General Hospital Releases Extended Promo “We Have To Lean Into Hope”

Courtesy/ABC

As the ABC daytime drama series, General Hospital, continues to be preempted by the impeachment hearings of President Donald Trump, and episodes are not being made available on any other platform at this time, two videos were posted in last 24 hours to the official General Hospital social media accounts.

To tide you over (while you are clamoring for all-new episodes of GH) the soap released an extended promo featuring the folks in Port Charles filled with lots of joy, hope, and love.  It’s main message, “We have to lean into hope” – as the series tells us to “sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.”

Take a look at some of the reunions, hugs, and special moments featuring the Q’s, Corinthos, Cassadine and other clans in the promo below.

In addition, Finola Hughes (Anna) and Michael Easton (Finn) along with Jophielle Love (Violet) were featured in another video, where the key messaging to fans is that they are currently taping all-new episodes of GH, and that viewers should keep tuned ans posted to GH’s social channels for updates on when new episodes of GH will return.

As of late, GH has been on the upswing in the ratings, too.  So, it’s always frustrating for everyone when weeks of preemptions hit the daytime viewers  experience to enjoy the on-going stories of the soaps.

Let us know … your favorite moment in the GH promo … your hope for the return of all-new episodes soon, and what you hope happens next for the characters you love in Port Charles, via the comment section.

Nice.

I love this promo. It showcases the very best of General Hospital and is a testament to why I so love this legendary program. I’m happy that the show’s ratings are improving too. GH is really good right now. Long live General Hospital!!! 🙂

P.S. I enjoy it when the vintage/former opening credits are shown. It’s a nice piece of nostalgia.

Lean into hope that Peter will get his pink slip. What a useless, propped up character.

Since O’Connor took over as co-head writer, all storylines are moving along quickly, except Peter’s.

Beloved characters Anna and Maxie are not portrayed as the strong women they always have been. At least Robert and Jason haven’t drank the kook aid. Would be amusing if they have to team up with Liesl to finally bring Heinrich down.

Love Dr. O.

Never mind a storyline.

Lean into hope…. that you put the goddamned show back on the air.

I am sick of the show being preempted for the phony trial of the fake president.

Waste-this impeachment!…i need my soaps!!!

That was wonderful. I love this group of actors and characters who have been with me most of my life. I’ll “lean into hope” that GH will continue to thrive — I am loving what’s on my screen the last month.

I love this! So positive and uplifting and a good reminder of why I’ve watched this show for 45+ years. Looking forward to its return!

I am loving GH and cannot wait for it to return…

The absolute best soap of all times, love GH.

ABC is really dropping the ball big time. They knew these impeachment hearings were coming for a long time. Everyone knew. They had plenty of time to figure something out when it came to airing General Hospital. For them to have no plan and to leave GH off the air for several weeks, a month, who knows how long, is just ridiculous.

Put the episodes on overnight like they’ve done in the past, publicize it so people can update their DVR’s or whatever, put them up on the ABC website, put them up on Hulu, there any number of viable options. The fans will adapt. Soap fans are some of the most loyal in television, we will find our soaps wherever and whenever they air.

^^^^ this bears, mention;Nancy Lee Grahn AND Joe Flanagan. Hot enough to forget Alexis, no?

if it brings Neil, who is the hottest MENtion, since James Patrick Stuart’ Valentin

argh !!!!

“taken” from ; DIRTY Laundry – “…It’s worth mentioning that Neil isn’t onscreen much and doesn’t seem to be a priority for General Hospital.
There’s a chance that’ll change in 2020, but there’s also a chance they intend to scrap Neil and Alexis’ love story.”

why would they do this ???? to torture us with scenes with her tired daughters as she will be WITHout ?

I certainly do not intend to see Julian with !!!! as his sexual stamina is charged less with… yeah, for the record

so bear with; a 2020 resolution… KEEP THE BEEF REAL

meaty up his plenty

even Alexis , is calmed by AND still has that misbegotten soiree she extends forever?

I can’t believe they have no horizontal bop mention… Alexis ?

That’s really an amazing promo!!

As Sonny said at the end “Thank God for General Hospital” & for all daytime soaps still on the air.

Breaking News

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
