Y&R's Melody Thomas Scott On Michael Muhney Firing: "Tragic Situation!"

The Young and the Restless Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) followed up on a tweet from TV Guide’s Michael Logan on the firing of Michael Muhney and the circumstances surrounding it last week.
Logan tweeted out: “If/when the REAL Muhney story comes out, U won’t B blaming ANYONE at @YandR_CBS @Sony or @CBSDaytime.”
The iconic Y&R actress then responded to fans who are claiming that Muhney’s firing is all the doing of the series executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps. Melody has also echoed sentiments of a few other Y&R stars who have attempted to make it clear to upset fans that Jill Farren Phelps was not responsible for Muhney’s ousting.
Melody in her tweets said: “Not my place 2 reveal but the arrogance of some ppl who have NO knowledge of the situation is astonishing. THE SHOW IS NOT 2 BLAME. ANY actor would’ve been fired under these circumstances. Terrible loss 2 the show & it sickens me that this has happened. Jill is completely innocent in this. So is the show, Sony, CBS, etc. Tragic situation.”

Well, IF something happened such as has been rumored it would sadden me because although he could be irreverent and prickly in his comments it would be terrible if there was something major that occurred ending not only his time at Y&R but also causing him future job issues. Should actors & others misdeeds be kept secret? I guess it depends on the specifics.
Though, perhaps it would have been better for others, such as D. Davidson and Michael Logan to refrain from comment…especially Logan. I can see DD and now MST trying to get people to cease nasty speculation against Phelps, etc if there is truth that the blame cannot be laid at their feet. Still think DD’s comment was premature, however.
That being said….outside of this situation….Phelps & co should be blasted for their mishandling of the show overall. The majority of viewer comments I have seen all feel that the show is on a downward spiral…and THAT can be laid at their feet.
What has been rumored?
If it’s what I think she’s referring to, it is only a rumor placed by ONE TROLL on another soap thread that is too ludicrous to even be true. NO facts, NO evidence, and there would be NO reason to hush it up as that would be a slap in the face to someone else.
If it was, trust me it wouldn’t be so hush hush!
He was supposedly fired from the tv show VERONICA MARS prior to landing his role on Y&R due to inappropriate behavior towards female employees on set who were just trying to do their jobs. They say he also leaked script information to VERONICA MARS fans online and didn’t get along with the rest of the cast (not just the ladies who he groped or manhandled – but the majority of everyone else). So this new info about him isn’t at all surprising given his past.
Okay, I read the ‘rumor’ and if that had happened, he would have been let go immediately. I don’t care if continuity, finish the story, whatever, you escort the person from the building. It’s all very strange.
Finally thanks Mo someone else with a brain plus I believe both of them were at Billy Miller’s party. And she just happens to be an FOJ! I will never believe this you can put any spin on it you like.

they couldn’t have not done something… about employee moral… made inroads to giving actors… more freedom to aspire their imaginative lease on their livelihoods… and given them time to explore… and not be dogged down… by scripts so.. banal and bare… bereft of intelligence….

Gaga hasn’t been humble since she was about four years old and no I am not a Gaga hater because I too have seen her in concert (extraordinary voice) but the woman — just like Kanye and Muhney — is majorly conceited and way too arrogant this young in their careers.

Jim, I agree. All these actors need to take a page from Peter Bergman who has said nothing, and Sharon Case, who also has said nothing but posted a tribute video to her friend, Michael. Sometimes silence really is golden.

Is is just a coincidence that Melody Thomas Scott’s husband is one of the Producers of the show, and all the MORE reason why she should have kept her mouth shut on the situation. She just added fuel to a fire that was already raging. I hope MM sues her for deformation of character…it would serve her right…

What privacy Michael Logan, MTS, EB & DD have been non-stop running their fingers on Twitter for 3 days. CBS/Sony have handled this all wrong as I said before their should have been a gag order & MM should have stayed off twitter also.
Generally the best way to keep something private would not be shouting to the world on Twitter ‘I know something you don’t know.’

MM was told the character would be placed on a 3-6 month break. He probably felt like that’s too long to sit around and wait so JFP pulled the rug out from under him. He shouldn’t worry- he’ll be snapped up quickly.
MM didnt have any say in this. He was just fired and he knows why.
Of course he does, and so does JP. And as he says they were alone in the office when it happened so any speculation by anyone, myself and the costars is purely speculation.
Michael is absolutely awesome and Im totally disappointed he’s leaving the show .I’ve watched this show 4-ever and Michael put life into the show he is what I look forward to see ..Melony is getting old and boring and so is Victor ..This sucks .Why ruin a good thing ..Melony should shut up because fans do have a life ,,she needs a life ..Boring saggy old actress.

