Robb Derringer Posts Special Note To GH Fans Who Started The SAVE SLOANE Campaign!

As many fans of ABC’s General Hospital know by now, Robb Derringer’s run as Agent Kyle Sloane has come to an end as the actor let everyone know recently via social media on December 19th that he wrapped his final episode.

Now a new campaign has been started… the #SaveSloane campaign by fans on facebook in hopes of bringing back the character.

Robb wrote in appreciation to the campaigners:  “I just want to express to everyone how grateful and humbled I am by the outpouring of support and love you’ve shown me in playing the character of Special Agent Kyle Sloane. I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to me. I’m still unsure what exactly I did wrong for them to end my run on GH as I tried my best every day I was there to deliver a complex, multidimensional and dynamic character. I believe I did so. But there’s nothing more I can do except hope that maybe the voices of you fans might change the minds of the producers, writers and execs at GH/ABC. Regardless I remain grateful for the time I did have playing Sloane and loved every minute of it, including working opposite Finola Hughes who is a lovely person and terrific actor. I’m also very grateful to Frank Valentini for giving me the opportunity he did with Sloane. Anyway, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your efforts, your time and your enthusiasm.”

He went on to tease: “There’s a lot coming up in the coming episodes for Sloane. Some pretty interesting, exciting stuff and certainly there was so many places for me to go with the character. Maybe your campaign to bring me back might work. I hope it may. Regardless I’m humbled and indebted to each and every one of you for your kindness and support. Much love…xo”

So, what do you think of Robb’s comments? What do you think will happen with Agent Sloane in upcoming episodes?  Do you want to see him back on the canvas? Comment below!

The character was okay – better than your stock no-name federal agent, but then again GH excels in casting these types of bit parts.

What turns me off, however, is this: “I’m still unsure what exactly I did wrong for them to end my run on GH as I tried my best every day I was there to deliver a complex, multidimensional and dynamic character. I believe I did so.”

In my opinion, it is unseemly and bad form for the actor to take this stance and so publicly. It’s not about him – it was more or less a bit part and they decided to ultimately leave it at that. Nobody at the show or network owe him an explanation of “what he did wrong.” Typical actor ego can’t see the forest for the trees. He did nothing wrong but GH has about 50 characters and this one did not make the cut.

The way he goes on you’d think he was a vet who got cut. Actually the vets who HAVE gotten cut to recurring – Mac, Spinelli, etc. have been FAR more gracious and tight-lipped than this Derringer character. I’d just say, Rob Derringer this show does not revolve around you – we enjoyed your character while he lasted but now is the time to graciously recede into the background and let the talented cast and crew of GH continue on doing what they do so well without so much of your bellyaching and whining stinking things up!

Exactly what I was thinking! The character was for this story arc and not needed after that. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

FyI the stance he took was in a fan group. He didn’t meet with SID!

The “belly aching” is from all the tweets where people asked WTF happened!

Nick, I agree with you. While I really would have liked to have seen a Sloan?Anna pairing (even if it wasn’t the end game), I didn’t care for his “what did I do wrong” comment. It’s a business and I would think he would have known the length of his stay before he started or at least understood it could have been shorter or longer depending upon the needs of the business. That’s part of acting, no? I think it would be great to see him come back, but I hope he selects better words that reflect a more mature-sounding actor in his next posts.

Remember, you can’t hear his tone of voice when you read his comments.
His bewilderment is well warranted and I share it.
I have no issue with his asking where he went wrong because I think it was meant as a rhetorical question as if to say,”Why did they make this hasty and stupid decision?” But see, he’s too polite to make such a statement.
That said, I liked his looks and thought he was a good actor. In my estimation he made a far bigger impact than Robocop (Nathan) who still seems to have job security.
I thought he would be fabulous in a romantic pairing with Anna. I think Anna, the Emma Peel of Port Charles, needs to be with a strong romantic lead and yes, a woman as dynamic as Anna probably should be with a younger man who can keep up with her. Failing that, she should be coupled with Robert Scorpio but that isn’t happening because Y&R was smart enough to give him a one year contract.
Anna has no chemistry with Duke of Bloomingdale’s anymore. What worries me is that now that this potential romantic partner has been axed, what is to become of Anna? We’ve already watched this former superspy be reduced to a imbecilic, slightly corrupt police commissioner in order to prop up her heinous nemesis, Dr O. The writing being afforded to Anna is not worthy of her talents and this latest casting non stunt is another example of this. I am not happy about it at all.

Harry, I understand your point. And now, after finding out that the role has been recast, I understand where he is coming from. I think Robb was doing an excellent job. I don’t think a recast was necessary from my POV. Of course, I don’t know what was going on at GH. I wish him well.

I have mixed feelings about even someone like Grayson, who I love, taking over this role when I was really liking watching Robb and hoping “Sloane” and “Anna” would become an item. Not too sure about how Grayson’s take on “Sloan” will effect that. Guess I’ll have to watch and see.

