Remember how much good ole’ J.R. Ewing hated Valene Ewing, the wife of his deadbeat brother, Gary Ewing on the original Dallas, and the spin-off, of all spin-offs the great Knots Landing?  Well in a recent interview with the one and only Valene herself, Joan Van Ark, the actress said she would be interested in showing up in the new Dallas which first season kicks-off on June 13th on TNT.

When asked by Craig Byrne of KSite’s, TV Out of the Box coverage, Van Ark stated,  “Well, rumor has it … I’m having lunch with Ted Shackelford tomorrow. They asked him to come down and be part of it. It was several months ago, and he’s deeply into filming The Young and the Restless the daytime soap for CBS.   But if they asked Gary, maybe they’ll ask for Val.  It is true that J.R. and Val were rivals.  There is no doubt about it. This man I loved so much, Larry Hagman … I was just at his birthday party several months ago… I would kill, that if Val came back, if it was trouble for J.R, because they were always at odds. I don’t know if it’s because she stole his baby brother away, and she was ‘white trash,’ or what the whole deal was… ‘but ah wanna get mah claws into that J.R., ah swear!’

So would you like to see Poor Val show up in Dallas?  Let us know!

Would love to see Valene Ewing back on the DALLAS ranch even for a single episode. I have such high hopes for the relaunch as this series was such a favorite of mine and my family. It was not just any primetime soap, its pedigree and talent across the board really lifted it to the top of the genre.

yes of course. she’s great

i would like to see valene ewing go to dallas and gary too,or you can do another knots landing and her and karen and the rest can do that show.

Yes, please bring Ted and Joan back to the new Dallas! Ratings would go through the roof with most of the original cast participating! Very anxious for the relaunch of the iconic primetime soap!

Yeah, because everyone who watched Dallas watched KL and vice versa. LOL! Joan Van Ark was just a guest star. If there is a Knots 2.0 you wouldn’t want Larry Hagman on it, would you? Besides it’s not right to have her on – there could be small children in the room.

I had a hard time watching her when she played Gloria on Y&R.

I agree… reason they let her go and re-cast… imagine not having Judith Chapman, Vamptress…. i actually stopped watching y&r… evenmoreso.. since they let go of Eileen Davidson, Ashley. I hope DAYS/Sony re-hires her…. PLUG.

remember, when Kin Shriner replaced Ted shakelford… for a while… ?!?! I still think he’s all that… and belongs on daytime. Kin was funny and sexy with gloria.

Knot’s Landing, was at the top for, what? 15 years? Dag! no other night time soap… was as good.

I agree, Patrick, I LOVE Judith Chapman. She has made Gloria all her own.

And I really did like her interaction with Kin Shriner too. They should find something for him or bring him back to GH.

It’s too bad the networks do not invest in programming like they used to. I am a child of the late 70s, but I remember watching Dallas and Falcon Crest with my mom and then I saw some Knotts Landing and Dynasty, et al on my own later on. Nowadays shows do not even get two episodes before they are canceled. And then they wonder why the viewers are gone.

I do not think Gloria was a good fit for Joan Van Ark and they realized it. Seeing where the character has gone, that is even more clear.

Joan Van Ark scares the Be-Jesus out of me! She has had waaaaayy too much work done, and it’s hard to watch her on screen. I know that no one wants to grow old, but growing old gracefully is so much better than having your face pulled, peeled and rearranged until it’s hardly recognizable. I say, leave her off Dallas, for the sake of not scaring the audience off with that face.

i wanted to say this earlier… she hasn’t “aged” well. it’s haunting for women.. that plastic surgery… botox… rail skinny… is what it isn’t. do big boobs… really mean all thats left? it’s coining the phrase… “just be yourself”… doesn’t exist.

ok… if you have money to burn. “we” “understand” the spotlight?

honing your skill and craft… once you’ve made it.. should be what you needed.

