Y&R's Sharon Case Interview: Is 2014 Finally The Year For SHICK?

One of the juiciest storylines these days on the number one soap opera, The Young and the Restless involves a Cassie (Camryn Grimes) lookalike, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) hitting the sheets again, and most haunting of all, Sharon getting electroshock therapy to help rid herself of the “visions” of deceased daughter Cassie, only as we know, poor Sharon is being gas-lighted by the lookalike and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). These two have been in collusion to try to obtain the secret Sharon is hiding!
And that secret is quite the whopper: Sharon switched the DNA test results and made it look as if Jack Abbott (Jack Abbott) is the biological father of Summer (Hunter King), when in fact, it is Nick’s! And Phyllis took a frightful spill down a stairwell, after a confrontation with Sharon, upon figuring out the truth and has been in a coma for months!
On-Air On-Soaps caught up with Sharon Case to get her thoughts on the storyline twists, where Sharon is heading now, and if this is finally the year of Shick? Will Sharon and Nick finally be reunited, only to have it all crumble when Nick learns the truth of what she did? Or, will there be a stunning plot twist that will save Sharon’s character from irreparable damage, when now it looks as if the tide has turned, and Sharon is now the victim of a horrific plot! Here’s our candid conversation with Sharon about all the drama … and more!
What did you think of the concept of bringing back Camryn Grimes to the show this time, but now as a Cassie lookalike?

SHARON: I have thought that many times that would be a great way to have her back, because we missed her. We all sort of toiled with storyline ideas of how to bring her back. We have all said over the past … maybe, she is not dead? Maybe, she is in her twin sister? Maybe, she is a new character? So, it’s all been great.
It looks like Y&R is finally getting away from Sharon being not crazy after all! That in fact, the “visions” of Cassie she has been seeing is actually a plot to gaslight Sharon. What do you think of the twist?
SHARON: I am happy about that twist. It made sense that they had Sharon bipolar, but then it didn’t make sense, but now it makes sense that Sharon is not hallucinating. I like that … and all the twists that have come after that, too. The whole storyline turned out really great. I love the way it twisted into making sense!
Recently, Nick and Sharon slept together. Do you think it’s finally time for a Shick reunion moving forward?

SHARON: I think it’s time for Nick and Sharon to get back together, and I am happy about that. It’s been a long time to the point I didn’t think we should have waited any longer. I love working with Joshua (Nick).
You recently landed a pre-nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress category for this year’s Daytime Emmys. What did you submit to get you into the next round?
SHARON: I chose some scenes that I liked where Sharon confesses to Nick that she has gone off her meds, when indeed she has been hiding that from people for along time. I just tell him the truth. She has a minor breakdown in it. For a three or four minute reel, I thought that was a good section.
Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) celebrated her 35th anniversary with Y&R. You and Melody have had such fun scenes within the contentious relationship between Nikki and Sharon over the years!

SHARON: Melody here for 35 years, Oh my God! I know Melody feels the same way, but the Nikki and Sharon relationship and dynamic is one of our favorites to play. It’s fun to do it, and it’s a great day of work and it’s wacky, and the fans seem to love it which is great. I actually hope Nikki and Sharon will have more classic catfights soon! This is also mine and Joshua’s 20th anniversaries with Y&R this year in August. We are already celebrating all year. It’s the Shick year, and that makes sense.
Do you want Sharon to finally be reset and return to being a heroine of the show like she once was? Do you even think that is possible after all she has done?
SHARON: I think that is what the fans want to see … her going back to being more of a heroine. And even though that is not what she has been throughout her entire life, she needs to do that now for awhile. People are ready to see that.
So, you are ready to see that now? And I am just wondering … how they are going to get out of what she did to Summer, Nick, Jack, and Phyllis? How on earth are the writers going to get out of it to save Sharon’s character?