Well put Nick D. I felt uncomfortable and kind of sad for him. [Wherever he made the comments]

From what I have seen and read. That is Robb. This man put his thoughts online. He was being open and honest. Did not do wrong by stating if you r not happy about seeing him leave aa Sloane to say so. Apparently he was mot evetold recast

“…it is unseemly and bad form for the actor to take this stance ”

ditto !

his bit pit was so quick…. there was no time to become attached

altho!

yikes… when Anna charged in to his room… disconsolate… ie: where’s my Duke

shirtless Agent Sloane IS hot ! Jeff Bridges immediately came to mind… what a HOTTIE

Interesting Patrick, because on his IMDB page, RD lists Jeff Bridges as his favorite actor.

Well, he wasn’t out of line asking what he did wrong because his part has been recast.
I am not sure why some of you are being so hard on the guy.
Maybe GH is taking casting lessons from Y&R (see the great Billy Abbot re cast debacle). This was handled badly and they owe the actor an apology.

Agree with you once again, Harry. Yes, he made his disappointment public but I thought it rather obvious that if they had just told him it was a few episodes from the beginning he wouldn’t have been so sidelined. He was told when he was hired it was for six months possibly more…can TOTALLY understand his disappointment…possible hurt.

I like Agent Sloane ..
I like him with and against Anna..

sometimes actor are hired for a short job, it is the way it is..
there are casting budgets that are strict..
Perhaps someday he will return for a good long time, ya never know..
wishing Robb Derringer the best on returning!

Thanks for great response SU000 I know that they can hire and let you go pretty easy. I just believe that they need to take storylines more seriously. They experiment with chemistry way too much. Patrick and sam for instance waste of storyline.

He’s been replaced with Grayson McCouch from As The World Turns. So now they have saved Sloane but Sloane is now someone else. OUCH! I believe THAT is why RD’s confused. Me too. I really enjoyed his acting style & look. He did a great job..

NuSloane, GM, looks suspiciously like RP’s Nathan. I already thought Sloane might be his daddy, even though there is only a 17 or 18 yr age difference between Old and NuSloane and Nathan. I definitely think now he is Nathan’s daddy. Hmmm???

Layla, you are very gracious.
Laurie, I agree. RD gets to be confused without people kicking him when he’s down.

Well Twitter can good and bad at the same time. All eyes can be on you without even following you. When you have a large group of people trying to save you? You feel you owe them an explanation. Saying you did your very best sometimes is a gut reaction andreally the only thing that can be said . What if he said GH sucks amd they are fools for not keeping me. Would that be better?

Well, he said a little too much. “I’m not sure what I did wrong.” Really? As an actor he should know it is just business. I was getting interested in Sloane. When he danced with Anna, I saw real potential. Did the writers have a plan for him, then changed their minds? We’ll probably never know.

I didnt see the chemistry. He seems a little too vanilla BUT I always was one to hope Anna and Robert would find their way back.

Seems he’s been replaced w/Grayson McCouch from ATWT. I like RD too & although he’s an actor & that’s how it goes often, maybe he has never been let go before? He’s got a nice IMDB page-good work history. I’m sure he will line up some great work.

Maybe GH wanted a vet like GM, or maybe it’s because he looks exactly like Nathan, but 17-18 yrs older? I think he’s Nathan’s daddy. That’s all.

Of courses we the fans wants to see agent Sloane return for the producer/writers to change their minds he is a fresh character to dig our theeth and he is not a criminal and he has great chemistry with the commissioner, and he can fit in with a quite of the other character on GH just give him a chance that’s all the fans is asking

Agreed , something the fans are genuinely interested in. A new guy that has great chemistry with Finola and could be a great addition with others if they give him a chance.

I agree…I was hoping for something to happen with him & Anna….how refreshing that would be.

I barely noticed that the guy was on the show. He’s been on the air a handful of times. He wasn’t even on contract. He was just a dayplayer. A campaign for a dayplayer is a bit much. lol

My neighbor who has been a fan of the soaps from day one me told;
Roger/Todd Manning (a revered soap star )was a to be short week or two stay..
and– Billy Clyde Tuggle (now a soap icon villain) was also as a day player..
there are others…
so, Sloane could be a biggie, yah never know..

there have been others who had a bit part and stayed on to be fan favorites….

Tony Geary also was not supposed to be a long running character either. The writers had no idea what a hit Luke was going to be with the fans which is why they had it written in the script that he would rape Laura at the campus disco.
At the time, Scotty and Laura were sort of the precursors to soap super couples–every adored them.
No one could have predicted the chemistry which was ignited by the Luke and Laura pairing. Had they been able to predict the future, they would never had Luke rape Laura.

Agree. Wholeheartedly. This is a legit/serious article?

To see Sloane mixed up in the New Years shenanigans with vets and ICONS like Finola Hughes, Ian Buchanan, and Lynn Herring… I wanted to laugh at that alone. Thought it was a sadder statement that there was no one of actual significance in that age range that had HISTORY on the show that could have served the purpose Sloane did on New Years.

I honestly saw more spark and potential in a May/December Anna/Nikolas pairing than did I ever take the future of Agent Sloane seriously.

