Y&R and B&B Post Strong Christmas Week With Largest Audiences In Nearly A Year!

Courtesy/CBS

Christmastime was a good time to be checking out CBS Daytime’s The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, apparently.

According to a press release from CBS: “For the week ending December 29th, Y&R delivered 4.80 million viewers, its largest weekly audience in nearly a year (since week of Jan. 6, 2017). The daytime series, currently in its 44th season, began its winning streak (29 consecutive years as daytime’s #1 drama) the week of Dec. 26, 1988.”  In story for the week, Y&R featured a special Christmas episode,  Victor and Nikki renewing their wedding vows, and Nick stumbling upon Scott and Abby in a lip-lock

Over at The Bold and the Beautiful, they “delivered  3.77 million viewers for the week, its largest audience since the week ending Feb. 17, 2017.”  In story for the week:  Steffy learned Liam is the bio-dad of her unborn baby, which would eventually the next week cause major shake-ups in their marriage, and Brooke asked Thorne to move out of the house because of her engagement to Ridge, and not wanting to rock the boat.

The numbers are sourced from Nielsen: Live Plus Same Day Ratings.

So what did you think of Y&R and B&B during Christmas week? Was it must-watch soap? Comment below!

I just think students home, etc. People home. Young folks are not big on recording, they just sit down and relax. Slight bump for those reasons. I still don’t see a large number being so enthralled that they start recording.

NO ONE under the age of 50 watches soap operas, taped or otherwise.

Yes, they do. Talk to my nieces, they will set you straight!

Really, me? My oh my, I guess I’m supposed to stop watching DAYS for three more years and then start watching again…

Well, I must be weird, then….and su0000 and a few more who are under 50…40 even.
I just turned 31 and I’ve been watching since nursery school.
I think any mother who is home with young children watches soaps….when I sub, I record….I record, regardless.

Except, they do. As someone who is 25 years of age, I can boldly say you are dead wrong “me,” and happen to know of others who do, as well.

I’m way under 50, and I watch GH everyday. The main reason is because it is on hulu and is therefore easier to watch than the other three.

Um, excuse me? I’m several years south of 50 and I tape and watch Y&R and DOOL every day.

I have a relative way under 50 who watches GH everyday….

Ha ha! Forever Days, THAT was funny!!!

The AARP hasnt found me yet and I watch every day !!

Nielsen can shut down their ratings business now!

I’m a 25 year old male and watch Days. So do my 27 and 31 year old friends!

Y&R had the best Christmas episode. I especially liked Nikki Newman’s segment. The only one I didn’t love was the segment with Phyllis and Billy. I really don’t want to see him again in his underwear, and we know that they have a lot of sex, we get it, we’re good with it…let’s move on.

Yeeeessss! You go Y&R!!!!!! Weed out the silly and fluff, and bring in the mystery, the love, the humor, the witticism, the suspense…..it’s what you do best. I am beginning to see a REVIVAL. Wake up!!

Sorry…accidentally pressed ‘submit’…..
I wanted to say that, I think, Graham had something to do with Christian’s disappearance. ….
Plus, he is messing with Dina’s mind, somehow. He is all-over this; I’m sure. To what end? Her money? But, how will he do that? Whisk her away when no one’s looking? At a facility ?
He’s already spying on them.

You were right about Graham being involved with the Christian disappearance. Good call.
I may be in the minority but I really like Graham. There’s something kind of interesting about this actor. I appreciated his bemused smile after the Tabby and Sharon cat fight ended.
I get why Dina likes him as I can only imagine he’s a lot of fun with whom to gossip.
He strikes me as the type who says,”If you don’t have anything nice to say about anyone, come sit next to me.”

I’m a Graham fan!!
Luvin that guy !

I want Graham to take Jack down
I want Jack to take Ashly down
I want Billy to take down Cane
I want Abby and Scott to get it on
I want Nick to know Christian isn’t his son
I want Dina to be around forever
I want I want Graham and Dina to kick azz!
and most of all-
I want crazy Sharon to feel the pain, I want her heart and mind to bleed, I want her to have a breakdown, I want her to be taken away in a straight jacket and be committed for life.. heh!

