And yet another hunk joins the Salem line-up … and just in time for Christmas!   Former As the World Turns star, Mark Collier has joined NBC’s Days of our Lives in the role of Liam!  Collier will first appear on-screen by the end of December.

On-Air On-Soaps confirmed Collier’s arrival to the long running soap opera with a representative from DAYS.

And in an odd twist-of-fate,both former Oakdale Mike Kasnoff’s will be working together on the NBC soap!  Shawn Christian (Daniel ) originated the role of Mike on As the World Turns, and Collier was the recast when the show decided to bring Mike back to the canvas.

Will Daniel and Liam know each other from their past? What brings Liam to Salem? Who do you think he will be paired with romantically in story?  Weigh-in!

Liam…maybe a Jonas…and paired with Jen after her break up with Danial? Or maybe paired with Nicole just as Eric realizes he has feelings for her?

He shouldve played Frankie Brady who is still in love with Jennifer

I think it’s about time for Hope to have another love interest. Maybe finally confide what is really going on with Bo?

I’m hoping the same. It’s time for Hope to have someone again and some excitement in her life again. Bo’s not coming back. Which I’m glad he’s not. He was boring.

Yum! Kinda makes me wish I watched “Days of Our Lives” but I have more sense than that. 🙂

You don’t know what you are missing! DAYS is good right now. There is a reason why it won Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmys! DAYS and GH are great right now!

You are right Phil. I have trouble deciding which to watch first (I record them)
Nicole sure deserves some happiness & a great new man!

Gloria, I tape them both too. My wife and I watch GH together, but DAYS I watch on my own so which one I watch first depends on if she is around or not. I would probably choose DAYS first otherwise. DAYS does family better than any show on daytime these days. I would like to see Nicole get her own storyline, but one that does not revolve around a man!

I hear you Joshua but this might be all the incentive I need to start watching Days again.

LOL he is man candy. I actually watched the show from 1977 to 1987 (when it was really GOOD!) and before it became white trashy and the soap opera version of “The Jerry Springer Show.” Gregg Marx was always shirtless on the show in the early ’80’s. Now that was brilliant!

My guess is Liam may be a match for Jennifer. MARKING the end of Daniffer.

I’m guessing he has something to do with Jordan. But that’s just my guess…..

For a moment, I thought he might be a “Bo” recast…interesting to see whom he’ll be paired with down the line.

I wonder if he is somehow connected to Rafe’s physical therapist’s past?

Good for Mark. Nice to see him back.

Glad Mark is with DOOL. Bold and Beautiful missed the opportunity to hire him as Ridge.

ooh, he would have been good.

lol. He is about 20 years too young to play Ridge.

At least, ha!

I’m excited about this, especially if Liam gets involved with Hope. It’s about time DOOL featured Hope/Kristian Alfonso more than they have. I liked Mark Collier on ATWT and think he’ll be a great addition to DOOL.

Little old to be Chad and young to be Bo… I wonder if he will have any connection to a major family… Would be nice if he were a Horton… Maybe he is Jordan’s ex! He will be paired with Jordan or maybe Hope or Teresa!

I always loved how Mike Kasnoff got younger and younger with each subsequent recast. Lol. He started out 25 and 15 years later he was 26. Lol. But I like Collier. He has an easy going affable charm. Maybe Bo Brady has gone through a similar de-aging and he will play Bo!

How old is Bo supposed to be? Mark Collier is 43, so even if Bo is supposed to be late 40s, that could still work.

Well..I know applying age logic to soaps is an absurd proposition…lol…however…Bo’s son Shawn graduated high school in 2002. That makes him now pushing 30. So Bo has to be over 50 as it was established that Bo was in the merchant marines in the late 70’s and early 80’s. So…could Collier play Bo…yes. He just looks younger and has a baby face and he could easily play a character in his 30’s as most actors do play younger…not older. But…this is a show where Kevin Dobson and John Ingle played the same role of Mickey Horton. They are 15 years apart.

I think now he should have been cast as Frankie Brady…Jens old boyfriend…they rekindle their old romance just as J.J. begins to like Danial for helping him out and tries to get him back with his mom…

Now I am jealous. Lol. What an awesome idea!! It boggles my mind that fans can come up with such awesome ideas and the people who are supposedly the talented professionals running these shows can’t!

I love it! Hopefully they’ll be brothers

‘this’ – “lovefest” w/daniel knows no bounds apparently…

go figure… this is my greatest fear… that they may very well end up being brothers.

just what we need….. “MORE” daniel please! please? please!?!?

—————

DAYS is so good… but, why does it have to be thru the eyes of UNheralded Daniel

So true I feel like him & Abby are the worst actors he over acts & Abby has no emotion she’s just a pretty face. Kristen beyond over acts but it’s entertaining when she does it. Sami & her random loud outburst then seconds later looking like somebody threw egg on her face is so annoying. Nicole is the only all around character who can do it all & James Scott as Ej.

I think he will be a love interest for Hope.

