Desperate Housewives Series Finale Scores 11 Million Plus Viewers! What Was Your Favorite Moment?

Last night’s series finale of ABC’s Desperate Housewives was the highest rated program on Sunday night!

The final installments of the life of the ladies of Wisteria Lane brought in 11.1 million viewers!  That’s less than half the number the show averaged in its early glory days, but 15%-20% more than it had been averaging this season.  The finale topped Survivor: One World as the most watched program yesterday.

On a night filled with sentiment, tears and happy endings for Bree (Marcia Cross), Gaby (Eva Longoria), Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Lynette (Felicity Huffman), there was also a brilliant performance by Kathryn Joosten as Mrs McClusky who dies at the end, and a comedic turn for Vanessa Williams who as Renee Perry tries to get to her wedding with an intact dress!

While Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry wrapped up the stories for all of his housewives, (Did you notice his cameo, when he was one of Susan’s movers?)  he did drop one last secret.   When Susan said farewell to Wisteria Lane,  her house was bought by a young woman named Jennifer who seemed to be keeping a dark secret inside a box she hid away.  Could there be a sequel somewhere down the line?  Were seed planted for new ladies of Wisteria Lane? Or, was it just a nod to the humble beginnings of the series eight years ago?

So now as the dust has settled and you have had time to digest, what was your favorite moment from the finale?  We had a few that touched us.  Let us know! And, will you miss life on Wisteria Lane?

Like most viewers (I’m certain) I desperately hoped for Lynette and Tom’s reuniting. The finale was a bitter sweet ending. Many women lived vicariously through their favorite wife/wives and are now beginning to experience a deep sense of loss. I will greatly miss my favorite ladies!! Farewell!

While DH was not pure soap in the vein of Dallas or Knots Landing, it provided me with so much enjoyment and laughter over the years. I will miss each and every one of the Housewives and will look forward to seeing where they pop up next.

You can watch Vanessa Williams on the new ABC supernatural drama 666 Park Ave.

Here you are David, I like your Idea about giving Ron and frank 2 hours of general hospital and one life to live, that would solve my problem of boycotting abc/disney, They have that extra hour to fill since they cancelled that horrible show the revolution, They could admit they made a very big mistake and that would bring a lot of the fans back (like me) that left because of there stupidity. I really like your Idea. I would watch 666 park because I like Vanessa williams and I love supernatural dramas.

My most touching part was the “fast forward” into the future of Tom and Lynnette in their NY penthouse; and Gabi and Carlos still hanging in there in Cali. Mostly, I am relieved that Tom and Lynnette got back together. I am so sad to say goodbye. This show has been a part of my life and I will miss each character as if he/she were real! Goodbye Wisteria Lane!

This whole last season was hard for me because I watched it for 7 seasons then quit because my soaps were canceled all I can say is now I won’t feel guilty for not tuning in on sunday nights, When dh was good, It was good, I did not care for it when marc slap cherry killed eddie brickle I liked her and bree.

Hubby and I watched the entire 8 seasons and never missed a show. So cleverly written and a cliff-hanger from week to week.

Actress who played Karen McCloskey has had lung cancer twice in her life (most recently a couple years ago, but is in remission). Did you catch her PSA for the American Lung Association after the credits? And Orson Bean as her husband was such great casting. He was the father-in-law of recently deceased conservative editor Andrew Breitbart.

Once in awhile I catch sitcom re-runs of shows like Frasier & King of Queens. Lynette had a 4 or 5 episode run as one of Frasier’s girlfriends, while Bree was part of a couple who went on a Caribbean cruise with the main characters on KOQ.

I’m sure the series will always be in re-run heaven!

To answer the question, I would say my favorite part of the finale was Tom & Lynette reuniting (after a few hiccups!). Also, I loved Scott Bakula as Bree’s lawyer, finding that elusive vintage record player & Johnny Mathis “Wonderful, Wonderful” 45. After having the record played several times, Karen passed away with her beloved Roy at her side. That had me in tears! At one point, Vanessa Williams’ Renee character snapped at her Aussie boyfriend & his muttered comment to her had me hoping he would dump her. I never liked the Renee character AT ALL, although Williams has turned into quite an actress.

The best ending for any show I have watched. I am going to miss DH and all the other inhabitants of Wisteria Lane. Hope there is a sequel.

