GENERAL HOSPITAL: Spencer Comforts Trina After Curtis Is Shot, But Esme Looms

Photo: ABC

Talk about wanting to throw things at your TV or computer screens! On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, Curtis (Donnell Turner), who has been shot in the back at the Metro Court, has been taken into surgery with a bullet most likely lodged in his spine.

While Curtis’ loved ones gather at GH including: Stella (Vernee Watson), Marshall (Robert Gossett), Portia (Brook Kerr), Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Curtis’ good friend, Nina (Cynthia Watros), all are reflective, somber and worried that he might not survive, or potentially be paralyzed.

Meanwhile, Esme (Avery Pohl) is seemingly making in-roads with Spencer as they spend time together in baby-raising class with little Ace. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) comes upon them after the class and sees Esme cozying up to Spencer.  She then has some choice words for Esme including how she blew up her life with the viral videotape of Joss having sex with Cameron that she never apologized to her for. Josslyn says she should be behind bars, and that she can see her game with Spencer.  Esme swears again Spencer is nothing to her but Ace’s brother and she’s not the same person she was.  Sure.  Joss tells Dex (Evan Hofer) she knows that Esme is a sociopath and just wait and see, her vengeful side will return.

Once Spencer finds out that Trina is at the hospital awaiting news on Curtis, (that was via Josslyn in front of Esme) he goes to her with an embrace. He offers to throw his financial weight around to help Curtis, but Portia says that’s not what they need right now.

Esme happens by and sees Sprina hugging. She offers up her condolences to Trina, making sure she knew the she was with Spencer when Josslyn gave them the news about Curtis. Trina gives Esme a side-eye and an eye roll, to boot. Esme makes her exit, and Spencer promises Trina that he will be there through this ordeal with her father, and assures her that he’s not going anywhere. On the other side of the hospital floor, Nina comforts Stella, Marshall, and Portia and assures them that Curtis loves each of them so much. Everyone feels guilty in some way.

So, how annoyed are you with this story that Esme is weaving her way into Spencer’s life? Is he that gullible or playing her again? What will be the upshot of Curtis’ surgery? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

The wicked witch, Esme, returns….or was she ever gone?

I’m extremely annoyed Esme hasn’t vacated this show yet! She has nowhere else to go which is why she’s always inserted into Spencer and Trina’s storyline. I wish they would hurry up and move on from whatever crap they are about to do and just let Spencer and Trina breathe for a bit!! Have romantic dates and fun with each other! Perhaps some intimacy which they both desperately want but neither has a place of their own! It’s time to focus on Spencer and Trina’s relationship and not all this angst!

I agree with Tricia! The story-line with Esmo has played out!! Let Spencer and Trina have their date nights, ILY’S, and their quality time!! It’s been two years already!!

I totally agree with your statement

Very annoyed, that evil psycho needs to be in prison where she belongs for all of the damage she has done just because she has amnesia and a baby doesn’t change anything she’s a sexual predator she needs to pay for her crimes. Spencer is not her boyfriend nor is he Ace’s father he is the brother and he shouldn’t be taking parenting classes either.

Esme needs to get her memory back and face the consequences for her actions.

Esme and josslyn born need to sit down somewhere tou have yet to give Trina a chance you have molly and TJ so whats wrong with Spencer and trina

Spencer standing by Trina during Curtis ordeal? Where is he? Didn’t see him there in the W.R with her or there when she came sniveling out of Curtis’s room.

GH’s Adam J. Harrington Reveals the Behind the Scenes Story of Becoming John “Jagger” Cates

When Adam J. Harrington showed up on all-new episodes of General Hospital, it shocked viewers of the long-running ABC soap opera, because he was the recast John “Jagger” Cates.

The character was previously played more than 30 years ago by Antonio Sabato Jr., and as fans of the soap have seen, Harrington’s version of Jagger and his circumstances are quite different. As it turns out, Adam was in the dark at what GH role he would be eventually cast in.

Speaking with GH co-stars, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) on their Daily Drama podcast, Harrington shared the behind the scenes journey that led him to being the new version of John.

Photo: ABC

Adam shared, “I went into a chemistry read with Laura Wright (Carly) for a different character. I was told I wasn’t going to get the character, but hang tight, there’s something else. Then, that kind of took a couple of months and now we’re in December (2023), and then all of a sudden it was like, ‘here you go.'”

Once Adam was given a role on GH, he explained, “I still didn’t know who I was playing. I should have asked at that point. So the deal gets done, and I go, ‘By the way, who am I playing?'”

Photo: ABC

That’s the point where the GH powers-that-be let him in on just what he was about to take on. “They sent me a one sheet with John “Jagger” Kates in the description,” shared Adam. “It wasn’t until I went on YouTube and spent a good three or four days, watching all of Steve (Burton’s) storylines in the nineties (that I figured it out). By the way, they were fantastic. The production value … it was amazing the level of the acting, and the relationships you guys had. I really enjoyed it. So, that’s how I found out (about the character).”

Burton and Anderson asked Harrington about his thoughts on being a recast. “I thought it was important to go back to his circumstances and his upbringing, because that wouldn’t change no matter what he had become in the 20 or 30 or 70 years since we’ve seen him,” Adam shared. “I looked at what Antonio Sabato Jr. did and thought, ‘There was no way in hell I can even touch that or even come close, nor do I want to.’ The only thing I recognized was given his upbringing and what he’d gone through, it was a common sense of humor in there that’s either used defensively or as a way of getting through the world.”

As to how Adam should approach the part given it was a recast, he noted, “What I had been told from the brass is don’t worry about following that same emotional storyline. He’s gone away for a very, very, very long time, become successful and he’s come back. Basically, they were saying, you bring in you.”

Being part of the fabric of GH for awhile now, Harrington expressed, “I will say this about my experience so far. I am in absolute awe of the cast and the crew and watching how you do this on a train that refuses to stop. I said to a friend, ‘I’m on a train that’s going a hundred miles an hour, and they slow down to about 90 to kick you off after your scene is done.'”

So, what are your thoughts on Adam as John “Jagger” Cates after now seeing how the role has evolved and changed since its original version over 30 years ago? Comment below.