Joan Van Ark… was at the top of her game… on Dallas and Knot’s Landing.. for 15 years… Thank you for that.

enough about me…

Joan.. will always be “sweet pea”. so said the Mega Star Julie Harris… and her brother Alec Baldwin. this was a mega starred TRIO.

it’s so not fair to women… in this business… heck… it’s not all that… i would have identity issues… i’d look younger.. but, wouldn’t feel it. wouldn’t you agree? making conversation. i love actresses. BUT.. you can’t not believe.. that it’s the first thing one thinks… “what have you had done?”. it totally takes away your mind. you lose focus. so many of these women can act…

alright.. just saying… don’t go to extremes… i agree with you Torrey.

She’s looks like a more masculine Gary with a wig. Scathe. You don ‘t have to take plastic surgery that far the problem is when the celebrate wants to look like they’re 25. Val was not important at all on Dallas. Let her stay in the corn field.

Yes, she would be awesome on the new Dallas! Sign her up ASAP!

It would be nice to see her again in dallas. maybe this time around she won’t take no crap off anyone, She was always a goody two shoes. Would be nice to see Gary to.

Can’t wait for DAllas and so happy that they are giving the original Dallas characters as much air-time as the new characters. Love Valene & Gary and would love to see them both show up occasionally. Who knows maybe a Knots Reboot is next..lol The other of my favorite prime-time soaps.

Joan Van Ark was one of my first crushes, and I would love for Gary and Val to make an appearance on the new Dallas. I would especially love it if the appearance was used as a preview of a Knotts Landing revival. KL was the best primetime soap ever.

OK… this is my one dig… was it the TV Guide Awards? when Larry Hagman… Patrick Duffy… and Linda Gray were presenting… and Pressing their upcoming show? LOL… Sue Ellens Head was bobbling… like it was going to fall off… ala katherine Hepburn… I used to drink with her every friday night… in our hey day.

I will be tuning in to Dallas…. because of Sue Ellen… and the illustrious Barbara belle Geddes… Mother Dallas. one bowed preened before her.

I never drank with you and sue ellen on friday nights but I watched, I am looking forward to seeing her most of all she was my favorite, Can’t wait to watch Dallas again.

Miss Ellie “Anyone care for another drink”?

Sue Ellen (The best TV lush ever) in her sweetest, high fulutin’ voice “I believe I will Miss Ellie”

Can’t wait til Wednesday!

joan van ark is a wonderful actress. but she was the original gloria fisher. the role did not suit her. she was not right for the role of gloria at all. i am so happy that judith chapman is playing gloria. she has spunk she is so funny and a diva. i love judith chapman great actress. joan van ark has had to much plastic surgery. she is to skinny and needs to gain some weight. honestly joan needs to eat a cheese burger.

i just want to know what she meant when she said that ted shackelford is deeply into filming y&r………………..his character is on maybe once a month.

perhaps… if they brought back Kin Shriner… as Glo’s Jeffrey Bardwell…we’d see much more of them… these two cat on a hot tin roof’ing the CAMP. Kin’s Jezebel’ing HOT about town… wink! wink?

————————-

i’m sorry, our favorites get relegated to behind the bar, supporting… when we miss them.

Maybe if Joan Van Ark still looked like Joan Van Ark and not an alien from planet Botox.

I googled her yesterday and I must say I was in shock at her face and the size of her lips, God why do woman do that to their faces? grow old gracefully it does look better. I think she is among the stars that got a bum face lift cause she really looked bad and I hate to have to say that, Look at Joan rivers she can’t even smile or laugh, her skin is all folded up on the back of her head, she has to make moaning noises to let us know she is laughing at her own jokes. Those plastic surgeons sure do make a lot of money in hollywood.

I would love to have Gary and Val come back to Dallas! They are much stronger individuals now. Wouldn’t it be funny after all the years of fighting, JR and Val hooked up? Funny that the new show is pretty quiet about any love interest for JR (a serial womanizer). We know he and Sue Ellen cant live with or without each other, but there’s always a bedmate.

” anyone care for another drink”? “I believe I will Miss ellie”I remember it well she was a good drunk wasn’t she? I can’t wait till Wednesday, we are going back to Dallas.

