Y&R All-Stars: Gina Tognoni, Peter Bergman & Jason Thompson Deliver As Jack Learns About The 'Philly' Affair!

On Thursday and Friday’s episodes of The Young and the Restless, the revelation of Billy and Phyllis’ affair sent reverberations through key residents of Genoa City.

However, none more so than Jack Abbott, who finally came to learn the most horrible of truths – that his brother and his wife were sleeping together behind his back for months.  And, that Billy loves his wife, and she loved him back.  The reveal set the stage for highly-anticipated showdowns and emotional moments for the all-stars at the epicenter of this storyline: Gina Tognoni (Phyllis), Jason Thompson (Billy) and Peter Bergman (Jack), and as one would expect, these three delivered powerhouse performances throughout the key scenes.

Gina Tognoni’s Phyllis visited her therapist, who wonders if she’s prepared to lose her husband if she tells him the truth about her duplicity with his brother.  He wonders if Phyllis is punishing herself, and when the topic turns to the Jack doppelganger, Marco (who Phyllis had sex with) she is overcome when she reveals she never questioned his identity.  She wants answers from the shrink as to what to do, but he won’t give her the answer she is looking for, she has to decide herself.  Tognoni was riveting in these scenes.

Later when Jack follows her home from the therapists office to confront her about what Billy told him – that he is in love with her, Jack demands to know if she slept with Billy. She admits she did!

Jack wants to know how long it went on and where the duo hit the sheets!  Jack is crushed to learn on his birthday, Phyllis was with Billly in the cabin making love to him.  Jack brings up how she cheated on him with Nick (Joshua Morrow) before, too!  Not a good track record, Phyllis!

Nexr, Phyllis adds more salt to Jack’s wound confessing that Jill (Jess Walton) found out about her affair with Billy.  It is then Jack realizes she broke things off with Billy because she had to!  Jack forces her to admit she loved Billy.  But Phyllis tells Jack, she wants to make their marriage work.  He bawks at her and rails at her that she destroyed their marriage and leaves her sobbing, as she punches herself in the leg and crumbles to the floor!  Peter Bergman played the anger, sadness, humiliation, and betrayal and all of levels of Jack being gut-punched, as only a pro like him can.

And, if there was any doubt left that Jason Thompson does not own and command the role of Billy Abbott, you need to look no further than Thursday’s precursor to the big reveal, where a drunken Billy is drowning his sorrows over losing Phyllis with a red-haired model from the photo shoot he put together.  Self-loathing and inebriated, Billy is a “train wreck” as Travis (Michael Roark) later called him to Victoria (Amelia Heinle).  Jack finds Billy and brings up what Ashley (Eileen Davidson) told him – that Billy loves Phyllis.  Billy admits it, and then Jack grabs him and throws him to the ground.  Billy yells: “She doesn’t love me, she loves you!” But he also tells Jack to man up and go get his wife.

Next, Billy stumbles to the elevator to go to Ashley’s office to confront her for revealing what he shared to her to Jack.  He tells her she’s ripped the family apart.  Ashley informs Billy that the minute he and Phyllis gave in to their feelings, Jack’s marriage was doomed, whether or not he found out about it.  Billy tells her she always sides with Jack and that she doesn’t understand him. Angry and distraught, Billy writes ‘Phyllis loves Jack’ on the wall and storms out.  Jason Thompson showed the complex shades of Billy Abbott throughout all of these moments in another star-turn in his soap career.

So, what did you think of the performances of Gina Tognoni, Jason Thompson, and Peter Bergman?  How Jack learned the truth piecing together the information and then getting Phyllis and Billy to admit their feelings and their duplicity? Can the Abbott family ever be the same? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Awesome, all three are awesome actors, love Gina T – she is awesome, she rocks!

