From 2005-2011, the stars of ABC Daytime took the stage at New York City’s Town Hall one night each year for ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares. The evening featured dynamic production numbers, heartfelt ballads and hilarious skits. Now, 10 years after that final performance, the iconic ABC Daytime actors revisit their performances as they help raise money for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the event began in 2005. it was for a one-night benefit concert to celebrate All My Children’s 35th Anniversary. With overwhelming support from fans, the event continued for six more years and included cast members from One Life to Live, General Hospital and co-hosts of The View. Over its seven-year run, ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares raised an incredible $1.85 million.
“This event is truly one of a kind,” Broadway Cares Executive Director Tom Viola said. “We are so thankful to the stars from ABC Daytime for joining us again as we relive moments from this delightful tradition, while helping to provide lifesaving medication, healthy meals and emergency support to those struggling during this ongoing pandemic.”
“It was such an incredible privilege and joy to join my fellow co-stars to perform in the seven ABC Daytime Salutes concerts to benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS,” said former All My Children star Susan Lucci. “There are no fans like ABC Daytime fans. Their love and support continue to astonish us. We can’t wait to share these special performances with them and help raise money for so many in need during this difficult time.”
Lucci also shared her excitement on her Instagram account expressing: “We’re getting the fans and cast back together!!! Join us on Thursday, February 11 at 8pm for “ABC Daytime: Back on Broadway”—a fabulous online event revisiting seven years of singing, dancing and plot twists, featuring your favorite ABC Daytime stars. And it’s all to help Broadway Cares support our friends and neighbors who are struggling during this pandemic. Watch the stream at

Certainly, AMC deserves a 2 hour finale, and I’m thrilled about it. Of course, I’m hoping another network will pick up AMC, but I wonder if this 2 hour finale will be at the expense of OLTL or GH…. Hopefully, not OLTL. And I we need to keep fighting for ABC to sell AMC & OLTL.
I know nobody wants the other two soaps interrupted, but if this is the end let them have the two hours.
They did sell, Prospect Park on line.. I will likely get a subscription if I have to pay for it. I love my soaps. NOT ABC, I am upset that they will get PAID for these two shows when they would just as soon let them die. Too many talk shows, the 2 they are going to replace our soaps with sound DULL/
GREAT NEWS THEY SOLD THEM! On line, but at least they will live on. We may have to subscribe.
i can’t even say anything about a “final” episode without getting very emotional – i have watched amc from the beginning – this is just too much for me – i am just so devastated……………..
I know what you mean Ethel. I’m 82 and have watched it for many years. When I worked I used to tape it. I still tape it and watch it so in the event someone phones me, I don’t miss any of it. But maybe someone will buy its rights and run it on another station. Maybe Carol Burnett (she should be able to do that). Come on Carol do us all a favor.
I stil can’t stomach the thought of “The Chew” premiering September 26! What a horrible mistake ABC is making cancelling AMC and OLTL!!!
I will NEVER watch that.
Ditto. SCREW the CHEW!
I refuse to watch the crap ABC is putting on in place of AMC and OLTL. Every time I hear the commercial for the Chew I want to puke! I hope it falls flat on it’s face and ABC loses a lot of money for their stupidity!!!
This is all so bittersweet for me. I’ve watched this show from the very beginning so even having to discuss it’s Final Days is very difficult for me! I love the nods to the history of the show lately and all the re-appearances of the characters I had come to know and love but I just wish it were under better circumstances! I am STILL hoping aganist hope that somone “Anyone” can rescue my Beloved Pine Valley! It’s been a part of my life for almost ALL of my Life!
I’d rather the show not end at all and air on another network. Maybe others are, but I’m not ready to say goodbye.
Nothing can make the demise of this classic show okay, particularly knowing how ABC could have sold it (and “One Life To Live” ) to Sony. But, a two-hour finale at least shows that to some extent ABC plans to acknowledge the significance of it’s concluding.
I do not want a send off at all, 2 hour or otherwise. This beautiful, iconic show needs to continue, if not on ABC, then somewhere where it will be appreciated and honored.
As fans we’re all still smarting from the sting of cancellation news….this will continue.
A two hour finale – would that be enough to satisfy the appetites of millions of fans with such a long history with this show……doubtful !!!
But as the saying goes ….ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.
Sadly, after 41 years – IT’S ALL TOO SOON !!!!
I’m still heartbroken over this show leaving the air. I am happy to hear we will have 2 hrs to say goodbye. Please tell me that Adam and Brooke will be back as well.
I’ve watched this show since day one……….and a 2 hour finale is OK I guess………..but I don’t want to see it go off the air, so who cares if it’s 2….3 , or 4 hours….it’s all too sad. to even discuss. How can they do this show justice ….how do you end a 41 yr run? Insurmountable sadness……..
