Victor goes to Heather to make sure she plans to prosecute Adam. Heather, however, informs Victor that her hands are tied without evidence or a confession from Adam. Later, Victor meets with Jack to see if he cares more about beating Victor than he does about taking down Adam. Meanwhile, Heather goes to Adam to make sure he knows just how close the walls are to closing in on him. Jack and Ashley continue to wonder if Adam and Taylor stole Sharon’s baby if they should tell Sharon about their theory. Meanwhile, as Adam tries to convince Sharon to stay with him, things from the night of Sharon’s labor start to come back to her and she comes to same realization herself and asks Adam if her baby is still alive. Sharon pleads with Adam to tell her where Faith is but he chooses to save himself and Sharon realizes just how devious he truly is and leaves him. Later, Sharon tells Ashley about her theory and is stunned when Ashley immediately agrees with her and promises that they will find out what happened to Sharon’s baby. J.T. and Victoria agree to keep their divorce amicable. Later, the divorce proceedings get off to a rocky start. However, when J.T.’s lawyer starts to attack Victoria, J.T. immediately fires him and asks Victoria and Michael to reschedule for another time. Kevin continues to refuse to believe that Jana’s letter is real and Michael tries to play devil’s advocate but has to concede to Kevin’s point of view that Jana is too outspoken that Kevin wouldn’t know something this huge was wrong in their marriage. Meanwhile, Daisy snaps photos of Lauren and Paul’s kiss at Jimmy’s. Lauren brings Paul home and as they are reminiscing about the past, Paul is reminded of all the people is has let down. Lauren tries to make him feel better and before they know what is happening they fall into a kiss. Paul stops her, however, before things can get to far and realizes that Lauren is acting strange as she talks about Michael with no guilt or remorse for what they were about to do. Later, Lauren asks Michael to help Paul with Patty’s case, not mentioning anything that happened between them earlier. Jana tries to make a run for it when Daisy releases her in order for Jana to make a call to Kevin. As Kevin is trying to get Heather to help amp up the search for Jana, he gets a call from Jana herself. Jana is cold and disconnected as she tells him to stop looking for her and that their marriage is over. Kevin is devastated when he hangs up the phone. When Jana hangs up she tells Daisy that Kevin won’t give up no matter what she said, but Daisy tells her that she had better hope he does. Sharon and Ashley talk to the hospital, mental institution and morgue and learn that there is no file of Sharon giving birth or of a stillborn baby and Sharon realizes that her child is still alive. Meanwhile, Victor agrees to return Jabot back to Kay in order to secure Jack’s help in bringing down Adam. Jack tells Victor that he will do whatever it takes to make sure Adam gets what is coming to him.

Victor comes to see Sharon and Sharon tells him about her suspicions regarding Adam and her child. Victor tells her not to worry because he has a plan but he needs her help. Sharon agrees but asks that she be the one to tell Nick that their child is alive. Meanwhile, Heather approaches Rafe to talk to him about Adam wanting to know the real reasons behind all of his devious actions last summer. Later, Billy is furious when he learns that Adam was the one behind terrorizing Ashley, not Patty. Adam meets with a man named Richard Hightower at a fast food joint and Richard embraces Adam like a family member, thanking him profusely. As Adam and Richard are talking, Richard’s son comes in and Adam realizes that he can’t go through with whatever he had planned. Later, Adam returns to Sharon’s suite and finds himself completely alone. Victor goes to see Nick as he and Phyllis are leaving Victoria with the children on their way out for a date. He tells them that he confronted Adam and now he needs their help to bring Adam down. Meanwhile, Jack tells Ashley and Billy about his and Victor’s plan and although they are weary that Jack is teaming up with Victor they realize that Adam needs to be stopped. Billy offers to bring Rafe on board to help their legal cause as well. While trying to put the past behind them, Rafe and Heather both get calls from Billy and Phyllis asking them to meet them at the G.C.A.C. to discuss Adam and they realize something big is going on.

