Hayley Erin Talks On Her Second Chance to Return to The Young and the Restless

Photo: JPI

Hayley Erin began her soap opera career on The Young and the Restless at 14 in the role of Abby Newman.  She later went on to score a Daytime Emmy for her performances as Kiki Jerome on General Hospital – a role she last played from 2015-2018, and with a return appearance in 2019.

Now, Erin is coming home again to her original soap stomping grounds in Genoa City when she debuts in October as a new character, Newman Media businesswoman, Claire Grace.

Y&R viewers recall the last time Erin was on Y&R as Victor (Eric Braeden) and Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) daughter (2009-2010), but that role is currently played by Melissa Ordway. As Erin noted in a discussion with Soap Opera Digest, that only in soap operas can something like this happen for an actress!

Hayley expressed: “I love the rules, or lack of rules, in the soap universe. I had never expected to come back, and I didn’t think it would happen, but I had hoped! I always thought, ‘Maybe they’d let me.’ And I’m really happy that the soap opera universe is so fluid and these kinds of things can happen.”

As to her new Y&R role, Erin is very excited to jump in to the skin of the character,  expressing: “What I love about Claire is that she is a fantastic businesswoman, which is something so different than what I’ve gotten to play before. She’s smart and driven, and a lot more put together than I am!”

So, who do you think Claire will be involved with in the romance department on The Young and the Restless, when Hayley Erin beings her second run on the CBS daytime drama series? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

How about a second chance on GH. I would be happy to see her in a new GH role too.

Me to I really like her strong convictions
She is sorely missed

Yes!!

Could Griffith pen something actually amazing in which it turns out Claire is the child Tracy thought she aborted or misscarried back in the old days when Tracy had that pregnancy when Danny helped her through it?! I forget the details but I remember Tracy going through a hard time and Danny offering to marry her! Danny’s back soon and Tracy really deserves a offspring after Maria Arena Bell unforgivably killed off Coleen. Also that way Abby could be sidelined and Claire could become the next generation of Abbotts along with Kyle!

Please. Traci deserves a second chance to be a loving mother. I was so disgusted at how the writers killed off Traci’s daughter, Colleen, just so Victor Newman could get her heart. Give Traci the chance to be a mother again. On another note, I love Beth Maitland’s (Traci Abbott) new hairdo.

Totally agree in all

I.love the idea of Claire being Tracy’s daughter. She deserves a great storyline, and we’d love to see Tracy in that motherly role again.

Amen
Tracey needs peace and happiness I’m hoping she and Danny get back together

That would be Awesome totally on board
If I remember rt tho she miscarried shortly after the attempted suicide with gas fumes
Cricket and Danny found her
This is Soap land anything is possible

Me too, good idea!

Love that idea

I don’t remember that storyline but killing off Coleen was just senseless. They could have gotten a heart another way maybe from one of his dead horses at the ranch. Sorry to the many Victor lovers but I’m not one. Sick of that old man dictating what everyone’s life should be. I hope to see Adam best him before he croaks.

Maybe Claire can be a love interest for Adam. Anything to get him out of Nick/Sally Hell.

I am so sick of adam newman I wish he would leave Sally alone, so her and Nick can be happy together. Hell, I’m sick of Adam Newman.

I cannot stand that Neanderthal Nick Newman. Adam and Sally belong together.

They love that 5 time murderer

Who is that?

I used to rebuke Adam for his every move and word—But, I love how skilled of an actor Mark is—Adam has evolved into the tortured antihero. Marks plays the part like a fine-tuned violin.
As far as Sally? She gives him silent signals. She still has a thing for him and he feels it.
She’s no Mother Theresa, either.
Nick, as Sharon, should look for someone his own age. He has grown into the biggest fool; the greatest hypocrite of all time—- An elephant in a china-closet!!

I used to feel as you do but finally accepted the fact that Sally and Adam are meant to be together. She’s leading Nick along, trying to talk herself into loving him but Adam is all she can think of.

Just hope it’s not with Nick, after Sally and he break up. It’s sure to happen when all she can think of is kissing Adam. I love Nick but he needs someone closer to his age, like Sharon and poor Christian needs a mother, wherever he is. If this were real it would be disgusting, does the kid ever see his dad, grandparents or any of the family.?

I LIKE THE THE OLD SUMMER SHE CAN FIGHT HER PROBLEM AND I WANT KYLE AND SUMMER TOGETHER FOR EVERY ……. TEAM SUMMER AND KYLE ABBOTT

Don’t agree those two are petulant children and toxic for each other

I’m glad Hayley Erin gets a new opportunity to play a different character. As far as a love interest, it’s probably going to be Kyle.

Please NO! Kyle is just creepy! I wish he and Audra would just run away together and never come back! They deserve each other!

NO, it better be Chance. He’s a real man not that little mommy’s boy, bedding that slut Audra.

She’s good! Happy to have her back. Unfortunately, they might pair her off with Vile Kyle.

WELCOME BACK YOUNG TALENTED ACTRESS YOU BEEN MISSED

Why do Young and Restless keep bring back old and dead characters

Because it’s the shows 50 year anniversary, they’re bringing in familiar characters and faces to showcase Y&Rs rich history.

Well at least this is a worthwhile one, unless they change her character.

If Claire is Tracy’s daughter, shouldn’t the actress be older?

Pair her up with Adam as his newfound love, it would be the get-over medicine he needs to move passed his hang-up on Sally. Especially since Adman is on this new part to do better and be better.

First of all, he’s too old, second of all he’ll eventually be back with Sally.

I have this feeling she’s Tucker McCall daughter and Devon’s half sister, it would make sense who Victor sold his investment stock too of Chancellor

Well, we now know that it was Mamie who bought the C/W stock!

I think Mamie is investing not buying C.W stock.

Well, let’s hope she was right when she told Nicki her parents were dead. I would hate more than anything for her to be remotely related to that horrible, despicable Mc Call. I hate that S.O.B!

Oops, think I spoke too soon.

I would love if it turned out to be claire grace is tucker daughter.

She was really good today. Just as I remember her on GH, beautiful with her “stuff “together, sure impressed me and most importantly Nicki Newman who was interviewing g her. Imagine putting her nsxt to Abby and Summer , they don’t stand a chance, no pun intended. If she gets involved with anyone please let it be Chance and not Kyle.

I really wish she came back as kiki jerome I wish they would bring kiki back from the dead for ava do the kiki jerome is alive twist and giffin returns with her.

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.
