Kelly Thiebaud Shares Parting Thoughts On Her GH Exit: “Being On This Show, Being in Your Living Rooms Everyday, is an Experience I Will Cherish for the Rest of My Life”

Photo: ABC

If you haven’t already cried yourself a river over the demise of Dr. Britt Westbourne on last week’s episodes of General Hospital, we suggest you grab some Kleenex and then check out the heartfelt farewell video posted by Britt’s portrayer, Daytime Emmy-winning actress, Kelly Thiebaud.

On her Instagram account on Sunday, Thiebaud not only shared her parting thoughts and ‘thank you’s’ to the cast, creatives and the fans, but posted along with it a beautiful look-back at her time on the show.

From Britt’s beginnings were she was a thorn in Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sabrina’s (Teresa Castillo) side, to her relationships with a young Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) and Emma Scorpio Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer), to her one-of-a-kind friendship with her bestie, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), to her burgeoning relationship with Jason (Steve Burton) before he died, to her work as a doctor and her relationship with her mutter, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), it’s all contained along with behind-the-scenes moments in Thiebaud’s farewell video.

In her parting thoughts, Kelly expressed: “A tribute to all the years I’ve been lucky enough to entertain you as Dr.Britt Westbourne and lucky enough to work with such wonderful and kind people. Being on this show, being in your living rooms everyday, is an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you for all of the amazing support over the years. There are so many people not in this video only because I didn’t get a picture with you but I truly miss seeing all of your faces at work. One day I hope to share all of my stories about being on General Hospital with my kids and what a fun time I had. I love you all. ❤️ p.s. sorry this video is so long 😬 #brittwestbourne”

Transinvisibility: She shared a role with Terry Randolph. It has been a week and no scene with Terry finding out, grieving, etc. Did this relationship not merit a mention when relationships that were quite old with people dead got mentioned?

Donald???

Politics isn’t everything in life. It may be the reason Cassandra James has a job, but in a production like GH, there’s so much to consider…

Like the truth, that since the character of Terry was introduced, there’s been not one single line of dialogue from her mouth that’s not been whiny, monochrome, and just flat. If Terry’s portrayer could act, they probably would have been front and center.

Does ‘transvisibility’ mean we have to settle on mediocrity, and watch someone read through their lines rather than act them?

I think GH made the right choice…
Just sayin’

Terry Randolph also appears in a show called “Sort Of” so perhaps she was busy with other filming and other projects.

By the way… do check out “Sort Of” it is hilarious and quite a smart show.

my apologies, I meant Cassandra James, the actress who plays Terry Randolph, is on “Sort Of”

You are truly one classy lady Kelly. Thank you for all you gave to bringing Britt Westbourne to life and such a pleasure to watch. I will be watching Station 19 now just to see your acting talents.

Me too but I have one question why wasn’t anything said about epiphany on gh something should of been done or said she was one hell of lady I loved her dairly.

If a Devil remembers correctly, GH is currently taping about 2 months ahead of time, so that being the case they haven’t caught up to Epiphany’s passing yet.

Yes, either Kelly or Parry posted something indicating they filmed the karaoke scene on November 17.

The writers need to think of a way to explain Epiphany’s departure. Normally, they would write the character dying. However, they just killed off the (co) Chief of Staff. To have the head of nursing die right after (despite real life events) might be too much too soon. Assuming they’ll add Britt’s photo to the memorial wall (with Steve, Jessie, Alan et al).

They’ll probably do a tribute episode to Sonya sometime in the Spring. Maybe a title card “In Loving Memory” later this month.

Hate to see her go

I loved watching you on General Hospital. I will miss Britt.

True heart.

I like Kelly and I liked the character of Britt. I miss Britt, but I’m glad we didn’t have to see her suffer further with Huntington’s. I hope one day they can bring Kelly back as a different character, if she wants to.

I was beginning to enjoy Brit’s performance more& more every day. Losing Jason & Britt were 2 of the biggest mistakes ever. Their chemistry was like no other. Best wishes to u!❤️

Kelly you did quite a show, I admired you everyday, every minute and I will miss you.

Breaking News

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
