GH's Jane Elliot & Y&R's Christian LeBlanc Deliver Power Performances On Yesterday's Episodes!

Whoever tells you that soap opera actors aren’t some of the best in the business, you need to look no further than Monday’s performances by two veterans who once again showed us why they are always, always at the top of their game!

On General Hospital, it was Jane Elliot, who in moments with her favorite scene partner, Anthony Geary (Luke) showed us the emotional center of tough-as- nails Tracy Quartermaine, when she revealed to Luke in a confrontation on their on-again off-again relationship: “I want more than that.  I want a soul mate! What you and Laura had … God knows how .. I never had that.  Clearly, you find that surprising by my demeanor, but yes.  I want… I dream… what every single woman dreams of …  true love.  And guess what? I am not going to give up on that dream, until my last dying breath. So don’t you dare come in here and feed me scraps. I am sick to death of making a meal out of crumbs!”

Elliot played each word and each beat to the fullest.  Kudos to the writing team for this scene and giving Elliot another opportunity to display why she deserves a Daytime Emmy, even though she does not choose to participate in the proceedings.

Over at The Young and the Restless, Christian LeBlanc, broke our hearts in key scenes with his on-screen partner, Tracey E. Bregman as Lauren tries to make the moves on Michael and show him affection, love, and desire after she has all but destroyed their marriage by sleeping with Carmine (Marco Dapper)!  LeBlanc playing disgust, pain, sadness, humiliation all in those moments was amazing to watch.  And how could you not feel for Michael Baldwin, who feel so betrayed by the woman he loves who chose to run in to the arms of much younger man?   We can’t wait to see what happen next, just for the sure joy to watch LeBlanc have an opportunity to show his acting chops in full force!

So, what did you think of the Power Performances that started off this week’s soap viewing of Jane Elliot and Christian LeBlanc? Let us know your opinion!

Jane Elliot brings in it in every scene, every day. She’s awesome. It’s a shame that she made the decision not to submit her name for Emmy consideration. If she did, she would be a shoe-in winner.

Although, maybe not with some of the mind boggling and ridiculous snubs the Emmy voters made this year.

Jane is the best actress on Daytime when I saw that yesterday it was like wow! go Tracey, I am not sure why Jane does not participate. Does she think competion is silly? Does she not like accolades?? Whatever it is she is a winner to me.

I am not a regular Y/R watcher but did see that scene yesterday it was very good. I felt bad for the character, with his cheating wife he adores.

Ditto on yesterdays performances by Jane and LeBlanc. I was really touched by both, but especially “Tracy’s ” confession and vulnerability.

Jane Elliot is amazing in every scene, but I got chills when I watched this scene.

CLB was phenomenal yesterday!

Amen!!!! I was just discussing this with a couple of friends of mine in private groups, and we all reached exactly the same consensus! If they don’t submit those episodes as their Emmy reels for 2013, they’re crazy!

Jane Elliot was PERFECTION. Pure and simple.

I agree that Jane Ellliot–and the writer who wrote the lines–deserves an Emmy. Too bad the lines weren’t written for and delivered by Genie Francis (Laura). Speaking of deserving (and using the words of the writer), Genie Francis has been given crumbs since she returned to GH. What was the reason TPTB brought her back–if not to act with her partner Tony Geary? Poor Genie–they dress her badly and put her with–who?–Scotty.!? What a violation of character. Laura would never marry Scotty again–nor would Luke not fight for Laura who defines his humanity. And what about the loyal viewers of the Luke and Laura story (spanning 30+ years!)? What do we get? Crumbs! We are fed crumbs. Why are we still talking about GH if not for the Luke and Laura story? These two actors are the Tracy and Hepburn, the Bogie and Bacall, the Gable and Lombard of daytime tv. And TPTB bring Genie Francis back at long last–for what?–to violate her character in the worst way–and deny her scenes with Tony Geary. If even the hard-bitten Tracy Quartermaine character can recognize that Luke and Laura are soulmates why can’t TPTB? I have watched Genie’s and Tony’s interviews with the Archives of American Television–individual and together –where they talked about how much they care for the characters they created. They speak of Luke and Laura as two characters against the world, surviving against all odds, the Romeo and Juliet and how we wish the story had ended. Then we are fed these stories that violate all that is the romantic love story of daytime–maybe all of tv. Why? I know a drama needs conflict–but inherent in the story of Luke and Laura is enough conflict to last a lifetime. But the writers and TPTB continue to disregard all things Luke and Laura. When I saw the scene where L and L said they “didn’t fit” and the wedding of Laura and Scotty yesterday, I felt like someone had kicked me in the gut or slapped my face. Why would TPTB deny these two powerhouses scenes and dialogue and story? WOULD WE BE WATCHING GH TODAY IF NOT FOR THE LUKE AND LAURA STORY? I rest my case.