Dear Suoo. I agree with your litany of Y&R wishes except for the one involving Sharon. I have loved and rooted for Sharon since she showed up at the Newman Fourth of July pool party and Nikki and Victoria turned their noses up at her and treated her worse than the hired help.
I loved what Sharon said to Abby. If I recall, she called her a “spoiled, self-entitled bitch” who needs to grow up. In fact, the slapping wasn’t necessary as those words must have stung more than physical violence. I hate Abby, but I think I hate Spot more. What a useless, spineless poser!
But back to Graham, I know he’s a villain and we’re not supposed to like him but he’s great fun. I think that’s why Dina likes his company. She’s tired of everyone tip toeing around her. Did you see her light up like the nearby Christmas Tree when Gloria traded insults with her? Dina is a mischievous delight.

hey Harry!
I am luvin’ Graham!! He is the total package, I’m happy dancing that he has returned !
Dina is a treasure, it’s a dahamed shame we will lose her, that’s just not right.
I hope she gets some type of meds that will keep her with us for years!

0hhh boyee! we will have to disagree about Sharon, I can bearly stomach her but, she’s not real so we’re cool LOL 🙂

I’m liking Y&R better than GH ..
Only thing I’ve enjoyed with GH was Valentin and Cassandra.
so sick of Jason stuff, nuff is nuff of that guessing game.
I’m looking forward to Andrew finding his life and can only hope it will be an exciting journey!..

hi Ms Celia ..
I’m rooting for Graham!
If he were to get Dina’s money I’m good with it..
He gave Dina happiness and took excellent care of her, she adores him.
Jack and Ashely have more than enough money and Graham has done better with Dina than they ever have.
Dina absolutely lights up when Graham is with her.

@su0000
Oh, my SuzieQ….you must be having a grand ole Happy New Year!!!! LOLOLOLOL…..CHEERS!!!
You have a way about you….crack me up.
Much of what you WANT will probably happen. But, please, my friend…hands off Sharon.
Oh, lest I forget….how do you propose Graham and Dina to kick azz?? Dina is living on the “3rd rock from the sun” ( serious stuff–hearbreaking to watch), Graham is taking advantage of that fact. Most people would find that loathesome, su…..I know, it’s a doap…..and, you do make me laugh; more than I should allow myself to do, in this circumstance.
Graham is a true soap villain—-I do love villains and villainesses—just depends on who it is!!!
No to Graham, but yes to Faison——Graham is too smooth; he elicits anger, not mirth. Big difference.
Vivian (Days) is a real BAD girl, but I adore her… know what I mean?
Keep writing, su….love it!!

@Harry.
Hello, there, Harry…
…long time…
Graham, as I said to su, is the impeccable soap-fiend….he is that!! No two ways about it. His acting is superb….but, I was never into guys ( boys, men) whose every hair is in place; who looks starched from head to toe….. he is just too perfect…a manniquin strsight out of a most popular Haberdashery…… ALL THE TIME!! I wonder if he goes to bed with a suit on!!
Kudos to this actor ( forgot his name)….. as I say often enough…..any actor/actress who can draw every nerve in by body to protest with disdain, goes above and beyond my expectations.

su000 I like the way you think.
I agree with everything you said.
I know a lot of people don’t like Abby and Scott together but I’m a fan.
Sharon has been around the block many times. Scott seems a little bit innocent.
Honestly who hasn’t been torn between to lovers.
As far as Graham goes he is creepy good. Hope he hangs around for a while.

@Karen.
Hi, Karen,
I saw Scott’s and Abby’s attraction since day one. I said as much to Timmm, way back when……there was just too much sexual tension between them. I never liked him with Sharon…..but, that’s not the point.
Scott is too old to be confused about his feelings for any woman. I am a Sharon fan. I was very young…..but I have been a fan since her Hight School days with Nick….of course, they were both in their twenties, in High School, LOL….but, hey, it’s a soap.
Scott has been using both of them, in a most despicable way. ….everyone on these soaps have been around the block…..it is what it is.
Sharon has been around the block through no fault of hers. She has been very unlucky in love and life…..The Newmans treated her like a leper….
……Nikki, with her nose up in the air was the worst!! She should talk.
Abby is just a spoiled brat, who has always been the type to steal other women’s men….it’s a well-known fact. Yet, I do love Abby……I must say, though, I am so glad this happened because it leaves the door open for Nick….Now, all there needs to happen is for Nick to wake up and smell the Sea-Shell….the sea breeze is a balm to the mind and body….a restorative. LOL.