Exactly–we don’t know anything and if there is an accusation there is such a thing as innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately, I guess that is applicable to JFP as well. It’s just she has a horrible track record and this why so many fans jumped to the conclusion that this was her doing. I don’t really appreciate Melody calling MM fan’s arrogant though. Fans are right to take umbrage that their favorite daytime actor was abruptly fired. Not knowing why he was fired, and having to read these teasers is only amplifying their (our) outrage. I think it’s rather unfair and rather bitchy of Melody to call these loyal fans “arrogant.” It is these fans who are keeping Y&R afloat.
Harry…no one has a right to know why anyone is fired. Not the high school clerk at the local McDonald’s or even a high ranking Microsoft executive. Employment details are confidential. If its a matte rof national security or there was murder or larceny or child abuse involved then yes…he public has. Right to know. But this media age has made people feel too entitled to feel they have to or deserve to know everything. What happensbeind closed doors…well…the doors are closed for a reason!
No one has the right to know why anyone is fired indeed, but that means certain soap columnists (Not Fairman) and actors need to stop making intimations. How can one defend one’s self against hints and teasers? it’s dirty pool.

Patrick–isn’t it interesting how life is imitating art as far as Y&R is concerned? Victor and Nikki never saw any good in Adam and clearly the actors feel the same about the actor who plays Adam. And Nikki has been driving me crazy (albeit a short drive for me) with her willingness to play victim to Victor. Remember when she crawled after him on the beach after he verbally abused her and abandoned her? God that was hard to watch as I have always rooted for Nikki. Nikki has always been Victor’s co dependent. And here, she seems to be Sony’s and JFP’s co dependent. I hope job security was worth it.
If so bad why let him finish filming. Guess its all about monies. His and the shows or otherwise would hav been escorted out of the building
MTS statements are as ridiculous as Logan; if what MM did was so terrible, why would he be allowed to finish up his work and not escorted of the set by security? It is obvious to me that Muhney was not a boot licker of the “in crowd” and his obvious talent outshined them; I do think Muhney has a huge ego but so what? Eric Breaden is the biggest egomaniac on that set and has even come to blows with his fellow cast member because of it. Why is the coot allowed to be there for decades if ego is a problem. pfft
By the way Logan and the other so called journalist who claims to know the “horror” of what Muhney did to get fired, needs to put up or STHU. No actor currently on the show is going to say anything negative about JFP or their employer companies, not if they want to continue to work.
Remember what happened to Cady McClain when she lamented that Julia Barr had been let go from AMC? That led directly to her exit from the show via the poisoned pancakes. (God the show was terrible then!)
So don’t look to the actors to tell any truths, they can’t. Not and still get a paycheck. But I also don’t think they need to be proactive in kissing JFP or any corporate butt, either.
And I don’t forget that this particular actress, not all that many years ago, almost walked when the show wanted to reduce her salary, as so many of her coworkers had been. But not MTS – the show could sink at that time for all she cared, as long as she got her money.
Sincerity isn’t really a suit she wears very well.

I think Michael Muhney is a great actor. But I am not going to blame EB, MTS or DD for not allowing their friends and peers to be vilified by MM fans who are speculating without the facts. Ask yourself was it fair for EB , Jill Farren Phelps or Maura West to be subjected to the rumors about them? Poor Maura West. She is on a different show, has a new life but she is being dragged into something that does not even involve her. MTS and DD are being told keep silent because the rumors are hurtful to MM and upsetting to his fans and family!!!! I bet EB, JFP and Maura West’s families are none to happy either. I don’t now why MM was fired and don’t care The undeniable truth is that this is MMs problem and no one else’s. I Wish MM the best, hope to see him in the future. @vmc I think MM got too friendly with the Canada guy NB and was feeding him information maybe false maybe true and it has escalated that was one of the problems NB spread the rumor all about MW being fired because of EB. Well it backfired because now NB has turned his back on him too. A royal mess but this is what happens when you start gossiping like you are at a beauty salon. Trust me we will never know what truly went down and that is fine with me. It does not matter to me anymore because the show is struggling so much anyway it has been for a very long time. If they ever get it turned around I will be the first one to come back and start recording it until then I hope this all goes away sooner then later!

