.!

I’m very excited for Tyer’s return! NS did a great job filling in and I agree he would be awesome as AJ!

Really missed Tyler as Nik. Couldn’t get into the Cassadine story without Tyler in the role.

When I saw Tyler in April @ the Atlanta Soap Opera fantasy weekend,He stated that nobody would be leaving GH. I guess this really was not planned. I am glad u are returning. You are Nikolas. I thank Nick for holding down the fiort. Hope too se u soon

The actor who replaced him is owed a debt of gratitude–he was so good at keeping the story going while fleshing out this character as his own. He was really good ,and I think we should all applaud him loudly.
That said, yes, of course Tyler is greatly missed. I am happy to know that he may not return to the screen until September comes (as Green Day sings, “Wake me up when September comes”). Because every time there is crack in the background and the characters wonder who it is, I will know that it’s always going to be the Lenny and Squiggy of daytime, dressed in monochromatic his and her black. Damn, who would have thunk Jason and Sam could turn out to be so DAMN BORING!

Agree all around Harry in everything you posted, especially how BORRRINGGG Jason and Sam are.

Sam was always one of my favorite female character but ever since she was paired with Jason, it has just been snoozefest galore..There is no acting chemistry between the two actors..When Billy’s Jason was with Rebecca’s Elizabeth, chemistry was oozing even with a dull storyline

Sam needs a Jasonless storyline and maybe Jason and Elizabeth can be pair up with a reborn psycho Franco as a love triangle.

I never get the actor is “owed a debt of gratitude” thing. He or she isn’t doing anyone a favor…they’re thrilled that they’re getting paid to do a craft the love! They’re actors…and I bet when they get the call they’re thrilled.

With that said, Nick Stabile is quite the looker/charmer and I enjoyed his more playful Nicolas…though that’s not who Nicloas is at the present time. That’s another thing that’s strange to me.nehen an actor takes on a role…he or she is taking on a character…a fictional person whom the writer has created. So, unless the writer wants to make the character darker, moodier, happier, lighter…I don’t get it. Billy’s Jadon is not Jadon. I like Billy and I like the character he’s playing who goes by the name of Jason, but his personality is not Jason’s.

Same with Molly’s Maxie. I loved Molly…I loved the mellow, almost seductive, calmer version…whilst cute at the same time. But I didn’t see Maxie, just a new character who I really liked. Kirsten’s Maxie, (though with a heart of gold and a very sensitive, sentimental side) has a tougher, More spirited demeanor.

when, not nehen…Jason, not Jadon…

Tyler will be back in the FAll. That exotic sweetie who assisted Kevin with antibiotic s will nurse Nick back to health and be his new love!

So glad Tyler will be returning, and fairly soon. He was sorely missed!

Tyler Christopher also known as Nicholas you must come back to GH you are the reason I watch GH. You are awesome one of my favorite actors on all my Soaps . Spencer and Laura needs you back as well.

I told you all he was coming back and you told me I was wrong! I guess you believe me Now!

Check the dates, Kitty. This article is from 2016.

Though everything in the recent GH storyline certainly suggests a Nikolas comeback, there has been no official confirmation from TC or anybody else…. YET.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Chad Duell

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

Published

on

By

Ric

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.

Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.

Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL

Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.

A VENGEFUL PAST

As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.

On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of  Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.

Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!

So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
