DAYS Christopher Sean & Hira Ambrosino Talk Narita Family Secrets, PaulSon, Coming Out Scenes & More!

On NBC’s Days of our Lives, Tori Narita (Hira Ambrosino) has come to Salem, and it appears she shares a past with a certain someone! Could that someone be Paul’s (Christopher Sean) father?

The Narita family secrets are set to explode or implode in the weeks ahead, coming right on the heels of the revelation that Paul slept with Will Horton (Guy Wilson)! And due to that one misstep, both men may have lost the love of their lives, Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith)!

Now Sonny has taken a break from Salem to clear his head; following his almost near death experience and reeling from the betrayal of his husband, Will!  When Sonny returns will he try to make his marriage work with Will?  He might not after he finds out how Will and Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) are in collusion to get Paul Narita out of their lives and out of Salem!

On-Air On-Soaps sat down with the mother/son on-screen team of Hira Ambrosino and Christopher Sean for this new video interview. During the conversation, Hira and Christopher weighed-in and shared their thoughts on a myriad of key topics including: the heartbreaking and groundbreaking coming out scenes, where Paul admits to his mother and his grandfather he is gay, that was also dubbed with Japanese sub-titles – a first for daytime.  Plus, what do they think of a desperate Will’s attempts to keep his husband away from Paul, and how that will affect Tori and Paul’s lives forever?  In addition, the duo tease just who might be Paul Narita’s biological father? Is it John Black (Drake Hogestyn) as DAYS fans have suspected … or, is that a red herring and it is truly someone else? Is Tori team PaulSon and going to be supportive of her son and his happiness and he tries to get Sonny back … or is she against it?  Find out in this chitchat with two stars who are quickly becoming more intrinsic to the Salem canvas.

And while Christopher is making temperatures rise on Days of our Lives, he can also be seen this season on CBS’ Hawaii-Five-O where he is playing quite the opposite of Paul Narita … in fact, he is playing quite the bad guy!  Christopher fills us in on pulling double duty on two notable television series.

Watch Christopher and Hira chat with Michael Fairman below! Then share your thoughts: Who do you think is the father of Paul Narita? What do you think about what Will is trying to do to Tori? Are you rooting for PaulSon or WilSon after you have witnessed what has transpired on-screen this week? Comment below!

Super happy with the addition of Paul and Tori to Salem!

I wonder if Paul’s father KNOWS he’s Paul’s FATHER..

Nice interview and nice arms Christopher. Wow!

…if I may…. “nice” every thing

Looks like Christopher is in bulk mode! Would love to see John Black be the father of his character. More than that…. would love for Christopher’s acting to be recognized by the Academy at the next awards show.

John, is Paul’s father. I am almost sure. Why else would Paul’s mother react to John the way she did.
I absolutely love everything about Paul….his looks, his honesty, his character.

I have a deep feeling that Stefno is Pauls father!!

@Shy.
Hmmmm….I didn’t even think about that possibility. Ergo, the reason why Will was asking questions about the DiMera mansion and who lived there at the time.
Good assumption, Shy.

Paul another Dimera???

Yeah, I’m wondering if DAYS is pulling the notorious red-herring thing GH did with who is Fluke by making us all think John is Paul’s daddy.

So, maybe, it’s a character connected to John, what about Roman??? Wasn’t there a whole identity thing (in the 80s/90s) between Roman and John? What if Roman (Will’s grandpa), is Paul’s bio-Dad, maybe, Tori thinks it’s John Black, but it turns out to be Roman!

I just wish i knew who John really is once and for all…after ‘ he is Roman’ then he wasnt…then he is a Priest…an Alamain…a Brady…then not a Brady…i cant recall anymore who John really is…lol…we’ll probably never find out…as for Stephano-he seems to get new children for the next generation every decade-there were Tony and Megan, then adopted Peter and Kristen and bio daughter Lexi, and for todays younger viewers there is now Chad and maybe Paul…instead of another Stephano Dimera child id rather they age his grandchildren…it would be nice if Roman got a storyline of his own and Paul was his or even Abes but Paul could be Johns…however, i think he is a Dimera…maybe Tori recognizes John because off screen John might know her as one of Stephanos many lovers…im not too happy with some newbies but i think Paul and his mother are fine additions to the cast!!!

