Yes, this is a lovely and deserved tribute. But you know what would be even better? Having these two beloved, richly historical characters have a story that isn’t about Jack’s past or unwieldy love life. Or maybe more than one or two episodes per month! Here’s some ideas: ditch the pointless Diane story (is it just me or why the HELL didn’t Phyllis physically drag her out of the reception or at least find a security guard?!), run Ashland Locke out of town, and put Tessa and Mariah on the back burner. That wedding lasted longer than most marriages and got more buildup than Charles and Diana’s nuptials! Noah and Jack’s granddaughter are cute, unless Crystal becomes a problem. It was so nice seeing Kevin, Chloe, Esther, and Lauren recently…keep that going!

Soaphound,
Maybe we are just jaded after so many years, you think? I am already tired and disgusted with Diane and we still haven’t gotten to a face off with Nicki, which we know is coming. I really am not keen on seeing Phyllis and ole’ blue eyes getting it on nor was I seeing the endless wedding. Maybe they are planning something for Esther and that’s what all the reminiscing was with she and Chloe. Is Michael too friendly with Diane or working for Victor to get rid of her as he intends to do with Ashland. I see another whodunit in the near future. Maybe that will be interesting.

My problem, Violet, is that all these stories take too long to play out. Even the interesting ones, like J. T.’s “murder”, take months to unpack. Do most of us still have THAT much patience? When Diane crashed the reception, that was it for me. She’d just seen Kyle minutes before at the mansion…how much does she want? And yes, Jack and Kyle are going to be dimwits and take her side. And that bedroom scene with Jack & Phyllis made me physically ill. WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION!

Soaphound
Everything you say is right. First of all, Iam still deciding if I like nuSummer. She’s not a wimp, that’s for sure. Can I just say Diane is just one big pain in the butt. Now she will be in cahoots with Ashland. Maybe Victor can get two birds with one stone, but nothing is that easy. As far as Phyllis and Jack, I knew it was coming so I F.F that scene, afraid it’d burn what little eyesight I have left, yuk!

Does anyone know what Doug Davidson did to get on the bad side of this show ? Curious as to why they quit using him altogether no celebration party ever for his tenure I guess once the Bella were completely out things changed just very weird!

Bell’s oops

It seems most of the budget goes to Eric Braeden, MTS and Peter Bergman. Also looks like alot of cuts were made set wise and supporting character wise when brass lured back Michelle Stafford and Mishael Morgan. There’s literally 4 rotating sets at any given time.
The shows main actors command alot of budget $ and it seems Doug Davidson didn’t fit in equation.
I think the show would work more realistically if Eric, Melody and Peter went recurring like Tracey Bergman and Eileen Davidson. Less $ spent on the same tired stories with these specific three characters instead they can be supporting the stories not driving them. I d much rather that $ go to new sets, more visits by characters we miss like Paul, Nina, Christine etc. They can prop up fresher stories with newer younger characters. Like I’m sorry but I’m really not interested in Jack finding love at 70 sorry. It’s been 5 years of him moaning….. I’m not interested in Victor using his children against each other for the 20th time…etc..

The article points to vets Beth Maitland and Eileen Davidson who to me have always been near the heart of the show. I always viewed Traci as the one person in the Abbott family that most people liked….characters had problems with Jack and Ashley and Billy, but Traci reminds me more of Maureen Bauer from Guiding Light. People were drawn to her, could talk to her, confide in her…maybe with the exception of Lauren Fenmore in years gone by. Traci is the glue that holds the Genoa City together. She’s had her tragedies and heart aches, but everyone gets along with her. I always look forward to her on screen visits.

Eileen Davidson’s Ashley had much more story, more deeply involved with other characters in GC. She is still the beauty when she’s in town. She’s smart, gutsy and amazing! The Abbott family is still core to the show, and even though I would love to see both actresses on more, I’ll take what I can get.

Don’t know what happened to the Esther story a couple days ago but I love this actor she met online. Over the years he’s been on a few comedy shows I’ve watched, Friends, etc. His name is Sam McMurray and had a famous step-mother, actress Leslie Woods.

Did anyone else notice that the cupcakes they made feature a photo of Brenda Epperson as Ashley Abbott and not Eileen Davidson! How funny!