JR & ANNIE Miss Broderick, JR & ANNIE! Correct the mistake those showkillers did to them.
I am so happy about this move..well done ABC.
I haven’t watched AMC in 10 years, but I’m watching it now. It’s great they’re bringing back all the old favorites. As for The Chew, I will never watch even one minute of it.
I think all my children should stay on air. If you were selling them to another network like nbc i would be oke with the finale. I Just started watching all my children in 2004 and im really just getting into it. and one life to live. I Think its wrong to cancel to good shows without thinking how the fans would feel. Abc will not be the same without erica cane.
It will be a sad day when “All My Children” ends on September 23rd and my total boycott of ABC Programming begins in protest. So not only am I saying Goodbye to the residents of Pine Valley but I also I say goodbye to ABC and Disney programming! :/
I agree with Mary Lou. There is no legitimate reason for a two hour send off. ABC needs to sell AMC, since they need cash for their reality crap and Katie Couric, to another network or cable station.
They have lost this loyal viewer.
It would take more than a two hour episode to end this 41 year show…more like 41 more years…. If ABC would have the guts to sell the shows they are cancelling then we would all win. Too bad ABC/Disney are cowards.
Please Mrs. Broderick let Jr and Annie reunite back together again. They had such a sad and tragic ending to their relationship. The past six plus months have been so hard to watch with JR trying to get Marrisa back, this was even before MCE left the canvas. It was so disrespectful to the huge Jannie fan base. They deserve to have a happy ending especially since there was such a huge build up to their relationship over the past year. They also make a perfect fit to one another since they accept each other as they are, flaws and… Read more »
It’s like knowing the day & time your loved ones will all die, but you can’t figure out a way to stop it. I just can’t imagine never hearing that theme song cue up again and visiting my lifelong soap friends. I have a full, rich life so don’t think I’m a cat hoarding homebody. Quite the opposite. AMC has just been one constant touchstone in my life, and I will miss it dearly if another company doesn’t pick it up. I will NEVER watch any series that replaces it. Sorry, that time slot is sacred.
I don’t watch AMC or OLTL, only GH. For now GH is okay but for how long? So, I am supporting other soap fans and will never ever watch these new shows, not a minute, NEVER EVER!
I would love to see Annie back, only to get JR away from Marissa. I want Bianca & Marissa together. Also, having gone through the loss of the fan fight for GL, hoping another network would buy the shows once they were cancelled only to have them dashed when there wasn’t any way P&G was selling the soaps. I just don’t think ABC is gonna give up the ‘intellectual’ property rights to a show they’ve owned for 41 years; as much as ABC/Disney don’t care about the soaps anymore, it’s still their copyright material. To the fans it means so… Read more »
Oh, AMC. Despite the outcry of fans, ABC has decided to stick to their decision and say goodbye to this amazing soap. It will be missed. I am thankful for the two hour finale, but wish the show would be allowed to go on for many years to come. Shame on ABC for not listening to their viewers and for not allowing the soap to live on somewhere else. Disappointing.
I haven’t watched AMC consistently…but I will tune in during the last rew weeks and the 2 hour finale. I hope OLTL also gets a 2 hour finale if it does come to an end….I am still praying it will be sold.
I love AMC and Days too,,,,and I’ll be taping this two hours to keep with my Another World tapes and ATWT tapes and put them on DVDs to have for ever….
After fighting every way I can think of–and I still am—I am still so sad and angry over the loss of a show Ihave watched from the beginning. I will watch til the bitter end and I, too, hope to see Brooke and Adam, and J.R. with Annie. I will continue to watch GH, Days, and Y&R. Nothing can take the place of Tad, Jack, Erica , Kendall, etc., but the other soaps have their own core characters, which GH and Days are getting back to. ABC is as dead to me (except for GH) as I apparently am to… Read more »
Good for AMC. Finally, the right way to end. I hope a two hour last episode will be enough to say goodbye, if there is such a thing in the soap world. September will come too soon, I think. I don’t know how all the stars can handle this historic soap wrap up. very sad!…..
jr and annie reunion please
They deserve the two hours and I know it will be a great ending. I have been loving AMC the past few months and it is a shame that it has come to this. The best to all.
This is so sad to me. At 13 years old I started watching AMC and thought it’d be with me for life. Donna Beck and Billy Clyde Tuggle were on then, and Aunt Phoebe was as much the star as Erica was then. At my first Emmys, in 1999, Ruth Warwisck was the only actor I got to meet, and it was an honor. Also, I got to see Susan Lucci finally win her Emmy, which I correctly predicted! If we can’t save AMC, let’s try save OLTL now. AMC deserves all 3 hours to end!
I don’t give a crap whether it’s on for 4 hours that nite, but to end them is just plain horrible to me. I’m very unhappy about it and it’s made me cry plenty.