@su0000.
Hey, my friend……can’t argue with that. “Polished” , suave, Graham has brought happiness into Dina’s life.
That’s all that matters….when you put it that way.
However, this goes beyond money, I think. Graham is a lost soul with vengeance and retribution in his distorted way of looking at the Abbotts.
He has probably felt cheated all his life, being under his own mother’s influence of rancor towards her husband…..specifically against Dina, the “other” woman. ….not the Abbott children’s fault, albeit I can’t stomach Jack. He desrves everything he gets. To me, Jack will always be a fiend…..will never forget how he treated people…..still does….especially, as my Gran says, what he did to Patty. The same goes for Lauren….she was a bad girl for sooo long…..long-time watchers, such as my grandmother, have looong memories. She’s my most reliable source. And, she doesn’t mince words. At 77, she’s entitled to say whatever she wants……LOL.
But, the step-father-tennis-pro ( can’t think of his name) was just that……his step-father with no ‘attachments’ to Graham…..where’s his real father?
I guess I am looking at it from a different perspective….yet, you make an excellent point, SuzieQ.

@su0000.
Correction: “everyone HAS been around the block”….
also, I wanted to add that Graham cannot be thinking with a full deck. What person in his right mind, locks a member of that household out?
And, why didn’t Tracy call the cops? And why did she answer the door without checking to see who was at the door? And, why, with such an estate ….big house with many entrances, I assume, they do not have a security alarm system? Most people keep the alarm on “STAY”…. LOL.
I think we all knew Graham’s absence was temporary. I can’t say I am not glad to see him, because I am. I do agree that Y&R needs an honest-to-goodness baddie…..been too long…Zack and his baby face, just didn’t cut it for me. Graham fits all that makes a soap-baddie.

Well, Suoo and Celia, now that I know I am posting with a bunch of young whippersnappers, I must preface many of my remarks with,”This is before your time but…..
Graham reminds me of someone you would see on Dynasty. I can fully see him hanging out with Alexis Carrington, sipping champagne on the Rivera.
The subject of Alzheimer’s is a serious one and I think it must be challenging for the soap writers to address the seriousness of this tragic disease while adhering to an entertaining storyboard. How to inject fun into this very sad subject? I think the answer lies with the talented actress who plays Dina–she is an utter sparkling delight. I think there’s something to this Graham fellow, some say he’s a terrible actor but I am not so sure. In real life there are con artists like Graham who prey on seniors suffering from dementia. Graham shouldn’t be so entertaining, but he is. I am sure this a cake walk of trepidation for the writers and actors but they have handled this complex subject quite well.

With Graham off camera for the past month or so. I was hoping for a recast. The actor is too weak for the part! Also, I bet him and Dina are married!

Hmmm, T. What a thought !!!!! I wonder…..If that were to be the case, though, why would Graham take such drastic measures? He would just show a marriage certificate, which would automatically give him the right to ‘take’ Dina….it’s a soap, I guess. Anything goes.
Although I knew Graham was coming back, since he left so abruptly, with his tail tucked between his legs, I am puzzled as to why now?? I did not expect him to return so soon….
I think there’s a lot more going on where Graham is concerned….and, you may be right. They could be married and Graham has his own nefarious reasons for keeping it to himself.

OMG, T……hats off to you!! I bow before you, in all humility. You called it; Graham and Dina are married. Hope it’s invalid….should have left the disclosure as Friday’s cliffhanger!!

Y&R, not shocked. I like what Mal Young is doing. Some dont. I guess no matter who is at the helm, some will never be happy! I like that he is mixing in old history with new production ideas. JT and Billy at the bar yapping about each others history was helpful and great! The trio of Billy, Cane and JT at Chancellor will be awesome! Dina is stealing every scene! Jack and Ashley are clawing! Sharon, Mal is not making her weak and needy. She found out about Skunk and Shabby’s affair awfully quick instead of dragging it on and on! Y&R is cruising now. Need to drain the show of Devon, Tessa and Scott and replace them with Daniel, Mac and Kevin!

THANK YOU, TIMMM! We so need Kevin back, as his radiant short-run episodes proved. And bringing classic characters like Daniel and Mackenzie back would be most welcome. What about Nina? And if they insist on keeping Scott, please recast! How realistic is it that not one, but two beautiful and intelligent women are fighting over that tool? Was Blair Redford busy? Or how about Rob Scott Wilson from DOOL? They’d be worth fighting over!

I agree, if the keep Scott, how about someone believable to fight over! And Newman Enterprises, it doesnt have a salon in the building? Scott and Reed, step up!