Nothing against the actor. He’s decent, and looks okay without a shirt on all oiled up. But the character has no connection to the canvas and this is a soap opera going into its 52nd year. If your actions don’t create ripples across the whole canvas, your future is very limited in soaps. I didn’t think this character stood a chance and in six months we won’t remember he ever existed. Probably within three months, LOL.

I haven’t seen Mondays episode yet…nor did I read his social media post…so this is the first I’m hearing of his exit. Disappointing. I thought maybe they’d explore a possible love/hate relationship between Sloane and Anna. I thought the actor was very cartoonish when he first appeared at Nicolas’s door…but I liked him very quickly. I thought the droll dialogue between Sloane and Anna very amusing/charming. What I find interesting is the public way actors express their likes, dislikes and disappointments to their fans knowing full well that the producers and writers are reading their comments too. In this case I hope Frank and Ron respond favorably…I’d like to see more of this guy.

With all due respect to the actor, who I’m sure is a nice guy, but he did nothing for me. I mean he wasn’t bad or anything, he did a fine job. But it was nothing memorable by any means. Just seemed like another day player in a short-term role, which is exactly what he turned out to be. Nothing more. Don’t get all the fuss about him.

If GH fans want to start petitions to bring actors back to the show, how about a campaign to bring Genie Francis back? Now that’s a petition I would sign in a second.

I would love Genie back, Dan. We need her.
I think all folks are saying is give peace a chance. I mean, give this actor a chance.

Many have started as a bit part only to become long term. The outpouring of tweets to execs shows that his part as Sloane is one that fans want explored. He is handsome ,sexy , and talented. Hi

Robb sparkled on GH! He turned out brilliant and nuanced performances.
I hope the people over at DAYS takes notice of this gem, and signs Robb Derringer to play the new and improved role of ‘Peter Blake-DiMera’.
All the best, J.

I didn’t see what was so great about the character– just my opinion. Too many vets & off screen characters for a character like his to be more than a short term. Can we get a campaign to bring back characters like Jax or more screen time for characters like Mac?

I agree, nothing against Robb but Lets use more people that are still on the show and underutilized.

Such a shame….it was refreshing to welcome this traditionally handsome soap-type of male to GH…and there was definitely much potential for a romantic match-up with Anna. Additionally, I concur with Harry that “Duke of Bloomingdales” is no longer the man for the Divine Devane…..if she is not fated to pair up with the “Sloane Ranger, ” then I still maintain that Frisco Jones would be a perfect partner for the “Emma Peel of Port Charles.”

I was totally taken aback at Anna’ new years eve scenes

when she was teetering with all her emotions

be it the police lackey in question… charged for mishaps …

OR her breakup with Duke

that’s what was affecting her more

she’s telling Agent Sloane : bring me up on charges “i don’t care ”

it was very telling that it was Duke that she felt more about

going from room to room, at the metro court , it would seem : to no avail

come on Anna… stand upright

is this all for naught ? as her public office won’t allow her with Duke because he has taken over in the interim for Sonny?

of the long standing veteran couples that RC/FV “avail” : this is my couple

I’m sure there’s going to be a new years eve thread :

can’t hold back

those switcheroo scenes with :

Ned ala Olivia w/Alexis
Julian ala Alexis w/Olivia

were the best fallout of… triumphant in my eyes

plot thickens….

Ned : “was it good for you”

Alexis in nuns habit and cloaked black robe barely treads endorphin

I wish Skye was back in town for Julian

Ned and Julian steamied up the portent of ladies in wait

todays ep: tuesday

Rebecca Herbst’ Liz is OH, so Lovely : magnified : Ric Lansing IS back

nuJason doesn’t have to be tight to anyone, tied

he can connect… with Liz, Sam, and even Carly

let him layering with remembering the Q’s first… traverse

he’s acting

because It took off like fire… gangbusters: Liz and Ric I can’t believe it

but… nuJason… if he recalls his original upbringing : folks won’t get “angered” that he didn’t pick…. ladies

be it Liz Sam and dare I say… hard with carly

let Jason fly

an easy original transition

by the way : i’m still lingering for Morgan and Ava.. with babes I like him
miss ava

loved that child was shown to Sonny to no avail i want a reunion with ava and Morgan

Wasn’t on long enough to become invested.

This just annoys me….I liked him ….I liked him with Anna…I wanted something new for her….She seemed younger & more beautiful lately….he was a gorgeous addition to this show…I was hoping for a romance….I got so tired of Anna & Duke….the first new character I liked in a while & they get rid of him….not a good thing… :/

Anna & Duke are so done, I would rather watch Anna alone than with another old flame. There is Zero chemistry between those two and it has really dragged the character of Anna down all this past year.

It’s a shame… the demise of Anna and Duke..thru no fault of the actors. They were a great couple at one time..and when Ian came back…albeit as Faison with a mask…I was thrilled. I anticipatied Anna finally finding out where the real Duke was being held…and the recapturing of the romance between the dashing rogue with a good heart and his beautiful adventure-seeking spy, Anna. But after all the wrong places and faces…nada! She broke up with Luke for him…chose him over Scorpio…and then they were barely on screen together. So yeah…it’s time for her to have a new romance. Sloane looks like a promising possibility. I liked Robb in the role…good-looking and a good actor. Shame..hoping the recast will br great as we’ll.