@JimH and faithful

I have finally relented… Nicole DOES talk too much to herself !

it crossed my mind… with the new regime… ie: head writers and executive producers.. etc….

“Fay IS alive”

she would do wonders for Nicole

as well as: Abe, Roman, Stefano, Victor… heck… even John Black

give Nicole.. a family

give these stalwart mens libido intrigue and va va voom… “I love them”

@ jimh – I would actually LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Wayne Northrop be Paul’s father. He was original Roman, Dr. Alex North, (who I vaguely recall that character), but look wise, I could definitely see Christopher Sean and Wayne Northrop sharing similar facial features. Maybe, Wayne will return for the 50th and reclaim the Roman role or, return as Dr. Alex – which could also explain Tori’s big background check on the doctors who all work at Salem University Hospital. I wonder if also, Serena could be connected to Dr. Alex (in regards to that “research” job she’s been doing at the hospital). I think it would be brilliant to bring back fan-favorite Wayne Northrop as Paul’s dad, either as Roman #1 or Dr. Alex. And, somehow, someway, that mean, mean, mean, mean Stephano DiMera is connected to Wayne’s character.

DAYS bring WAYNE back! Can you imagine that quad-angle for Marlena? John, Roman #2, Roman #1/Dr. Alex (Wayne)

It would be nice if Wayne returned as Roman if he’d want to…then Josh could resume his old Chris K.(cant remember how to spell last name) and Chris could be Rory’s long lost father…tptb should expand Rorys role!!! However, Wayne couldnt be Roman and Pauls father because that would mean Paul slept with his half nephew Will…but Alex North(however, this character was an epic fail) could be Pauls father…this way Serena could also be Alex’s daughter giving Paul a half sister…Alex could turn out to be another son of Stephanos???

i want paulson 🙂

Same here, dana. Love their easy connection.

Even though it will probably come out that John is Paul’s father I think making Lucas the father would be excellent and provide lots of soap drama. Not only would the half brothers have had sex but now Lucas would be torn over which son to support in the Will/Paul/Sonny triangle. We know Lucas has spent a lot of time in Singapore and it would not be a stretch that he & Tori met there or on a trip to Japan.

Although drama wise that sounds interesting, there are two flaws. First the time line is all wrong. Lucas already had Allie went he went to Asia, and she is still a child. If he hooked up with Tori then Paul wouldn’t be as old as he is— plus Lucas had Will when he was in his teens– so he would had to slept with Tori at that time or earlier to make Paul the same age or a bit older than Will, which is highly unlikely. The second flaw is incest even unintentional is taboo on daytime television– the fact Paul did sleep with Will has pretty much rule out any possibility of Lucas being Paul’s father. Your story idea is not PG enough for daytime, but who knows a cable show might do an incest triangle some day.

Actually Sami Brady was the teen parent and not Lucas, when Lucas arrive in Salem he was in either the Navy or national guard and he Lucas was around Carrie Brady age when he first arrive this would have been in the early 1990’s Sami had well in the spring of 1995 while in high school or right after.

Days once was close to an incest storyline in the 1960s…Marie Horton dated Mark Brooks who turned out to be her missing brother Tommy Horton(he was in the war, got new face ect.)…and this is what led her into becoming a nun…but i do doubt they’ll do that with Will and Paul…Days used to be known for its taboo controversial storylines but seems like they fear going there today…its now just musical beds and recycled plots involving the Dimeras…jmo!!!

@Sandy J– Lucas didn’t go to a regular high school Kate had sent him to military school and he had just graduated from there when he came to town. He was never in the navy or the coast guard. Sami was in her early teens, Lucas was in his late teens- twenty at the most.