Is it me? Or does it just seem like Spot the dog is just looking for a place to live? Sharon kicks out his free loading ass out and he’s suddenly at Tabby the cat’s doorstep. Then Tabby kicks him to the curb and he shows up in her car.
Spot has turned into an enormous freeloading pest. Any mystique or appeal he may have had has been obliterated.

And PS–it suddenly occurred to me that both Sharon and Tabby are channeling their inner Lady Macbeth when they say,”Out damn Spot!”

Blair Redford is on The Gifted

what is the brand name and color of lipstick abbey is wearing today (1/5/2018)??????????

I think it’s Pretty in Pink for Mouth breathers.

“Scott is Not Hot” by L’Oreal!

Loving both Y&R and B&B at this point. Loved the Y&R Xmas show. I agree with Dr. Helen Riuth. The less we see of Billy in his underwear the better. But I thought his present to Phyllis was cute. I am wondering how long Hillary is going to try to be civilized before she goes backwards again. Loved the cat fight between Sharon and Abby. We were long overdue for one of those. Well Scott got what he deserved when Sharon and Abby kicked him to the curb. I have a feeling that pretty soon the truth about Christian is going to come out. Nick is overdue to have his heart broken again. I just hope they don’t stick him with Sharon again. B&B is starting to pick up again as well. The actors involved In the Steffy, Liam, Bill storyline are really bringing their “A” game. I dying to see how this is going to play out. I really hope they don’t plan on a Katie Thorne pairing anytime soon. I like her with Wyatt. We’ll see what happens when Hope comes back. I am wondering if Maya and Carter are going to start In. And rather than replacing Zendye, have her start in with Rick. I miss the Avant family. I guess time will tell

I meant to say have Nicole start in with Rick

no for that

Yes, Soapqueenforever……I’d like to repeat what I had posted months and months ago. It is true that, as far as we know, Christian is Adam’s son….and, because of Victor’s apparent manipulation of bloodwork, Nick thinks the boy is his.
Well, I may be wrong, but, I have always had doubts about that…..firstly, I do not trust Victor….his word has always been questionable, in all things. Secondly, I believe there was no switch. When Nick finds out about Chelsea’s part in the deception, he will have an independent DNA test done which will prove the baby is, indeed, his own.
Furthermore, hope of all hopes……he will leave Shell-Sea by the Sea-Shore…….wave by wave ….wave good-bye, Shell-Sea!!

I DO NOT care for Mal Young and what he is doing to Y&R…I know I have said it many times but it’s no longer the Y&R that long time fans fell in love with…I don’t feel the character’s like they were back in days when Bill Bell, Kay Alden and Sally wrote…I know a lot of people complained about Sally along with Maria Arena Bell, Charles Pratt Jr, Jill Farren Phelps, etc but I don’t care for this day to day stories which fills choppy and not getting the feel of the character’s…I know that we cannot make everyone happy…I am liking B&B but I wish that B&B would be expanded to an hour with more character’s and I feel the character’s/drama with these emotional storylines and YES I KNOW it’s the same with Steffy, Liam, Bill but the character driven stories along with the superb acting is rich and what Y&R USE TO BE…

Kevin , hi ..
We are the opposite.
I am lovin’ Y&R!!
The refresh new opening is great.
I’m into the takedowns, the characters have finally become alive !

Unlike GH. Y&R gives me someone to cheer on to the win.

For the second time ever–
Y&R is much better than GH.
GH is stale/blah it sucks it’s boring it’s stale and I’m tired of the no action no drama no thrills no adventure no intrigue no excitement guessing games.

su0000…AW, HELL YEAH!!!!! More and more, I am finding Graham to be BEYOND ENTERTAINING!!!!! Y&R needs to put Max Shippee (Graham) ON CONTRACT…ASAP!!!!!

Later.

Graham is kind of a throw back to the campy soaps of the 80s. Really, if I went to a wedding reception and wanted to gossip about the guests, Graham is the person I would want to sit next to. Love him, he’s a breath of fresh air when contrasted next to the joyless Jack and Ashely.

Just to mention–
I saw Max Shippee shirtless and he is awesome!
Handsome, great body, enticing eyes and a wild smile I like looking at him lol
and luvin his characters personality..

thing is; If he’s not related to an Abbot or Newman his stay will be short 🙁
with Y&R new characters are always disposable..