Yes, yes and yes.
I also agree with Mr Fairman’s assertion that Jason Thompson owns this role of Billy. And Gina is also pulled in a wrenching, guttural performance. I really enjoyed the scene featuring Phyllis speaking to her psychiatrist. We haven’t seen a scene that good and emotionally compelling since a young Heather Weber spoke to her psychiatrist, Dr Katz.
The scene in which the psychiatrist and Phyllis have a break through session, Phyllis comes the realization that she had the affair with Billy in order to externalize her internal, devastating guilt for having slept with Marco all those months without asking questions or listening to her instincts. Excellent writing is merging with excellent acting and soap viewers are reminded of what a soap opera is really supposed to look like.

PS I neglected to mention that Peter Bergman really rose to the occasion and delivered a powerhouse performance.
We saw him become enraged, now we will see the grief settle in. I liked the scene in which he tried to get through an interview and how he just fell apart in front of the reporter.

AGREE, H and A. Just great performances all around

Team Billy !!

—– GO BILLY !!… kick Jack azz !

(( bring it home, Billy!!))

Okay, good–I am on Team Jack. I want him to kick Billy’s butt and kick Phyllis to the curb.

hey Harry..
LOL yes! let the fight begin, who will be the winner?

((In the end, Jack and Phyllis blah, but let’s hope it’s a good fight!!
I need entertainment .

GO BILLY! Get your pound of flesh !!

Me, too.

I agree. This is the second time Phyllis has cheated on Jack. I say it’s time to show her the door!!!

Hi, Harry, my love,
I am on team zilch!! They are all pitiful. Jack’s puffed-up-all-out-anger is a wee bit too late. His holier-than-thou, “I am da man” attitude was not a one-two-punch in the gut for me.
No attacks, s’il vous plait ….LOL…’Tis my opinion….agree or disagree.
Gina was Grrreat!!!!!! That’s it!!!! Jack should know better than to play house with someone young enough to be his daughter. And, Billy? He should go see a Guru and meditate……meditate so hard until he realizes that he can’t always get what he wants. Especially if that ‘want’ belongs in someone else’s backyard. That is THE sure sign of maturity.

Team Billy too.

Jack can go to hell.

Okay, okay, this is great! I love the competition. However, I am not getting what is is Billy has to be mad at Jack about.

It was gut-wrenching, heart-pounding great drama from a magnificent cast! Bravo to all!

Love it or hate it, the Abbotts actually have drama of their own that does not involve the Newmans. I’ll take it!!! Was so tired of the Newman hour. All three were good but Gina and Jason were the most riveting. Also thought Eileen Davidson was great. This is the most dynamic story line on the show right now.

I hope that Billy and Phyllis get together as a couple and see how they and the other Abbotts navigate that!! Should make Thanksgiving and Christmas pretty interesting LOL!!

Oh thank you, excellent point.

This Reveal sucked and I’m tired of these people getting all of the play and storylines for 2016. It’s time for these three to hit the damn backburner.

And who would you prefer to be front and center? Summer and Luca? That was a riveting romance – not. Or would you like to fill up the entire show with nothing but Victor?

Well, for me personally, I would love Mariah, or Ashley to be front
and center for awhile. Also love Hilary…if she could get a good s/l.

Wow, what a buzz kill.

Ahhh!!!!! Hilary?!?!!?!?!?! Nooooooooooo!!!

Lol, Ashleigh. Somehow Hilary grew on me!

The writing for the reveal was lame (I wanted something biggest) but the acting was brilliant.

Can Pratt just stop with “Phyllis cheated on Jack with Nick” ? They keep saying that again and again and that’s not true.

How is that not true, Laurence? Phyllis did sleep with Nick after Cassie’s death which resulted in the birth of Summer.
Maybe I am the one who is mixed up.

Laurene.
I know she slept with Nick. I said she didn’t cheat on Jack because she wasn’t with him anymore.