Ashley makes a promise to Sharon to do everything she can to help her get her child back to her. Meanwhile, Billy and Phyllis plead with Heather and Rafe for their help in making Adam pay for his crimes, no matter what. At the Abbott cabin, Sharon drops the bomb on Nick that she believes their child is still alive. Later, Victor promises that he won’t fail to protect his family from Adam again. Meanwhile, Victoria and Billy run into each other and as they are talking Billy tells Victoria about the time he saw Adam at the funeral home and they wonder where that fits into the puzzle. Sharon calls Adam to come to the cabin and she and Nick lay in wait for him to get the truth. Meanwhile, after talking to Rafe, Heather decides to help the Newmans and the Abbotts in their plan against Adam. Later, Adam arrives at the cabin to face Sharon. He pleads with her, telling her that he can change if only she will she will stay with him. Nearby, Nick sends a text to someone unseen. As Phyllis’s cell vibrates and learns that Adam is at the cabin and tells Victoria, who signals Billy and the plan is set into motion. Victor, set in shadows, at the Abbott cabin, looks at an old photo of him an Adam. As Adam continues to plead with Sharon, she tells him she is sorry just as someone clocks him over the head and falls into the snow unconscious.

As Chance works on a hit and run case, Amber and Chloe decide to go visit Cane in Immigration detention before he is deported. Meanwhile, Lily worries about what could happen to Cane if he is deported back to Australia. At Immigration, Jill and Kay promise to look out for Lily for Cane and to stick together as family until he comes back. Kay has to leave to meet Tucker and while they are alone, Cane admits to Jill that Lily gets her PET scan results today and if the results aren’t good he won’t leave the country, no matter what. As Lauren remembers her night with Paul, Daisy slips more liquid ecstasy into her drink. Michael enters and tells her that it is time they figure out what is causing all her strange symptoms. Daisy brings Lauren her coffee but Lauren decides against it and she and Michael leave as Daisy looks at the photos of her and Paul at Jimmy’s. Later, Lauren and Paul are uneasy when she and Michael meet with Paul to tell him that Michael had the court revisit “Emily’s” decision to have Patty’s committed indefinitely. As Cane and Jill say goodbye, Amber and Chloe arrive and playfully offer to do what they can to help Cane. Meanwhile, Kay meets with Tucker, who tells her he would like to make her his partner in Chancellor Industries and Kay can’t help but wonder if it’s a trick. Later, Lily overhears Jill telling Neil that Cane plans to escape if Lily’s test results come back negatively. After Lily leaves to see Cane, Jill tells Neil about her expose on Tucker and Neil wonder if her motives are as noble as Jill claims they are. Kay asks Tucker for control of her company back and wonders if things between have changed enough that he is willing to give her back what was always rightfully hers. Later, Tucker gives in and allows Kay to buy back enough stock of Chancellor to gain controlling interest. Kay embraces her son for the first time, just as Jill enters with the newest issue of Restless Style to see the hug. Alone, Lauren tells Paul that there is something really wrong with her and she doesn’t know why she acted the way she did the other night. Later, Daisy slips the photo of Lauren and Paul among Michael’s things. Meanwhile, Paul promises Lauren that he won’t say a word to Michael about what happened. As Amber and Chloe are working on their plan to help keep Cane in the country by baking him the world’s most disgusting cupcakes in order to make him sick, Chance arrives to talk to Chloe. She sees how distressed he is by this case and she decides that he needs to go home. Meanwhile, Lily opens up to Daniel about her fear of losing Cane and what he may do if her test results come back negative. Moments later, Cane calls her and, not wanting to worry him, Lily promises that her results will be positive. Later, after her cupcake plan fails, Amber tries to get Michael’s help but he tells her that Cane’s case doesn’t look good. At home, Chloe pleads with Chance to back off the Riggs case for Delia’s sake as well as her own, stating that she is falling in love with him. Chance agrees and finally tells Chloe that he loves her, who in turn tells Chance the same. Later, just as Chloe and Chance are about to make love, Chance stops it, wanting their first time to be perfect. Lily gets the results of her PET scan and they aren’t good. She calls Cane and lies to him, knowing that he would do something drastic in order to stay with her otherwise. After hanging up, Daniel wonders why she lied and she tells him that she needs his help in keeping her secret and he agrees. Meanwhile, Tucker is furious as he finishes his deal with Kay and sees the article in Restless Style, wondering if Kay has just played him.

