For the ratings week of April 6th 2015, across the entire CBS Daytime programming block, the network saw gains in total viewers and key demos from the previous week.

The Young and the Restless was once again over the 5 million mark in total viewers and up 7% from the previous week. Y&R’s numbers looked like this: Up +7% in viewers (5.03m from 4.70m), +5% in women 25-54 (2.0/13 from 1.9/12) and +8% in women 18-49 (1.4/10 from 1.3/10).  The Bold and the Beautiful also showed strong gains with it being up +5% in viewers (3.84m from 3.67m).

The afternoon talker,  The Talk  was also up +4% in viewers (2.66m from 2.55m) and +11% in women 25-54 (1.0/06 from 0.9/06), and game shows Let’s Make A Deal and The Price is Right also showed gains and performed well.

What do you think about the performance of CBS Daytime? Are Y&R and B&B the best soaps currently on the air?  Do they get a great assist by having a solid programming block leading in and out of the soaps?  Comment below!

Pratt’s version of Y&R is not my cup of tea but it’s nice to see the ratings bump.

ITA with Mr. X … #YR is almost unwatchable as Pratt is allowed to take a 42-yr old serial viewers have come to love and is totally dismantling it to make into something HE likes writing for! (Character motivation, nuanced acting, pacing, history are all scrapped for his patented all-flash, no substance storytelling!)

ok=
It says ratings for the ”week”….. but Just a tidbit;

The 30-DAY RATINGS
It’s important to know that the networks are the ones putting these 30-day ratings reports together, not Nielsen. They’re using the Nielsen-provided data and their own internal data about multiplatform or encores, which could, in theory, be manipulated in a 100 different ways. Some of the networks even tabulate their 30-day ratings differently, so there’s no consistent way to make one-to-one comparisons.

ratings don’t actually measure DVR viewership between days 8 and 30 of a given 30-day period. Meaning that even if you’re a Nielsen home, if you’re way behind on The Blacklist and plan to watch Episode 6 tonight, it doesn’t count in the 30-day ratings even though it aired within the last month. Currently, Nielsen only measures DVR viewing through the first seven days after the live episode//

CBS has its own numbers, perhaps … lol

I’ve always known that press releases touting a specific network are from the network’s PR department. But, what I don’t understand is why they don’t publish the details of their own website streaming, and viewings via OnDemand, iTunes, Hulu (where many ABC & NBC shows are watched), and other channels. Is it all lumped into the press release numbers, or do networks consider this data private and somehow strategic?

I think cbs daytime has the strongest lineup in daytime and has remained intact while abc and nbc daytime has eroded, cbs daytime is clearly the most popular, and a balanced lineup helps their soaps. Y&R,and B&B are in the strongest shape. Impressed with Y&R’s numbers even with some criticism.

Y&R & B&B are definitely the strongest soaps in daytime they almost always rank in first and second place in rating against GH & DOOL

Go CBS! CBS cares about the daytime shows!

The bold and the beautiful has not been my cup of tea in recent years . I love the somewhat extreme / daring storytelling of The Young and the restless which contrasts with the writing of the late Mr Bell ( very good writing make no mistake ) but more in tune with my type of soap consumption . Santa Barbara ( my very dear and much missed soap that Mr Pratt who now writes The Young and the restless used to write for ) , Another World , Guiding light were my favourites and The Young and the restless now has the style of those greatly missed soaps . I say bring it on ! And to Days of our lives i say pull your act together , you can be just as good as the good old folks of Genoa City !

I am so happy to see Y & R along with B & B ratings up. It’s very good acting, writing, and team playing. Congrat.’s guy’s

Still Y & R will always be the best! !!!#

I have followed Y & R for over 30 years. There have been bad periods before (the Volcano mess comes to mind), but right now the show has become a train wreck. Writing so bad that often even good actors can’t pull it off. And the worst one day in Y & R history, when there was 1. a fakey plane crash 2. a building collapse 3. a high rise fire and no. 4, the absolute worst, the stupid Valentine’s party murder which has gone on so long that no one cares who did it. I hope these writers become history soon.

I love the b&b but I am getting real tired of the on again off again with liam and steffy, I really feel they should be together,Hope is supposed to be so for morals and she is pregnant, what a joke, she is like her mother and she plays to be so goody goody, loose the baby and get Liam where he belongs, quit dragging it out, it is getting annoying

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital

For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.

According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).

Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared,  “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”

In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.

No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.

Jack Wagner Open to Making an Appearance in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot and Shares, “You Never Really Die on a Soap”

With the Melrose Place revival the talk of the town, now Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco, GH, ex-Nick, B&B and ex-Peter Burns, MP) has weighed-in on it and if he would show up in the new series if it should find a home.

Currently, CBS Studios is developing a reboot starring Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton. But what is Dr. Peter Burns were to show up alive?

As those who saw the end of the original MP know, Peter and Amanda (Locklear) faked their deaths and then tied the knot with Peter on a beach, supposedly in a “happily ever after” scenario.

Photo: Fox

Speaking with PEOPLE, Wagner expressed, what we all know who watch the soaps, that no one is never, ever really gone for good. Jack expressed, “You never really die on a soap, right? How they unfold those two characters (Peter and Amanda), it’d be fantastic how they sort of tell that story.”

Wagner added, “That was a great finale to be included in, especially with Heather. If I’m asked to come back, I’d absolutely entertain that.”

Photo: Fox

The original Melrose Place aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999. The story featured the residents of an apartment complex, whose lives were intertwined. Eventually Wagner and Heather Locklear dated fro 2007-2011.

As previously reported, the new Melrose Place share that some of original neighbors and friends reunite after a death. The loglines add, “The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you like to see Jack Wagner return as Dr. Peter Burns on Melrose Place, or Frisco Jones on GH, or both? Comment below.