Like anybody that ever shows up in Port Charles, there will be those that take a liking for him/her and those that won’t. I am not sure where some people are coming from by saying they didn’t even know he was on the show, I am guessing it is the people who fast forward so that they only see Ryan Paevey(Nathan) for the day. There is more going on in Port Charles than just a guy in a towel. I personally think Robb Derringer is a great looking guy, great actor, who had potential to at least make us swoon. He still has episodes left to air, in which I hear there are some really great things left to air. If we judged some people even by their acting alone when they first start, then they certainly wouldn’t be around anymore. Maybe if Agent Kyle Sloane had come to town with a secret agenda to take Liz (Rebecca Herbst) away, because of her involement with Jake/Jason, Ric (Rick Hearst) or even Nikolas(Tyler) who is now hiding Helena. I am not trying to say you have mo right not to be happy. I am just saying that maybe if we as fans gave someone a chance and get personally invested then we wouldn’t have the constant come and go of actors. Maybe if we could put an Actor like Robb Derringer who plays Agent Kyle Stone on a contract maybe it would limit storylines like Fluke. Fluke has gone on for so long. I get that Anthony Geary had back surgery and had to recover, but that storyline sure doesn’t have me on the edge of my seat. One last OPINION I will throw out there is people tried to start a movement to get Jimmy Deshler (Rafe Jr) back on GH, it never got this kind of attention. Finally Robb Derringer posted the “I dont know what ibdid wrong, or why they are going in a different on his fan group page, because the common question among people is WHY. I would rather issue an actual response to everyone, instead of ignoring people. I think when suddenly let go from any type of work we often look at ourselves and wonder what you could of done differently. Keep an open mind and please tweet.

Layla, great point. I wasnt invested in Sloane but at least he could act. Ryan Peavey is shoveled down our throats daily and he couldnt get the lead in a high school play!

The role has been recast, so let it go people!!!

Lisa, I find it inherently annoying when someone orders another person they don’t know around. Let people express their opinion on this news, and I won’t tell you to zip it when you tell them to let it go.

Layla, it reminds me of when Y&R fired David Tom allegedly because he seemed too young for the role of Billy Abbott ( a role he originated).
Well, they knew going in that David Tom seemed young so why fire him for being too young for the part later?
It seems to me that they are letting this actor go for similar reasons which became self evident with the replacement.

Even though the new guy is a year younger. Then lets get rid of Duke. What purpose doeshe play? He cant run a business.

I like him, I just thought he was favoring a known criminal DR.O and a Terrorist Faison.

Your right Julie. Sloan and Anna were on the same side, WSB agents. Sloan should have sided with Anna because of their affiliation. I’m not saying he should turn his back because they are agents but what Robert and Anna did versus what Liesel and Faison did, no comparison. Revenge! Cops stick together. Sloan should have stuck together with Anna.

Will miss Sloane, best of luck to Robb. Would have loved to see Sloane’s history with Anna explored, those few scenes we got of them on screen were great and leaving me wanting for more. Hopefully GH will bring him back one day. Hot NYE kiss btw, best Anna’s had in a long while!

BYE!

He is a wonderful actor and did a great job! He needs to stay on the show he did better then theother actors that can’t act ! GH u need to keep Robb Derringer on the show!

Anna needs options just like Alexis! This fan thought Sloane would finally be it, but no, we’re back to the sexiest female in PC once again being without a hot relationship. Look at Ashley on YR, why do they write hotness for her while GH turns Anna into Audrey Hardy? Finola Hughes deserves better!

Absolutely correct! It is beyond ridiculous that Anna gets little attention for being a woman and basically little to no story unless she’s playing support to one of her cops.

I totally concur with Lauren and Maria.
And Alexis today looked ridiculous acting like a jealous school girl with Olivia.

Ah..disagree on your Alexis point, Harry. She obviously still loves him so she’s seemingly unknowingly, expressing her jealousy. It’s only human. Ned obviously has feelings and jealousy where Olivia’s concerned as well.

That’s okay, Rebecca. I forgive you.

I’m so relieved… 😉

heres what he did wrong, he was playing a good guy, you can’t be on gh unless your a criminal, duh!

Oh that is priceless because it is so true– thanks for the laugh.

That is true Aria…True and its why besides eye candy its why they lose viewers. Nobody on the show is a good person anymore. Not even Julexis which I love to watch but am getting nauseated just seeing them.

Here’s whats wrong with the character, he’s a good guy and good guys is the least of what GH wants, to be on GH you gotta be “bad”!

Its actually too bad that GH is using the same mold for every single baddie they create. Its not only been over done but they all morph together now and one is less interesting than the other. To me there is no difference between Nina and Ava. Julian, Sonny, Duke, Shawn, Fuke, their all the same.

I think the character of Sloane had potential and he was a breath of fresh air considering the cartoonish villain overload we have had to endure over the past year on GH. Honestly, they didn’t seem to give the story or the character much of a chance, which is a shame. He was the one decent thing to happen to the character of Anna in years.