Meanwhile, Tucker is furious as he finishes his deal with Kay and sees the article in Restless Style, wondering if Kay has just played him. Nick and Billy prepare to take on their roles in this battle as everyone is polled and Adam is found unanimously guilty. He pleads with Sharon on last time for her mercy but Nick has had enough and Victor and Jack wonder if they should stop him as Adam promises that he will help Sharon find her child if she is out there. In that moment, Phyllis arrives with the truth. Phyllis tells them about the letter Taylor dictated and gives it to Ashley. Ashley tentatively reads the letter and freaks out, not believing it. As Victor reads the letter to the group, Adam jumps on it, hoping to ally himself with Ashley, promising her that she knows what happened the night he delivered Faith. However, it all comes crashing down when Ashley remembers falling down the stairs, and finally realizes that it was Adam impersonating Sabrina. Ashley recounts that night for everyone as they all slow come to the conclusion that Taylor was telling the truth and Nick and Sharon finally settle on the truth that Ashley must have their daughter. Sharon nearly faints from the enormity of their realization and Nick rushes to her side, as Ashley collapses to the floor. Phyllis slips out of the cabin, unseen and Victoria helps her get away, knowing how difficult it must have been for her to tell the truth. Victor, seeing Ashley’s pain, attacks Adam, wanting the truth once and for all but Adam continues to play the victim. Later, Nick realizes Phyllis is gone and is caught off guard when Victoria tells him that she had to leave. Meanwhile, Phyllis curses herself for pushing to figure out what Adam was up to knowing now what it could end up costing her. Ashley’s denial continues as she refuses to entertain the thought that Faith could be Sharon and Nick’s child as Victor prepares himself to lose not just one but two children. Nikki offers to let Sharon stay with her and Victor while she and Nick try to sort things out in regards to Faith. As Sharon is leaving, Adam tries one last time to reach out to her but Sharon completely shuts him out and Victor promises to deal with him. Later, Nick comes home and Phyllis steals herself for what he has to tell her. Both Ashley and Sharon remained convinced that Faith is their child. At the cabin, Adam begins to panic and while Victor and Jack aren’t aware Adam grabs the fire poker and manages to get out the door and into the woods as the men go after him.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Jack and Nikki Hit Rock Bottom with Riveting Performances by Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott

If you caught the Thursday, May 2nd episode of The Young and the Restless, you witnessed an extraordinary episode filled with two unforgettable performances, that without a doubt will be remembered for 2024’s year-end accolades and next year’s Daytime Emmys.

In what at times reminded us that we were watching a two-person stage play or Y&R’s version of the classic motion picture, Days of Wine and Roses, two addicts hit rock bottom.

The episode only featured Melody Thomas Scott and Peter Bergman. The set-up, Nikki has gone on a massive bender alone in a GCAC suite, with booze bottles everywhere, slurring her words, sweating, the works. Jack, who is Nikki’s sponsor, ex-husband and friend, finds her and tries valiantly to get her to stop drinking and to sober up. He wants to get them to an AA meeting, he wants to get her to rehab. Throughout, while she is self-loathing on herself, Jack is reciting to her all the things she has to live for including Victor, her children, her charity work, etc.

Photo: JPI

All of this is falling on deaf ears because all Nikki wants is for Jack to leave, so she can continue drinking and be left alone with her vodka bottles.

At one point, she shoves Jack and says, “You have to want to get sober, but I don’t.”  Nikki throws an empty vodka bottle in disgust and tells him to stop with his damn positivity. She wants him to leave and smugly says,“You really think you can fix me?” She finds another bottle and opens it, but it’s empty. She smashes the bottle on the floor and runs into the bathroom.