You go su!! You go Y&R!! Forever!!

I’m enjoying it most of the time.

I cannot believe it!!!!! I was totally enjoying the confrontation/catfight between Sharon and Abby (GO SHARON…GO!!!!!). Then, the show had to ruin it by stupidly tacking on that “Help!!!!! My child is missing!!!!!” stuff. STUPID IMBECILES!!!!!

Later.

HA!!! Jaybird, did you get to see the bemused smile on Graham’s face after the cat fight ended?

Harry…y-e-p…I sure did. l-o-l.

Jay, soap, or not, my friend……you’d be surprised how many ditzy mothers, yapping their mouths off about whose fake nails are more sparkly, lose their kids…..sad and a shame.
The point is; Chelsea should have neven taken her eyes off the boy, nor turned her back on those kids. True life experiences happened right before our eyes.
Good for TPTB to bring out the importance of being aware of our surroundings, especially keeping the reins on our kids.

Celia…well…you do have a point…a very, very good point.

Later, my friend.

Can’t believe, both shows are horrendously boring !

your opinion

Both shows are down from 2016 levels by substantial numbers. The only uptick is from week-to-week, which is lame. Y&R isn’t growing audience. The storylines are languishingly boring and there’s no one to root for. When Nick turned on Chelsea when Christian turned up missing, you know that horrid relationship won’t last. Jill does a holiday drive-by and the rest of it is lame Cane & Lilly garbage. Oh yeah, there’s the Dina Alzheimer’s nightmare too. Can someone at CBS please stop this trash?

I love seeing the children, and that they are the same actors.

Everything is in a mix up now. Guess I will await a wake up.

The Scott /Sharon relationship interests me because he said, once, when Sharon’s age was mentioned as a potential negative, Scott, without hesitation, said “don’t go there.”

I am one who remains befuddled as to how Christian became potentially Adam’s child. It seemed one day Victor had news no one else had and the possibility has become almost certain.

Over the years, comfort in watching has been that the writers appeared to allow one couple to cement the program. The rest of Genoa City can be crazy and fun for us, but something must be solid.

I recall Dina transfer all of her stock to one rather chancy issue. No idea how Graham will interject back into this Alzheimer’s play, but don’t fool with this. Abbot’s may have ton’s of money, but should the storyline not make clear that for most of us the possibility and even probability of bankruptcy exists.

I find Y&R to be a complete bore these days with the “one episode equals one day” format, the lack of any couple worth rooting for, and the absence of anything resembling a storyline.

Dina’s Alzheimer’s could have been a really important story which educated and entertained viewers but instead seems to be either played for laughs with her catty one-liners or used as an excuse for her to commit a crime when the show needs a goose to wake up viewers. Other than that, what do we have? Jack and Ashley’s fight for control of Jabot which is basically nothing more than the two of them throwing insults about her paternity. Nick hanging out at the penthouse being handsome and grousing about his mother reconciling with his father. Chelsea designing culottes for a new line at Fenmore’s. Devon signing new artists for his on-line streaming service off-camera. Cane running a multi-million dollar corporation from his sofa because the show doesn’t have a Chancellor Industries set. Billy and Phyllis sharing an apartment. Hilary getting a case of baby rabies after holding Sam. Nikki buying a park. Two women fighting over Scott of all people. Mariah being a chaste lesbian who really loves coffee.

With all this excitement in Genoa City, I’m guessing the plots to watch for February sweeps will be Mariah deciding to switch to decaf and whether or not Chelsea will pair pleated culottes with a crop top tee and some kicky slingbacks for the Fenmore’s spring line or if she’ll throw everyone for a curve by introducing Palazzo pants to the line at the last minute…

This is the best, pointed, funny response I have read in a long time! Thank you for such a breath of fresh air and telling it like it is, as I always see through the juvenile storylines and high school creative writing dialogue.

I experienced the effects of Alzheimer’s on a family and hope I never go through what my dad did when my grandfather had it. Bill Bell would have educated his audience with accuracy, patient storytelling and pathos.

I continue to believe Y and R missed a golden opportunity after Kay Chancellor’s death: put Jill through the very ordeal Jill put Catherine through by having some young girl steal away her husband, etc.

I also think Y and R missed the chance (maybe it can be done) by having Graham and Ashley be related. I thought I read somewhere Graham (the actor) did study Shakespearean acting. I like the guy’s work.