Actually you are both right– Phyllis and Jack were divorced- but they were having this on and off again thing– they were trying to get back together, when she started her affair with Nick, so she wasn’t exclusive with Jack when she began her affair with Nick– so technically she wasn’t cheating on Jack, but Jack was in love with her , they were having sex because there was some question of whether Jack or Nick was the father–so its depends on your definition of cheating includes someone you are just dating but not married to- if it does then yes she cheated on Jack– if your definition only includes living with someone, being married or engaged– then no she didn’t cheat on Jack– but Nick definitely cheated on Sharon.

I’ll agree with you Laurene that the writing and dialouge were bad. They were really bad. Thank goodness Y&R has good actors that can make bad writing tolerable.

Thank you, Mary. That clears it up.

You know Harry I adore you but t nah I don’t get it ! Jason Thompson GT and even PB snooze fest ! I like PB but he has never captured the essenc of Jack ! Jack was a arrogant playboy lived him

Gina Tognoni was unbelievable. This actress can tell you how and what she is feeling without saying one word. The range of emotions she’s able to express on her face is just astonishing. If she doesn’t win the Best Actress Emmy, then there is no justice.

I agree, Gina, the actress is exceptional. Her talent has no boundaries…..loved her from OLTL. But, she is not Phyllis. Nonetheless, she has, slowly but surely, created a ‘new’ Phyllus, as it were……a different Phyllis. Thus, I have finally accepted that. Sadly, I cannot dhare the same feeling for nuBilly.
What I see is that she can stand on her own, without Jack or Billy, whom still lacks the furor, the charm, the boyish pouting that is, or was Billy Abbott. We all have our opinions. Someone had described him to the letter…cannot remember who called his behaviot as snarky and arrogant. Yeah, I say, a big baby who wants his cake and eat it, too.
I truly love Jason Thompson….just not as Billy. I enjoyed the interview….appreciate the Daddy in him. Really nice guy.

Jack is a jackass. His protracting with regards to the shenanigans going on between his wife and brother made him look like a fool. He is a man of a certain age, has been married several times to different women, knows his brother inside-out….duhhh!?!?!?
What struck me as odd was the session between Phyllis and the psychiatrist or therapist, whatever his title is.
What medical professional advises his patient not to be truthful to her spouse? I would think the opposite is true. Wouldn’t it be fair to say that ‘regurgitating’ and ‘purging’ herself of that which is festering within her, such as guilt, free her?…..that a relationship is built on truth?
Where did this guy get his licence? LOL.

I was thinking the same thing about that therapist, jeesh!
And agree about Billy…he is too old to be such a whiny, arrogant
brat. But I do like Jack…he truly was dense, but because he really
loves Phyllis. Dont think he could let his mind go there, but now that
the truth is out, hope he is done with her.

Good point Cee. Besides the therapists bad advice to Phyllis, he was counseling them as a couple. Wouldnt he advise her to seek separate counseling or request Jack’s presence?

@Timmm.
Yes, I think that, too, Timmmy. It not only goes against the grain to give such advice, but also, not to advise Phyllis, as you say, to seek separate sessions with different therapists.
This is another example of TPTB taking liberties and not doing their homework.

@Nanci.
Hello, Nanci. Again, we are of a mind. You are so right about Mariah and Ash….heck, even Hilary…as bad of a girl she is!!!! I’d rather watch her be her nasty self, so credible, than watch Billy.
I respect Mr. Fairman’s opinion….that is, Billy is drowning his sorrows in a bottle and a scantily dressed little vamp. That, to me, merely says what a heel he is. Grow up. We have watched this stuff for years, writers. Give us a constructive Billy story.
As you said, Nanci, his behavior is amateurish and immaturish….not delivering the essence that is Billy.
I must have said this so many times. Billy HAD changed; but, TPTB decided to wind his story backwards. Jason Thompson simply does not cut it for me. He could have really shown us the stuff he’s made of ( think Patrick Drake) if the writing accomodated his personality. But, they wanted to pursue, what they thought, was Billy Miller’s Billy. Not working. Different people, different individuals, different personalities.
Obviously, We are in the in the minority, Nanci. Sobeit. To each his own.
As far as Phyllis….well, yes, Jack loves/loved Phyllis….but, deep down the trust was always missing. He just could not face it. More fool he. He had been bitten badly, by both Phyllis and Billy in the past. So, the discovery should not have come too much of a shock.
A wife who refuses sex with her husband/mate on more than one occasion should ring a bell. And, vice versa. As dumb as Jack was, he believed it was because of Marco.
I bought that myself, until her clandestine-Jezabel ‘ assignations’ with baby-boy started.
‘Nite, Nanci.

