Wes Ramsey Returns to GH: “Well, Well, Well … Let the Games Commence”
Not only did Kirsten Storms (Maxie) make her return on Monday’s episode of General Hospital, so too did Wes Ramsey as the evil Peter August.
In story, after Maxie came to Nixon Falls to see Nina, (Cynthia Watros) and was whisked out of the Tan-O before she stumbled upon Sonny aka “Mike” (Maurice Benard), viewers see someone hiding in the shadows who is obviously following her. Cue the reveal of a very much alive and well, Peter August, who Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) thought they disposed of, body and all, months ago.
But as GH fans suspected, Peter would pop up again and he did.
In an Instagram post following the reveal, Wes Ramsey shared: “Well, well, well…let the games… commence. 😈 #GH #peteraugust”
As for Kirsten Storms, this was her first on-screen episode back following being away from the show following brain surgery.
So, what did you think of the return of Peter August? What will happen next? Comment below.

While I really like Wes Ramsey and I knew he would be coming back I really hope this a short (until November sweeps) stay and they kill Peter off once and for all (how about a Murder on the Orient Express plot, where they all take turns killing him?). I know TPTB like Wes, so do I, but enough is enough – Peter has past his expiration date. Villains need to have a shelf life and then new villains need to come on. Of course on GH where the villains are the leads (Sonny, Carly and Jason) I can understand why TPTB are confused by this. I miss the days when soaps cared about and favored the heroes and heroines rather than the despicable characters that have taken over the lead roles – it is certainly one of the reasons for the decline of our beloved soaps.
One last story for Peter for a few more months and then kill him off once and for all and forever!
I cannot help but wonder why we can’t get Sean Kanan to reprise the role of AJ Quartermaine again? Surely Dan O’Connor and Chris Van Etten can do miles better with the role than Ron Carlivati ever did.
For soap characters (not counting those whose portayers passed IRL) there’s dead and then there’s dead-dead. AJ Quartermaine falls into the dead-dead category, meaning he died multiple times on screen, was already resurrected with a barely plausible RFD plot and the character was seen being escorted into the light by Emily.
Kanan was great in the role, and sadly didn’t get to do any scenes with Burton on AJ’s final run.
There’s a lot going in Monica’s house, but it’s extremely unlikely AJ will ever be resurrected again.
Never say never … Robert and Anna appeared as ghosts to Robin after their demises … then both turned up alive and well.
And let’s not forget that Edward Quartermaine had entire conversations with Lila as a ghost for months, before he turned up on an island somewhere.
Escorted into the light… yeah, we all know that’s not the direction AJ went!
I’d actually be willing to let AJ out of Hell if he would clear the record of who actually killed him the last time. He was actually recovering in the hospital from that single gunshot wound. Then suddenly goes into a cardiac arrest… as if somebody shot something into his IV. Be it a drug, or an air bubble, or whatever.
AJ already told me who it was, but I’ll let y’all guess for yourselves. Shouldn’t be that difficult, if you look at the circumstances that landed him in that hospital bed.
Maybe making Austin the Quartermaine bad sheep, who is a doctor on what is after all General HOSPITAL will begin a shift away from the way too long in the tooth preoccupation with the mob. I mean, who among us live with mobsters compared with who among as live (or can’t live) without doctors, nurses etc.? Especially with COVID 19 around. (GH did so much for AIDS when it came about but the writers seem deaf to COVID. Maybe if Steve Burton is away for a long time they’ll get on the COVID bandwagon…) Anyway, let’s see more Austin who are you Quartermaine. He can outperform Wes as the mercurial bad guy with one eye closed. Heck, he wrote the book on bad guys.
Please let’s hope Peter August doesn’t make it to Peter September.
That’s clever whynot. Sadly, he’s been around for too many Augusts already.
This is what happens when you put Poppy Bush in charge of Underworld Security. Goddamn it, I’m tired of all these fools escaping from Hell. Sorry about that, mortals!!
sorry, but this was no big surprise, for one the actor never gave an official goodbye anywhere and two, anyone who pays attention to the shows closing credits on Fridays (I do) would see his name week after week, so no big surprise here, and with Drew all of the sudden back from the dead, well to many variable. Strange that Drew turned up on screen and no one has mentioned him on screen, yet Hayden name you here almost everyday and nothing yet about Rebecca returning , I sure hope she’s coming back because Peter, and drew and who knows who else so far have.been less interesting to see back then it would be to see Hayden.