Ron, I so appreciate you for you get along with Alan about what Y&R use to be and should be like…Of all the years that I have been watching daytime dramas the 3 that I have been passionate about were Y&R, Guiding Light during the Douglas Marland years which was a short 3 years, Douglas did such an excellent job of writing Guiding Light and DOOL during the 70’s and 80’s…But Y&R was excellent for so many years while Bill Bell and Kay Alden were the head writer’s…The glory days of our soaps I don’t think will ever be back…I am liking B&B, GH and DOOL but here I go again, I so wish Ken Corday would hire Marty Davich back to handle DOOL background music, what they are using now is so distracting and does not fit the storylines and it’s actually annoying because of it…DOOL I believe has the worst background music now of any soap in history and I believe Ken Corday is actually handling the music it’s horrible, just my opinion…

I agree with you about Bill Bell but times change, maybe he would have, as well?

They screwed up the whole Jeanne Cooper death situation. #1, they should have reasted the part. Tall task but the show should always come before the actor. #2 Devon gets 2 billion dollars? He couldnt even run a Dominos pizza shop! He sucks! #3 Tucker and Mac should have resurfaced and fought for Chancellor!

Ron, how about Graham and Ashley NOT being related and Ashley takes his side over Jacks in regard to Dina’s care and Graham and Ashley fall in love!

You go Alan, I so agree with you…Y&R is not what us long time viewers fell in love with and watched for many years. Kay Alden and the behind the scene staff was let go in 2006 then Y&R was broken and I will keep saying this for it’s the truth…Y&R is NOT THE SAME…

Alan, Y&R has its moments. I think they are doing a fine job with Dina. It is too early in the story not to have some silliness. Reality will set in and pain will follow.

I laugh at your comment about Cane. I was thinking of the same thing. Is Chancellor Industries going to be ran in the living room with Esther as the maid/secretary? It reminds me of the joke of a set for Brass and Sassy!

February will pick up.

Enough nonsense with no one under 50 watches soaps! 20 and under are a different story they don’t even watch tv. If you are not watching Days right now you are missing out. It is on point in all levels GO RON! I watch all 4 y&r is hit or miss Sharon Case rules B&B Scott Clifton was great but the Steffi does every Spencer is tired. GH is a bore right now and give us Michelle Stafford back. Louise Sorel is gold liking Tyler Christopher Casey Moss needs to be thrown the emmy Keep watching our shows wheher you are 20 or 50

I’ve watched Y&R since the 30-minute days, before the Abbotts and Newmans.
I’d say Mal Young has gotten the closest to returning to Bill Bell’s formula.
Sally and Kay’s returns disappointed. The show was aimless and meandering boredom.
Mal has returned the structured storytelling that was lost around 2006.
My biggest gripe is the undoing of Jill’s maternity. Katherine being Jill’s mother was a logical outcome to breathe new life into a generational feud. If only somehow that could be fixed logically, all would feel right again. Maybe make it so Mac wasn’t Brock’s daughter afterall, and problem solved.
If Ashley Bashioum won’t return, why does it matter? Anyway, MAB messed this up.
History flows while characters drive. Rewriting what we don’t agree with is too jarring and cheapens the credibility of the show. Dead people should stay dead, and unless it’s for a MAJOR story payoff like Jill and Katherine, keep the dna drama to Maury and B&B. It’s lazy and sloppy storytelling.
The exception is, of course, Jill and Katherine. That was a decades long story in the making.
Anyway, the Dina and Abbotts story is golden and beautifully done. It’s heartbreaking while having some moments to lighten the sorrow and giggle about. Nikki and Victor’s tug of war underscored by their being true soulmates has evolved and matured as real couples do.
Wishlist: JILL JILL JILL. Keep Sharon strong and independent. More Mariah. Bitchen Hillary up Omarosa style, and keep Devon loving her anyway. Amp that vixen up ALL THE WAY.
Bring Heather Tom back. Amelia Heinle can go to B&B.
Bring back Brittany and use JT to the max. He’s our hero.
Bring back Michelle Stafford and reunite Phyllis and Nick.
Bring back Justin Hartley and love triangle with Chelsea and Sharon.
Bring back Grace and face her off with Phyllis.
Hookup Ashley with the hot new lawyer.
Nina! Chance! Ronan! Phillip!
Dump Cain.
Lilly plus Daniel take two.
Billy and Mac as Brock’s adopted daughter reunited.
Vicky and JT and Cole triangle
Recast Abby and amp up the quirky and make her Adam’s partner in crime against Nick and Victoria
Give Tracy her guy finally and pair her with Danny.
Pair up Paul and Nina again.
Send Cricket away.
Chloe returns and becomes a permanent thorn in Adam’s side.
Make Jack and Victor accountable for what they did to Patty.
Kyle and Noah return and fall in love.

