Wes Ramsey Wraps His Run as GH’s Peter August Shares: “Thank You For Taking the Journey with Me”
Since 2017, one of the most polarizing characters in soaps has been that of Henrik Faison AKA Peter August. Through his reign of terror, Peter always seemed to get away, live to see another day, and not pay for any of his crimes. But that all came to an end on Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital.
Peter finally died after being hit in the head with a tire iron by Felicia (Kristina Wagner) after she found her daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) staring down the barrel of the gun that Peter was holding on her! After Felicia struck Peter in the head, he slid down an embankment to the ground below, and was barely conscious. In the end, it was Anna (Finola Hughes) alone with Peter, who failed to call 911 and an ambulance to help save Peter, instead she quickened his death by not getting him immediate medical attention.

After Peter extends his hand to Anna, knowing that this is the end of his life, she holds on to it, until Peter dies. And this time, Peter died for real. Following the airing of the episode, Wes Ramsey took to social media to say his farewell to the role and to thank the GH fans.
In a post on his Instagram, Wes expressed: “Thank you for taking the journey with me. To those who were kind & supportive, my heart has felt inspired by you. To my friends & family (& the fans everywhere), it has been an honor to give everything I had to this & I will never forget how fun it was to entertain you. To the cast & crew, thank you for welcoming me into your world & for giving me a chance to play with you each day. To the writers, producers & directors, thank you for trusting me with all we did together. It was one helluva ride… “#GH #peteraugust #actorslife #mydreamscametrue
Finola Hughes, who shared Ramsey’s final on-air scenes, expressed her thoughts on working with Wes, in a separate IG post: “You are Renaissance man, a consummate professional. Thank you @wes_ramsey for being a great scene partner. Thank you for bringing your ‘A’ game each and every day to #GH It’s been a pleasure exploring all the strange grey areas of a story where the villains were sometimes the victims, and the heroes weren’t always in the right. You trod some difficult terrain and carried it with grace and dignity. Your chilling poise as the character, and transparent wound made working opposite you fulfilling and always surprising. To everything the road ahead brings you, to the moon 🌙 xxx” @generalhospitalabc #GH
So, what did you think of Wes Ramsey’s parting words? Are you glad the Peter has finally met his maker? Comment below. But first, watch the final moments in Peter’s life as Anna is there with him at the end.

Welcome back to Hell, Whiny Heiny!!
Cerberus was happy to get his favorite chew toy back.
Long overdue, probably the most toxic character in 59 years of GH history APPEARS to be gone. A body bag scene (a la Julian) would’ve been very appreciative here, but let’s just call it final.
I do wish Wes a fantastic career far away from GH and that the character never reappears.
The 30+ year friendship between Anna and Felicia was perfectly highlighted in their dual responsibility in ending Peter. Both were terrorized by Heinrik’s father at one time. Cesar Faison – now that’s a real villain!
Other than Valentin (JPS must be shooting his other series) Wednesday’s episode featured all the key characters who had to be the first to know it was all over.
To top it all off, we finally got the long awaited BLQ- Chase kiss.
I have to wish Mr. AUGUST had taken his journey long ago. He more than overstayed his welcome. I bet our friend Satan had the fires going full blast! I was overall disappointed in the “grand finale” that we waited so long for.It was almost amusing when Anna, Drew, Dante, etc. raided the house like gangbusters. After everything Peter had done and people he killed, two women overcame him with no problem. Such a huge letdown. I think the viewers deserved more than that!
I don’t trust General Hospital when it comes to THEIR favorite villains (not ours, theirs!) – they so often don’t stay dead, particularly Cesar Faison and at the moment Victor Cassadine. Here’s hoping Peter is another Shiloh and stays dead!!!!
It was beyond time for Peter to leave the canvas of the show. It is an enormous relief and now we can move on to other stories.
Perhaps Wes Ramsey might show up on one of the other three shows?
I like Wes Ramsey. I’ve always liked Ramsey. However, he was terribly miscast in an overly drawn out role. They easily could have cast someone like Trevor Donovan as Peter and it would’ve truly taken the role to new aspects we never got. And the more people bitched the more I know the character was pushed, and rightfully so. Am wishing him the best on his next chapter and I will be sure to follow him.
Hahaha!!! C’mon, GH fans…after all the despicable things Peter did and he “dies” by getting hit in the head by a tire iron? You know that ain’t happening. Give it 6 months or a year and we’ll see peter pop up out of nowhere and with an explanation of how he survived. A character like Peter would be dipped into a vat of acid to get his just desserts. Sorry, gang, but I’m not buying it.
A vat of acid isn’t exactly permanent either. Remember when Hope “died” on Days of Our Lives?? Not only did it not actually kill her, but they retconned it later to say she wasn’t even the one who fell in the acid… and the woman who did (Greta) even survived with some minor facial scarring.
I’ll do my best to keep Heiny in Hell this time. Cerberus won’t be happy if he escapes again, and not even the Devil wants a three headed Hellhound pissed off at me!
In some ways I will miss Peter as a character. I was always hoping his better angels would win…and he did have his good moments. But, alas, the dark side got the better of him in the end. So to Wes, great job in playing this complex, damaged person. And good luck for happier roles in the future.
Then there was the handholding goodbye at the end between Anna and Peter. OMG did it ever get to me. Beautifully done.
I am trusting you Michael! That this…”And this time, Peter died for real.”…is true! ~
This damn story went on WAAAY too long, and that creep had better never come back! ~
So far I’m ‘loving to hate’ Victor, so I can take him being the bad guy for a while.