Am I the ONLY one who thinks the storyline is a bit lame? It’s the typical soap opera “he doesn’t know that so and so is the real father” nonsense that soaps have been doing forever. Plus, I don’t know, I feel the actress who is portraying Paul’s mom is not terribly convincing – then again, the writing is so astonishingly infantile I feel sometimes like a seventh grader wrote it. Is this the BEST they can do? Also, they surely beat a dead horse on this show, how many times do they have to hit you over the head with Will declaring “you slept with my husband” ? Get ON with it already – I’m sorry, I just feel the show is draggy – I know it’s a soap, I know it’s filled to the brim with cliffhangers but even at that they need to pick up the pace.

“… with two stars who are quickly becoming more intrinsic to the Salem canvas. ”

I just love this mother/son duo

I hope… beyond hope… that it’s John Black…

what an explosive storyline… FINALLY

for John and Marlena

this is an exciting times

because the whole cast that surround this story line.. is bringing their A game
and… I guess that has to include Guy Wilson… but the whole story and all the actors are sublime

Don’t tell me–Tori was Stefano’s lover and Paul is his son.

I find the behaviour of Will and Lucas despicable. If Will wants to save his marriage he needs to find some humility while accepting responsibility for what has happened. How dare he threaten to expose Paul’s mom. Lucas needs to mind his own darn business and stay out of this.

Oh you must be new ….Will is acting like he always acted, he blackmailed people before (EJ) so there’s nothing new here … It’s a SOAP goody two shoes are boring! I’m all for a spicier Will 🙂 Lucas needs to mind his own business? Really? I wonder if you were that upset when Adrienne was all up in Sonny’s business …

Uh hardly new. I’m a 50 yr watcher. Will is nothing more than a manchild having a temper tantrum. He isn’t even close to being as conniving as his mother at his age. He is an embarrassment and his father is a close second. Lucas has always been the voice of reason and now he is stooping to a low where he’s never been before. Adrienne has a reputation for minding everyone’s business but her own so I expect it from her.

Gotta agree with you completely, Sheila. Will’s behavior has turned him into a character that I don’t recognize. Where is the Will who everyone described as sweet-natured, charming, with a good heart? This petulant version of Will makes me glad that Chandler left the show, as it would be painful to watch him ruin his portrayal the character in such a manner. (Although, I’d expect Chandler to imbue the same exact scripts with a much fuller sense of meaningfulness, genuineness, and relatability.)

Lucas, however, is true to form. His bulldozer conversation with Paul, taking complete control of the agenda, permitting no conversational deviations, and then summarily dismissing Paul, was exactly like Lucas’s separate conversations with Sonny and Will, when his agenda then was objecting to Sonny was taking advantage of Will’s sexual inexperience.

I loved the interview. Hira and Christopher appears to have natural chemistry. I loved the coming out scenes between Paul, his mother and especially his Grandfather. I to wonder if the writers are fooling us with the possibility of John being Paul”s father? There has to be a reason for to had been so close to the Dimera home in that picture? I don’t think Stefano is the father he already, so many kids over the years.

I hope not… it MUST and should be John Blacks son… as this would give

John and Marlena have a storyline

John and Marlena are alive and well… not without tumultuous behavior

YES !

I loved the scene with Aiden, John, and Paul… as Aiden and John are smitten with Paul… and asking his help in raising money for a little league team to earn monies

you know… it was just inviting… that John… w/ Aiden… are telling Paul… in this town.. with your valiant turn… at coming out.. have even more support than you realize

YES

Kudos

LMAO! I’ll just ditto this whole post and thank you for saving me a lot of typing! I’ve thought for the longest time that John was in boarding school with a baseball scholarship before Stefano kidnapped him and had him take over Roman’s life. We’ve seen John’s pitching arm on screen in the early 90’s so it would explain where Paul got that DNA from. We also don’t know much about John’s life before he showed up in Salem so this is perfect! Ditto on John and Aiden’s scenes too, I was laughing so hard at those two fanboying over Paul, too cute for words! I hope the writers have John and Aiden hang out together more often since John will be Aiden’s son’s coach for little league, I really enjoy their chemistry and John needs more friends! Drake and Daniel are a lot of fun to watch!

