George Russo to Appear on General Hospital as Carmine Cerullo

Photo: IMDb

Coming up, it looks like Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) grandfather, Carmine Cerullo is headed to Port Charles.

According to casting news from the ABC soap opera, George Russo will take on the role. Russo will tape his episode next week on April 15th and will appear on the May 15th episode of the long-running daytime drama series.

If George looks familiar he has been in numerous primetime television shows and motion pictures including: The Offer. Winning Time, Grand Crew and Shameless.

Longtime GH viewers will recall that Lois’ (Rena Sofer) dad, Carmine, was previously showed up in Port Charles on and off from 1994 to 1996 and was played by John Capudice.

Clearly, it seems that Carmine will be a part of Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s wedding.  Will it go off without a hitch? Are you looking forward to it? Stay tuned.

Who else would you like to see attend the nuptials? Gloria Cerullo (Ellen Travolta), any other blasts from the pasts who should be present? Let us know in the comment section.

Gloria HAS to attend! PLEASE!!!

Anthoni Gear Luke Spencer for Tracy

Where’s the father of the bride Ned been? Haven’t seen him in months! Is he not walking his daughter down the aisle? Seems a bit strange.

Who is Gloria???

A simple Google search of “Gloria gh” tells you she is Lois’ mother.

Why do you have to constantly be snarky? She wasn’t on Google when she asked the question, she’s “here.” So if you’re going to take the time to reply, just tell her who “Gloria” is. Reminds me of when I was wondering if a particular story was written by the new writers or the ones recently fired. Your reply (not verbatim) “a simple look at the credits” will tell you.

I was wondering if Ned would ever appear again, especially to marry off his daughter, looks like Brooke’s Nonno may be doing the honors.

Wally posted he’ll be back soon. Yes, he’s been MIA for a bit, but he was on the front burner for much of 2023 with the return of Eddie Maine.

Many, including myself, have been wondering. Usually I look for info on “X” (Twitter) but haven’t been on in a while. He was barely on before he got the Eddie Maine story, and then he just disappeared again. It’s glaring and all wrong. There are barely any real Quartermaines left; and all we get is a scene with Lois and Olivia or Lois and Brook Lynn, or Brook Lynn and Tracy. Gone are the family scenes which could have been somewhat revived now that Tracy’s back; Ned, Tracy, Brook Lynn, Lois, should have all been planning her wedding, Ned should be interacting with Gregory (two fathers who’s children are marrying), Michael & Drew (even though this Drew being a Quartermaine still doesn’t work) with Ned AND Tracy over ELQ. They should bring Dillon back too and bring AJ back again and make it stick this time (Carlivati should never have killed him off.) There’s so much opportunity to bring this family back and it’s constantly ignored and reduced to Olivia scenes. Before Tracy came back she was the “force” in this Quartermaine 2.0 attempt at a revival.

Yes, Gloria should be there. The big question is Jackie. Will they get Kim Delaney back or bring in a recast. Otherwise, it already seems rather odd that “Harry” hasn’t mentioned his mother at all during the planning process. Also, it was never mentioned of her divorce with Gregory was ever finalized.

Exactly she is a huge fan favorite And I would love to see her! It is crazy getting all these new assistants and managers when we would love to see more nurses and drs… felix, dr o? And yes Harry’s Mom should be there…

All very valid points. Makes me wonder how many “writers ago” wrote these parts of the story. I also wondering how us fans recall all this yet it can appear the writers do not.

Perhaps one of us could be hired as storyline historians. Haha.

And the thing is all it takes is a “throw away line” such as “Jackie’s covering the conflict overseas” or Gregory asking Alexis to review his divorce papers.

All is forgiven if Frank pulls a major surprise and gets Demi Moore for 2 episodes. I know, I’m dreaming on that one.

I thought I’d already posted but I guess not, so I’ll say it again. Haven’t seen Ned in weeks so I’m thinking it will be nice for Brooke to have her Nonno give her away. I’m not too crazy about Gloria, so doesn’t matter to me if she comes or not. Tracy makes up for two grandmothers.

Where is Ned?