Hi Celia,
Yes, how true! They totally wound Billy backwards. Great way to put it. We all
I think expected some growth and maturity from Billy this time around and I
loved JT for the first day or so, lol….then bam! I was like Yuk, Billy is more
of an arrogant and selfish brat than ever before, but without an iota of the
boyish charm that Billy Miller had brought to the role. So instead of us
getting a bad boy to love, we just got an immature jerk I could never root for.
Like you said, we are the minority and some do like this Billy, and I really
wanted to, but noooooo way.

Oh yes I think it is going to be a tight race between Gina & Heather Tom. Those are the two most outstanding performers so far this year. I hope it is Gina who wins though. Heather has won it way too many times lol

Very well done by all the actors!! I wish Jack would have kicked her to the curb!!!

Mal Young gets Y&R so far. Undoing Phelps horrible tenure in a few weeks with the Chancellor sets (home and park) being massively changed. Giving Sally McDonald, their best longterm director, more episodes and the important ones! The writing has been tight and sharp. Acting has been amazing. His big task with new HW Sally Morina is to create new A,B and C stories that will rivet us. He’s got big task to get rid of more dead weight. Stitch is primary example. Get rid of him. Marina either has to come up with something fab for Cane/Lily or send them off into sunset. Bring back Philip and Mac and the other character (played by the GL dude, can’t recall his name). Get rid of the stupid bookcase in Chancellor living room. The set is still a cheap imitation of the original. Put Jess Walton on contract. She’s the center of the Chancellor family next generation.

ALL good points tony. I cannot stand Stitch. I will not attack the actor. I will just say politely he shouldnt and wouldnt be with Abby! She needs a new charming man in her life. He needs to be written off with the rest of his family who exited a long time ago!

For one thing, Phyllis NEVER had sex with Marco… she was RAPED by Marco multiple times… and I am truly saddened that CBS, SONY and Y&R can’t tell that side of the story correctly if they went with the FULL story already!

That being said, I loved LOVED LOVED the episodes! Wow! Thats how story on soaps should be told. I enjoyed Jack physically going after Billy and even Billy limping afterward! Love how Jack caught Phyllis (and that he drives a Tesla)! I enjoyed how Phyllis was caught and that Jack wasn’t a whimpering fool when she tried to explain her attraction to Billy with what happened with Marco.

I hope as next week arrives that the fall out continues and we see Phyllis’ bags in the Abbott foyer and Jack telling Phyllis to tell the movers behind her “where should they bring them?”. I hope we actually see Phyllis open the door to her old apartment (love that sort of continuity and don’t want another person getting a suite at the GCAC!) and realizing that she is her own worst enemy because she never seeks help for any problem – she just compounds them more! Like with Nick.

I want to see the conversation with Jill be about Jill worrying about Billy losing everything and Jack saying “I am his brother, not his father. I have tried that role with him and he spits in my face. I am sorry, Jill, what comes to Billy now is Billy’s fault.” I don’t want to see Billy drinking or gambling but do want to see him fired from Brass & Sassy, custody arrangement slightly changed, and Billy to hit rock bottom.

I want to see Phyllis tell Billy that she has lost Jack forever and she will not fight to get him back BUT i also want her to tell Billy he won’t get her either.