I agree that the character of Sloane had potential, and Robb did a good job in the role – I thought he and Finola Hughes had great chemistry and funny banter – but the role of Sloane could have just as easily been played by a day player, it was a bit part that probably wasn’t meant to last very long from the start. And it’s a bit surprising that there was a campaign started to “Save Sloane” when so many beloved vets have left the show but no such campaign came for their characters.

Also, it seems like Robb is taking this personally when he says “I’m not sure what I did wrong”. I don’t think he did anything wrong, he’s a decent actor, and I’m sure Frank agrees; but the character’s story arc was likely not designed to last very long, seeing as he was only a minor character. It is disappointing though, because the character did have potential, but with so many other characters on the canvas, it made sense to let one of the less-important ones go.

Robb: Note to self…never ever do that again…you may very well have screwed the pooch! There is a lot to be said for holding yourself accountable to your actions and showing utmost dignity in these situations. Things change quickly in Hollywood therefore it is always best to let the fans speak. Bad move as now you are whining about sour grapes and a professional never ever does that.

And I liked the character! oh well….Anna and Duke are no doubt the end game…as it should be.

I loved that Anna had a potential new love. I always wanted Robert and Anna back together and that might happen in a year but for now they should throw her a bone, just not Sloan. Too vanilla. The name alone. Wasnt Sloan on Capitol? [ A woman, I know] I would have casted Robb as a Collin’s. He looks like he could be Kevin’s younger brother. In any event, dont cry out loud, everyday people lose their jobs and wonder why? I wish him luck. Seems like a good guy and a better actor than a couple others on GH now who have front burner stories.

Dude, be grateful you’re off that mess. GH is not good for any serious actors resume.

Possibly some of the context in which the comments were made isn’t coming across, but he comes off as not understanding the nature of the business, which would be surprising. The character never struck me as someone who was intended to stay around indefinitely; he came on to generate conflict/problems for Anna and there wasn’t any reason to think the character would be around after that played out. It didn’t necessarily come down to anything like “what I did wrong”; sometimes characters just aren’t part of the longer-term story plan (and that includes people on contract). I take people’s points about “well, sometimes that changes when an actor proves really popular,” but even if that doesn’t happen, it doesn’t imply the actor did something wrong.

I found him to be a reasonably engaging actor, and a longer exposure might have shown even more than that, but on a show that’s as overcrowded with characters as GH is, it can hardly be a surprise when a role that is intended as short term remains so. (And there’s nothing to say they couldn’t bring him back later, either, if he’s really as popular with viewers as it seems he may be.)

No disparagement meant to the actor, but even if not extending his run is the wrong decision ultimately for the show, in the category of “GH casting mistakes in recent memory,” I wouldn’t even put this one in the top 10.

Ummm…Layla not all of us fast forward to just watch Nathan in a towel, so no need to bring Ryan’s name into this or insult the GH viewing audience in your rant. There are many who watch the entire show, but just didn’t find anything special about a dayplayer to start a tweeting campaign that you & your little group have been on. It’s annoying, so enough already!

I did not say everyone does. What little group would that be? I am on no group I may view a few in which everyone loves Ryan Paevey in which he can’t get out of bed with Maxie. Oh yes that is my problem. I enjoy GH for the complete show. I had hope for a new actor, one that hasnt been brought back from the dead. I wasn’t insulting all the GH viewers. Those who fast forward through most of the show know who they are. As far as a tweeting campaign its not the first or the last. It just got attention and I am sure that upsets you.

A good looking, manly man with a great speaking voice. He is slow to warm up, but he is very commanding of the screen.

Y&R should hire him as Billy and give Burgess Jenkins his walking papers

Well, I think he is taking it a bit too personally unless the show’s top brass lead him to believe the character was going to have a long term presence on the show and then change their mind. Otherwise, it was a short term role, to serve the plot– which was to resolve where Faison was and what Anna did with him and to set another Fluke pt 2. \

He did have that Elliot Ness vibe about him, but instead of going after the real bad guys he was hunting down Anna, one of the show’s most moral characters- which made no sense to me. However, I did see how an old fashion love hate relationship would work with their characters, but that doesn’t seem to be direction they are going in, so we will never know.

Thanks to everybody who has offered words of kindness and support. I’m gonna be fine regardless. I’m a survivor and I’ve been making my living in this business for 20 years now. This isn’t the first heartbreak job I’ve ever had, probably won’t be the last. I am no crybaby when it comes to hard knocks. I’m a Buddhist and I know there is always wisdom and value to be gained in the trials of life. What was confusing, and what a lot of the haters don’t realize is that there’s some pretty significant story coming up for Sloane. It wasn’t supposed to be a quick, empty story arc but ongoing for a while. I was told when I was hired I’d be on for at least 6 months, maybe more. I’m not gonna spoil or reveal anything, but I will say I was heading in a direction with the character that more firmly established Sloane in PC and gave him a lot of places to go character wise. And for me as an actor, that was pretty exciting. Why it was so abruptly ended for me was what left me confused and wondering what happened. I was told every day I was there that everyone loved what I was doing with the character and I know I worked my ass off to deliver in every scene. I literally shot an episode beginning a new story direction the day before I was notified it was over. So, of course that left me confused, with a lot of questions. I think it’s also left a lot of fans with the same questions because clearly the character has resonated with people. When you see the coming episodes you’ll understand better what I mean. I’m sure in time it’s all going to be explained. Either way, again thanks to everyone for the love and support. It’s been a real inspiration to see how fans have rallied in my defense and regardless of the outcome I will take that with me. Such is the life of an actor unless you’re on contract, and so, I’m hittin the bricks again today, out there auditioning trying to get the next gig. Thank you for being so kind to me during this one. Much love, Robb Derringer

