(WATCH) GH’s Laura Wright and Cameron Mathison Chat with Good Morning America
Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning America featured special guests, General Hospital’s Laura Wright (Carly) and Cameron Mathison (Drew).
The two castmates have been on an east coast public appearance swing and stopped into Mathison’s former stomping grounds for a chat with the GMA hosts.
During the conversation, Mathison detailed how it’s been coming to GH after formerly being a part of ABC daytime as All My Children’s Ryan Lavery, plus how his wife Vanessa received some acting tips from Laura Wright, before Vanessa’s recent on-screen appearances on the ABC soap opera.
When Laura came by to work with Vanessa on her lines, apparently Cameron hightailed it out his house, sharing, “I took off, you know what I mean? I got out of there because it was a little stressful!”
Wright and Mathison also discussed GH’s upcoming 60th anniversary season, which will kick-off with the Graceland fanfest celebration this October. GH will officially turn 60 on April 1, 2023.
Currently in story on GH, Carly and Drew are getting much closer romantically. Meanwhile, viewers are deciding if they are on-board for the coupling.
Watch Cameron and Laura dish with GMA on all things GH below.
Now weigh-in, are you rooting for Carly and Drew to get together as a couple, or do you hope Carly will somehow find her way back to Sonny (Maurice Benard)? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
Yes, i love the bond they growing will never be like Sonny but what the hell sonny moving why not carly i love her so much.
Friends. Drew & Carly.
Me and sonny is not as popular as he was before nina no chemistry at all
I like Cameron Mathison, just not as Drew. I wish he would have been a brand new character. Plus Carly and Drew do not work for me as a couple. Great caring friends, but not a couple.
Rooting for Carly and Sonny back together
Absolutely Carly n Sonny 🙂
Yes me too
Yes, please Carly needs to get back with Sonny
First, and foremost, Laura Wright is Amazing! Best Carly yet, And I’ve been watching daily since 1982!
“Sonny” is boring. And truthfully unforgivable. So no reconciliation for them. Carly only belongs with Jason. Period. That was the best story line in a very long time. Bring back Steve Burton. Have Drew get together with anyone but Sam, perhaps Britt.
No not Britt she’s leaving in November
KT has said she’s not leaving permanently.
Why is she leaving? I love her
Keep her on GH. We all know SB will be back eventually and they would be great together.
She’s going back to Station 19 primetime.
Sonny is the man for Carly; He has a strong man appearance that is what the character Carly needs. Love Carly and Sonny together.
No. They are horrible together.
Sonny and Carla
YES!!! Cameron and Laura have great chemistry!! Laura has the best hair in the biz and he is just smoking hot… Bring back LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON!!!
Yes Carly and Drew
Bring back Jason for Carly. Crazy Nina can keep Sonny.
I agree
I rather like them together. Carly needs to move on from Sonny, enough already. These two make a striking couple and I look forward to more kisses and more of this relationship.
I want Carly back with Sonny. Can’t stand Nina and she has no chemistry with Drew.
I am tired of Carly and Sonny! I like Nina and Sonny!
Kate
I agree. That crazy bitch deserves him!!
….and even the Devil said “AMEN”!!
Carly and Sonny need to get back together
How is it possible to bring back Nell? She’s dead ?
How long have you been watching this show? There’s at least two guaranteed ways that somebody on GH is not actually dead:
1) Most obviously, when there’s no body.
2) When the Devil Himself tells you this person is not in Hell…. and there’s ZERO chance they could have gone the other direction.
Both of these things are true of Psycho Nelle…. though it’s possible this return may not even be “for real” and might merely be part of a nightmare that Willow is about to have, as she questions her own mortality.
You can bet your soul on it, that – even if nobody else in Port Charles happens to see Nelle this time – she’s going to be back for real one of these days. Sadly, with these writers, it will probably be so they can give even more airtime to the Parasite who is already sucking the life out of the show…. the one who thinks she’s Nelle’s mother because a WalMart necklace told her so.
Remember they found a body but assumed it was Nelle. No body actually claimed the body they just buried it
Oh right… I forgot about that. Some badly bloated body in the river and nobody even bothered to properly identify it. Or in other words, a big red flag that it wasn’t actually Psycho Nelle. Though she might have killed this poor person, whomever it was. Probably to steal her car.
They never found Nell. So she could be alive.
Words I never thought I would write at this site: I enjoyed Laura Wright and Cameron Mathison!
I have always been a Carly and Sonny fan, but they both have moved on. I don’t and never will see the chemistry between Sonny and Nina. For me, it just ain’t there. Drew and Carly do show promise. But, in the end, probably some years from now, the endgame will be Sonny and Carly.
Carly and Sonny!
Totally hot, love those 2 together. Yes yes yes
Gh is really boring and stories dragging now
If Drew were smart, he would never get involved with Carly, Sam, or Elizabeth. Well, not if he wanted anything “serious” anyway. I suppose if he just wanted a quick hookup, it wouldn’t matter all that much. But in terms of a long term relationship with “feelings”… how the Hell would Drew ever know for sure if he had genuine feelings of his own for any of them…. or was just running on the Jason memories that are permanently imprinted in his brain.