The biggest thing I don’t want to see is Victor smirk at Jack’s loss. If he does, I want to see Jack turn the tables on Victor somehow by reigniting the Abbott/Newman feud by Jack swooping in and buying up a company Victor wants and needs. I want Jack back and I want Victor back to being less STEFANO DiMERA and more vindictive victor.

Billy should be fired and lose his kids because he slept with Phyllis?

Sleeping with Phyllis doesn’t make him a bad father.

I never said he would lose custody. But his actions over the past several years show a reckless disregard for anyone other than himself. I suggested the arrangement be changed. Billy is a selfish self destructive spoiled brat who doesn’t see his actions bein his own fault but a benefit of what others do that seem to work in his favor.

As for his job, of course he can be fired. It’s his mother’s company and Jill has to look at it from the point of view “do I lose Victoria because she doesn’t want to work with her ex because of his actions that always merge into his personal n professional life OR lose Cane who will once again be disgusted by his FAUX brother.

Billy should be fired solely for that disgusting photoshoot in the office that is ready for a sexual harassment suit since it clearly was for his own personal sexual gratification that for an actual business deal.

1. Do you even know what is sexual harassment i? Apparently not.
2. Who cares about Cane’s opinion about Billy?
3. Isn’t Victoria the one who went to Mexico to see Travis without saying anything to the father of her children? The nanny is more a mother for those kids than Victoria will never be.

Paul, you are absolutely right–what Marco did to Phyllis does fall under the legal definition of rape.
I also agree that Billy’s questionable behavior demonstrates a lack of adhering to moral boundaries. He aggressively pursued Phyllis while she was in a very vulnerable state.
Let us also not forget that he is the real person to blame for Delia’s death, not Adam.

Billy aggressively pursued Phyllis? Where? When? I guess I missed that part. Phyllis spent the last six months knocking at his door but yes, let’s pretend it wasn’t a mutual relationship.

Amen me too

OMG !!!!! What can I say, paul connolly? How well written and organized is your post? I applaud you for tackling such difficult and complex personalities and simplifying their personae as easily as breathing.
I do not think anyone could compartmentalize these characters with such ease and flair as you just did. Kudos.

Thx! (Felt I wrote too much and y’all would have said “LESS IS MORE, dude!” LOL)

@Paul.
Hi, Paul,
Billy’s behavior was and is absolutely sexual harrassment. The model was there for a job…..which turned into ‘something else’. Who is to say, she will not turn around and accuse him. It happens in reality on a daily basis i the workplace and/or otherwise.
I have touched on this before….making a lascivious comment on another person IS also, sexual harrassment.
Billy’s days of destruction should be numbered. Shape up or ship out; WRITERS. Tired of his behavior.
All your points are sound and well-taken, Paul. Later.

I agree: it was rape. The only reason for lobbing softballs is to keep Victor just the most awesome guy ever. Never understood why Summer was fine with grandpa being responsible for the repeated sexual assault of her mother. Oops? Really?!

I’ve said it from day 1, after Marco bragged to Victor that it was rape. Soaps are mainly written with women in mind and I never understand why rape is written for tears one day… phyllis’ sister Avery was raped and it was written as that…. whereas Phyllis has non consensual sex and not one female character turns to her and says “Phyllis you were RAPED!”. Seeing the likes of her own daughter support her grandfather or Nikki say “come on, get over it now cause Victor saved you from Ian” or even Victoria stand by daddy ruins my respect for each of those characters.

Let’s hope with the new writing and producing regimes that if they write it that they don’t skirt around it.

LOL. Summer does not have the ability to conceptualize any situation. Why? She has not one fertile thought in her head.

Phyllis will probably end up in Summer’s condo now that she is out of the picture, mostly. If I were the Jack, the next finger I would lift for FAKE Billy is the casket as I lift it into the Hearst!

I loved it, Paul…and no, not too much. What I find too much, of which I am also guilty, are WINDED posts, LOL.
Yours is perfect. I appreciate your humility. Later.