Hey Robb,
You’re a class act, man. I appreciate your words to your fans. I too, had hoped you would be able to continue in the role as Kyle Sloane. All I can offer is that things happen for a reason. I guess this is the cue for DAYS of OUR LIVES to recognize your brilliance and bring you on in the return of Peter Blake-DiMera! I wish you the best. Stay strong. You continue with your journey. DAYS will get you!

Is this the real Robb Derringer?? If so, HUGE fan!!! I hope you end up on DAYS, you would make an awesome Peter Blake-Dimera!!!! Me and my gfs down south love watching everyday….they all think you are absolutely gorgeous!!!! enjoyed your work and hope to see you again soon on our screens!!! Or in person, haha!!! 🙂

@ Richard – I think it is the real Robb. Anyways, I believe he’s out in L.A….in my neck of the woods. haha!!! 😉

Robb, I had no idea you were going to make an appearance.
Thank God I was nice about you (you really are doing a great job).
But now I better be careful about I say about the other players.
As a Buddhist you know that it’s the journey, not the destination. Consider Port Charles a mere pit spot enroute to something much much better.
You are something special–Finola Hughes knew it.

I hope to see in something else soon, Robb D. I really enjoyed you on GH. Best wishes.

Robb…I think many were confused and/or surprised when you said you didn’t know what you had done wrong…I also thought it unusual to be said “out loud” …yet at the same time I suspected that you might have been promised a longer gig and the replacement came out of left field. Totally understandable why that would feel devastating…you perhaps doubt yourself, and you have to readjust from coming of an emotional high of having steady work at something you love doing, acclimating yourself to the story, people, character…and then cast out. Can imagine the disappointment and sense of rejection. Happens to many people in many different professions…though that doesn’t make the hurt less when it’s happening to you. You
seem like a great guy…possessed with good looks, talent and a sincere spirit. Wishing you the best and hope to find you somewhere on my screen in the near future!

sorry that you were let go, i hate when they recast, if they wanted to go in a different direction why not start our with a new character altogether? recast should be a last resort, if you want to keep a character, keep the original actor too.

Some of us think you’d make a great Peter Blake on ‘Days Of Our Lives’ if they ever bring the character back…if you really are Robb???

@ jimh – I still think it is Robb’s post. It seems that he’s quite an unconventional guy. Anyways, I sure hope Days of Our Lives is listening that most of us are longing for a Peter Blake return.

yes, jimh…it’s Robb. he posted similar sentiments on this verified twitter account.

aha..
Robb’s comments were very gracious and kind..
he is man who would like to be employed and is grateful for the attention..
I will say this;
Robb’s comments are hold 90% ‘less’ whining then some of the people in this thread whining over his statement. ; hypocrisy must be catchy….. lol 😉

and thank God Sue was behaving tonight. She’s actually making sense!

Am I missing something? According to a web site that posts episode counts for actors/characters the guy was on twice in Dec. and I guess maybe a couple more times in the first week of Jan.?

I don’t think the role was ever intended to be anything more than a momentary plot point so I find it a little weird that the actor is behaving like he was hired for a contract role only to have the rug pulled from under him after only a few days.

I thought he had spectacular chemistry with Anna Devane and hate to see his run end, but he should keep his mouth closed. GH, with the cast they have is bloated enough as it is, and if he was hired for a short arc, understand that it’s business, and go about your way. That being said, they should bring him to DAYS as Peter Blake DiMera!! Since Jason Brooks cant/wont return, this is a perfect recast!!!!!

Totally. that’s what I’ve been saying on this blog for weeks. DAYS needs to hire Robb as the new and improved Peter Blake.

Jeremy, I saw your comments on this thread and the other page, glad to know someone agrees with me!! Jason Brooks is gorgeous and would love him to return, but that mid-90s scandal with MS would prevent that, so he would be a good recast!!! Always like making friends on here!! Cheers!!

@ Richard – Yeah, since there was a ‘Save Sloan Campaign’…maybe Robb fans like us, can start a ‘Bring Robb to DAYS as new-Peter’ campaign.
I sure would love to see Robb in action with Eileen Davidson upon her visits, among being paired up with Eve, maybe. Peter and Eve?!?! Eve loves taking Jennifer’s men!!! So, I digress, I’m all about the handsome and talented Robb migrating to DAYS.

I took note of him on GH only when he took his shirt off–hot!

WOAH! SOD reports that Grayson McCouch replaces Robb Derringer as Kyle Sloane!!!