Laura looks and acts like shes at a funeral and Luke looks and acts like he’d rather be someplace else like a bar…the magic is gone!

There is no longer any chemistry between Geary and Francis. They are history. They are writing Laura as a luke-less Laura for the first time in over 30 years. There is much more admiration and chemisry between Kin and Genie. Laura is more grounded and not looking for adventure at this point in her life. Scotty was the one that was originally cheated on. His mishaps are probably more forgivable than Luke’s (Jake’s hit and run accident, which happens to be Laura’s grandchild) Laura has grown and matured. Scotty is being insecure because he is trying to believe that Laura genuinely loves him. I beleive she now does. Ron always writes stories with twists. I believe that Scotty was given a bad wrap with the whole Luke and Laura thing. I think he’s finally getting some retribution. I believe he will turn out to be a winner this time. Laura will find love with him but she will be written as an independent woman.

Totally agree with you Tom. As much as I love Luke and Laura, let’s be real people grow apart. GH has finally come to terms with the fact that they can’t replicate Luke and Laura. Except the past and move on. It certainly mirrors real life.

remember it was her stepgrandchild not blood related. Not sure if she ever said anything about this.

There were rumors awhile back (last year?) before Genie was back but when it was being discussed that the two actors needed to resolve the bad blood between them before she came back to the show. And, it was evident through all the 50th anniversary hooplah with GMA, Katie, 20/20. etc., that the onetime closeness between TG and GF was totally gone. I think she resented the extent to which TG got totally carried away with himself and decided that his ego was more important than the story, the production or the show itself. And Luke as a person and character has gone downhill for the last ten years.

Great post Nancy!!! I agree with most… it is hard to see Laura with Scotty. It’s hard to see her dressed so poorly. It’s hard to not see Luke and Laura together… I’ve learned to accept that with age and circumstance it is possible they aren’t the super couple we loved… but am still hoping something might happen to spark it again.

Jane really delivered on some great writing and she does deserve great story and writing. Ron’s team gets Tracy… agree… would love to see them get Laura!

I completely agree with you about Jane Elliot’s performance in scenes with Tony Geary on yesterday’s GH. She — and Geary — were nothing short of amazing! Those scenes alone should earn both of them Emmy nominations.

Both actors were at the top of their game yesterday!! BRAVO

I am thrilled to see this acknowledged. I said yesterday, to my viewing partner after Elliot’s scenes.,”Wow!” It was simply stunning and touching and real. That woman is something else.

Yes, she is!

Agreed Jane Elliot had me in years. Beautiful and powerful performance. Love her!

Jane Elliot knocked it out of the park with those scenes yesterday.
I was on the edge of my seat listening to Traci ‘giving it’ to Luke.
All I could say was “You go girl”.
Wow !! She deserves an Emmy.

Ms Elliot is a great actress, a seasoned and confident actress..
I was thrilled to watch her work once again..
Thanks RC for giving Jean the opportunity to grace us with her powerful acting talents..!

If I were Michael I would leave Lauren because of her awful hair extensions 1980’s hair style..
she is a beautiful lady and ruins her beauty with that gawd awful hair..
she needs a 21st century make over, badly.. it would take years away, for sure.

Jane Elliott was pure magic!

It was a refreshing change of pace from all that relish garbage they have been giving her to play. Give her a scene with some meat to it and she will remind you every time why she is one of daytime acting icons. And CLB– wow, wow, wow— I thought the whole affair story line was lame at the start, but I have to admit it has produced some really excellent drama and reminded us why CLB is one hellva of an actor. Lot of people complain daytime is boring and tedious, but sometimes if you stick with it you are rewarded with gems like those two scenes— it is scenes like those that make you fall in love with daytime all over again.

Jane always delivers power performances… well except maybe the Chew disaster! Give her great writing and story… and she makes it sing! She is truly one of the best actresses of the genre! Love her whenever she is on… but with Tony she is phenomenal!!! Would love to see her win for this and others! She knows how to bring every emotion out of antone who is lucky enough to watch her… how lovely for those who get to act with her!!! We know she will not go after th Emmy… someone there should for her!!! Ron’s team is getting Tracy… just wish they were getting Genie/Laura more. I agree with the post in a lot of respects but with her wardrobe… please! Get clothes that fit her better!

Christian was also superb on yesterday’s show!!! He deserves another Emmy… so phenomenal!!!

I watched Jane again and should have said earlier… Bravo!!! Bravo!!! Power doesn’t even begin to describe that performance!!! Words fail me… Bravo Jane!!! That episode has to be submitted for her next year!!!