IMO Paul’s baseball life is patterned after Drake’s baseball life, difference being Drake isn’t gay and he lost the woman he loved (for a few years) because of baseball whereas Paul lost the man he loved. Drake also coached little league, LOL!

Hi Robert & Patrick,

I too, don’t think that Stefano is the father.

I think it would be so great to have Wayne Northrop return for the 50th or before then, as Roman #1 or, Dr. Alex – and have him be Paul’s dad!
We need a big DAYS vet, Wayne to return for this reveal, and be the father to Paul.
They share lots of facial similarities. More than John (Drake).

The last time we saw Stefano DiMera with a girlfriend on his arm, she was Asian. Perhaps, he’s been attracted to that type for over 20 years.

Has everyone seen Christopher on Hawaii 5-0? He plays Gabriel Waincroft, a criminal who will do anything to get what he wants. The part is so opposite of Paul. It plays both characters so well, which shows what a good actor he is.

he plays the brother of Daniel Dae Kim… a contracted regular

so believable

I didn’t want to acknowledge this… as I so want… him… to stratosphere

hasn’t he tho

and take to Salem

This show really is trying to be “Gays of Our Lives”, isn’t it? Not one, not two, but THREE gay guys tied to a core family now (when we find out John is Paul’s father). Time to bring in a long-lost lesbian daughter for Bo & Hope.

Maybe Paige and Bev will become lesbian lovers! Jordan would have been more interesting as a lesbian…maybe with Abby!!

I’m hoping if Tori admits that John is Paul’s father, she will be able to help John discover his own identity.

I’m liking the mother and son scenes…and the father right around the corner is sure to make the storyline one of the best through the sands of time!

they might as well just go full-fledged gay now and capture the “young and hip” because those are the only viewers they seem to care about anyway.

I think hiring new writers shows they care for all the viewers, including fans of Eric and Nicole.

LOL, I almost forgot they hired new writers! That will help, but we won’t see their stuff air until July at the earliest .. meanwhile, we’re stuck with what has already been taped. And judging by what I’ve been seeing these last several months, there won’t be ANY romance to speak of.

Sorry, but I find her performance is lacking. Please send her away and end this storyline.

I said they were fine additions to the cast but the actress did seem to have some difficulty in her scenes with Will…she was side glancing like she was looking for cue cards(do they still even use them)…on the other hand was the actress really nervous which also helped her performance as she tries to hide her ‘secret’ from Will???

I too found her performance unconvincing and stiff – obviously “the character” is uncomfortable being in Salem but the portrayal just seems too “acted” and lackluster.

“I” am so happy

“Happy”

that a gay feature is televised… “STILL” in this day and age… a realization turns

I know I’ve shared : If I was ever to meet Deidre Hall… i would hug and thank her… and become a blubbering fan

My life is a part of yours

yours has always been in mine

I am a 52 year old man… at last… gay livelihood exists @@@

I was raised by my grandmother… aka: OK.. not unlike… Marlena and Will

my Nonna… loved ME
my Nonna… cared for Me

she was my rock
my salvation
my eternity

she carried me

to see in my life time

certain legislation… giving ME pathways … a walk with

a hand WITH

a like mind to fly

I hope Paul’s father is Stefano or Tony DiMera!

It would be great if Tony had a son…instead of another one for Stephano!!!

jimh, could Tori really be Jasmine… the island girl that Tony fell for when he rescued her on the island after the plane crash in the mid 80’s?

Andre DiMera piloted the plane without the passengers knowing. They were in route to do a tropical photo shoot for Anna DiMera designs. After the plane crashed everyone thought Andre was Tony and Tony was being nursed back to health by Jasmine. Daphne DiMera died from injuries sustained from the plane crash. The other passengers were Bo, Hope, Eugen, Caliope, Liz, Carlo and Anna. Roman showed up because the Island belonged to Stefano and Roman fell off the cliff and was thought to be washed away by the sea. You must remember Roman “dying” in his brother’s arms? Jasmine came back to Salem and became a Model. Tori can really be Jasmine or Jasmine’s sister who adopted Paul.