From comments previously made by Eric Braeden when Michael has expressed how Victor’s story is usually a rehash of the same old Victor disappears, presumed dead, family wishes they had treated him better (as if they should), then hero returns, I’d say there is no love lost between Eric, Melody, and Michael. So I’m not surprised on her stance.
I would find it too much of a coincidence that so many stars are leaving for whatever the reason, since JP arrived. If truly Michael did something so horrendous to warrant being fired, certainly JP would be chomping at the bit to tell everyone she is not to blame.
She’s certainly not an altruistic person so she would definitely not keep it to her self out of regard for the actor. I have no doubt that whatever occurred was in fact instigated or involved her in some way. SOOOO over this show until she’s gone.
I think that folks need to realize that it is none of our business why he was fired. It is a personnel matter and is no ones business other that MM and CBS/SONY.
In fact, he may rather us not know. It may have been part of his severance package that he goes and no one discusses it. The secrecy could be to protect his future employment prospects.
Am I curious? Absolutely. But until the actor or the show release the story, the rest of this noise doesn’t do anyone any good. I will miss him. I hope that he grows from this experience whatever it may be.
I agree with you but think that veiled comments & innuendo by other actors and columnist, Michael Logan only fuel the fire and increase speculation. Unless the incident was unlawful and he could be brought up on charges – which most certainly be a matter of public record – they should maintain their silence. Their lack of public support allow the issue to fade quicker.
But even that makes a certain presumption that he really did do something that justified his firing. I’m not sure that’s a safe assumption.
It’s none of our business until people go on social media and interviews and discuss it. If I were fired and I wanted to keep it on the DL, I wouldn’t go on Twitter. I wouldn’t grant interviews. Okay, so maybe no one would come calling to me for an interview, but you get the drift.

He’s a talented actor. Whatever mistake, if any, he made is better left unsaid. He s moving on and probably for the better. Y&R is terrible and JFP is slowly driving it into the grave. Didn’t Austin Peck get fired from ATWT for having an affair with then married co-star Terri Conn? They ended up getting married so it wasn’t as if it was his fault if it was mutual. I have no idea what happened with MH but it certainly is too bad. I hope that it was not sexual harrasment or something like that.
I remember the Austin Peck-Terri Conn behind-the-scenes drama from ATWT from a while back. And, if I remember correctly, the ATWT cast openly blamed AP for the breakup of TC’s marriage. Yep.

I have been reading everything that the actors & others have been saying and I’m going to say this again…. Myself & MANY others could care less about what went down!!. SO WHAT if MM is “vocal” who cares, it’s a moo point – what matters is he’s PHENOMENAL & EXTREMELY LOVED by his fans. To sacrifice such a gem & risk people rebelling and ratings dropping is plain STUPID!! Whether its JFP fault or not she should have fired him… And if she “didn’t” then she should do ANYTHING to save him! Sorry, but she ruins every storyline we love on every soap she comes on. So most fans of Y&R are already unhappy cause of her “changes” but NOTHING is worse then the firing of MM. If whoever made this decision doesn’t change it & fast, they are going to see HUGE drops in rating and people won’t stop being “vocal” about what we want!! How bad could it really be… Come on, was it worth it (whoever a ego was hurt or whatever)… Losing the BEST thing you have on Y&R… Although we love many actors on Y&R he is the creme de la creme of daytime – PERIOD!!! By the way JFP…. Stop doing the opposite of what we want or you too will be fired (eg. Sharon & Adam) we want what we were promised BEFORE you came on and ruined things!!!! This Plain SUCKS!!! I took Y&R off recording. I might watch Michael’s last days, but I don’t think I will watch after he is gone, and I watched from the first day it was on. What could he have done that was so horrible? He has a family and how rotten to fire someone right before Christmas. One time it was done to my husband and we had 300 in the bank, but it was a blessing in disguise. He to always spoke up for injustice on the job. I think someone was threatened they were going to be replaced as the lead actor and actress on the show. He is a brilliant actor and I hope another soap or primetime pick him up. I will follow him .

The rumor is michael, fondled hunter king breasts. the actress plays summer newman, she complained to the producers, then they fired him. hunter king is 20 years old.

These mysterious tweets are only adding fuel to the fire. Why they would think blaming MM would make his fans feel better he got fired is beyond me. If he did something so horrible like assaulting someone or stealing something, he should have been arrested. MM seemed totally surprised by his firing– if he had done something so bad one would think he would expect it, or been fired on the spot. Maybe JFP wasn’t the one who made the decision, but she is the EP, she could have fought to keep MM. She is either spineless, letting corporate tell her what to do or only interested in saving her own skin. If the latter who knows what story she is telling to deflect the bad press. As for Mr. Logan if he wants to keep his cushy relationships with these shows he just drinks the kool-aid and reports whatever they tell him to report.