Jack continues to plead with her that she is not to blame about Jordan and for Harrison being kidnapped. Trying to distract her, he talks to her about happy times with her family, orders food and coffee and water to help sober her up, but nothing is getting through to Nikki.

Next, Nikki says all his talking is making things worse, as he tries to grab the vodka bottle from her hands, but she won’t let it go. “I’m sorry I picked you as my sponsor,” Nikki angrily says to Jack. That moment stings Jack.  She tells him he ‘failed’. He couldn’t help her and now Victor can say, “I told you so.”

Slowly, Jack is losing his grip, with all the frustration and hurt Nikki has thrown at him. Nikki tells Jack to join the party or get out. Jack says, “Fine. I will.” He grabs a bottle and pours a drink. “Wow, that’s smooth. I see you sprung for the triple-distilled.” Nikki sneers, “Do you really think you can get me to stop by drinking half of my supply?” Jack suggests they order some vermouth. “Let’s see if Ol’ Smilin’ Jack can have fun again.”

Next, in a harrowing moment, Jack dials his former drug dealer, Kieran, to make a delivery to the suite. Jack tells Nikki she’s right. “I’ve been wound too tight for too long. It’s time to get loose!” Nikki is shocked at what she is seeing.

Photo: JPI

Now, Nikki is trying to to get the vodka bottle out of Jack’s hands but he won’t let her take it. Jack pours another drink and says he’s been a failure as her sponsor so to hell with it. “Don’t you try your reverse psychology on me,” Nikki spouts. After doing a toast to their marriage, friendship and Jordan, Jack tells Nikki, everything is not all about her.

He goes into the hell he has been through with Harrison, Ashley, Diane and Kyle and Nikki.  He wants some relief! Nikki reminds him alcohol was never his problem. Jack says he needs something stronger. Just then, a knock comes at the door. Jack pushes Nikki away and a delivery comes from Jack with a bag of pills. Jack says ,”Now, this is what hits the spot.”

Nikki is freaking out, but Jack says he has to remember what it feels like. When he holds the pills in his hand, that gives him comfort. Jack is grateful for their bond. “I would do anything for you.” He says he will go to rock bottom with Nikki, so they can climb out together. Jack remembers Diane was worried that helping Nikki might tempt him back to the pills. He told her there was no chance. He says, “It would help everyone else if they didn’t have to deal with Mr. Uptight.”

Even after all that, Nikki wants Jack out of the room. “Too bad, you’re stuck with me,” Jack says. He pours another drink and takes a pill out of the plastic baggie. Jack puts the pill in his mouth as Nikki shouts, “No!” Jack wonders how it feels to know you’re unable to help someone you care about. With that, he takes a drink to swig down the pill.

Nikki thinks he faked taking the pill, so Jack takes another one “There’s something liberating about just giving up.” Jack sadly says he let her down as a friend, and as a sponsor. Jack now blames himself for her massive bender. As he continues to down the pills, Nikki says she’ll get sober and will have something to eat.

However, Jack says this feels too good to eat. He takes yet another pill. Nikki tells him to give her the pills, because he can’t mix them with alcohol. Nikki’s phone makes a noise, so Jack grabs it and pretends it’s Victor on the other end, and then does his impression of Victor raising his eyebrow. Jack wants to continue his party, as he gets higher on the pills. Nikki says she does need a meeting. Jack pulls her close and says, “Dance with me.” As Nikki, pulls away, Jack passes out on the sofa. Nikki screams and we fade to black.

All we can say is, what towering performances by Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott, and a great script for them to play these scenes in. It was gut-wrenching and raw, and one of the best episodes on the soaps in a long time.

So, what did you think about Jack and Nikki hitting rock bottom? What did you think of Peter and Melody’s performances? Do you think Jack will now be back with a drug habit, while Nikki will finally sober up? Comment below.

Christopher Cousins Makes His Y&R Debut: What Were Your First Impressions of Alan Laurent?