Funny thing is, I was more surprised by Kristen Storm’s appearance as Maxie so soon after surgery than I was Wes’ re-appearance as Peter. We all knew that one was coming. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
Who asked for this? Peter is a terrible character and it was a relief when we thought he was dead. But basically they needed to put the story on pause for a few months while Kirsten was away, and instead of having Peter disappear they “killed” him off and had a highly skilled doctor and decades-long nurse CONFIRM his death. How are they going to explain this idiotic writing?
–
The only good thing that can come from his return is a proper wrap-up to this storyline – namely, a who-dun-it murder that encompasses a majority of the cast. IMO it would be great if Heather Webber escapes from the asylum and kills Peter out of revenge for him killing Franco. Also, I’d really like to see Brooklyn finally tell Valentin the truth about Bailey/Louise because it’s heartbreaking watching him get attached to a baby that isn’t his.
I’m with you. I’d like to see Heather or Dr. Obrecht take Heinrik out.
Carrie,
Just have a little more patience. We know it will happen, we just don’t know by whose hand. Iam betting on Sonny for some reason.
On that note….. Did Dr. Oooblech ever MEET Psycho Heather??
It would seem like Nina is about to clue Liesel in on Heiny’s escape from Hell, and the fact that he’s currently making threats against her grandson. But of course, if Frau Ooblech were to make a visible move against Heiny, he would act on those threats, so that might keep her from acting.
Now on the other horn, if she was to pass this news on to Heather, who must be aware by now that Heiny is the one who killed her “beloved son”, Frodd, then Heather could escape from the nuthouse, send Heiny back to Hell, and be back in her padded cell before anybody realizes she’s missing. Hell knows she’s done it before.
The fact that Scotty Baldwin is now involved with Olbrecht may be an added incentive to convince Heather to take action.
Somebody send Heiny back to Hell already. Cerberus misses his favorite chew toy.
Jimmy,
You are so right. Heather killing off Peter, tit for tat I say. I also hope Peter has a good explanation of how he escaped that freezer and yes, every time I see Valentin with that baby, it’s heart breaking. Iam only glad we didn’t have to see his bad seed daughter Charlotte trying to do something to Papa’s new baby.
Ugh!
“Let the games commence”? You mean “make the torture continue!” It was SO nice not seeing that scrunched up face on my screen. Oh well, back to fast-forwarding.
I’m more concerned with the return of Kristen Storms. It seems like she just took leave. After brain surgery, I would have thought she would require more time off.
I hope she’s recovered and ready to work? I’m concerned she returned to soon? Thoughts to Kristen Storms. Stay well. I’m happy she’s back but I hope she’s well enough.
I hope she’s well enough too.
Jeremy and Carrie… Kristen looks good but like you am worried about her returning too soon as well.
Wes Ramsey is a great Faison 2.0. “Peter August” was boring but Henrick is something else. Wes Ramsey plays bad soooooo good. Great to see K. Storms back and healthy. Looks great. Feisty Maxie is back.
Love Wes Ramsey!!!
O.K Satan,
Who the HELL left the gates open, but I guess a snake like this one could slither out of anywhere. Hope you can get him back where he belongs.
Peter’s going to blackmail Nina, if she doesn’t kill him first.
Nina will become my favorite GH character ever if she just shoots and kills the s-o-b and saves us months of whispering, mustache twirling and unnecessary character propping.
I love Wes Ramsey. He’s a great addition To the show. Brings alot to the table with his acting. So happy he’s back on air!!
Iam afraid Leisel’s plan will backfire. She doesn’t know that Peter has already spotted Maxi in Nixon Falls and not off on some island. I think that Sept.17th will find everyone back in PC for one big explosion, with the wedding right in the middle.
Anyone get as sick as I did today seeing how close Carly and Jason were to our worst nightmare?
“Jarly” – Gag me with a spoon!!! I never thought I’d want Sonny back in PC, but I am on Carly Overload!!! I have never enjoyed LW as Carly, but my dislike has taken on gigantic proportions and morphed into pure hatred!!!
Yes, I hope Sonny fixes himself up some before he returns to P.C, gets out the old black shinola or whatever he uses on his hair and cleans up the grundgy beard, letting those dimples shine through. As W.R says above “let the games commence”. Who will be the most surprised?
What games? Peter is supposed to make me shake in my stilettos in fear!! Right? Not!!
Such bad acting, I’m speechless—-something which rarely happens.
Please let this guy go once and for all. The character contributes nothing but irritation.
I am not familiar with this actor—-never heard of him before GH—-Was he always this uninspiring? Maybe not. But, as Peter August? —-he does not make either the cut or the “case”—-he makes my skin crawl.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