I always love when the aftermath of when the truth comes out, and this was a good one. I have always loved Peter Bergman as Jack. It was nice to see that Jack had finally found his true self again and gave Phyllis what she deserved. I really shouldn’t say it that way, when she was an innocent victim in the whole Marco mess. I am still trying to understand how she couldn’t tell the difference between the two of them. I was unsure in fhe beginning of Ms Tognoni taking over the role of Phyllis, she is a wonderful recast. The scenes between her and Peter Bergman were excellent. When she dropped to her knees at the end of the scene after Jack walked out I kind of felt sorry for her for a brief minute. But I think Ms Tognoi played her scenes for all they were worth.AAlthough I enjoy him as an actor, I am still having trouble getting use to Jason Thompson as Billy. But I must say he is doing the best he can. I think Friday’s episode was excellent all the way around. I am really hoping they will start to bring some much missed characters out of hiding so to speak. Mainly Michael and Lauren. I know Michael was around alot lately due to Adam, but I miss seeing Michael and Lauren as a couple. With the return of Jill, I thought Lauren would be around more. They are sisters after all. And I do hope they show a Sully reveal sooner rather than later. That will be the next crises to get through. Hopefully things are changing for the better. I guess we just have to wait and see

I never liked this story– to me neither Phyllis or Billy would have an affair with each other- maybe other people so the story was so contrive and pointless and it create cheap drama but without any heart– that being said I think the actors performed what they got to the best of their abilities– HOWEVER–I find the new camera work distracting– the moving camera made me seasick — the extreme close ups unflattering — those weird split scene shots reminds of a first year film student throwing in strange transitions just because they can– I’m fine with the use of the outdoor scenes– at least now Chancellor Park looks like a real park— I know the new camera work is to break the typical daytime drama look– but when the star of the show is the story, I don’t want the camera work to distract me from what is being said on screen– so hopefully they will find a balance– soon

Loved the acting. Just not on board with the s/l. I know, I know. This is soap. I love all three.

I’m watching again because I’m catching up to be ready for SSM’s stories. Mal Young has breathed new life into Y&R. The ole girl is on fire again, bringing real drama instead of on-the-nose nonsense, and with SSM in place, 2017 should be a banner year for the show.

Yes, amazing performances by all three actors (as expected)! Not only on Thursday and Friday but also on Monday (9/12/2016). And it continues the next week. The acting is so great, I’m rooting for all three characters.
I risk to sound like a broken record, but I just wish the writing were more consistent and less contrived. It’s a little bit less contrived than Adam/Victor stuff the last several months (framing, helping to escape, crying at the Memorial) but it’s still problematic… They had more than a year to show Phyllis having problems with the fact that Jack looks like Marco. They NEVER addressed it, They NEVER showed it on-screen. They showed totally different aspects of their relationship and different problems in it. But now it seems not to matter anymore.
When soap writers do that I honestly feel like they think the audience is stupid or has no long-term memory. But these days, even if you are not entirely sure, you can always re-watch the shows or read the transcripts. When they say Phyllis and Jack’s problems were (and the reason why the affair started) because Jack looked like Marco and Phyllis was running from herself, it totally contradicts the material that aired on 2/1/16, 3/15/16, 3/22/16 etc.

I have to agree with you. Obviously its a logical explaination but it came out of nowhere! As you say, the problem we saw on screen was that Jack refused to go after Victor & constantly defended the man responsible for her rape. Apparently now she didn’t mean anything that she told Billy or felt for him. Suddenly she is professing her love for Jack and how he makes her happy after she has spent 6+ months unhappy in her marriage. None of that makes sense and makes Phyllis look like she loves neither man.

Exactly! And Jack not only didn’t go after Victor, he wanted Phyllis to deal with the situation he tought it was the right way to deal with it which made her feel “damaged/not ok”.
With a couple of scenes on 9/12/16 they nullified 7-8 months of their own writing. They made the character of Phyllis look totally untrustworthy, because how can you trust someone who radically changes their mind every couple of hours. And that’s the reason, why – as much as I loved the performances – I can’t root for Phyllis/Jack and their marriage.