JR! Mr. Pfizer…

The Incomparable Linda Gray! Sue Ellen and JR…. these two… throughout; shackled imagined.

The one conquest, that I ACHED with Sue Ellen: was Dusty…. her brief, what coulda been… LOVE’less.

i’m looking forward to Ann Ewing… ala “pam” – Bobby’s wife… Ms. desperate housewives – Brenda Strong. She’s so Lovely…

I would love to see Val and Gary back at Southfork. I always wanted to see more interaction between them and the rest of the Ewings. It was very spotty at best. They can add elements to the show and balance the forces of evil better. I would also like to explore their earlier hstory a little more.

I would love to see Joan (Valene) return to Southfork for some interaction with the new clan. If Ted (Gary) doesn’t want to make an appearance, maybe she can bring Lucy with her. Lucy and Jr were always at odds too!

I don’t get TNT, but it would be great if Valene and Gary would be on the new show – more than just a oner cameo.

i just saw them last month — I was watching shows I’d taped long ago and came across the last 2 shows of Knott’s Landing! That was fun to watch. I always loved that show!

YES, YES, YES! I would love to see Valene (Joan Van Ark), Gary (Ted Shackleford) and Pam (Victoria Principal) return to the show! The show would not be complete without them! I saw the premiere June 13, 2012 and loved it! I was glad to see Lucy and Ray. As always Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and J.R. (Larry Hagman) performance’s were magnificent! Let’s please get Valene, Gary and Pam back!.

Yes, of course I would. She is Lucy’s mother and it would really piss J.R. off if Valene was to show up in Dallas. Maybe a business deal with Sue Ellen or Cliff Barnes, then again she could simply come to visit the family with Gary. She should be strong, like Sue Ellen, and able to stand her ground with J.R., then again she only backed down after he had his boys do his dirty work. Anyway, yes, yes, yes…bring Val back to Dallas…she was there in the beginning and she should be there again.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JOAN VAN ARK BACK ON DALLAS AND IF NOT THERE THEY COULD BRING KNOTS LANDING BACK AS WELL. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE TED SHACKLEFORD AND JOAN VAN ARK BACK ON EITHER SHOW.

Yes, I’d love to see Val and Gary on Dallas. I’d make it a point to watch. I was a huge fan of Knots Landing!!!!!

Then watch KL

Not a fan of KL and Val was not important on Dallas at all. Plus she looks like Fred Gwynne without the sec appeal.

‘Dallas’ Star Linda Gray Signs on as Executive Producer of Proposed Holiday-Themed TV Movie to Shoot at ‘Southfork’

Published

Dallas star Linda Gray (ex-Sue Ellen Ewing) has signed on as executive producer of a proposed holiday-themed TV movie that would see her return to the former shooting location of her legendary primetime soap with a major twist.

Conceived as a love letter to the legions of Dallas fans, the project is a lighthearted romantic Christmas comedy, which finds Gray, and potentially Dallas co-star Patrick Duffy (ex-Bobby Ewing), back at Southfork Ranch playing all-new characters but in supporting roles to a pair of younger leads.

Teaming with Gray to shop the project is executive producer Larry Thompson, who cast the actress in last December’s hit Lifetime TV movie Ladies of the 80s: A Divas Christmas.

According to sources, one of Gray’s motivations for wanting to return to the real life Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas, is to bid a proper farewell to the beloved filming location after TNT’s 2012-2014 Dallas reboot ended abruptly.

The TV-movie script, is written by former Hallmark Channel Home & Family producer William Keck (who also guest starred on General Hospital as Russell and gave Morgan Fairchild a lot of grief on-screen), was inspired by the 1937 film classic Topper, which cast Cary Grant and Constance Bennett as glamorous matchmaking ghosts.

In this upcoming project, Gray and potentially Duffy would portray a pair of former co-stars, now deceased, who are steadfastly guarding their sacred homestead from a Taylor Swift-type pop princess who takes up residence to shoot a music video for her new holiday song. As part of their plan, the spirits plot to sabotage the young star’s budding romance with the ranch’s handsome caretaker.