If I were him, I’d go for somebody new… somebody’s who’s not included in his brother’s memory files. Even if he was with Britt, for example… her history with Jason was long after the brain mapping dragonshit, so any feelings Drew developed for her would at least be genuinely his own.
I’m a Devil, not a psychiatrist, but I imagine Kevin Collins would tell him the same thing, if he asked for a professional opinion.
Yes, definitely. They have always been 2 of my favorite characters, not to mention their portrayed. Plus they have great chemistry on set. Come on GH. Let it happen.
Rooting for Carly and Sonny back together
Sonny n Carly forever
To me Nina n Sonny don’t click
Nina was in make believe mode and Sonny had had no idea who he was My opinion writers you did wrong
Carly needs to move on with Drew, love this storyline for her. The Sony/Carly storyline was getting old
Like Mathison, glad to see him return but not as Drew! I to wish he had gotten his own character. Drew & Carly? Nah, friends work, not lovers. Hope Carly & Sonny can get it figured out. Nina & Sonny, not a good chemistry,it doesn’t work.
I want Sonny & Carly back together, they make the show stronger together than apart….
Carly and Drewwww!!
Definitely Carly & Sonny!!
Carly and sonny Nina is boring
I’m hoping carly & sonny get back together. Sonny & Nina just don’t work for me. Go CarSon
I agree I love Carly and Sonny being together. Them together brings the best in both of them. In order words they complement each other.
Carly and sonny always find there way back together. I don’t want Drew to get hurt.
Want Carly back with Sonny.
No, I am not in favor of a Carly Drew hookup.
Carly and Drew have Amazing chemistry.
Sonny and Nina however Do Not!! I wish she would go back to Valentine! Sonny and Ava might work. They are Avery’s parents after all.
I so want Sonny and Carly back together. I feel that they have a love that can stand the many challenges that life provides. I can’t see Nina as a love interest for Sonny. She doesn’t have enough spark and charisma to be Sonny’s type of woman. She is way too meek and mild. To be honest she truly turns me off!
Let sonny and Nina stay together
Carley and Drew works well I think .
They are great together
Will continue hoping Carly and Sonny get back together…just can’t see Carly and Drew (as Cameron Mattison) as a couple. I could have seen her with the old Drew.
I love Cameron in his Hallmark and GAC movies but he’s not doing it for me as Drew. GH has become the Carly show. They need to evenly showcase the other talented actresses on the show.
Too much Carla on GH. Showcase some of the veteran actresses more. Love Cameron Mathison in his movies and watch the mall but he’s miscast as Drew.
They are growing on me. They seem happy together.
I hope they put Carly and Sonny back together. Carly and Drew are not a good match and neither is Sonny and Nina. I can’t believe Sonny wasn’t upset for what Nina did. Bad writing on GH part. Also PLEASE BRING JASON BACK!!!
Carly and Sonny should be back now
Drew with Sam, Jason and Brett was a good match. Maxie always get with the bad guy,
Maybe this is the right time for Maxie and Spinelli.
Only in soaps would a woman potentially be with 3 brothers. What did Monica do to deserve this?
When Mathison first came on as Drew, there was so much potential in his scenes with Liesl and Valentin. Now, it’s like he’s playing a watered down version of Drew.
It’s been totally ignored about whose memories Drew has these days. The character barely interacts with anyone other than Carly or Michael.
No, thanks!!
So far not a fan of Carly & Drew, but after seeing this interview, I’ll give them time to grow on me.
I just love Laura. ❤️ Cameron is a great addition. Both very talented. I want Steve ( Jason ) to come back and sweep Carly off her feet.
I love drew with Carly they seem to have a lot of fun together I don’t like Sonny with Nina but but there’s too much hurt and hard feelings between currently feelings between curly and Sunny right now I don’t think Jason’s coming back to general hospital unless he gets his shots all done and hes on a different soap right now
He was on “a different soap” for exactly one week (5 episodes). No indication that’s going to continue.
I predict Jason will be eating Thanksgiving pizza at the Q mansion this year. This upcoming rescue of Holly Sutton from Cassadine Island cannot possibly happen without addressing the fact that this was also Jason’s last known location
Sonny & Carly! Nina needs to be with Valentin or bring back Jax. They made a good couple.
Bring back Jason!!!! The show is not the same without him! Can’t believe they let him go over a stupid vaccine!!
Yes I love them together!
Carly and Drew are not a good match.

YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU MIGHT SEE IN THE SLAMMER
At the end of the video, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is seen in his cell at Pentonville. He gets what appears to be his new cellmate, and utters, “You?” Is this when Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) has manipulated someone from the inside to visit Curtis and begin a plan to get what he wants from Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and use her lover to do his dirty work? ‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
