Photos: JPI

The soap opera world is in mourning following the the news on Tuesday of the passing of Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas, GH and ex-Stefan, DAYS) at the age of 50-years-old.  According to Tyler’s longtime co-star and friend, GH’s Maurice Benard (Sonny), Tyler died in his apartment in San Diego, California.  No further details on his death have been made available at this time.

Since the news of Christopher’s passing, many of the actor’s General Hospital and Days of our Lives co-stars have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to their former colleague. Tyler played the role of the dark prince of the Cassadine clan on GH from 1996-2016. His final daytime soap stop was that of Days of our Lives, where he originated the role of Stefan DiMera from 2017-2019. Currently, that role is played by Brandon Barash.

Below, are just some of the touching remembrances for Tyler. We will continue to update this post as more tributes to pour in across social media.

Sarah Brown (ex-Carly, ex-Claudia, GH) “I’m gutted. Tyler Christopher was a joy to work with. His smile & sense of humor lit up the stage. I enjoyed every minute of our time together. You never what someone else is silently coping with. R.I.P. old friend My condolences to his family & many fans around the world.”

Steve Burton (ex-Jason, GH, Harris, DAYS):  “This hits hard. Really hard. Sometimes I use the word ‘brother; loosely. But when I called Tyler my brother, I meant it ..there’s a group of us…that have done and still would do anything for each other. That’s a brother. We lost one. A beautiful and talented soul at that. It hurts. Thank you for the memories brother Ty. Love you. See you in Heaven. ”

Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt, GH) “I was lucky enough to get partnered up with some wonderful leading men on General Hospital , Tyler was one of them. I learned so much about working on a Soap during that time together. He was a great scene partner and was always kind to me. I remember feeling anxiously excited to get to work with such a legend on the show. Before getting on GH, I would sometimes watch the show and my favorite couple was Nikolas and Emily, so you can imagine how excited I was when we got paired up. Tyler was so talented and made you feel something when you watched him. My heart breaks for his family and the loss they are dealing with. You will always be remembered Tyler. Rest in peace.”

Sean Kanan (ex-AJ, GH, Deacon, B&B) “Stunned to hear that Tyler Christopher passed away. I have no words. RIP my friend.”

Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer, GH) “Tyler we never had the opportunity to work with one another but in the process of working on GH I’ve watched tons of tape on you. You were one hell of an actor and it pains me to know that you’re gone. Thank you for the meaningful contributions you made to our medium. Rest easy.”

Stephen Martines (ex-Nikolas, GH): “Tyler Christoper and I were always cordial and although our versions of Nikolas Cassadine may have been different, we loved the character the same. This is such a sad loss for General Hospital and the fans. My heart goes out to everyone. Love, light and prayers.”

Jon Lindstrom (Kevin, GH)  “Oh man. Tyler Christopher.  Flight of Angels. #RIP”

Kathleen Gati (Liesl, GH):  “I am once again devastated by yet another loss of a wonderful colleague and beautiful human being. Deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of Tyler Christopher”

Kate Mansi: (ex-Abigail, Days, Kristina, GH): Just heard the news about Tyler. He was a force. Someone just sent me a story when we first aired together and I was quoted as saying, “Tyler and I really hit the ground running. He was electric.” I remember feeling exactly that. I’m proud of him and the way he spoke up about mental difference and was vocal about his struggles finding peace and balance in hopes of helping others. Sending my love to his family and kids.”

Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny GH, Stefan, DAYS): “Rest in strength and peace, friend.”

Ron Carlivati (ex-head writer, GH and current head writer, DAYS): “A super talented actor and a super sweet guy. #RIP Tyler Christopher.”

Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda, GH): “Ugh another loss, waaayyy too young. RIP Tyler Christopher.”

Laura Wright (Carly, GH): “Thank you for the memories Tyler- rest easy my friend ❤️🙏🏻💔”

Adam Huss (Nikolas, GH) “This is so tragic and heartbreakingly sad. My heart goes out to his entire family and friends who loved him. Brilliant actor who inspired me (and continues to ) in many many ways.”

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH) “Life can sometimes prove hardest for the sweetest & tenderest souls. I hope Greyson & Boheme can 1 day find these posts online to see how truly cherished their dad was.”

Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden, GH): “Gut punched. Sweet Tyler. I only worked with him briefly but his kindness left it’s mark. We had many talks about his kids whom he loved so dearly. Praying for them and his family. May he rest in peace.”

Mary Beth Evans (ex-Katherine, GH, Kayla, DAYS):  “Tyler. I am heartbroken.  I first met Tyler Christopher when he was in his 20s and joined General Hospital. He was always the sweetest guy … kind and thoughtful. And what an actor! Years later, I was so honored to share our Emmy night! And when he came to Days of Our Lives, I was so excited because he was so good and I knew the show would love him. My heart aches for Tyler’s beautiful children, family and loved ones. I know he fought the good fight and hope that he can now rest in peace.💔”

I think there is a tendency to think soap actors are just a pretty face but he was such a good actor so talented I just loved him.

Years ago I read it in her book Jeanne cooper on Y&R had a drinking problem Bill Bell helped her sent her to rehab etc saved her life and I wish other producers had that courage it’s nice to say flowery things but bell put his money where his mouth was saved JC and we got to enjoy a character for many years! Courage is all it takes

Yes they should’ve stepped up and helped Tyler.

Who says:

A) they didn’t
B) why is it their responsibility to do that for him?

Yes i agree. Someone should have gelped both tyler and billy i was surprised ti hear that bell did it 4 jeannue cooper someone shld have done it 4 both of these Spectular actors as well. I loved both these actors and am feeling their loss though i am just a fan rest easy guys.

Sweet tributes but the hard question to ask is this– when Tyler was struggling and homeless did any of his former GH or Days costars help him? Why was he homeless? It looks like Maurice did but how about anyone else? Why was he homeless? He needed help.

How do you know that people didn’t try and help him? We have no idea what really went on and the personal details of his life, as far as who might have tried to help him. It’s easy to pass judgment from afar without knowing all the facts. People with addiction issues can only be helped if they want to accept the help. That also must be considered. The bottom line is we don’t know all the facts. So making comments like this person should have helped him, or that person should have helped him, really aren’t appropriate.

Its very appropriate. You see all these tributes but then hear Tyler in his interview with Maurice talk about being homeless. It didn’t sound like in that interview he received much help. As Bill Bell helped Jeanne Cooper when she had a problem with alcohol, why didn’t these people help Tyler instead of firing him?

We don’t know all the circumstances in either Tyler’s nor Jeanne’s cases. So, no judgements should be cast on any part.

We are also talking about two distinct (but semi-related issues. Alcoholism and mental illness. Both of which impact individuals in very different ways.

Yes, cast and crew can (and should) still help, but remember there’s still a business to be run. If someone’s repeated actions keep causing disruptions in the workplace, steps have to be taken to ensure a safe and functioning environment for all employees.

Again, we don’t know all the details. What we do know is an incredibly talented man is gone. And that is quite sad.

Once again, you have no idea who helped Tyler and who didn’t. Don’t make assumptions and pass judgment on things that you don’t have the full facts about. It’s wonderful that Jeanne Cooper received help and decided to go public with it in her book. That doesn’t mean that people didn’t try to help Tyler. It’s tragic what happened to Tyler and I understand that you’re looking for someone to blame, but making assumptions and trying to somehow blame ABC, Frank Valentini, whoever you’re trying to blame here, is really distasteful and offensive.

Did Bill Bell help Jeanne Cooper stop playing grab ass with her male costars? It’s a fact she grabbed their d*cks, too.

If you watch his State of Mind interview with Maurice Benard at about 53 minutes in, he talks about being homeless –that he got on a train from OH to CA –someone had told him that he could stay with them and when he got to CA that person said no that he could not come there. He said he had nowhere to go, that alot of his friends had left him and he had no one to call. He said he walked and walked and ended up on skid row where he said he lived for 2 weeks. Right there in interview Tyler says this. Here is someone who had been in daytime since about 1997 approxmately and he had no one to call? I just don’t understand that–so sad. Why did he feel he had no one to call? He did go on to say later in interview that he only had his laptop with him and he had enough battery to make one text and he texted a friend and that friend came, helped him, put him up in hotel, etc. and Tyler said this person saved his life. Tyler never reveals who this was in the interview

I applaud Adam Huss & Stephen Martines for standing up and acknowledging Tyler Christopher’s impact on the role of Nikolas as they followed in his footsteps. Takes a standup person to do that, and they both impressed upon me the importance the role of Nikolas is to them, as well as Christopher’s legacy in the role.