Jane Elliot is by far the best actress on GH, and I am going to go out on a limb here and declare her the best actress not only on daytime, but on TV period!

The whole GH episode rocked from the writing, acting, production, costumes. That episode should win them major awards next year. It had it all….but Kate Simon Hall’s script (she’s the daughter of fab script writer, Courtney Simon and actor Peter Simon (Ed Bauer) rivaled Patrick Mulcahey’s best. Kudos to all. And while I don’t like the three OLTL actor returns, I say so what…GH is must see TV every day. That’s an amazing feat. Cartini rocks.

Bad blood or no (re Tony Geary and Genie Francis), the play’s the thing, and great actors can rise above any personal dispute–after all, it’s ACTING.

Bad blood or no (re Tony Geary and Genie Francis), the play’s the thing, and great actors can rise above any personal dispute–after all, it’s ACTING.

Can, yes. I agree with that. But we’re talking about Tony Geary here, who has said to the press that he wants Luke to be with Tracy, while Jane E has been out on the talk circuit saying FV promised her that Luke and Tracy would be together. Obviously those fabulous scenes Jane acted were the first step in that reconcilation. Hard to fathom when their relationship has NO romantic chemistry (more like siblings, regardless of their sexual pet names) but Jane can certainly bring the drama! She was excellent. As good as it gets.

Yes, Elizabeth, I also have heard Tony Geary and Jane Elliott blatantly make those pronouncements re FV promising that Luke and Jane would be together soon. And I so agree with you re no chemistry, like siblings (spoiled ones, at that). Guess the actors and TPTB (read FV) are just too close to the situation to know that we (the audience) can observe sibling squabbles without tuning in to GH. We like our drama to take a higher aim–and to be much more pleasurable and satisfying. I guess TG, JE, and FV have left Genie Francis out of the equation. Sad and an audience cheat, as I have said earlier. But, since the audience is often derided (by some actors, unfortunately–and by some PTB) guess we know where we the loyal audience/viewers/supporters stand.

Jane Elliot always blows me away by drawing me in, but this week she was right there in the room with me and jerking the tears out of my eyes. I knew there was a reason why I loved her as Carrie on The Guiding Light! And yes, Tracy does deserve a soulmate!

The last few weeks I’ve found Jane Elliot aka Tracy Quartermaine to be a bit shrill; she’s been bordering on Dorian Lord/Erica Kane territory with the overacting and chewing of the scenery.
Of course an actor can only be as good as their material.

HOWEVER, Jane Elliot’s performance on Monday’s episode, and the work of the writers who gave her those lines, redeemed all the bad Pickle Lila stuff I’ve been suffering through the last few months. If Ms. Elliot doesn’t want to play the Emmy submission/nomination game, then ABC and GH should bite the bullet and pay to campaign for her.

Regarding comments people have been making about Luke & Laura: I grew up watching them in the 80’s and was THRILLED when Genie Francis returned to the show in March. And I admit I teared up when the two had their “farewell kiss” a few weeks back. However, there really is no chemistry between Ms. Francis and Tony Geary anymore.

I don’t think that’s something you can fault the writers for. If its some personal animosity between the actors, I don’t know. But lets face it, people fall in and out, of love all the time! Just because its a soap doesn’t mean it needs not reflect how relationships grow, and wither, in real life.

I didn’t start watching the show until Luke & Laura were already on the run from Frank Smith’s men, but after watching the old episodes on SoapNET’S 50th anniversary retrospective, I can see how one might think Scotty Baldwin was the wronged party in the whole thing, and his jerky behavior over the last four decades (let’s not forget him helping Bill Eckert’s ex-wife get custody of Sly when he was supposed to be Bill’s attorney) may be the result of his life spiraling out of control BECAUSE his wife was raped/seduced by Luke Spencer.

I hope Mr. Fairman actually posts this because I’m tired of taking the time to write all this stuff only to have him not include it, for whatever reason.

Jane Elliott is always flawless in whatever scene she’s in, whether it’s comical, dramatic, or somewhere in between. But those scenes between her and Tony Geary were truely incredible. I was blown away by both of them, especially Jane. I also have to give a shout out to the GH writing team, because I thought that was some exceptional dialogue, I was very impressed.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Bryne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Bryne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

So, what do you think about Lane Davies returning to GH to play an attorney in Alexis’ orbit? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nikolas Gets an Earful from Ava About Sonny and His Meds; Nina and Drew Can’t Seem to Resist Each Other

Ava (Maura West) seems to feel she has a confidante in a jailed Nikolas (Adam Huss) on the Monday, April 29th episode of General Hospital. In story, Ava heads to Pentonville to visit her ex-husband before he is set to get transferred out of state.