There was that rumor about Austin Peck. Terri’s husband was apparently pretty popular with the cast of ATWT and apparently some of the cast wanted him off the show. I think Michael Park in particular wanted him gone and I sort of resented that they let his character be the one to accidentally kill Brad. I always thought their logic was flawed, that if he he was booted from the show, then Terri should have been as well.
Austin’s situation, I believe, was because Terri was still legally married when she and Austin got together. I don’t want to make an unruly rumours, but that’s what I heard.
Austin was married as well! But I guess Terri was on the show first. Still, it takes two to tango so why was he targeted? Regardless, I don’t care. I think they both acted poorly. Don’t understand why this is being brought up.
twbyz…I remember the Austin Peck-Terri Conn drama. With Austin Peck, it all goes back to this days at DOOL (I think). Anyway, in the beginning, AP got along with and was very close to his fellow DOOL cast members. Then, one day, AP discovered religion and became Born-Again. From that point on, Austin alienated basically EVERYONE on the DOOL set because of his religious beliefs and VERY preachy ways. Eventually, AP left DOOL on very bad and very hostile terms. Later on, AP brought along with him the same self-righteous religious and preachy behavior when he was hired to play Brad Snyder on ATWT. More and more, AP made NO FRIENDS AT ALL on the ATWT set. Then, it got worse when Austin hooked up with Terri Conn. The ATWT cast were close friends with Terri’s then-husband at the time (a fella named Arthur, I think). After Terri and Arthur split up, Terri and Austin became an, um, item. This pissed off the ATWT cast…especially when Austin became VERY OPENLY ARROGANT about his relationship with Terri. Eventually, some of the ATWT cast HAD ENOUGH of Austin Peck (especially Michael Park). They banded together, went to the ATWT Executive Producers and told them, “Look…it’s either Austin or us.” Soon after that, Austin Peck was off the show for good.

This is absolutely unbelieveable. Hollywood has never ever been known for its morals or ethics conduct. This has been going on since they started filming in California way back when, i.e. Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin and the list goes on. I am not saying it is right. But the actress is 20 not 16. And where were they that he had access to her breasts without anyone noticing? It looks as if there are a gazillion people on that set every day. Why would he take a chance seeing he has a family. I am sure he isnt the first actor who was a letcher. But the stuidios probably hush it up but CBS chose not to. Hmmmm, seems rather strange considering the industry.

Last week was it before the cast’s two weeks off. Regardless of what he did, it was perfect timing for him to be released instead of being immediately walked out. Plus we don’t know who if anyone he had contact with anyway. He said he had three more scenes to film. Maybe they were by himself or if his dismissal involved someone else on the set, maybe he had no contact with them.
Everyone keeps speculating, so it’s best to now let it go.

Amen.. Everything you said about MM is spot on. He has brought a quality if acting, that the show has not seen before. He raised the bar. When compared to Eric Braden who say “K” after every sentence, and makes a ‘phone call’ on his cell phone, after every conversation!!!! I wish the most success for MM and I have always believed that everything happens for a reason, and this could be the reason why Michael will move on to bigger and much better things. I will be a fan of his always.
Whatever the true story is, this is another nail in the Y&R coffin.Michael is one of the best actors around….I’ve always loved watching him and will be so sorry to see him go….but Y&R has been on a downward spiral for months with the dark & depressing storylines & the constant leaving & recasting of actors….With Jeannes death, Eileens leaving, Abbys recast, Billy leaving & Kyle being recast again, Michaels leaving is another shot that I don’t know if Y&R can survive…. I hope so because there are only 4 soaps left.

Whatever the reason for the firing, Michael is the best actor on the show. As I see it, the show is in deep trouble-many of the actors have been recast, which does not speak well for the producers. Many friends, like myself, will not be watching any longer, after Dec. 30, 2013. Adults should all behave like adults. Why not fire characters who display values of hatred, manipulation, deceitfulness, like Eric? At least Michael displays regret, a belief in second chances, compassion, humility and seeks forgiveness, and makes it believable. Y&R is headed for defeat.