Indeed, and the caring comment from Nicholas Chavez – who as Spencer – never shared scenes with Tyler sticks out as well.

GH’s Nancy Lee Grahn Speaks Out for Jailed Former On-Screen Daughter, Haley Pullos

General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) spoke out for and defended allegations levied against her former on-screen daughter, Haley Pullos (ex-Molly) in a series of posts on X.

Pullos is currently serving 90 days in jail for a DUI and taking to a California freeway the wrong way, hitting another car and injuring the driver. The jail time is part of the plea deal which also saw Pullos being given five-years probation and 200 hours of community service, plus the loss of her license for a year and having to pay out $8,000 to the injured driver.

Grahn shared that she had a phone call with Haley the other day and expressed her thoughts on Pullos’ current state of imprisonment, and how Haley’s legal woes were reported in the media.

Photo: JPI

The two Daytime Emmy-winning star expressed, “For those who wished for Haley to be punished with no exceptional treatment, you’ll be relieved to know she’s in maximum security solitary confinement alongside hardened criminals. She’s isolated except for one hour a day where she has phone privileges… today with me.”

As to how Pullos is weathering being behind bars, Nancy added, “I couldn’t have been more impressed with her strength, her resolve, her accountability. NOT ONE COMPLAINT. Not one “Why me” She’s taking it all and it’s ALL beyond horrible… with stoicism & grace. I am SO incredibly proud of her. And I’d like to add that the guards and deputies at Lynwood prison couldn’t have been nicer. Special shout out to Warren.”

Taking on media reports, and how they have painted Pullos through her ordeal, Nancy shared, “I’d also like to add that much of what you read about her was not true. She’s always been respectful, an A student, never got into a lick of trouble ever & made a terrible terrible mistake 1 night.  She voluntarily went straight into only rehab that’d take her with serious injuries for 6 wks, not because it was a ‘country club’ as it was reported. I found it for her. It cost her every penny she had & then into sober living for 2 months. Daily therapy until now.”

Photo: AP

Nancy also stated, “That $400 blouse the rag narrative made it sound like she coveted over injured lives was borrowed from wardrobe and she was completely incoherent so the narrative that she was a spoiled brat mouthing off to police was meant to get clicks. The hit and run??? She hit a car which immediately made her hit another. Horrendous enough without making it seem like she hit a car and then the entitled celeb intentionally, willfully, ran off & then hit another… was intentionally reported falsely to rile you 4 clicks.”

She ended her posts with, “It is hard to discern the truth when the media is for sale. What’s true is Hayley drank excessively and got in a car. She is paying for that while at the same time assisting her victim in getting as much compensation as possible. Thank God all party’s have and will survive.”

GH’s Amanda Setton Previews Brook Lynn & Chase’s Wedding: “It’s a Really Satisfying Payoff for the Fans”

This week, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) are set to tie the knot on all-new episodes of General Hospital.

The duo has seen some rocky times between the two of them, but above all else, will it be love conquers all for the good-guy cop and the tell-it-like-is Quartermaine heiress?

Amanda Setton weighed-in on what GH viewers can expect as the nuptials begin to air over several days. “A quintessential, big, long, detailed, beautiful, elaborate soap opera wedding. It really feels like a throwback to the good old days,” shared Amanda with Soap Opera Digest.

Photo: ABC

Setton added on how Brook Lynn is feeling heading into her wedding day, “She’s getting her fairytale for now. I mean, we’ll see what happens … it is Port Charles after all. But I think it’s a really satisfying payoff for the fans of Chase and Brook Lynn. It’s been a very slow build for four and a half years and they are finally going to get a really loving, beautiful, elaborate, deep vows wedding moment, watching these two characters finally come together.”

Photo: ABC

“The Bensonhurst Brigade” does descend on the wedding in the form of Grandpa Carmine Cerullo, Grandma Gloria Cerullo and nephew, Gio, who will be introduced at the wedding played by GH newcomer Giovanni Mazza.

Will a good time eventually be had by all, even though from this week’s GH promo everything appears to go kablooey? Stay tuned.