How about Chase’s mother?? No mention of her at all. Did she die and we didn’t hear about it?

Yes she should be

Luke spencer should show up because he is still alive!

Anthony Geary is nearly 77 and comfortably retired in The Netherlands. Despite the poorly written offscreen departure, Luke will remain dead.

When Lulu eventually wakes up she’ll have a laundry list of people she knew who died during her coma.

“Anthony Geary is nearly 77” oh dear ! Don’t even go there… how old are many of us, ( reading the comments by many of the usual posters ) are near that age ourselves!!??

If he’s 77 he could come back to the US and run for President, and be the youngest candidate on the ballot.

Anthony Geary retired long ago and lives in Amsterdam; he has no plans to ever return. And even if “Luke” retured? If the actor just made an appearance and left again, we’d lose Jane Elliott (Tracy) too. With all the love Tracy has for Luke, she’d obviously leave with him. So let’s be thankful we have the wonderful Jane Elliott back on the show. Long may she stay…

Just curious how you know Anthony Geary’s thoughts or plans for his life and actions.

I doubt Luke will show up for the wedding, but it is interesting how he somehow became “the love of Tracy’s life”, based on the talk she had with BrookLynn the other day.

Luke’s still alive out there somewhere. Believe me, I would be the first one to know if he wasn’t. I mean, let’s face it, his chances of going the other direction are very slim.

I can’t think of any other characters I’d like to see return other than Ned. Oh wait, I lied. It would be fun to see Lois’ best friend, Brenda Barrett return for the wedding. I’m sure it’ll be an even filled with unexpected turns, laughs and drama. I like Brook Lynn and Chase together, and hope they do get married. But I wish the writers would end the train wreck that is Finn and Elizabeth already. Sorry, I will beat that dead horse until it happens. That unofficial poll on Daily Drama (Finn & Liz Hot or Not?) proved overwhelmingly that most fans find this couple are NOT a good match.

Ugh; I used to love “Brenda.” But after reading Vanessa Marcils’ Instagram posts if I never see her on any TV show again it’ll be too soon. I’ll leave it at that, other than to say sometimes it’s better not to “know” the actor who plays a character you like.

Hilarious! I feel the same when I read your posts ! Again no offense…

Finn has been fired so I hear.

The actual rumor from a rarely credible online source is that Easton told GH that he’d finish out his contract but not renew.

Brenda was a great character in her original run, but her returns have been a disaster. First time, she brought Luis Alcazar with her. Second time, it was Teddy Balkan. Third time, there wasn’t any cartoonish villains tagging along, but she kinda became one herself, faking a drunken hookup with teenage Michael, just to piss off Carly.

If she wanted to return long term, they might be able to salvage the character again. Certainly would be an upgrade for Sonny over the recent trainwreck he’s getting himself out of after the last 3 years.

Hey, at this point, anyone would be an upgrade for Sonny. Carly, Nina, Ava, which one is the worst? I was wondering about Blaze’s mother, she and Sonny seem simpatico, if that’s the right word. How many women would want to be with a man who makes his living like he does?

Seeing as how I’m not too crazy about either character, I can not think of any other character for either one of them that is as equally boring.

Breaking News

Patrick Mulcahey OUT as General Hospital Co-Head Writer

After various reports surfaced, it has been confirmed that Patrick Mulcahey is out as the co-head writer of General Hospital. This is after a very short tenure of under five months.

Mulcahey was named to the position back in January of 2024 along with longtime GH writer Elizabeth Korte. They replaced the team of Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, who had been the head scribes of the long-running ABC daytime drama since 2019.

A source informed Soap Opera Digest that stories created by the co-head writing team of  Mulcahey/Korte team will air through mid-summer. However they added “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”

In addition, eagle-eyed soap fans have seen that in recent episodes former co-head writer, Chris Van Etten has been credited, as he is reportedly a breakdown writer with the show.

Soap Opera Network is reporting that Korte has assumed the head writing duties solely on her own at the moment, while Buzz blog initially reported Mulcahey’s exit.

We will have more on the GH writing team evolution in the days ahead.