HELLO! This is why MST released the last statement! No one’s ever happy! When the announcement was initially made, there were complaints all over the place that the actors remained too silent and should have been speaking up for him. And though Im not her biggest fan either, the attacks immediately went to Jill. MM has always been pretty damn vocal. Even HE has gone on the record taking blame. And dont you think now that he’s done completely, if he wanted too, he could have found a way to tell how he was screwed over IF that were true. And if he wanted too. The cast is just trying to save someone who’s known to be ridiculed quite often for her “questionable” (in our eyes) show decisions, from being the target of undeserved childless attacks. I mean in this thread alone, MST, EB, HK, ect have all been mentioned based off of ZERO facts. Sometimes I think we as fans forget we are just that…..fans. I, along with many posters here and elsewhere, wondered why TPTB failed to put a gag order on employees. But now I wonder — CBS/Sony/YR have issued no comment. At the same time, the tweets of some veteran cast members are almost identical: “there’s a larger story; if you knew you’d agree; JFP is not to blame; any company would do the same.” I’m wondering if the corporate execs anticipated a firestorm of reaction and thought that it would be better to have beloved long-time stars release selected facts than to have the company suits do it –feeding the actors the tweet lines. This is the only thing that could explain, for me, the tweets that are so typically corporate “we will do our best to provide you with quality entertainment.” (??? that’s an actor’s response to the termination of a friend???) I also wonder if the legal and PR departments instructed cast and crew on what NOT to say, given legal entanglements with his contract — not to mention MM’s talent, to wish him well, to say they’ll miss him. Sharon Case’s lovely tribute itself was very careful, no narration, getting around the wishes and the missing by saying “4 years, 1000 memories. Finally, a very problematic aspect of that rumor: even taken at face value, actions have many degrees, from the vaguely offensive to the demeaning to the threatening. Someone who “offended” should be reprimanded or fined –while someone “threatening” should be escorted from the building and reported to police.

Karen you make amazingly interesting points. That could indeed be the case. But it may be naive of me but somehow I believe Doug Davidson and Melody Thomas are being truthful. But again you could be right.
And finally to address the point of MM being escorted off set if he is guilty. I was working in a corporate office a couple a year ago and one of my co workers was accused of verbal sexual harassment. He was suspended ( but not escorted out of the building).
The issue was not reported to the police.
He was called back to the office a few days later and fired. So I think it is possible that MM could be guilty and yet not instantly fired.
In the case of my old office they took time to investigate the allegations. This could have occurred in MM’s case also. But I agree it doesnt sound likely given the gravity of the allegations against MM.
I just have to interject and say no matter what the circumstances are behind any employees’ firing, that security always escorts the employee out of the building on their last day of work to ensure no eruption or other trespass should occur. It is done to help support the quietude of the establishment. I have seen this happen 4 times. If MM was escorted out of the building by security on his last day of employment this bears no reflection on him–this is simply a matter of protocol.
dg, verbal sexual harassment, while bad, is not the same as actually touching a person, which is what is alleged here. And that it was done in front of witnesses. If your co-worker had touched a co-worker inappropriately, I hope that it would have been reported to the police (if not by the company, then the victim) and the individual immediately put on leave while the incident was investigated.
I am 51 and have been watching since I was 16. MM as the character of Adam has esclated the show to new heights, allowing the other actors to shine, by having interactions with him. He is the best thing to happen to Y&R since Terry Lester.
As it is now, my daugter will ask “How were soaps?” I answer by stating that it was an Adam episode, or an non Adam episode, and go from there.
JFP talked about Billy Millers departure on Dec 7 and said “Another core character is going to be replaced.” So, she knew, way before that was published. That doesn’t jive with “He missed behaved and was immediately removed, and will be replaced.”
I am beyond shocked and deeply saddened. I personally do not believe he did anything to this young girl. However, because that was even said, he will always have a shadow of doubt cast over him, for life. Also, I feel she may be too afraid now to back track her story, since it’s getting so much attention and she is now in a spot light. I hope the truth comes out. The standards of simulated sexual behavior on screen these days is wretched in both day and primetime TV. And actors have to do some pretty risque stuff as part of their jobs today. They are indeed in a unique position to know the truth. They are also–for exactly the same reason–in a unique position to spread disinformation, either intentionally or unintentionally. I think both MTS and DD believe what they are saying; that does not mean that what they believe is the truth, really is. Nothing about being on the set and part of the cast/crew precludes their being used by people with an agenda, feeding them bad information, because such people KNOW that if prominent cast members get out there and say it, the fans tend to pay attention. (In other words, if you’d committed a colossal public relations boo-boo and needed to do damage control, trying to spin it publicly via cast members would be one strategy you might try, and it would be even more effective if you could make those cast members BELIEVE what you were saying. Not that that’s necessarily what’s going on here–I’m just pointing it out as equally possible.) So I’m not inclined to give what they say any more–or less–emphasis than anything else. If he’s such a danger to this young woman (and thus) all other women in your employ then escort him off your property immediately and send his things home to him–However, SONY had him continue to film for four days? Around other women in their employ? So other women can take of themselves but this particular young woman cannot? Was he under guard while he filmed?

