This week marked the final appearances of Daytime Emmy-winner, Chloe Lanier as Nelle Benson.  As viewers saw, Nelle is going to prison for a laundry list of crimes, but before she left she had a few choice parting words for Carly (Laura Wright), where she tells her nemesis, she hates her and that everything is Carly’s fault. I would watch your back, Carly! You never know if Nelle might break out of a prison and come looking for you!

But no matter what terrible things Nelle did on-screen, Chloe off-screen became such a respected actress and valuable friend, and castmate, to so many actors on the show that they took to their social media accounts to share their sentiments on her departure as she wrapped-up her wildly successful run.

Here is just a sampling below:

Laura Wright: “Ohhh Miss @chloelanier123 I am so honored to have spent the past 2 years playing with you !! You are beautiful- talented – brave – thoughtful-funny – kind ….. the list just goes on……enjoy every second of this crazy journey —absorb every lesson every win and disappointment…. they all have great things to teach you — Now go Kick Ass!!”

Chad Duell (Michael) “Been a great ride with you ! You brought a crazy good spark to the show, and I have really enjoyed working with you! You da best  ..thanks for not killing me.”

Josh Swickard (Chase): “Whether you loved her, or loved to hate her, everyone can agree on this lady’s talent. Thank you for helping me find my footing on this show. You’re a phenomenal person and actress. Sad day on set (except @duelly – what the heck haha). I am a fan of your work @chloelanier123, and I can’t wait to watch your career.”

James Patrick Stuart  (Valentin) “ It wont be the same around here… like, ever again. But how lucky the next place is.”

Steve Burton (Jason):  “We know now how well deserved your Emmy is from watching your performance through out this story. You are a rockstar. You will soar. Continue to work as hard as you do and nothing will stop you. All the best to you -sb”

In the end, Chloe thanked her GH fans: “Thank you to all of my passionate and lovely fans !!! I love you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for helping make the past two years some of the best of my life. Also…Nelle isn’t dead. She isn’t done.”

So, what did you think of the messages posted by Chloe’s castmates?  Sad to see her go?  Comment below.

While I won’t miss all of Nelle’s evil deeds, I’ll sure miss watching a phenomenonal young actress make the most of a great role. Laura Wright is correct in praising Chloe’s bravery. It takes a real commitment to make such a hateful character that believable and pathetic. Hate to say it, but I hope we haven’t seen the very last of her!

Chloe Lanier’ is a treasure of Young talent..
She will go far and up..
We will be seeing her again, where? to be continued.

I liked Chloe Lanier from her very first appearance in Luke’s full-cuticle story, the black & white 50th ..
We all noticed her talent.
It was a very good move to keep her on.

Wish they had brought her in with a less awkward, unbelievable character. I wish her success in a better realized character elsewhere.

She would have been an absolute natural as Val…Given Chloe’s stunning debut as the sweet, beautiful Patricia, casting her as her mother’s lookalike daughter (and conniving homewrecker of a Spencer cousin) would have provided the great drama that this uber-talented actress always delivers! I consider this lack of foresight to be one of GH’s most missed opportunities for creating a successful, enduring and memorable character worthy of the legacy family from which she was conceived.

You bet, su….Chloe certainly has that very elusive IT factor which so many look for and strive to achieve. Wish her the best….

Sick of the sanctimonious Corinthos clan…liked Nelle…hope she returns some day for the baby story when its revealed Brad and Lucas raised her child…

The character was written into a corner, and a lot of her backstory was off-air. I never understood her hatred towards Carly, they weren’t sisters. However, that is just bad story-telling. Although, the character was written into a corner, the actress did a phenomenol job portraying Nelle Benson. I think she will go far in the entertainment industry. Best of luck to her.

dmr, that has always bothered me. I would have loved for that loose end to be tied up. Why did she really hate Carly? With all the bad stuff in that girl’s life, how exactly did Carly figure into it?

Good actress. But happy this story is wrapped up for now.

Yes. I’ll start watching when Genie returns this fall.

Chloe really knocked it out of the park during her exit story. She acts with every part of her body and it’s fascinating to watch her body language and her subtle shifts of facial expression to convey what she is thinking and feeling. Some actors just recite the lines, but she inhabits the character and brings it to life. Kudos also to Laura Wright in their final scenes. It’s so satisfying and entertaining to watch great actors interact. Best of luck to Chloe. It’s been a great ride!

I think Chad Duell said it best; she “brought a crazy good spark” to GH. Best Wishes to Chole on her next adventure. She’ll be missed.

Hate what the writers did with the character during the second half of her run. Nell was a complex character in the begining, she had remorse for what she was doing. Later they wrote her as a murdering psycho looking for a big payday. Easy, lazy writing. But, through her whole run Chloe was compelling and always watchable, well deserving of her Emmy.

Hated her…she was the Best…great acting. Devil with an angel face.

I enjoyed her storyline the last several months–after she really went crazy and turned on Carly. Before that, I had about zero interest in the character.

I’m kind of sad to see Nelle go…only because I LOVED WATCHING Nelle sticking it to that GOD-AWFUL Carly!!!!! Chloe Lanier…GOOD LUCK to you in your future endeavors.

Later.

she actually made me forget genie francis absence and made the show watchable…good bye nelle ,,hello laura

It’s truly a great feeling reading how well these actors/actresses love and respect each other.
It must be tough letting go!!