This is what I was thinking also

Very good addition to the cast

I think Liam will turn out to be Daniel’s brother, another egg child of Maggie’s!

He could be the new Jack! Radical reconstructive surgery without amnesia. Jack posing as someone new!!!

Bo with radical reconstructive surgery due to his undercover work to bring Stefano down!!!

This is great news and I wish he would be the new ‘Bo” because he make a great Bo Brady and Hope needs some badly because she’s has to be “itchin’ for some lovin”!

Don’t give up hope– he could be the new Bo. Remember when DH came on the show, he was just this mystery man, who turned out to be Roman, who turned out to an Aliman, who turn out to be Stefano’s half brother. On this show, anyone can turn into anyone— Liam could be a brainwashed Bo—-either by Stefano’s hand or even the ISA. stranger things have happened on this show. If it looks like a duck and an acts like a duck, on DAYS it is probably a giraffe LOL.

Your comment was spot on!!! I laughed so hard, I had to wait to reply!!! Thank you!!!

Great hire. I wonder if this is to make up for numerous cast members leaving.

Excellent! Love Mark, he’s an excellent actor. Now bring back Sarah Joy Brown as Madison James!

Mark was super sexy on ATWT. I was kind of hoping he’d be a returned Mike Horton. But, DOOL is lucky to have him. I hope they develop his character well and don’t waste his talents.

No way!!! Too many Mikes already. It would be cool to have Michael T. Weise back in that role! Sorry for any and all spelling errors.

I totally agree. Really liked him as Dr. Mike Horton.

can you imagine… the fan roar of approval…

if, they did bring back Mike Horton….man… if they’d just bring back Laura and Bill Horton…. played by uber sexy John Martin

i’d lose it

I could see Mark Collier w/Hope… he has that Bo resemblence and appeal

Would rather see Robert Kelker Kelly come back and play Bo again.

He is a new person on the show people!!

Days is so good right now I am loving it!

You’ve got that right!!!

he could daniel jonas step brother

I think either Abigail or Nicole. Leaning more towards Nicole.

Jennifer’s new love interest. Or perhaps Abigail’s or both. Oh La la

I think Liam will be paired with Hope Brady!

I agree he would be a great match for Hope..

No connection with Daniel, for the love of all that’s unholy.

The time travelling egg mutant eats up enough airtime as it is.

Not sure how I would feel about a Bo recast. Wasn’t crazy about the last one and that was what… 20 years ago?

It would be great if Mark were to play Peter Blake DiMera!

Time for Hope to have a new guy or maybe he could be Bo, twin brother that no one knew abt

He would be great with Hope

BO replacement

It would be great if he was Bo Brady

He could be one of Will’s college proffessors. I’m a bad speller whom did not attend college. LOL

Nicole needs to find some happiness; she has waited long enough. She and Mark would make a great pair. Plus, Nicole is the best female actress on the show. Far too many of the very young set for my taste -Will should stay gone; no recast; Sami is getting to me – yell, have sex, yell, have sex – boring. Rafe needs to get out of the hospital and back in the picture, too. I like Justin Kierakis, too, but not so much with Adrianne.

Oh I can’t wait to see him on Days! Honestly…I think he needs to be paired up with Hope if Bo isn’t coming back. I hate to see Hope with anyone else…but if he isn’t coming back, then she needs a hot new man! I think they would make a great looking couple. And I think Daniel and Nicole should get back together. I don’t like seeing Dr. Dan with Jennifer.

I agree with you Melanie. If Bo isn’t coming back he would look good with Hope. I do like Daniel and Jennifer together though, but she needs to get a life and a backbone.

Oh…I don’t want him to be Bo that had plastic surgery. Let him be a new character…and a good guy!

He is playing a guy names Liam, who know Daniel one of the Drs at University Hospital. I hear there will be a major drug dealer coming to Salem. Maybe it is him. I think he would be a great matchup for Hope. Maybe he has a past with Jordan. Interesting… Can’t wait to see.

He would be so good for Nicole she really needs a good man, and I want Eric and Brady to want her even more when they see her with her new man!!!!!

I think he should definately be a new character unconnected to either family. Someone that NICOLE can get together with. My gosh that character deserves some happiness. Since Kate, Gabi & Sami are in a world of legal hurt, give Nicky a positive storyline for a while.

Give him to Abby so she will leave EJ alone….Good golly DOOL don’t mess a good thing. Sami and EJ belong together. They are the glue to your show. Otherwise many will just turn it off.

Why didn’t B&B pick up Collier as Ridge Forrester?

I am so excited Kristen is coming backs to days she does do things, but u have to feel sry for her cause she has gentle side and she just cool!!!! I hate how rafe fell in front of nick It mad me sad for rafe however loved seen where he hid behind tree watching nick w cane!!!! Truly made me lol!!! I wish Gabi would tell big bro truth so he can help her!!! Really sad Sami leaving I love her character and feel she will be hard act to follow!!!! Makes me wonder if ej and abby are new super couple if so poor jennifer !!!and she thought kk was her rebel child !!!

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