Hi, Eliza,
LOL…yes, I agree…it should make for an ‘interesting’ or ‘tragic’ ( in a jocular kind-of-way), Thanksgiving.
However, only one, tiny disagreement….well, more of an observation. This fiasco/turmoil in which the Abbotts ‘buried’ themselves is directly derivative and connected to Victor.
In my opinion, Victor is perpetually and ‘sublimely’, lol, the root of all that’s evil and unfortunate in GC.

Jason Thompson = Excellent. Peter Bergman – predictably good, but thought the writers underserved Jack Abbott. Would have been more interesting to have Jack show us a different reaction and response, something new, it felt like Bergman was on auto pilot. Eileen Davidson = Superb! (Please give this actress a story line & material worthy of her talent). Gina Tognoni – still unable to bring the depth and complicated portrayal that is Phyllis (hello Michelle Stafford). Her collapse at the end of Friday’s episode was forced and laughable, matching her performance.

Great observation about Jack, Kevin! Yes, good catch…..I think another/different twist to Jack’s persona would have given him a deeper dimension.
It would have been truly interesting to have seen less than an ‘aggressive’ Jack….a more vindictive Jack….a little of the old Jack, but not as despicably extreme. “Auto pilot” is a perfect description. LOL.
Ashley? We share the same sentiments. Love her.

Well, we’ve come to expect greatness of Gina Tognoni and Peter Bergman and we certainly got it last Friday. Personally I expect little of Jason Thompson in this role but he did alright. The happy surprise for me was Eileen Davidson, as Eliza said in her post. We’ve seen the fallout of affairs before but rarely have we seen such a mix of anger, frustration, and helpless confusion as Eileen gave us in this episode. It was a great piece of work and, for me, much more than scene stealing; it was grand larceny. Kudos all around!

Finally, another long, drawn out story was wrapped up! Kudos to everyone, but especially Gina, Peter, Jason and Eileen for their acting. Frankly, I always thought the Phyllis and Billy affair was contrived and never made any. Please stop dragging out the Sharon story also. People shouldn’t have a wait years for conclusions, especially in these times!

Good riddance to the previous head writer and writer. Now I hope Y&R returns to its glory days when ratings were higher. Back then stories were exciting and moved so quickly that we didn’t want to miss a day! Plus characters’ personalities were not drastically changed as they were under this last regime! I look forward to watching Y&R again!

Jack should have pounded Billy into the ground! He is scum and so is Phyliss! I would NEVER forgive Billy if I were Jack! Phyliss, she has opened her legs for Nick before so this is not a huge surprise . Billy though, he is every thing Victor said before and more! We need Tracy in town to strengthen the Abbotts!

Thumbs up, Timmmy!!!! Agree on everything you said.
Billy wanted some sugar because Victoria scolded his behavior. Phyllis needed a different kind of comfort; a sexual one???? With her brother-in-law???? It would not have been more acceptable ( for lack of a better word) if it had not been Billy.
On the other hand; the writing does not do women any justice. After Phyllis realizes, she had, indeed, been raped by Marco all this time, she would typically have retreated into an embryotic-sort-of behavior…..sex would have been the last thing on her mind.
But, Billy is so irresistible, what can a helpless, little woman do????

Embryonic

Cee, I like “Evil Twin” and “Back from the Dead” stories BUT once Marco slept with Phyllis, it was sickening. BUT IF the writers had told the story correctly, it would have panned out okay. But no, they had Red running around like a school girl chasing after Billy boy! In what world would someone be raped, not get counseling and want to F… her brother-in-law? Maybe with the new head writer Phyllis will go under intensive therapy and MAYBE win Jack back if he sees her trying to recover from Marco? Yes, evil Phyllis could use Marco as an excuse to cheat on Jack with Billy BUT they should dig in deep and tell a story that could help other rape victims. AND Double C, my two cents, IF you are going to cheat and do not not recommend it, cheat UP! Billy may be younger than Jack but Billy is not Channing Tatum! Find a hunky guy in the mail room! Jason Patrick, ah, average.