SHARON: Yes, I am! And oh, I know exactly how the writers get out of it, and it’s phenomenal! Like the best thing ever! I could have never thought of it! I loved it when I found out. I am honest when I don’t like something, but I think everyone is going to like it! I honestly can’t imagine anyone not liking how this all comes out and gets wrapped up. It’s so good! I love when there is a storyline and everyone out there has all these different guesses, and yet we have come up with the cleverest way to handle it. It’s so fun to watch Twitter and watch all of the fans guesses! I can’t tell anyone, because it’s so exciting!
Everyone is speculating that maybe, just maybe, years ago Sharon had twins, which answers the question of the identity of this Cassie lookalike! Thoughts?
SHARON: Well, you know that could be, and that happens in soaps all the time! It can happen to all good heroines! (Laughs) It just happened to Nikki recently! Didn’t she just realize she had a long lost baby … who is now Dylan (Steve Burton)?
Everyone on your show seems to have a child they never knew about! (Laughs)
SHARON: We have got Shick working together again, so who knows!

Many have felt that over time different regimes have disrespected the character of Sharon, by her out of character antics and behavior, although in more recent times, giving her bipolar disorder seemed to ease that some. What do you think about where it’s heading now, and about some of the challenges of Sharon’s stories?
SHARON: I think to have the family back together again would be amazing. It really went far adrift from where we started, but some of the twists were very good and some of the storylines were real head-scratchers, where I had to go, “How am I going to play this?” However, some were just brilliant, and no matter what it was, it always a fun ride what went on with Sharon, whether you loved it, or you hated it.
So, what do you think of Sharon’s current storyline where she has no idea that the Cassie lookalike is real and not a ghost? Do you hope 2014 is the year that Shick finally gets back together and stays together? How do you think Sharon will get out of her predicament with the lies she told Nick, Summer and Jack? If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.
TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME
While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric
With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..
In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”
GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW
So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!
FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD
As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”
Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.

I want to see Nick forgive Sharon of keeping Summer from him and look at her in a new light as the Sharon he fell in love with and join together in marriage and have a happy family of coming together as one they have Maria and Faith and Noah and Summer Love conquers all.
I have always like the character, even when they had her act out of left field, Ms. Case always found a way to sell it to me as a viewer. Can’t wait to see how they get the character out of the corner they painted her in– I hope it as creative and clever as she says it is going to be. After all the let downs story wise lately it would be a treat to be surprised and impressed by the writing for a change

Since Sharon was having hallucinations of seeing her dead daughter, I think she hallucinated switching the test results, and Jack really is Summer’s biological father. Was there a scene showing Sharon actually switching the test results? I don’t think there was.
SHARON we love you. I want her happy . It has to be Jack as the dad. She could of been switching hair from a hair brush anyone could of used. It never made sense Sharon was craxy. She has been my reason to watch thanks Ms. Case and for the story
How then did Phyllis hear Sharon in the graveyard & trip down the stairs?
Phyllis definitely heard Sharon in the graveyard. My theory is that Sharon hallucinated switching the test results, so she believes she did, but she really didn’t.
Sharon THINKS she did it. So when she was “confessing” to Cassie, that’s what Phyllis overheard.

Sharon is my favorite character, I was so upset Adam went with Chelsea. I thought Chelsea should of been gone long ago. Adam loves the ground Sharon walked on so what happened. Sharon and Nick are history but when he ruined the marraige with Phyllis of all people. So disgusted. But since the damage is done so finished with Victor getting away with this shock treatment scaring Sharon. it has to be the worst thing Victor has ever done. WHY! Victor has done far worse that burning down the ranch was his fault. Victor lied to Sharon by wanting to make Nikki jealous and he didn’t want to marry Sharon but forced her Done with what Victor and nick better not forgive him ever

They were a very happily married couple for a very long time. Any writer or producer who says they cannot write story for a happy couple is flat out lazy and not worthy of their job. Thr ough ups and downs and problems…Nick and Sharon were together for the better part of 10 years. There is such a thing as couples battling situations TOGETHER instead of constantly apart.