And as a final note if indeed SONY did fire this young man as a result of his actions this is hypocracy at its best–This is a company that denigrates and objectifies young women through its music and music videos–are you telling me this has never occurred at any of their video shoots? And if it did, were the consequences the same? Considering the “filth” that is produced and played this is a rhetorical question– If any of this innuendo and rumor is true shame on you SONY–Firing him wasn’t about empowering the young woman or teaching him a positive lesson–everyone lost in this round, especially you!
This rumor is ridiculous. Eileen Hargis and the person, if it is not her, who started this rumor on the boards should be very concerned. Remember, your IP address is traceable through subpoena and if Muhney wants to sue for the these false rumors being spread, you will be found. Ya might want to think about that before continuing to trash this man.
I don’t believe the rumors for a second. This man is too focused as an actor & father to waste his time on Hunter’s boobs. I think when he said in his interview that he was too outspoken at times makes more sense. Doug Davidson tweeted “The Young & Restless is a team sport.” Michael was very vocal when he & Doug were nominated for Emmy’s this year that he wanted the Actor Jason Thompson to win for lead actor, he made several statements and print interviews saying this. Don’t you think stuff like this pissed off the cast? Don’t you think this would be considered more not being a “team player” than him grabbing a boob? Doug’s tweet says it all. He said he also had hugs and a good talk with him before MM left. MM wouldn’t have been asked to the Billy Miller party if he was fired for such a shameful reason like grabbing boobs. Open your eyes people. The cast was jealous of him and pissed that he wouldn’t kiss ass and toe-the-line like the rest of them. Now one troll is out there trying to slander him. Muhney’s silence after his initial tweets is probably due to the holidays, he is with his family & has gone off Twitter before & most likely due to the advice of a lawyer to be quiet. I would assume since he was on contract till 6/2015 he has consulted a lawyer to see if he can sue CBS for firing him, not to mention, now to trace where these false rumors about him have started and go after those people.
I agree with you Didi 100% – if the allegations were true regarding Summer, he would have been walked out immediately and arrested. CBS/Sony is a large corporation with an HR department and legal team. There would be no way that he could come back and film for 4 more days.
I’ve said it numerous times, and I’ll say it again. JFP is not right for THIS show. I don’t care if she’s innocent in this situation or whatever. She doesn’t belong at the helm of daytime’s crown jewel. As for MM, I like him okay, and it’d be nice if he could be in the Veronica Mars movie. As for Adam, MAB brought back to the canvas what could have been a promising legacy character, only to paint him into a corner so many times he cannot be redeemed. If the character returns, it’d be need to see Trevor St. John, John Brotherton or Roger Howarth in the role.
His character Don Lamb is dead therefore he can’t be on the movie..VM is not a ‘soap’..lol but MM would have loved being on it..i understand him it is/was a great great great tv show..

I would welcome Trevor St. John to the role of Adam, but not Roger Howarth. IMO RH is far too cynical and over the top in his performances. And he channels Todd Manning in every role he plays.
His caustic, tongue in cheek, juvenile humor and adlibbing wouldnt be appropriate for the character.
I agree that JFP is not right for YR. But she has done less damage to YR than she did to GH, OLTL and GL. Other than killing off Ellen Parker ( Maureen Bauer) she pretty good with GL IMO.
YR needs an EP and writing team that worked with Bill Bell and understood his creativity and vision for the show.
Long before MMs firing and billy leaving. Y and r has been going downhill. Could JFP brought in any more boring new characters. New Abby stinks. New kyle stinks. Does anyone care that Dylan is Nikkis son?? Good storylines get muddled or just dumped dylan so vanilla. Boring. Whose bright idea was it to kill Delia?? Boring and deptessing soap w a bunch of bootlickers who go along with writers and JFP destroying y and r. More problems st y and r than just firing michael for whatever reason.