Has Grayson McCouch just been named as the new Sloane? They’ve kept the character, but not the original actor. This is all over social media right now.

I thought it anyway, but now I ABSOLUTELY think they recast Sloane w/GM because he looks just like Nathan, but 18-20 yrs older. I think he is going to be Nathan’s father or brother. IMO.

Having worked in the entertainment industry 15+ years, it doesn’t bother me AT ALL that he expressed confusion about being let go, especially since it’s the actor leaving, not the character. Also, he complimented the fans, TPTB and Finola Hughes. He said NOTHING bad about anyone like some others have. He’s just venting & feeling hurt. He’s a PERFORMER, an ENTERTAINER. His job is to entertain, so yes, actors and artists are sensitive. He’s human. Plus he has gained a good amount of fans-I see a lot of twitter & GH messageboards talk about him positively. So I see why he is confused. Especially if many fans were campaigning on his behalf to keep Sloane on. Not to be rude, but someone like BJ, the NuNuBilly on YR, who is complained about 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week on social media, STILL, although he’s been on quite a good while by now- Now if he got walking papers, he would have a clue as to why. I have not seen many complaints from fans about RD as Sloane.

Who among us has never been let go a time or 2? No matter who you are, what the job, or how long you’ve been on the job, it hurts one’s feelings, especially if you are working hard & a lot, as RD obviously was on GH. I remember getting fired once from a waitress job-YES, and a slow restaurant at that. I was so indignant! Feelings hurt. Still have no idea why..lol.20 yrs later, I still remember.

I’ll continue following Robb!

Well said Laurie! I will continue following Robb also!

wow… that’s a great summation of Grayson McCouch looking like Nathan

altho… and I LOVE her.. Kathleen Gatti…. she still seems a little old for even GM

I was absolutely enchanted for her character’ Leisl to being romantic

she deserves to layer and emote more

Patrick…it’s actually interesting but Kathleen isn’t that much older than Finola Hughes. She’s only 57. Finola is 55. The two Sloanes are 46 and 47 so they’re all in the ballpark of each other.

As for Kathleen, I looked her up out of curiosity. She’s actually very pretty! There were several pictures of her with long blonde hair, and others of her with a less severe look. I think we all got the impression she was so much older because when we first met her as Robin’s co-kidnapper she was just drawn as a plain jane creepy woman. The character has evolved so much since then in both looks and personality…love her too!

Nicely said, Laurie. Agree with your sentiments.

I was sorry to hear that he was let go. I actually started liking him as an adversary of Anna. Why shouldn’t he be allowed to wonder? Especially since his character is being recasted. I hate PTB release an actor after I’ve taken a liking to them.

Just found out about the recast; that is sad for Derringer. I liked him as the FBI agent. Well acted, very businesslike, good chem w/Anna. I do wonder if GH is going in the direction that Sloane is supposed to be a ‘dirty’ character in that he was the one to bring the ‘wrongful imprisonment’ of Johnny Zaccarra to Anna’s attention. Maybe he had something to do with that. Possibly the powers that be behind GH wanted a more sinister approach to the Sloane character? Just brainstorming. Also, Grayson does look like RP’s Nathan. Maybe this will be the secret love-child of Sloane & Liesel, but I don’t recall any major reaction from Liesel in the Spoon Island stables, when she saw Sloane. Also, was brainstorming about 1) who is Rosalie connected to & 2) even though Sabrina is really not on that much, WHO is her mother? Wasn’t her mom a Nurse? Wouldn’t it be weird if Sabrina was the long-lost Quartermaine heir…that her Mom was Monica’s daughter, Dawn (a nurse?) & her father is…??? These are my thoughts of late! Well, good luck, Derringer!

yeah I don’t remember any weird tension between Sloane and Obrecht, but maybe Sloane is Nathan’s father or maybe it is Madeleine’s husband??

His acting was bland and lackluster. It was a minor part that they allowed him to play. Now there are plans to pair the character with Anna and his acting wasn’t up to par so he was replaced. Simple. It’s the nature of the beast.

It is like he has a vendetta toward Anna.

I will miss this Agent Sloan. Robb Derringer is good looking and seems to be a very interesting man. Hope to see you acting again on TV soon.

The more Rob Derringer appears in his remaining scenes, the more confusing it is why they replaced him. And so abruptly. I can really understand why he was so upset. The character is going to be involved in a huge SL…and he was really growung into the role. No job security anywhere…and the easy disposal of people, without warning, is cutthroat.