When discussing her living relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard), which Nikolas already knew about, Ava says she is happy about how her relationship with Sonny has been evolving, Nikolas ask if she’s in love with Sonny. Ava denies it, but goes on to say how great it is for her daughter, Avery to be living with both her parents, who are on the same side and not at odds.

Nikolas believes that Ava loves being in Sonny’s inner sanctum and the power that comes with it. Ava fires back that she spent years looking in from the outside and that everyone despised her. When Nikolas brings up Nina (Cynthia Watros), she says Nina never really could understand the true type of man that Sonny is.

Then, Ava launches in on Carly (Laura Wright), and how she would love to stick it to her, for all the times she blocked Ava from seeing her child and Carly’s attitude towards her. Then, Ava admits to Nikolas that she knows that Sonny has a watered-down version of his bipolar medication, which is making him more vulnerable and she’s capitalizing on it for her own gain. She says she needs to figure out who is responsible, but Nikolas voices concern for Ava’s plan and that if Sonny ever found out she knew about it and did nothing, he would be on the warpath against her. Ava promises she knows what she’s doing. When she says goodbye to Nikolas, he looks upset and sad, as he still seemingly cares for Ava.

Meanwhile in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) office, Nina walks in complaining about Carly giving her a hard time about maintenance in her office. Nina wants payback for Jason (Steve Burton) buying Carly the hotel, but Drew is not up for playing games with her.  She says they both want revenge on Jason and Carly, which Drew denies. Next thing you know, Nina grabs Drew and kisses him. Although, it seems he might walk out the door and away from her, he locks it, and the two proceed to have round 2 of their hate-sex.

Elsewhere, Anna tells Jason about her shooting Charlotte and her concern about Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) involvement with Pikeman. Meanwhile, Valentin visits Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) in Pentonville, where threats are laid out to make Sonny look like the guilty party in eliminating Jason, while Anna is the line of fire, if she doesn’t keep her nose out of Pikeman business, which worries Valentin, who doesn’t want Anna getting hurt in any of this.

So, what do you think about Ava’s plans? Did you like seeing Nikolas back on the canvas? Are you all for a Drew/Nina continued affair? Will Anna get caught in the crossfire only to be saved by Valentin? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.

Haley Pullos Receives 90-Day Jail Sentence Following DUI Charge And Wrong-Way Car Crash

Former General Hospital actress, Haley Pullos (ex-Molly Lansing-Davis) is going to be doing time in jail, exactly one-year after her arrest from a hit and run wrong-way car collision.

The crash resulted in bodily harm and damages to the other driver, and now Pullos who pleaded “no contest” to the charges and will serve 90 days in jail. She was taken in custody on Monday, April 29th, after the ruling.

According to Haley’s attorney, Mark Daniel Melnick, the 25-year-old actress struck a plea deal and after her three months in jail will be sentenced on July 29th. As part of that sentencing, she must serve five years probation, 200 hours of community service and pay $8,260 in restitution to Courteney Wilder, the other driver in the crash and her driver’s license is revoked for a year.

According to TMZ, the plea deal for Pullos has the “no contest” to one DUI, while the judge dropped the felony DUI causing bodily injury and misdemeanor hit and run charges.

Melnick said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Haley is very grateful to the court for a minimum sentence and for recognizing her remorse and the strides she has made in her sobriety.”

Pullos had played the daughter of Alexis Davis (played by Nancy Lee Grahn) on the ABC soap opera since 2009, but after her car crash and DUI she was replaced by three different actresses until the show finally settled on the current Molly, Kristen Vaganos.

Back in April 29 of 2023, and at the scene of the crash, the police found edibles and mini-bottles of tequila in Pullos’ vehicle and that she was intoxicated. As it turned out, this was to be the second hit and run in the evening for Pullos who had an earlier collision with another car.

The courts decision follows a year-long legal battle with Haley’s pleas changing throughout it, ranging from “not guilty” to “no contest”. She sought treatment for her drinking at a rehab following the crash.

Nancy Lee Grahn, who portrayed Pullos’ on-screen mom took to X on Monday night, April 29th and shared on the sentence and the specific jail, Haley will be serving time: “As Haley’s TV mom I can tell some truths about her as I’ve loved her since she was little girl. She made a HUGE mistake, knows it, owns it & has spent the last yr doing EVERYTHING imaginable to take responsibility 4 it. It’s not that I oppose jail. It’s that I oppose this jail.” The jail in question by Grahn is the L.A. county jail.

So, what do you think about Haley Pullos serving a 90-days jail sentence, and the other rulings that will be part of her sentencing? Comment below.