Did you forgot the Billy and Sharon affair?

Sorry Laurene, your right. I forgot since I look at Billy as Jason Thompson now and not Billy Miller and forgot Miler’s Billy slept with Sharon. [Who hasn’t!]

Ps. Your imagery is fantastic. Jack is yellow. My brothers would have reacted the same way…..with fists.
I am not promoting violence; but , betray me once; betray me twice……LOL.

The only GOOD thing about this storyline is PeterB’s performance. I despise JasonT’s version of Billy. He’s terrible and so is the writing. Billy is unrecognizable to me anymore. He has become vile and loathsome. I pray this horror show of a “torrid affair” ends soon. It’s done nothing but make he hate Billy and Phyllis. Oh, and I hope Jack makes their lives miserable for many years to come.

I thought they all did a great job. The Phyllis-Jack scenes were riveting. I went back and watched them again.

Phyllis crumpling on the floor is a metaphor for her marriage. Well done.

These powerful scenes show that you don’t need to have explosions or towering infernos to have must-see TV. This, I think, was more compelling than any of those. I couldn’t wait to watch and see what was going to happen.

Hey, Mo. We usually agree on everything….I love your posts…always on cue. But, I didn’t find the scenes powerful….good, at best. Why? Same old, same old. As Kevin said, and to paraphrase, a bit of originality would have gone a long way. These are seasoned actors of whom we speak. There was no suspense….the revelation of the affair/ betrayal was too commonplace for my taste. There was no true soap-drama so typically expected.
Billy wasn’t even in the running. Just my opinion. He is yet to embody Billy Abbott.
I must confess, I thoroughly enjoyed Colin’s reaction to the sight and smell of all that money. That was, indeed, a thing of beauty; a picture to behold. Too rich to overlook. Excuse the pun. LOL. Truly skillfully and artfully executed. HILARIOUS!!
Comedy relief. Such a break from the mundane.

The whole story was ill-conceived, to begin with – Phyllis is supposed to be older than Billy so the whole thing had that ICK factor.

Secondly, Gina & Jason have ZERO chemistry together – none whatsoever.

Third, while I applaud the actors giving it their best, periods of great acting cannot buoy poorly-written material.

I agree Tucker, Gina and Jason are like peanut butter and mayonnaise!

Thanks, Timmm

I like them both, but together….sorry, no sparks or attraction noticed by this 35 year viewer.

….have been saying it from day one. No goose-bumps to speak of….with Jack either.
Gina, whose acting I admire…..is not THE femme fatale of old. She does not have that sexuality factor. Having a perfect body does not equate to sexy.
In my opinion….(I am not a man, so it does not count, I guess….but, I can ascertain sensuality to a degree….) Michelle Stafford and Maura Wells are the only two who ooze sex.

You speak my language, Tucker.

If the story were more structured I/O slapped together as only Pratt knows how to do, this could have had more PUNCH.

While Bergman is always up for giving his A game to the character, this just didn’t do it for me – where was this anger during the whole Marco/Kelly fiasco??

I don’t think they have chemistry together either.

Gina Tognoni, Jason Thompson/ Great performances! But alas, it is Peter Bergman who knocked it out of the park! I have been watching this show since its debut much to mom moms horror! LOL.. Writers, thank you for giving these 3 actors storylines worthy of their abilities… Bravo

Jack hasn’t confronted Billy yet, has he? What’s taking him so long?

Ahhh, Mo….my friend!! What’s left for Jack to say that he hasn’t said before? For years???? I simply do not want yo hear the same boring drivel. This is such a waste of time. But, it’s just lil’ ol’ me!!! LOL.

Why does jack Abbott tap his fingers together when he speaks?

On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.