I’m not one to leave comments, but after watching today’s episode, I had to write my two-cents’ worth… WHY ARE THEY REPLACING THIS WONDERFUL ACTOR??? I’m absolutely not disrespecting the new one they’re bringing in (and I don’t care about the new actor’s past list of credits, including established soap credits), but the original “Agent Kyle Sloane,” Robb Derringer, is and has been giving top-notch performances. I love the nuances, the layers he adds, the life behind the eyes that suggest something more than the horrible dialogue actors are often given on soaps these days. He masterfully handles the storylines, no matter how ludicrous they are, and mostly I see the truth he brings to this new character that HE has brought to life before our eyes. It sickens me when someone who’s doing excellent work is let go (whatever the profession, it’s not right). If they don’t take him back, I hope another show sees his worth and hires him ASAP. In any case, “GH” is not the excellent soap it used to be (and I’ve been watching since I was a kid). The storylines and dialogue are horrid, and I feel so bad for the actors who are subjected to mediocre material. Some say soaps are indeed made of what’s not excellent, but that would be insulting to the audience and demoralizing to the GH staff. Hopefully, this tired ol’ soap will find new life again with new “powers that be” at the helm, and with writers and story developers who know these characters inside and out (doing the homework of looking into the characters’ history of the years) and who could, therefore, write stories that seem plausible for these characters, give them words that they would actually say, have the “heart” that it used to have, and take us on a fantastic, continuing journey again (and, yes, writing soaps can be just that too). Robb Derringer was a breath of fresh air, and I think I’ll end my time watching the goings-on in Port Charles when his portrayal of this character is over.

Gang I really wasn’t going to post. Here is…1=I do want him back and am 1 of the many fighting to get him back. 2= Yes..as far as people saying it’s a job, and that’s the nature of acting you can get fired and should’ve known, however it wasn’t because this time the actor wasn’t late, didn’t have poor attitude, wasn’t rude, This was very last minute and Robb never even told they were doing a recast as far as he knew his story arc was coming to a close then they recast. He is a character I like. Found interesting, good looking, and could’ve been a possible choice to romantically pair with Anna if they were for now spliting up Duke/Anna. I am also honored to now call Robb a friend and hoep that we see him back on our tv screen on Gh either as Sloan or soemone new…

I felt Rob Derringer was really good looking and not as sinister looking as the new Sloan. Maybe they felt he was too good looking to play the part. In really liked his acting, though.

I agree

I don’t understand why people are being hard on Robb D. He said he doesn’t know what he did wrong. I don’t get it, either. What did he do to get recast? I thought he was a great new character. I saw the new Sloane and my first thought was “gross.”

I absolutely loved Sloan! I mean, I hated him too, lol! He was perfect, he made me so mad, but he was so gorgeous, that I couldn’t be mad. I am a huge GH fan, but furious about the Sloan replacement!

Hate the replacement of the character Sloane.

The Sloane replacement is horrible, he can’t act. Hoping that Rob will be asked back. He is a much better actor and very easy on the eyes!!

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Byrne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Byrne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

So, what do you think about Lane Davies returning to GH to play an attorney in Alexis’ orbit? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nikolas Gets an Earful from Ava About Sonny and His Meds; Nina and Drew Can’t Seem to Resist Each Other

Ava (Maura West) seems to feel she has a confidante in a jailed Nikolas (Adam Huss) on the Monday, April 29th episode of General Hospital. In story, Ava heads to Pentonville to visit her ex-husband before he is set to get transferred out of state.

When discussing her living relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard), which Nikolas already knew about, Ava says she is happy about how her relationship with Sonny has been evolving, Nikolas ask if she’s in love with Sonny. Ava denies it, but goes on to say how great it is for her daughter, Avery to be living with both her parents, who are on the same side and not at odds.

Nikolas believes that Ava loves being in Sonny’s inner sanctum and the power that comes with it. Ava fires back that she spent years looking in from the outside and that everyone despised her. When Nikolas brings up Nina (Cynthia Watros), she says Nina never really could understand the true type of man that Sonny is.

Then, Ava launches in on Carly (Laura Wright), and how she would love to stick it to her, for all the times she blocked Ava from seeing her child and Carly’s attitude towards her. Then, Ava admits to Nikolas that she knows that Sonny has a watered-down version of his bipolar medication, which is making him more vulnerable and she’s capitalizing on it for her own gain. She says she needs to figure out who is responsible, but Nikolas voices concern for Ava’s plan and that if Sonny ever found out she knew about it and did nothing, he would be on the warpath against her. Ava promises she knows what she’s doing. When she says goodbye to Nikolas, he looks upset and sad, as he still seemingly cares for Ava.

Meanwhile in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) office, Nina walks in complaining about Carly giving her a hard time about maintenance in her office. Nina wants payback for Jason (Steve Burton) buying Carly the hotel, but Drew is not up for playing games with her.  She says they both want revenge on Jason and Carly, which Drew denies. Next thing you know, Nina grabs Drew and kisses him. Although, it seems he might walk out the door and away from her, he locks it, and the two proceed to have round 2 of their hate-sex.

Elsewhere, Anna tells Jason about her shooting Charlotte and her concern about Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) involvement with Pikeman. Meanwhile, Valentin visits Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) in Pentonville, where threats are laid out to make Sonny look like the guilty party in eliminating Jason, while Anna is the line of fire, if she doesn’t keep her nose out of Pikeman business, which worries Valentin, who doesn’t want Anna getting hurt in any of this.

So, what do you think about Ava’s plans? Did you like seeing Nikolas back on the canvas? Are you all for a Drew/Nina continued affair? Will Anna get caught in the crossfire only to be saved by Valentin? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.