Soap veteran, Christopher Cousins (ex-Cain, OLTL et al), made his first appearance on The Young and the Restless on the Tuesday, April 30th episode of the CBS daytime drama.

As previously reported, Cousins is taking on the role of Ashley’s friend/psychiatrist from Paris, Alan Laurent. In story, the Abbotts flew Alan in from Paris to see Ashley (Eileen Davidson) first-class ticket to Genoa City, no less.

Alan recalls to Traci (Beth Maitland) how Ashley was upset after revisiting the cafe where she had the fight with Tucker (Trevor St. John), and had two different versions in her mind of what actually happened. Traci enlightens Alan that Ashley has been having personality shifts from being assertive, to child-like, to taking tequila shots and having a good ole’ time. In addition, that Ashley is having blackouts with chunks of time gone from her memory.  Traci goes on to say that Billy (Jason Thompson) said he once experienced something like this himself with a personality splinter.

Photo: JPI

Traci is hoping Alan can talk to Ashley and insist she undergo treatment. Alan firmly explains that he can’t treat her himself, but he will see what he can do.

When Ashley, now as her alter Belle, comes to the Abbott home after chatting with Diane (Susan Walters) at Crimson Lights, she is thrilled to see her old friend, Alan. Eventually, the two head to Society where a concerned Abby (Melissa Ordway) pours them some champagne.

Photo: JPI

The two talk about Paris as Belle flirts with Alan. She then wonders if he is in town to probe her innermost thoughts. She tells Alan that her family has decided there’s something wrong with her. Alan assures Ashley that he cannot treat her as a patient in the U.S. as he is retired and does not have a license to practice in the states. Alan said he is concerned for her, but would never treat a friend.

Photo: JPI

Belle tells Alan, “The rumors about my mental breakdown are highly exaggerated.” Belle speaks to the other alters, and thinks Alan is the perfect solution for Ashley. She says, “Time for some joie de vivre.”

What did you think of Christopher Cousins in his new role as Alan Laurent? Will Ashley’s alters get Alan in bed with her? Will she set him up for something more devious? Will Alan figure out what is going on with Ashley and pretend to just be her friend, while somehow treating her multiple personality disorder? Let us know in the comment section below.

AMERICAN IDOL: Katy Perry Makes a Heartbreaking Decision as Top 7 are Revealed

It was dramatic American Idol on Monday night. The episode marked the return of the “Judges Song Contest”, where Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie each serve up a song choice for the contestant to sing, and they must choose one and then figure out who recommended that song choice.

As in the past, when it got down to the bottom two from the at-home voting, the judge who scored the most picks of their song choices by the contestants, was in the drivers seat and could ultimately save one of the two performers to sing another day.

After a night of sterling musical performances by Jack Blocker performing Willie Nelson’s Always On My Mind, Abi Carter doing her rendition of Evanescence’s Bring Me to Life, and Emmy Russell performing her grandmother Loretta Lynn’s classic, Coal Miner’s Daughter, the following were safe after the nationwide vote.

Photo: ABC

The aforementioned, Blocker, Russell and Carter, plus Will Moseley, Triston Harper, and Julia Gagnon. However, that left McKenna Faith Breinholt and Kaibrienne in the bottom two. At that point, Katy Perry conferred with her co-judges and announced with tears in her eyes, in an almost impossible choice for her, to save Breinholt, thus Kaibrienne’s run on ‘Idol’ came to an end.

Photo: ABC

The episode also welcomed back former Idol contestants Danny Gokey, Melinda Doolittle and Colton Dixon for a performance of “Shackles,” in honor of former Idol contestant, Gospel artist, and Grammy-winner, Mandisa who passed away earlier this month at 47.

Photo: ABC

So, did America get the Top 7 right? Did Katy do right by keeping McKenna for the Top 7 and sending Kabrienne home given her choices? Are there too many country artist contestants left in the mix? Share your thoughts via the comment section below. But first watch what happens when the final 7 are whittled down and Katy’s anguised decision.