My favourite couple has always been Nick & Sharon. I have been waiting years for them to get back together. Hope Nick sees the faux Cassie & finds out what Victor has done. Also hope they find a way to explain about Summer’s paternity without it affecting Nick & Sharon’s getting back together. Enjoyed Sharon Case’s interview. I think she is an excellent actress. I also think Joshua Morrow is an excellent actor.

Big fan of Sharon! Hope she happy with how her character is written. I am still suspect on bringing back Camryn, although my comment does not reflect how wonderful this young lady has become and if Sharon and her are good with it, I trust them. Braeden obviously supports cassie return so at least for once the entire cast supportive.

I love Sharon case she is one of the main reasons why I still watch this show since MABs hatchet job that nearly destroyed my favorite character. I hope that this is not only the year for Shick but I hope they stay together longer I love this couple. But mostly I am a fan Of Sharon Case I hope they do redeem this character Sharon hurting children just to keep a man is so out of character she got over Nick years ago. I also hate that she was inserted into this story line in the first place. I want Jack to stay Summers dad the way it was written so long ago was that it could be revisited and changed. why bring it up than not change it ? I want to see a stronger happy Sharon once again I hope this regimen can right some of the wrongs that this character has had to endure for many years now.

Totally agree Tim I think everybody forgets they are only given a script to read and that is why it is called acting. The names her character and the actress are called on supposedly fan sites really is bizarre. I always thought the way they wrote out MS/Phyllis and using SC/Sharon to do it was really weak they can not go back but maybe we can make a twist and move forward.

I’m really hoping the switch was all on Sharon’s mind. That really is the only way I can see her coming out if this ok and Shick being able to be reunited . Jack should have always been Summer’s dad and I feel like everything has been set right now. I just hope that Victor is busted for gaslighting . My fear is that if Sharon did actually switch the test then Vic’s evil deeds will be forgotten .
They need to rip Colleen’s transplanted heart out of Victor’s chest and give it to someone who would appreciate it. Not even the great Victor Newman can be redeemed after gaslighting Sharon with her dead daughter’s look-a-like. I don’t like the actor and I hate the character. Many viewers have been waiting for a fallout from all that Sharon has done to Summer, Nick, Jack and Phyllis and from Sharon Case’s lastest interview, it appears Phyllis’ fall and all the time that past was for nothing?
If it plays out that way. I am finished watching this soap because it’s pointess, ridiculous and misleading. Nick raised Summer she is his child and she needs to stay his biologically and otherwise.
once again, Nick is let off the hook. He should have had a second paternity test done years ago, but he did not. Instead of him being tarred and feathered for that, they sacrificed Sharon and you Phyllis lovers seem too blind to see the truth.