On the Friday, May 8 Mother’s Day episode of The Price is Right, a retired veteran won over $240,000 in cash and prizes making her takeaway the largest prize ever won in a single pricing game in the 54-year history of the daytime version of the CBS game show.

The contestant, “Vanesa from Virginia” bested the previous record of $210,000 in a single pricing game of Cliffhangers set over a decade ago in 2016. The moment occurred when Vanesa played “The Lion’s Share,” the new high,” the new high-stakes branded game that debuted this season through a partnership with BetMGM.

In the game, contestants have to guess the prices of grocery items to earn up to five balls. Each ball is then dropped into a wind tunnel, revealing a hidden prize amount. After each reveal, contestants face a tense decision to walk away with their current winnings or risk it all to continue.

BetMGM and Fremantle sealed a multi-year deal last year that lends  The Price is Right and Family Feud intellectual property (IP) rights for slots, table games and non-traditional casino games.

DAYS Lauren Koslow Temporarily Fills-In for Jess Walton as ‘The Young and the Restless’ Jill Abbott

In a ironic twist, Lauren Koslow, who currently plays Kate Roberts on Days of Our Lives is returning to The Young and the Restless to play Jill Abbott while temporarily filling in for Jess Walton. Koslow will appear for five episodes beginning on Thursday, June 25.

Koslow first appeared on The Young and the Restless back in 1984 in what was her first soap opera role when she was cast as Lindsey Wells. Now, she returns decades later subbing for Walton, who due to a scheduling conflict, was was unable to travel to Los Angeles when the storyline called for Jill. The Emmy-winning Walton has played the Jill since 1987 and went on recurring status with the show in 2012. Jess also left Los Angeles to reside in Oregon in 2011.

Making this all the richer was the original Jill played by Brenda Dickson, often shared scenes with Koslow’s Y&R character. Lauren played Lindsey Wells until 1986, before moving over to The Bold and the Beautiful as Margo Lynley. Koslow was B&B’s Margo from 1987–1992, and again in 2002. Then, in 1996, she was cast on Days of Our Lives as Kate Roberts, replacing Deborah Adair, and she has been in Salem ever since. But there’s still another another twist to this casting history. Y&R viewers recall Deborah Adair also played Jill, after Brenda Dickson left in 1980, and following a brief stint by Bond Gideon, before heading to DAYS to originate the role of Kate.

THE DAYS AND Y&R CONNECTION

As soap fans know, Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless are both part of Sony. Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television, while DAYS is owned by Corday Productions and distributed by Sony.

So, having Koslow visit The Young and the Restless to fill in for Jess Walton has nothing to do with her continued role of Kate on DAYS. In fact, a rep for the show shared that her upcoming appearance on Y&R, “does not affect her status with the show in any way.” Recently, Stacy Haiduk reprised her role of Patty Williams on Y&R, even though she is still being seen as Kristen DiMera on DAYS.

In a joint statement offered up to TV Insider, executive producer, Sally McDonald and head writer, Josh Griffith expressed, “We’re extremely grateful to Lauren Koslow for returning to her Y&R roots and temporarily stepping into the role of Jill. We want to extend our sincere thanks to Ken Corday (executive producer) and Noel Maxam (co-executive producer) at Days of Our Lives and Peacock. Their support embodies the collaborative spirit of the daytime television community.”

McDonald and Griffith clarified that Jess Walton is forever their Jill and shared, “Jess Walton is an enduring cornerstone of Y&R. We look forward to welcoming her back to Genoa City as her schedule permits and celebrating her extraordinary 40th anniversary as the iconic Jill Abbott.”

So, what do you think of Days of Our Lives Lauren Koslow stepping in for Jess Walton as Jill Abbott? Excited to see what she does in the role while filling in for the Jess? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

The Young and the Restless has made some key changes behind the scenes with the news on Wednesday, May 6 that Josh Griffith, who has served as the series executive producer and head writer concurrently, has decided to relinquish the production duties of his tenure, and concentrate on just crafting the tales for the citizens of Genoa City.

Sally MacDonald, the longtime Daytime Emmy-winning director of Y&R who was serving as the soap’s co-executive producer, will now be upped to the solo EP of the top-rated daytime drama series.

As first reported by Soap Central, Griffith will continue as Y&R’s head writer in the restructuring, in the position he has held since 2019 with the departure of former EP and head writer, Mal Young.  Soap Opera Digest also confirmed Griffith was stepping down as the soap’s executive producer.

In fact, it was back in August 2018, that the veteran Griffith returned to Y&R as supervising producer. Once, Mal Young departed the show, Griffith became the show’s head writer and co-executive producer with another longtime Y&R behind the scenes veteran in Tony Morina. Later in 2023, when Morina exited the soap, Josh became the sole executive producer.

Throughout his soap opera career, Griffith has written for Santa Barbara, One Life to Live, As the World Turns, General Hospital and Days of our Lives and co-created the defunct Sunset Beach.

MacDonald has been a CBS daytime vet since back in 1983 and joined The Young and the Restless in 1989 as a production supervisor, working her way up to director. The directing team at Y&R that has included MacDonald has won 8 Daytime Emmys along the way and picked up a Directors Guild of America Award.

So, what do you think of Josh Griffith stepping down as executive producer at The Young and the Restless, while keeping his position as head writer? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