Yes Jay the backstage battles today are far more exciting than any of the current storylines, lol.
I love Y&R. I do. I’ve watched it since I was a little boy, a captive audience when my Mom and Aunt would watch it. I had to sit there and watch it too. That was back when Victor had his wife Julia’s lover locked up in the basement of the ranch.
My point is, I’m a long time fan. And even at the worst of times, I’ve continued to watch and will probably continue to watch, no matter how bad it gets, til it goes off the air. Over these many years, I have seen many different actors come and go. Many.
I think one thing we forget about is that these people are real people. They have real lives, they have real feelings, they do the same stuff we do. They also make mistakes. That’s not above the realm of possibility that MM did something wrong and quite possibly deserved to lose his job for. Will I miss him on Y&R? Absolutely. He’s probably the best actor on the show. But, the show will go on. It always has.
Heroes fall. Heroes fall everyday. We all do things in our life that we are not proud of. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. Who knows! At some point, the real story will come out, whatever it is, so I’m sure when that does happen, there will be quite a few people changing their tune. My only hope is, if MM did something he wasn’t supposed to, that he learns from this. If it’s just the higher-ups that didn’t like him, then the ratings will probably suffer, and maybe they will learn a lesson of their own.
Jeff that is one of the most intelligent comments on this situation I have read since it happened. Bottom line is that fans create this aura around an actor based on their love of the character.
I follow MM on Twitter but as viewers we have no idea of how he or any of the other actors behave on set. MM could have been a major diva and problem on the set. In his own comments he said that he may have spoken out of turn and caused some friction.
But viewers are so quick to jump to conclusions without taking a step back and assessing the situation intelligently and objectively.
People have been blaming Eric Braeden based on the rumors that Michael and Eric dont get along ( and viewer hatred of Victor).
Also they just jumped to the conclusion that Jill Phelps swung her firing ax Michael’s way, lol.
I think MM dug his own grave . I will miss him also. But perhaps he will learn a lesson also.

I believe Melody. Bottom line is that we as fans dont know Michael Muhney and we have no idea how he behaved on set. I believe MM dug his own grave. I dont think the network brass and Sony would be dumb enough to suddenly fire a gifted and enormously popular actor for no reason.
As for YR’s so called downward spiral I say that’s an extreme opinion. YR has had many issues with story and casting this past year, but It’s still the best daytime serial on the air.
No one is to blame that Jeanne Cooper passed on. Michelle Stafford’s exit is circumspect but she bares at least some responsibility in it. Sophie Pollano ‘s ( Delia) exit is also a bit mysterious, but for all we know she was offered a new job on The Millers and then JFP came up with the idea of killing her off YR.
Nevertheless I dont blame JFP and the writers for killing her off. The hit and run story created some of the best human drama this year. And contrary to popular opinion soaps dont always have to be Danielle Steel video romance novels. I like some tragedy and heartbreaking drama.
JFP is definitely not my pick for Exec Producer and she has made her missteps( hiring Hartley Sawyer as Kyle), but YR is far from the train wreck that is General Hospital under Cartini. Neither JFP nor Maria Bell know how to run this show like the phenomenal Bill Bell. B ut the show is not as bad as people are saying. It just needs a more solid focus, faster paced stories and head writers with much more imagination and knowledge of the history. YR has been off track for quite a while now. But I would rather watch off track YR any day over the drivel that passes for drama on the remaining soaps.
Here is another real-life Y&R feud from back in the day. Check it out…
The Jay Bontatibus vs. Ashley Jones feud. JB and AJ never got along all that much. More than once, AJ went to the Y&R Producers and tried to get JB FIRED. The feud basically started when Ashley found out that Y&R were replacing Nick Scotti (aka Tony Viscardi #1) with Jay Bontatibus (aka Tony Viscardi #2). Ashley was VERY PISSED about this…mainly because she was close friends with NS and his then-girlfriend. From that point on, Ashley Jones turned into something of a SOAP D-I-V-A. Yep.
If it was harassment the guy would have been escorted to his car after being fired never to enter the studio again. They allowed him to finish filming three scenes. It would have been very bad for the studio and Sony if the guy made advances at his victim or attacked her for filing a complaint so that’s why I don’t believe it for a minute. What I do believe is it did have something to do with EB. In his interview with HP/CND MM was asked if this incident had anything to do with EB and he changed the subject. If it wasn’t about him I believe he would have answered the question or said something cryptic and moved on.
I think he probably pushed him and there was a huge shouting match and truly you just cannot be doing that to an elderly person. Really I don’t even know for sure but I do think it is just wrong for these so called journalists to know why MM was fired and keep it secret like they owe someone that UNLESS there was a victim involved. Heck, he could have come uncorked at the writers because they have always written him as a hated character and Dylan comes riding in on his white horse and he is greeted with open arms with the exception of the Grand PooPaw.
Speculation comes with the territory if all of these people including Sony are mum and as long as they continue to be mum I’m just not going to believe that he fondled Hunter King’s boobies. It has to be something other than that although for the life of me I don’t understand for his wife and family they don’t dispel the rumor if it is false.
Melody knows something we don’t know. I wish we did know it.
Actually, unless she was there when whatever allegedly happened, allegedly happened, then all she knows is what she’s heard or been told.
There seems to be a common assumption that cast members have some special insights to share because they are cast members. That’s not necessarily true in this case–they may know some of what’s been going on behind the scenes and what’s being said, but as for MTS (or anybody else) saying something like “Any actor would have been fired under these circumstances,” again, unless she was there and saw whatever it is that supposedly he did that got him fired, I’m sorry, she doesn’t know either. She knows what she heard went on, and that’s not the same thing. (She may be in a better position to weigh the competing stories and the two sides and assess who is more likely telling the truth, but even then, it still involves a judgment on her part, and she could be mistaken.)
The soap has been boring lately. Takes so long to resolve stories. I hope days of our lives hire him. I don’t believe the summer rumors. He is a family man. you can see it on how he tweets about his family. The other members might be jealous of him and how far he could go, especially the older actors.