I agree. I see Sharon Case as a great actress but I am so sick of the Sharon storyline. It needs to end. I am more sick about how thy have twisted Victor’s role lately. Have watched Y&R since the beginning and his role was always as a powerful tycoon but not so mean spirited. They have it so he can’t even hire competent detectives. I have always been in his rooting section. They only mention Sharon burning down the ranch when they bring out what she has done to Victor but what about letting him go missing after the fall from the horse leading him to near death and while he was away stealing the company and sleeping with Tucker. Think it is a reach blaming all that on bipolar. Oh well that is why it is a soap. Really miss Phyllis. Will be hard to replace Michelle.
Nice interview. Nice actress. Disappointed that other fans like Phick can’t get a break. The character has once again gotten off scot free. As a victim and a heroine. She gets the guy, family and another child out of the deal. Congrats Shick fans! It’s apparent the character and you are greatly loved by the writers. You are very lucky. I adore the character of Sharon and the lovely talent who portrays her, Sharon Case. I was not pleased with the character destruction that prior regimes unleashed on Sharon, and I am pleased that the repairs have begun. We’re finally re-visiting the pain that Cassie’s death caused and how it makes sense that Sharon went into a tailspin, especially after watching her husband move on with his other soulmate, Phyllis, with whom he created another family, leaving Sharon behind and lost. Having said all that, I do wish that Michelle Stafford would return, and I do wish that Nick, Phyllis and Summer were reunited as a family. I’m a PHICK fan all the way, and I think that the mature grownup character of Nick belongs with Phyllis, and I think Sharon needs a new love who won’t cheat on her all the time like Nick did. I always thought Sharon and Diego would be a beautiful couple. Let’s get Greg Vaughan back, and give Sharon some adult love. Nick was a teenage sweetheart, but not her soulmate.
She is the worst character on this show. In fact, she is the dumbest female character on daytime television. Putting her back with Nick is a huge mistake because they were puppy lovers back in the day but they have zilch for chemistry and what they had to do to Nick to get him here is like the worst hatchet job of a character I have ever seen. He comes off looking like a drooling, basketweaving idiot. No man on this earth would be this stupid and no fan who knows this show would ever buy that Sharon and Nick are just made for each other with this undying passion for each other. That is pure crap. The show is loosing fans everyday over dragging out this riduculous story about what Sharon did and if they try to get her out of it or try and change it and then bring back a Phyllis that don’t match what Michelle Stafford built for the character, they are done. Sharon Case is a wackadoo just like the character she plays and trust me when I say this to you, if they don’t make her character pay for what she did and they don’t write Nick to wise up to this creepy idiot, this show for them is over. They need to get Victor out of this as well and they need to retire the lookalike. This is all killing this show and the numbers are screaming it. I think some Phick/Phyllis fans just can’t get past the mighty implosion of Phick, which was bound to happen. Sour grapes. They were never meant to be a long time super couple like Shick. Neva! I love Sharon Case and her character is the only reason I still watch the show. Her character has literally been put through the wringer over the last few years, unjustifiably IMO. SC has been the consummate professional even though she’s had the worst writing for her character for years; she never let it show onscreen, which can’t be said about other actors when they didn’t like their storyline. Her character deserves real happiness now and this stupid paternity switch story just needs to go away – fast! If Phyllis’ attempted murder of two people (Christine and Paul) can so casually and quickly be tossed aside with NO consequences for the character after fans waited years for her to pay, well then the same should happen for Sharon who has a mental illness and has already suffered for things she didn’t deserve (Skye’s murder) Why does she need to suffer more than she has? It’s too cruel. No, I want Sharon happy and Summer to remain Jack’s daughter. This character deserves her life back!
I waited years to see it come out that Jack is Summer’s father because that should be how it played out. I think the best twist would be that the results Sharon changed was her just changing the results back how they should be. I think a letter or diary written by Phyllis (before her “tragic” accident and it should be shown that Phyllis’ accident was just that…an accident) states Jack is the father and a new paternity is done to prove it. I haven’t liked this storyline and in fact stopped watching because I hate the way they were destroying Sharon. Also, I think the Cassie look-alike should be either Cassie’s twin who was taken at birth or a relative and should change her allegiance from Victor to Sharon when she starts sensing she and Sharon have some connection.
I LOVE sharon case and her character. Sharon has Always been my fav from the very start and the ONLY reason I still watch the Y&R.

I grew up watching them grow up and it feels so much like coming home seeing them together once again.
There has always been something innocent and right about them AND its about time to give these two characters what so many of us have been waiting for!

I have been watching Y £ R for decades. Sometimes I correctly guess the next twist. Maybe Sharon will wake up one morning and realize that switching the DNA results was only a bad dream,.
When I began watching, Nick was with Phyllis. Sharon was with Adam. I knew of Shick’s
history, but to me, Shick just seems like a good pair for co-parenting little Faith – can’t
seem to get into them as a romantic couple. And feels and rings a bit untrue as just
yesterday Nick was crazy in love with, and waiting at the altar for Avery. Ok, maybe
not just yesterday, but pretty recently!