While the Southfork ranch routinely hosts annual, well-attended holiday celebrations, the property was remarkably never shown  decked out for Christmas in any Dallas episode.

This announcement follows the news that Lifetime is developing character-driven TV-movies themed from the legendary soap opera, All My Children, one also being holiday-themed.

So, what do you think about an holiday-themed TV-movie with Linda Gray as EP and co-star shot at Southfork? Would you be interested in seeing it come to fruition? Comment below.

Lifetime’s ‘Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas’ Brings Epic Food Fight and “Slapfest Coup de Grâce”

Get ready for the feuding soap opera divas, when five actresses known for their signature primetime and daytime roles are brought together in Lifetime’s new holiday film, Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas.

Saturday night, December 2nd on Lifetime (8pm ET/7PM CT) marks the highly-anticipated holiday movie premiere featuring: Donna Mills (ex-Knots Landing), Nicolette Sheridan (ex-Knots Landing), Morgan Fairchild (ex-Falcon Crest et al), Linda Gray (ex-Dallas) and Loni Anderson (ex-WKRP in Cincinnati).

Here’s what we do know! In story, five alums from the long-running soap, The Great Lakes reunite for a live Christmas finale. Uh-oh!  Now take a look at the backstory of the colorful cast of characters (pay special attention to the clever twists on the actresses names!)

Photo: Lifetime

LAUREN EWING (Linda Gray) “Everyone thinks I’m so damn good all the time,” confesses the junk food-loving Lauren of her second act as a lifestyle guru. “I don’t know how Gwenyth Paltrow does it!”

DANA CUNNINGHAM (Donna Mills) Now a sitcom mom, she’s yet to make amends to ex-bestie Juliette after abruptly leaving the soap back in the day. Not that she hasn’t tried: “When I thought the world was going to end in Y2K,” Dana says, “I reached out to her, and she never called me back.”

LILY MARLOWE (Loni Anderson) After replacing Dana on ‘Great Lakes’, Lily never again found a role to win her acclaim. “What do I have to show for (my career)? An arc on  For the People – Shonda Rhimes’ only flop!”

JULIETTE MATHESON (Nicollette Sheridan) “She left me for L.A.,” the party girl turned fashion mogul recalls of Dana’s betrayal. Will their feud derail the entire event?

MARGEAUX ROBERTS (Morgan Fairchild) “Fasten your face-lifts, ladies, it’s gonna be a bumpy weekend!” The sassy grande dame of ‘Great Lakes’ sees the Juliette-Dana beef as the perfect escape from her own domestic drama.

Photo: Lifetime

Now, making this all the more hysterical is the director of The Great Lakes reunion special, which makes the five women live under the same roof, is its former child star Alex, who has gotten his ex-girlfriend, Nell to direct the finale. Meanwhile, in the subplot. the ‘Ladies of the ’80s’ come up with a plan to get Alex and Nell back together.

As with any good soap opera, there is a major food fight. Linda Gray shared with USA Today ,”The food fight was one take. And it was fabulous.” And of course, their is a bitch-fest slap-fest. Morgan Fairchild revealed, “Oh honey, we all got ours in. Mine was a simple, ‘How dare you?’ with a slap. But I was hoping for a punch.”

Photo: Lauren Dukoff/Lifetime

The movie’s EP, Larry Thompson, who is a Hollywood manager and has Donna Mills as a client, said that the entire scene peaks with the”slapfest coup de grâce.” What is that exactly? That is when Donna Mills pushes Nicollette Sheridan into a pool in a nod to Dynasty’s Lily bond battle between Dynasty’s Alexis (Joan Collins) and Krystle (Linda Evans).

In case you missed it previously, check out the trailer for Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas below, also starring Patrika Darbo, Alec Mapa, Mills real-life daughter, Chloe Mills, and Christopher Atkins with theme song by Tiffany.

Now let us know, will you be tuning in to the movie for a premise that should delight many a longtime soap fan? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