I was kinda hoping perhaps Peter Blake would be the father– maybe Tori was a housekeeper in the mansion– Ole Pete got her knocked up, but she didn’t want the kid to be related to the Dimeras, so she confided in John who helped her get out the country without them finding out about the baby- that would be good twist and might get Peter Blake back on screen for the 50th. However, John is probably the father I mean they both wear leather jackets and like baseball– who needs a paternity test right? LOL.

So, if Paul is John’s son, then that makes Paul into Brady’s half-brother, and into Victor’s grandson-in-law (?), or is it Victor’s step-grandson?

Since Sonny is Victor’s great-nephew and Paul is something like Victor’s grandson-in-law, does that make Sonny and Paul cousins-in-law, or is it step-cousins? That means that Sonny and Paul are somehow related to each other by marriage.

Likewise, Will’s maternal grandmother Marlena was married to Victor’s son-in-law John, and Will’s paternal grandmother Kate was married to Victor, which makes Will and Sonny somehow related to each other by marriage on both sides of Will’s family.

Furthermore, if Paul is John’s son, and thus somehow related by marriage to Victor, then that also makes Paul related by marriage to Will on both sides of Will’s family in almost the same way that Will is related by marriage to Sonny on both sides of Will’s family.

This stuff hurts my brain.

I’m not certain whether or not ancestry.com would be able to figure out the mess of these fictional families.

They should have a ancestry.com for the soaps. They can call it incestry.com!

I love it!

john and victor are not relatives. john only was in the past with victors daughter i think and they have son brady.

Paul was speaking in Japanese to his grandfather; the subtitles were in English.

I think it’s John Black who is Paul’s father then again Stephano always seems to have his sperm all over the place

Please say John is Paul’s dad, please, please, please! I LOVE the fact the writers seem to be using Drake’s career as a minor league baseball player with the New York Yankees, and including baseball in John’s life once again! I LOVE that John is going to get back into coaching little league and love that Paul’s biggest fan, John, could be his father! John fanboying never gets old, LOL! I’m looking forward to seeing John and Tori share scenes as well as more John and Paul scenes!

Could we please see a 20-minute long interview of Deidre and Drake done by you? Pretty, pretty, pretty please? We barely see them together on screen anymore, their fans need something to hold on to..

I really do like Christopher (Paul), he is an excellent addition to the show, and damn is he sexy as hell. He looks even more buff here, I can’t stop staring at those guns he has. I like the lady who plays his mom also. I really like seeing an asian family on the show and they fit right in. And I love the fact that the gay characters are still front and center. I really hope it stays this way.

Dr Mandrake looks like this wahne you all are speaking of.

Days Of Our Lives

Wally Kurth Talks on His DAYS Daytime Emmy Nomination, His Emotional Scenes, and Remembering John Aniston

During our 2023 year-end honors at Michael Fairman TV, we named Wally Kurth as our pick for Best Overall Performance by an Actor for his double-turn as both Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Justin Kiriakis on Days of our Lives. So, it was absolutely no surprise to us that Wally landed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his riveting work as a grieving Justin in the Supporting Actor category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

On DAYS, Justin had been put through the emotional wringer, of first, losing his beloved Uncle Vic, played by the late John Aniston, and then finding out that Victor was the supposed biological father to Justin’s son, Alex (Rob Scott Wilson). If you didn’t reach for the hankies during some of Kurth’s work in these scenes, we don’t know what will make you do so.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Wally to get his reaction to his fourth Daytime Emmy nomination in the last six years. Kurth was nominated in the Supporting category in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 and Lead Actor in 2021.

In addition, Wally shares what scenes were on his nominated reel, how John Aniston impacted his work, how he has changed as an actor over the years with a new outlook, and being the only actor out there with two long-running roles on two long-running soaps, and much more. Here’s what Wally had to share below.

Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. You decided to submit yourself this year for Emmy contention in both Lead Actor for GH and Supporting Actor at DAYS, correct?

WALLY: I did. I thought the DAYS reel was a little more dramatic, much more emotional. I had thought with the way the judging goes that it might be a little bit more, winnable, if you will. I enjoyed and was proud of my work at General Hospital, so it’s all good. I’m thrilled. It’s always nice to be nominated.

Photo: JPI

What scenes did you ultimately choose for your Supporting Actor reel?

WALLY: I started chronologically, as always, trying to tell a little bit of a story. I actually started with a scene where Justin has to tell Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that Victor’s (the late John Aniston) plane went down and it was not found. Then, the scene with Bonnie (Judi Evans) where I sort of have to let it all out, and grieve the loss of this man who was practically Justin’s father, but it was his Uncle Vic. We have a little scene talking about Victor, and then there is a short snippet at the funeral where Justin eulogizes Victor. Next, we jump to scene where Justin discovers the letter where Angelica admits that indeed Victor is Alex’s father (Rob Scott Wilson). So then, Justin has to tell Alex, and then I also sort of grieve the fact that I’m no longer his father. Justin basically lost his son. It was very dramatic and very emotional. I was guessing the judges would be like, “Hey! Enough with the crying! Stop, you big baby!” But, they didn’t. They must have thought that it was convincing enough that it felt really truthful at how Justin was upset about these two unfortunate realizations.

Photo: JPI

You bring up a really good point. I talk to actors all the time about crying on Emmy reels. Sometimes, many feel it might put voters off. But obviously, this time it worked well for you!

WALLY:  What I liked about the crying scenes was that, like in real life, you’re not crying all the time when something bad is happening, right? I think crying happens and it takes you off guard. It happens without you realizing it. These were all moments when Justin was alone, really. Bonnie comes in the room where Justin is just kind of like dealing with it. And then her coming in, opens up Justin and she is there to hold him. I think that often happens in real life. I thought that was correct for the writers to do that, you know, that Justin would break down when he was alone.

Photo: JPI

Did you feel the pressure of wanting to get these scenes when Victor died and at his memorial, just right due to the enormity to it, and to do justice for John Aniston?

WALLY: I allowed myself to use my heartbreak over John Aniston. I loved him. I just sort of allowed his presence for me in the scenes. It was sweet. It was good for me. I’m just thinking about it now and I feel teary-eyed. John was such a sweet man. He led by example, and he really did teach me how to be a professional actor, and he was a mentor. He never told me anything specific, but he was just John, and in the scenes, this was the time for me tell him how I feel.

Photo: JPI

Then, you had the heartbreaking scenes with Rob Scott Wilson where Justin tells Alex he is not his father!

WALLY:  I thought that was just really challenging material. As I get older, I just trust the material, and don’t get ahead of myself. I trust myself with the emotion. Just let it happen if it happens. When I first read it, I kind of imagined what it could look like and then you just let it unfold from there.

You’ve got Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), A Martinez (Nardo, The Bay), Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) all in your category. Robert has won two Daytime Emmys in a row, last year for Supporting Actor and the year before for Guest Performer.

WALLY:  l love Robert. I worked with the character Marshall on General Hospital, and we had so much fun. He’s a great guy and a really good actor. A Martinez is the best guy ever. I have such admiration for him. Whenever I see him, we always really connect and to be in included with him is great. Bryton James, I don’t know, but I know he beat me in this category in 2020. Mike Manning, I didn’t get the opportunity to know when he was at DAYS as he weren’t in scenes together, but I hear good things about him, too.

Photo: JPI

When you are judging Emmy reels, what do you look for when you’re voting on a performance?

WALLY: That’s a really great question. And because let’s face it, there’s just a lot of terrific talent in daytime. This year, I judged two categories. I don’t just go with, “Okay, who’s crying the most.” I really try to go with the one who’s touches me the most, who surprises me and moves me. And so, if you go with that, you’re probably going in the right direction. I also think that upfront you do need to kind of give them something in the first couple minutes that shows you know what you’re doing and don’t make it too repetitive.