Are you kidding? Bring back Michael Muhney. His version of Adam was the focus of the Chelsea VS Sharon triangle. Besides, Justin Hartley ain’t comin’ back to a daytime soap. He makes a year’s worth of soap salary in one week on THIS IS US. Reality check time.

General Hospital

Tristan Riggs is General Hospital’s New Aiden

Looks like there is another new actor in the younger set on General Hospital. Tristan Riggs is taking over the role of Elizabeth Webber’s (Rebecca Herbst) son, Aiden.

Previously, Enzo De Angelis played the part of Liz and Lucky’s (formerly Jonathan Jackson) son since 2021. Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Riggs is now firmly in the part.

The switch happened on today’s Thursday May 2nd episode in scenes. Recently, Aiden came out as gay to him mom after admitting his interest in one of his classmates.

Photo: ABC

As Riggs begins in the part, it looks like Aiden is being bullied at school. Elizabeth is trying to get to the bottom of things and made an appointment with school counselors to find out what’s going on, after seeing his book bag had pink paint on it.

Riggs has been acting since he was 7-year-0ld and has appeared on the TV series Walker, True Lies and Best Foot Forward to name a few.

So, what do you think of Tristan Riggs as the new Aiden? Do you hope Aiden’s story becomes more front and center? Comment below.

(WATCH) B&B’s Katherine Kelly Lang and Annika Noelle Talk Lead Actress Emmy Nominations and Brooke and Hope’s Mother/Daughter Relationship

Two of The Bold and the Beautiful’s leading ladies, Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) and Annika Noelle (Hope), are in the running for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series at the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Original series star Lang, along with Noelle, play mother and daughter on the series, which makes for an interesting dynamic on-screen and off. For Katherine, this marks her fourth Daytime Emmy Acting nomination. She previously won a producer Emmy for Venice the Series, and for Annika, this is her first Lead Actress nomination after previously scoring a nod in the Supporting Actress category.

On B&B, Brooke and Hope have had a rocky road this past year, with Brooke disapproving of Hope giving into her feelings and desires for Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), and the dissolution of her marriage to Liam (Scott Clifton). Meanwhile, Hope watched Brooke have marital troubles with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), in part to Taylor (Krista Allen), only for her to win him back.

Photo: HutchinsPhoto

The two actresses chatted with Michael Fairman for an exclusive livestream interview this week on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel where they shared their thoughts, reactions and scenes from their nominated reels, how they see the current climate between Brooke and Hope, and much more. Below are some excerpts from the conversation.

Katherine, what are your thoughts on getting a Lead Actress nomination as this point in your career?

KATHERINE: I think it’s great. I was so happy to be nominated. It was unexpected, but I was really happy about it.  Of course, I think everybody wants to be nominated, or get an Emmy at some point in their life, especially if they’ve been on a show for a very long time and you put a lot of work in. You do many, many scenes and hopefully, good enough scenes to be able to be nominated, and get in into the running. But yes, it’s hard to me. It’s hard every time when it comes around. I get anxiety whenever Emmy-time comes around.

What scenes were on both of your nominated reels?

KATHERINE: I just submitted the two back to back shows that I had between Brooke and Taylor (Krista Allen). It was when their relationship came to an end because they became friends, which was really nice. They swore off Ridge, which was great, and they had a nice relationship for a little while. But then, Brooke finally realized Taylor still had her sights on Ridge and this wasn’t going to work. So, she ended the relationship with Taylor. At that point, she really had it with Taylor, because she really trusted her and she really liked their friendship. She was shocked to find out what Taylor was still doing and how she still wanted Ridge in the end. And so for Brooke, there was no going back after that.

ANNIKA: My reel launched into Hope’s denial of “I’m nothing like you, mom. I have a solid marriage.” Cut to Liam confronting her about what happened in Rome and the choices that were made there. And then Brooke walking in on her and Thomas together and mother/daughter going toe to toe, and then finally kind of wrapping it up with Hope just coming into her own and just not being so swayed by other people’s choices.

Is it difficult for you to chose to enter into the Daytime Emmy race?

