DIRTY SOAP is NOT being renewed for second season!

Courtesy/E!

More bad news for daytime soap fans and the genre itself.   The first reality show featuring daytime soap stars, E! Entertainment Television’s, Dirty Soap is not being renewed or picked up for a second season.

Dirty Soap cast mate Jenna Gering, wife of Days of our Lives and Venice star, Galen Gering tweeted her disappointment today stating, “Sot he word is that Dirty Soap is NOT being picked up for another season. Thanks to all of u who watched. You all have been so supportive!!!”

So what do you think was the issue for Dirty Soap not getting a second chance on life on television?  Do you think the cable network did not put enough effort behind the series in terms of marketing? Do you think mainstream audiences just refuse to tune-in to anything connotated with the word, “soap”, even though the product to many was entertaining and interesting?  Let us know your thoughts!

I am not really surprised it wasn’t renewed. In all honesty I found the show in badtaste, rather tacky and pointless. It actually boggles me that soap actors would participate in these soapreality shows when they directly are causing damage to the general soap operas they have careers in. :/

Totally agree with this.

Agreed!!!!

very well put.

I completely agree. Well said. Good riddance to bad rusbbish!

I don’t agree…The soaps are being phased out…. They were smart to do this show because they wouldn’t have any jobs at all otherwise. There are too many food shows isn’t America fat enough? I would rather see the stars on a reality show rather than not at all…

i agree with you!
and i loved the show! im sad to see it wont be on 🙁
was lookn fwd to it being on this fall…. and seeing what happened to the cast…

I think Dirty Soaps was good. It was on E, maybe they can try another station. I seen nothing that was in bad taste, considering the Reality shows they have on. I seen picked on Ice T, no thats bad taste. I say to the producers of DS, keep trying. If the ratings were good, maybe Oprah Chanell. I just want Dirty Soaps back.

I just think it sucks that they didn’t renew DirtySoap. It was an entertaining show which gave us a look into the personal lives of some of our favorite soap stars. I don’t think they really gave it enough of a chance. It was only on 8 times! First my OLTL and now no DirtySoap either! I was looking forward to seeing my Faves Farah Fath and John Paul Lavoisier! 🙁

I thought it was super interesting. A really fun show & I am with you-I thought at least I can see my precious Balsom & Morasco again. Damn.

I am so sad…. I loved it they are taking away all my soaps and replacing it with food… Is it me or is there some new obsession with food shows, America is fat enough.. bring back soaps and bring back dirty soap There is a whole world of people who do love this. They should have given it one more season and market it better. So not fair to the people who truly love soaps and lets face it… They are phasing out the soaps. I want to atleast be able to see them in a reality show……

Agreed! they needed to give it more of a chance i loved this show… sad to see it go 🙁

This is too bad. I really liked this show. Probably didn’t get renewed because so many soaps have been cancelled. If Disney did the right thing and gave back the rights to AMC and OLTL then more soaps would come back to cable networks. Could be that ABC/Disney pressured the producers to pull out to make it look good for the
ABC fiasco

ABC will be sorely out of luck with everyone boycotting ABC daytime and and nighttime now due to pulling AMC/OLTL they are in for a rude awakening!!!! Many won’t be watching the Oscars now!!!!!

That thought crossed my mind as well. Just had a feeling that somehow someway ABC had a hand in it! I did enjoy the show very much. I hope they can give it another shot.

kim kardashian stays and dirty soap goes, that sucks,I didnt watch it I tried to but i thought it was boring ,and I will admit I fell asleep ,and forgot to change the channel ,and I wasnt giving kim and her insane family of famewhores(can I say that?) even 1 second of a rating from me,because that family has to go,they are all bottom feeders, enough said about them ,but that is to bad dirty soap is gone ,its just another kick in the rear to the soap fan.to bad they cant replace it with one life to live ,something soapy.I m sure it will be another dumb reality show.who watches that stuff?

Hey barabara t. Been busy, been missing your replying to your tex. My post were geiting lost just like your’s. Hope you get this. Thanks for your frank thoughts. 1love.

I have been here,Feel bad for the dirty soap fans ,I really tried to watch ,I think it was on at a stupid time, they could have tried to change it before they canceled it ,Im up at 6 so im dead at 9 ,I have to put toothpicks in my eyes for a few of my shows ,I dont have one of those taping things ,so I have to watch the shows when there on,I am missing one life to live so much ,looking forward to seeing what will happen in port charles, getting more interested in days of our lives, hard to learn new names ,use to watch it when maggie was in crutches ,so there is history there ,the other 2 soaps I cant watch because of the time they are on in my area,so 2 oclock is free to miss one life to live, and it is missed, dont think it will be brought back,I hope I am so wrong, all the actors are going all over the place, landview can never be the same unless our same people are there.