Steve Kent Reportedly OUT as Sony Pictures Television VP in Charge of DAYS and Y&R
On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.
During that ceremony, Kent gave a brief speech giving kudos to DAYS for its incredible milestone. Days is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television and Corday Productions, while Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Kent started his soap opera career as a producer for CBS’ defunct Capitol and then as the supervising producer of NBC’s Santa Barbara from1984 to 1993.

At Sony, before his role overseeing the soaps, Kent was Senior Executive Vice President of International Productions for Sony Pictures Television International department.

After exciting morning for your favorite daytime stars when they were revealed to be nominees for the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards comes tonight 10th annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special.
Beginning at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, several of the nominees will talk with Michael Fairman on their reactions to the news they have been nominated for a Daytime Emmy, share what scenes they submitted that landed in the top five or six in their respective performer acting categories and much more.
Scheduled to appear are: Days of our Lives nominees, Tamara Braun (Ava), Eric Martsolf (Brady) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah), The Young and the Restless nominees: Allison Lanier (Summer), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Courtney Hope (Sally), Bryton James (Devon), The Bold and the Beautiful’s John McCook (Eric), General Hospital nominees, Finola Hughes (Anna) and Alley Mills (Heather), and The Bay’s Mike Manning (Caleb).

51st Annual Daytime Emmy Award Nominations: CBS Soaps Score Most, Eric Braeden, Dick Van Dyke, Guy Pearce Receive Nods
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) have officially announced on Friday, the full list of nominees for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
While Thursday brought with it four reveals of the nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama, Talk Show Host, Lead Actor and Actress categories (as presented by various entertainment news programs), today’s nominations include all the other categories not previously announced.
The Daytime Emmy Awards telecast is set to be presented live on Friday night, June 7, at 8 PM EDT /delayed PT, on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. This will mark the 18th time that CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys.

In addition, The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 8 at t9 PM ET/6 PM PT and streamed on The Emmys apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv. The ceremonies will take place at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles.
Television icon, Dick Van Dyke has received his first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category for his touching portrayal of Timothy Robicheaux on Peacock’s Days of our Lives. The nomination makes Van Dyke the oldest Daytime Emmy nominee in history at 98-years-old. In addition, motion picture and TV star, Guy Pearce, is also nominated as Guest Performer for his longtime role as Mike Young in the reboot of Neighbours.
Speaking of Neighbours, the Australian soap opera also received its first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Daytime Drama Series now that its a revival can be streamed on Amazon Freevee. In addition, The Young and the Restless iconic, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) received his first Daytime Emmy nomination in more than 20 years in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

In the Daytime Drama series categories, CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless each scored 12 nominations more than any other show. Leading the acting nominations was B&B, who landed 7 performers in the various categories, a first in its 37-year history.
In a statement, Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS expressed, “We are happy to once again honor the creative talent both in front of and behind the camera of America’s favorite Daytime programs. We look forward to celebrating the icons who enliven the days of audiences across the country.”

Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime, NATAS added, “Producing the Daytime Emmys is a labor of love for all of us at NATAS. The huge popularity of these shows continues to be must-see viewing for their fans.” NATAS also revealed that Lifetime Achievement Honorees, Hosts, Presenters, and Silver and Gold Circle honorees will be revealed at a later date.
The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in television programming honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.
The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be produced once again by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI). Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie executive produces from ATI.