This will be bittersweet for everyone who loves All My Children. I am really sad and upset to see this awesome soap go. Seriously it makes me forget my own health issues for a while. I will miss everyone on the show yes even dr evil lol. Great job everyone.
2 hours or 8 hours doesn’t matter… All that matters is that it”s ending and that is very sad!!!! After watching for nearly 40 years, it sickens me what ABCD is doing it AMC.. After these 2 hours, I will no longer be watching ABC…
I, like so many others, have watched AMC since the very first day it aired. However, after seeing the flashing scenes of Dixie struggling to awake from yet another “death, ” I am over it. OH! And let’s not forget the lame storyline of :::gasp:::: an Erica twin!!! Puhleeeze!!!! Yeah, even though I watch this show every day, I am MORE than ready to see it go.
Saddened and a bit pissed that I have not been asked to be a part of the send-off. Why not Brian Bodine? Ask TPTB…
Well Matt………..Now that it supposedly is going to continue online………maybe you should contact Prospect Park…….they might very well want the former stars to appear……….we would love you to grace the screen again.
It really stinks that ABC has done this to it’s loyal viewers — I have been watching since Dark Shadows was on since I was about 7. Sad how they pay loyalty. Just sell the rights period to air on TV too. I will watch online but so many can’t. I just hope they promote it on TV for online. They should have it on primetime a couple of weeks and then cont. in online.
It’s the first soap finale to ever be granted extra time… even over GL (longest-running TV Drama EVER at the time) or ATWT (on air for much longer a period of time), so this has to count for something. At any rate, I too do not want to see life in Pine Valley as we know it come to an end. At least some semblance of it will live on in cyberspace, not the ideal, bit it’s a bittersweet victory for those of us who have worked our assets off to save these soaps!
If there is a longer show for the finale….then let it be 3 hours…..OLTL & AMC can take a day off. Lets at least give the actors some respect and appreciation with a proper send-off…..but as I said in my other comment if the show is to continue on the internet WHY is there going to be a finale?
If the show is going to continue online and take up online from its last episode on the network WHY are they having a 2 hour finale?
I’d prefer not to see my Soaps end at all! Why can’t they air on another network? Watching shows on line is inconvenient, AND annoying! Treating loyal fans like this really blows! I have been watching for the entire 40+ years, and it’s depressing that I won’t have AMC & OLTL on a daily basis. It’s great looking forward to each episode, something new every day! ABC: WHY must everything be about money?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WON’T be watching those stupid replacement shows, either! And, when possible, I won’t tune in to ABC at all!
No more ABC for me except my soaps. When they are gone, so am I!!!
This is very sad to me ,this is the only soap opra I watch, have been watching it for 41yrs. so sad,so sad, don’t take my Tad ,Broc, Jessie ,Angie and others off the air .This is the only time I turn my t.v. on ,please dont take it off .What can I do to help you keep it on?
I hope another network takes this wonderful soap, it has given me many years of entertainment all the cast are like my family, and a great escape from everyday problems
I CAN’T BELIEVE 9/23/11 ALL MY FRIENDS WILL DIE. I HAVE WATCHED AMC FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. I WLL NOT WATCH ABC ANYMORE AND IT WILL BE BLOCKED FROM MY TV. ABC WILL LOSE LOTS OF MONEY ON THE CHEW, AS THEY SHOULD. NOBODY WILL WATCH IT, IT’S JUST ANOTHER STUPID REALITY SHOW ABOUT FOOD. ABC HAS MADE A HUGE MISTAKE AND I HOPE EVERYONE WHO IS A FAN OF AMC WILL BE SURE TO TUNE OUT THE CHEW.
I have been watching this show for over 35 years. My older sister got me hooked on it. Its like a part of my life is going to be gone now. I dont understand what Channel 13 is thinking. Disney is making a bad mistake because ratings will go way dow now.
The only two soaps I’ve ever watched are done. 25 yrs of devotion to them and now I’ve got nothing. I guess it’s time to find another hobby.
I luv u and i’m going to miss u.
The last thing that ABC needs is another reality(cooking/lifestyle show). As of monday, no nore ABC for me from 1 to 2 pm. After OLTL goes off in January, I’m gone. ABC stands for Abysmal (broadcasting) Choices. Look out General Hospital, you’re next on the chopping block.
All i can say is WTF?!. It deserved more. Ok, jr pulls the trigger and you don’t know who the bullett hits? This wasn’t the ending i expected. The writers should be hung by their collective brains for this one. AMC deserves more than this for 41 years of being on tv. I known that the show is moving to the net but come on ! Start fresh. I will truly miss all my children. What happened to the 2 hour finale ?
I have to agree what happened to the 2 hour finale? I feel cheated and truly hate ABC, I will never watch ABC again ever!!!!!!