Sadly just a reflection of how many view the daytime genre right now maybe one day there will be a revival of some sorts…

TPTB sure made their minds up rather quickly.I thought wewere all going to find out in a couple of weeks. You know,Kelly and Mark had a great concept and talent to back them up.I’m surprised E couldn’t make room for at least 10 more.

Pointless show to begin with. A reality show, showing the dirty laundry of soap stars. Surprised they found any daytime actors willing to take part in the genre that’s killing their jobs in the first place.

yeap that’s what I said..

I was hoping it would get picked up for the next season. I watched to see Kelly Monaco.

It was bad timing for the reality show. 2/3 years ago when we had 8/9 soaps it would have worked, any maybe would have even helped. But in 2012 with 4 soaps left? I can’t say I blame E!. They have real cash cows to tend to.

I thin thy need to leave it on ty, I wil l watch and be a looyal fan, I did not know it was o until day I found it my mistake, Please help it stay.

I have to say that initially I was looking forward to watching Dirty Soap. I loved the cast members that were chosen, and I had hoped that it would be juicy and give some backstage insights into the world of creating soap operas. Boy oh boy, was I disappointed. I watched all but the last episode, and found it tedious to get through. The show’s demise has nothing to do with the lack of interest in our favorite genre- the show was just plain boring. Really boring. I love Galen on Days, but- OMG his personal life may be fine and dandy- but his daily routine of being a husband and a dad is just NOT interesting television viewing. To say nothing of the One Life couple and their GRATING relationship. Farrah was fun to watch on One Life (and previously on Days) but I can’t figure out why John-Paul (?) stays with her if their Dirty Soap appearance is indicitive of their real life relationship. She pretty much yelled at him and treated him life a child for the duration of the enitre show. However, that was nothing compared to her unexplicable, catty “feud” with former BBF Kirsten. Dirty Soap was just plain disappointing, and that’s putting it mildly.

Good enough idea but not great execution. It did not hold my interest. I would enjoy more examination of professiona lives and such, not home life and personal drama.

Agree. I was looking forward to it, but was disappointed by the show itself and that had to do with the cast. They weren’t interesting enough or likeable.

I thought it odd how Jenna reacted to Galen’s job. It’s called acting. He is being paid to kiss Ali. His paycheck is what enables you to stay home and take care of the kids.

I liked Farah before DS, but on the show she came off as a total bitch.

Nadia’s mother was also infuriatingly annoying. It’s a testament to how much Brandon loves Nadia that he stays with her despite having to put up with Fary. If I were Nadia, I’d tell Fary to take a hike until she can get on board with the relationship with Brandon.

Kelly and Kirsten seemed like they were pushed together. It wasn’t organic.

I would also have liked to have seen more footage of them on-the-job, working on their soaps and get a little backstage peek. I thought that was going to be included, but from the eps I saw, it wasn’t. Seeing Kelly sitting in her dressing room didn’t really cut it.

Plus, of the eight cast members, only three are currently working on soaps. Two contract and one recurring.

I’m so glad Dirty Soap was canceled. The “reality” show was fake, phony, staged, and embarrassing for all of the actors in the show. All of the actors came off in a bad light as did the soap genre. Plus the show was a boring wasted of space. I’m glad it was axed.

It sucked! I tryed to watch it a few times but it was awful! But most reality shows stink! The networks like them because they’re cheaper. Farah was a real bitch on it!

it’s a shame because i love all the stars but the show sucked………

It sucks that they are not having a 2nd season. I liked watching this reality show on the soap stars, because you got to know who they were outside of their character.

I am very upset that it got cancelled! I love the show, and was excited to see the new adventures of all my favorite soap stars! It was great to get a look into their real lives, and who they are as people. Not just their characters on the soap! Now all I have left is GH. Not sure why all the other reality shows make it (and some of those are really stupid) and Dirty Soap didn’t! This sucks! Not happy right now.

It is to bad Dirty Soap was cancelled, it was great fun and I was looking forward to it for a second season. I don’t think it was advertised enough.

I looked foward every week looking into the lives of my fav soap stars. Very disappointed it will not be renewed for a second season.

I am upset that DS will not be back and that Kelly, who I watch every day never mentioned anything. I have been a soap opera fan for at least 50 years and feel my TV viewing is not my right any more. Shows can so easily be yanked off the air leaving me grieving.

I liked the show

I loved the show! I am sorely disappointed it will not be returning for a second season. I am a big Days fan!

I’m sad I loved it 🙁

I am so upset that Dirty Soap is not coming back ON. I purposely searched nonlinear to find out if I missed the second season. I hope someone changes thee mind and bring it back on. I grew up with soap operas so to see their personal life and struggles is a real soap opera.

I want dirty soap back!!!!!!!!!

why cancel dirty soap…it was the best reality show on tv…who makes this awfull decisions????

I definitely think it wasn’t marketed enough. I loved the show and was looking forward to a second season.

This news stinks! I loved this idea and watched and waited for more! Disappionting!

I really enjoyed this show, and so did my family! So sad that it will not be back for a second season!!:-(

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