KATHERINE: I don’t want to do a competition, because we do this for a living, because we love it. I think if you don’t love it, you won’t be here for very long. So, it just feels weird in a way that it has to be a judging where everybody’s judged against each other.  I don’t like that feeling because I like it all to be about family, which it is. Sometimes in a competition it can get kind of of strange. So to me, the prize is just coming to work every single day, getting to work with wonderful people like Annika, everybody in the office, the producers, the writers, the directors, the crew, and just working with everybody. It’s wonderful how we all work so well together and just being able to do something that I love to do every single day and play this character of Brooke on a TV show on CBS.

ANNIKA: I would have never thought in a million years you would get anxious from it. For me, it’s very obvious that I get very anxious.

Katherine, what do you recall about Annika when you first met her and then shared scenes with her, after having Kim Matula as her predecessor in the part?

KATHERINE: Honestly, it was super easy to work with Annika. She just fell right into the character. I loved her immediately and her energy. Actually, I got to read with her. I loved her, even then in the reading. I was kind of mesmerized with her, like her eyes. She’s very innocent, open face, and you can feel her. I loved Kim Matula, too, who played Hope before Annika, and there was a little time between them. It was nice that they didn’t recast somebody right away, because that’s always kind of shocking. You want to give it a little time, and for the audience to accept it and to find somebody new and bring them on. People come and go andyou have to kind of go with the flow.

Annika, what was your first impression upon meeting Katherine?

ANNIKA: Oh, I understood that this was the legend who had been on the show since the beginning. I think you were my second callback. I think the first one I read with Scott Clifton (Liam). When they called me back again and they had me read with you, I remember I just opened the doors and she was just  standing there. I was like, “Oh, Gosh. Okay. I’m reading with Katherine Kelly Lang.” She was very professional, knew her lines like back and forth, and she was saying the lines as if she was really the character. It wasn’t even like acting. That’s how good she is.

Where do you think Brooke and Hope’s relationship is at now?

ANNIKA: Brooke and Hope have maybe ironed out some misunderstandings. I think there’s still that little bit of Hope’s baggage or just unresolved trauma, or she needs to go see a psychiatrist about not wanting to become like her mother. I think she acted out in a lot of ways within the Thomas storyline.

KATHERINE: Brooke wasn’t happy with Hope and Thomas. She didn’t approve. Brooke’s a little bit more relieved and doesn’t have to deal with that pressure and can get back to the relationship with her daughter. I think they’re really good friends and I think they have a good understanding of each other and their positions within this relationship. I think it’s only going to get stronger and better, when they realize that they are two powerhouses together.

Remember when Brooke and Thomas had their psychedelic berry trip and we didn’t know if they slept together?

ANNIKA: I try not to think about it. (Laughs)

KATHERINE: Well, I loved it! I almost have to say that was my favorite fun story. In it, our plane crashed in the ocean and this was a huge production. They had made a pool inside a hangar, and then the pool was full with broken plane pieces, and we are sputtering up out of the water. It was dark and misty, they had the smoke, everything. It looked like a movie. So, we got to do that which was so much fun. When we were stranded on the island, we actually shot those scenes in Malibu. But, they also made a huge deserted island on set. It was humongous. It almost took up the whole stage, and that’s when Brooke and Thomas were high on berries, and the flowers would come out of the the cave. There were a lot of CGI effects. It was crazy and incredible. Adam Gregory was playing Thomas then, and we had a lot of fun. We never knew if Thomas and Brooke actually did it or not, but then it turned out they didn’t, because they realized it was like something in a dream.

ANNIKA: We like to keep things vague.

The show, at times, likes to pull out the classic line, “Slut from the Valley.” How do you feel about your character being called that when it was originated by Stephanie Forrester, who used to dig at Brooke?

KATHERINE: Do I mind, “Slut from the Valley?” I didn’t mind it when Stephanie (Susan Flannery) would say it, but I kind of mind it when other people say it.  I thought that was Stephanie’s line, and that should just come from her.

Annika, one of the hottest topics on B&B’s fans mind in our live chat, is when Thomas returns from Paris, will he and Hope rekindle their relationship or is it truly over?

ANNIKA: I’m just as in the dark as everyone else about what is to come with that. So, I’m kind of waiting on pins and needles to see if we revisit it, or if Thomas has moved on. I’m just so curious to see what is to come. I think we’re going to find out very soon.