One day a writer will write that Victor’s men picked up his dead body and one day we will see Peter in some human test tube frozen …right beside another human text tube with a frozen Luke…
The “Climax” was a let down. Some of the cast had boasted about how good this story was going to be as it wrapped! What are they supposed to say? But anyway, burning in a vat of acid would have been much better but GH, more than any other soap likes to revive the dead!! I dont mind it. It shakes up the characters and the viewers get excited or upset when someone rises from the ashes! Peter may or may not be dead. If he resurfaces, maybe by then Laura Wright will be dating a new guy! [Badadum!] Just kidding Laura! But maybe Wes isnt available and they bring in a new Peter. Who knows? Faison was spooky, evil and Wes was not. Wes can act but this wasn’t his role. But one thing I do know, Faison could and probably does have other children out there somewhere waiting to hop on a boat and sail into PC to reek havoc!
I am SO PISSED OFF at the writers for the way they took Peter out! This is the second villain that the entire town of PC said they hated and wanted to see dead in recent years but the writers gave us an anti-climatic end to. (The first one being Shiloh.) They had a perfect set up for a great who-dunnit and wimped out with, though action packed, was a great big let-down. Why couldn’t Peter have vanished when Anna left him, only to show up a week later and then be shot or something like that?
GH doesn’t do shootouts well. That cabin was so recognizable. And then having Anna, Dante and Drew shoot at something off camera and only three feet from the cabin (not to mention hiding behind a rock the width of a furniture box) made me ask if a junior high schooler produced those scenes. They were laughable. I realize there a budget restraint, but by golly!, this was awful!
I feel very robbed by their decision to write Peter (and Wes, who I think is a gifted actor), off this way. I was getting my hopes built up for a great mystery.
Now, the only mystery to me is why do they keep coping out of murder trials of great villains.
AAAWWW- I’m going to miss Peter–
No soap is worth a nickel without a dark evil Villain-
Now GH is Villian free-
Hope a new menacing threatening dark Villian will enter soon-
And-
When Peter went dark he should have been called Henrik-
Peter should have been dropped and returned to Henrik.
What? Villain free? We have the delicious and suavely evil, Victor Cassadine, the insidious psycho-chick-from hell, Esme, and Ryan is quietly pushing the reset button while gaining strength. . Peter was not needed, he became dead weight long ago. Moreover, Joss has turned into a mean girl, who treats her best friend Trina like her own personal accessory. No, we have too many villains.
Hi Harry 🙂
Victor isn’t scary–not like the Cassidines of old when they could make you quiver on the edge of your seat..
Even Valentin, the one that put the fear in Helena is nothing but a teddy bear-
Mean and nasty is not an evil bad to the bone guy..
It was way way before my time– but my granny soap guru neighbor told me of Ray Garnder and Clyde–
and I spent time with her watching them..
she luved showing them to me, I liked it-
Now– they were 100% true evil villains–
GH is free of true dark-cringing guys.
GH will never again capture the true essence of the villains of the old days, that I saw.
Why? because too many pearl clutches killed them off by whining about them doing nasty things LOL –Time will tell if GH will create an actual dark evil villain, again.
And-
Peter was nothing in comparison to the original villains, nope-
There must be a list of them online or somewhere.
Victor is more of a charming villain. Ryan is always lurking though.
To dip into history and bring someone truly scary back, they need to find wherever Grant Putnam is locked up. Bring him back with another vicious looking dog. That’ll frighten the horses.
Well, the pretext for bringing Grant Putnam back is that his son has been working in the Quartermaine mansion in recent months…. Ever notice how much that Yuri guy looks like him?
Though Yuri has a Russian accent, so he’s more likely to be related to Grant’s KGB doppleganger, Grant Andrews… and that’s assuming he took Celia back home to raise his family in “mother Russia”
In normal times, I’d like your suggestion, but with what’s going on in the world right now, the show won’t touch on anything remotely Russian-related. This is similar to not addressing Covid as soaps traditionally offer an escapism from real world severities.
Yeah, I came up with my theory about Yuri long before Pooty decided to attack Ukraine, but thanks to that, it’s not a likely plot twist right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Yuri disappeared without a trace, actually. Hell, Sonny’s bodyguards Max & Milo dropped off the planet, and they weren’t even from any “controversial” countries. Now he’s got that new guy who looks like Jack Webb from the old Dragnet show… on steroids.
Harry
You are right. I am not looking forward to Esme and whoever Ryan is to her when they gain momentum. I thought it was just me that thought Joss was over the top the other day, kind of disturbing in how much it bothered Trina, and it’s getting worse. Joss said it today, she learned from her mother how to handle people. I’d take advice from just about anyone but Carly.
Oh VIOLET, when Joss said to Cam how she learned how to defend her friends from Carly, I swear I could see poor Cam trying not to howl with laughter. Yeah, Carly is SO GOOD at interpersonal relationships…I’d emulate her, wouldn’t you? Yikes!
How long before Perer’s long lost twin shows up in town or Frank casts him as a different character
“Polarizing” isn’t the correct word. That means that there were viewers on both sides of the spectrum (poles), when in fact virtually everyone hated him.
But that doesn’t even matter: they purposely didn’t show his body being removed, so it’s only a matter of a month or so before he’s back, sad to say.
Not true. On wes and Fiona site over 5000 positive comments for Wes and many missing Peter
FINALLY!!!!! Now go away. SAYONARA!!!!!
Bye now.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