I will really miss DH. Great show, loved the finale. I won’t miss ABC/D. GH is now THE ONLY show my household watches on ABC or any Disney owned entity. Well, I still watch SOAPNet, but that will be gone soon too :'(

So many moments gave me a lump in my throat, especially Tom and Lynette’s reunion, but the tears started flowing during the montage to Johnny Mathis’ “Wonderful, Wonderful”…a death, a birth, a couple reuniting, a family dancing, newly weds, and new lovers. The jump forward was bitter sweet, as was seeing all those who had passed on. I’ll really miss this show.

The very end was great with all the dead characters watching Susan drive off….

I was not thrilled with any of it. It felt rushed just to tie up so many stories, Karen’s portion was terrific and feeling, the rest just rushed to end the show. Why waste film on Renee’s wedding, totally crude, should of focused on the original 4 only. I could of written the entire show myself it was so obvious, very disappointing after watching his for years!

Mrs mclusky (Kathryn joosten ) died . She was that sweet old lady on desperate housewives.

I loved the entire series. I admit at times it was a bit silly, but there were more better episodes than not.
Eva Longoria was the funniest word and action wise.
Bree was the fanatic housekeeper and I know people like that, including myself.
Susan was the dizzy lady, but kind and thoughtful. She always put her foot in her mouth.
Lynette was the most realistic when it came to children, their school and PTA meetings and total involvement with them. It was realistic.

I am sorry that they did not have a REAL gay story line with Andrew and the doctor he hooked up with. Remember Bree bought them as house as a present. Even the other couple, Lee and forgot his name (the lawyer) had no real story line. They were just like the token gay couple. A gay spin would have been nice with Andrew, his partner, Lee and his partner and maybe Justin with his boyfriend. I do not mean to say that it had to turn into a gay soap opera, but just have more credible story lines for these men.

The ending was fabulous. Briliant. It would be nice to see a sequel: Desperate Housewives, THE NEXT GENERATION. Try and get Andrew, Danielle and her baby, Juanita and her sister, Julie and her baby, MJ, Porter, Parker, Preston, Penny and the last twin. The original actors and actresses would be nice but maybe it would have to be some years later. See who would be willing to come back, either weekly or as guest appearances. Some could be dead and mentioned as such in the show. I think it would work. Of course there would be other people and story lines also.

Bring it more up to speed years later. Good opening would be the woman who bought Susan’s house and the box she carried and hid before the moving people started to unload the truck. She finds something in the house which is a deep dark secret regarding Susan, Mike and/or Julie. One coupler may be divorced and the other comes back to Wysteria lane. Get the hospital in Fairview more involved and let us meet people from there. I wish I was a writer because I think I am on to something here.

The sequel please………….

I really hope they make a sequel, call it wisteria lane- keep it going!!! I own all 8 seasons on DVD and can’t get enough.

Serena Scott Thomas to Days of our Lives, But What Role Will She Play?

Look who’s coming to Salem next? In a tease on their official Instagram account, Days of our Lives has revealed that Serena Scott Thomas has been on set and will debut in an upcoming role, leaving many fans guessing just who might she play.

The English actress and documentary producer has previously starred in Diana, Her Story as Diane Prince of Wales, Dr. Molly Warmflash in the James Bond  film The World Is Not Enough, and played the villainess ‘Watcher” in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and Bruce Willis’ wife in the film, Hostages among others.

Serena is the younger sister of Kristen Scott Thomas, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in The English Patient. Several DAYS fans are already weighing in that Serena will play Konstantine’s (John Kaeplos) wife.

However, NannyKat 63 may have it all figured out the best, when she posted, that not only will “Serena play Kostantine’s wife,” but the character “had an affair with Victor Kiriakis and got pregnant.” Thus, making Xander (Paul Telfer) her son. She went on to theorize, “Perhaps, And John and Steve will find her in the nick of time… and she’ll enter in time to stop the wedding of Maggie to him. Xander will find out his true identity then. The baby was given to Victor’s brother to be raised in Scotland.”

Sounds plausible to us! Another guess came from donnamoore_23 who said, “Ya’ll think he could be Bobberette ‘s mom or sister or .. SOMETHING to do with his story .. someone who can back up what trauma he went through to be so sick? 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I think y’all are right could be Katerina.”

Two DAYS stars, Tamara Braun (Ava) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) also shared comments on Serena Scott Thomas’ upcoming appearance on DAYS. Godfrey simply said, “YES!!!! while Braun add her guess, expressing, “Ava’s mum. Oh wait, her mom was killed by her dad. Or was she? 🤔”

So, what do you think? What role will Serena Scott Thomas play on Days of our Lives? Share your theories in the comment section below.
