EXCLUSIVE: Van Hansis Recalls Working with Daniel Cosgrove in Luke’s Final Scenes on ATWT and Their Full-Circle Moment on ‘General Hospital’
Grab the hankies and take a walk down memory lane with us for a few minutes! It was back in 2010 and the ending of the As the World Turns that beloved fan favorite character, Luke Snyder (Van Hansis) was devastated from the loss of the man he loved Dr. Reid Oliver (Eric Sheffer Stevens).
Reid died on his way to Bay City to get a heart for Dr. Chris Hughes (Daniel Cosgrove) who needed a heart transplant to live. Sadly, Reid’s car stalled on the railroad tracks as a train was approaching and he was fatally hit. Once at the hospital, for all intent and purposes Reid was dead, but he turned out to be a donor match for Chris Hughes.
In the final episode of ATWT, Luke came to see Katie (Terri Conn) and Chris, and got the opportunity to listen to Reid’s heart beating in Chris’ chest via Reid’s doctor’s stethoscope, which was such an emotional moment for viewers and for Luke. Over the years, the choice to have Luke’s on-screen life end not on a happy note was controversial; since most of the other characters on the Oakdale canvas had their final moments on-screen conclude in an uplifting way.

Fast-forward 15-years later and now both Van Hansis and Daniel Cosgrove are on ABC’s General Hospital. Hansis as a recast Dr. Lucas Jones and Cosgrove as smarmy politician Ezra Boyle. During a recent livestream conversation on YouTube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Hansis recalled how Luke’s story ended on As the World Turns, working with Cosgrove, and now the full circle moment he finds himself in a decade and a half later.
Van shared, “Jean Passanante (the former head writer of ATWT), talked about that (Luke’s unhappy ending) in an interview. I have not seen the interview or read it, so I’m not quoting her or anything. But she mentioned that she recognizes that it was a mistake to not give Luke a happy ending. Look, I totally get that Luke should have had a happy ending, and it was weird that he was the only character that didn’t, but that was some good writing!”
Now at ABC Prospects Studios in Los Angeles taping General Hospital, Van was shocked to see his old ATWT castmate Daniel Cosgrove. “It had been so long since I had seen him,” said Hansis. “I was like, ‘Oh, my God! It’s Daniel.’ We had a lot to catch-up on. I haven’t shared any scenes with him yet on GH. I said to him, ‘I felt like we had scenes together on As the World Turns.” He was like, “yeah, we did.”
Then, things clicked for Van who exclaimed to Daniel, “Oh, my God! Reid’s heart was in your chest and it was my last scene.” Feeling that fate had something to do with him becoming GH’s Dr. Lucas Jones, Van relayed, “And this is what is very weird. So, my last scene on ATWT was listening with a stethoscope to Reid’s heart beating in Chris Hughes’ chest with Daniel Cosgrove and a stethoscope, and now Lucas is a doctor on GH! I’m just saying the world might work in mysterious ways, you know what I mean?”

As to where Van thinks Luke Snyder is now, the five-time Daytime Emmy nominee shared, “I think he’s fine somewhere out there in Oakdale. I think he is probably doing some shady stuff taking after his father, Damian (Paolo Seganti), but I think he is probably very happy. I would say, he and Noah (Jake Silbermann) probably got back together.”
Now below, watch the touching scene in the final episode of As the World Turns featuring now GH cast members, Van Hansis and Daniel Cosgrove, and in case you missed it our livestream interview with Van.
Let us know, did you need the hankies for this moment when Luke listened to Reid’s heart beating inside Chris Hughes’ chest? Do you think its ironic that now Van and Daniel are both on General Hospital? Do you feel that Luke Snyder should have gotten a happy ending like the other characters or did Van’s extraordinary performances provide the heart and soul to the finale of As the World Turns? ‘General Hospital’ Favorite Kirsten Storms Gives Update on Apartment Break-in That Caused “Unnecessary Custody Case”

Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH) is sharing more details on the December 2025 apartment break-in and the difficulties she has had with the Tennessee police, plus how the original incident, according to the actress, played into her ex-husband, Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny, GH and ex-Stefan/Jake, Days) filing a restraining order against her and the custody case involving their daughter, Harper.
The popular actress had played GH’s Maxie Jones on and off since 2005, after coming to the ABC soap opera following her run as Belle Black on Days of our Lives. As GH fans know, Storms last appearance on General Hospital was back in March of this year. In recent episodes, the character of Maxie was written-out along with her entire family and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and relocated to Australia.
Now, Kirsten explained via Instagram and with shared photo of the December police report, which indicated Storms had placed a call to the Franklin Police Department to report a break-in at her Tennessee apartment. The report states that Storms was away from her apartment for about a week in August of 2025, and when she returned home, she found damage to the deadbolt on her door, as well as other missing items.

KIRSTEN STORMS SPEAKS OUT ABOUT CUSTODY CASE OVER HER DAUGHTER
Then, Storms fired back at naysayers in the ongoing comments on her break-in situation, stating: “Please do not tell me (or ask me) not to post these things. I’m hoping this is the last item I post (of the documents I have on the break-in at my old apartment in Tennessee). I’m only doing this because that lead to an **unnecessary custody case** being filed against me.”
It was back in April that TMZ learned, through obtaining of court documents, that Barash cited Storms for having mental health issues so he filed a restraining order against her. Kirsten expressed in her latest post, that she was asked to meet with a mediator in the custody case for her daughter, not a judge, and that her mental health issues were being used against her instead of people focusing on the break-in.
Storms added, “However, the break-in … followed by a ‘custody case/now mediation request’ where the break-in was the main reason for the initial custody filing, was unwarranted.”
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CHECK
Kirsten also shared on her health status,”I have always been proactive about my medical care (all aspects), as well as Harper’s (<—— the MOST important person to me). I’ve also been attempting to get checkups with a neurosurgeon/neurologist for my brain aneurysm and brain cysts. And tbh, I have a psychologist that I’ve seen for years, who I’m kinda attached too. She’s f’ing incredible and understands the kind of therapy sessions I need. Addressing what should NOT be the focus (mental illness), is frustrating for me”
You can check out Kirsten’s latest post on the custody matter, and her ongoing battle over the apartment break-in while in Tennessee below.