Who did you first tell you were nominated?

WALLY: My manager, Michael Bruno called me. I was in Chicago with my daughters having a late breakfast and I knew the nominations were going to happen around 11 am Chicago time. I didn’t tell my daughters about what was happening, just in case, I didn’t get nominated. So, when Michael called, I went, “Oh, boy!” I told my daughters who were sitting at the table with me. So, they were the first two people that I could tell, and that was really nice.  We had champagne which was really funny because I bought three little glasses of champagne, and as soon as I bought it, we toasted. They said, “We don’t really like champagne.” So, I ended up drinking all three glasses. (Laughs)

Photo: JPI

What do you think of Eric Martsolf (Brady), your Day Players Band member, and DAYS co-star getting a Lead Actor nomination?

WALLY: I remember, I was like talking to him and I was like, “Eric, are you going to submit yourself?” And he is like, “I don’t know. I don’t really have anything …” And the next thing you know, he’s nominated. I’m like, “Wow! I guess he found something!” (Laughs) I love Eric. I have such respect for him and his gift, and he works really hard. So, I was very happy for him. I’m glad we weren’t in the same category, however.

How many years now have you been playing Justin on DAYS?

WALLY: I started here 37 years ago in 1987. I was there for four years and then I left. Then, 18 years later, Ken Corday (EP, DAYS) invited me back in 2009 and I’ve been on the show now for 15 years. So, I guess a total of 20 years on and off over the last 37 years. Everyone remembers 1987-1991 … those were big, big years for Justin and Adrienne who back then were a supercouple.

Photo: JPI

Have you determined who you would thank in your acceptance speech if you win this year’s Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy?

WALLY: I feel like this year I kind of have an idea of what I would say. I think I can remember all of that without writing it down. If I had gotten nominated for both shows, I was definitely going to point out and thank the powers-that-be for giving me dual citizenship and how much I appreciate that. I do think that being on both soaps, I will go to my grave believing that it’s made me a better actor. In fact, since I’ve been doing both shows, I’ve been nominated for Daytime Emmys. I’ve become a better actor. I feel like maybe it’s just that I’ve gotten older and wiser, but I feel as though when I go in there to work, I’m really focused and I’m really prepared. I know I pretty much get one shot to get it. We’re in the business of “one takes” now in the soaps.

People are so lucky to even have one enduring role in their careers, but you’ve been able to have two, and they’re completely separate characters on two legacy shows; one which just turned 61, General Hospital, and the other Days of our Lives which will soon celebrate 60 years, as well.

WALLY: I didn’t plan on it. I must have done something right. Back in 2009, Ken called me up and invited me back to DAYS. I really jumped in. I’d been out of work for four or five years. I went back with a whole new attitude about the work, about the genre.  In 2004, when I left General Hospital, I was kind of burnt out. Looking back on it, I didn’t have a good attitude and I was just done. I was kind of tired. New writers come in and sometimes, when you have new writers that look at your character differently, it can be very difficult, because you just know that their passion is not with your character. However, in this case, I’m like, “I’m going to take whatever the writers give me and do the best I can and do my job. Let the writers do their job.” I think the writers also know that I really respect them and I’m not going to complain. I’m not going to tell them what to do and I’m going to stay out of it. They have enough to work out. They have enough to do. I’m going to be the problem solver, not the problem creator. There are enough problem creators. Believe me when I tell you that every time I leave those sets, I’m like, “Thank you. I love it.  See you the next time I see you.” I know how lucky I am to do both shows and to have this opportunity to act at my age and still be sent scripts. I love the art of acting. I’d do it for free. The fact that they’re paying me and I am able to do this and work with these great, wonderful, talented actors every day, it’s kind of mind-blowing.

So, will you be rooting for Wally to take home the gold in this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in Daytime Drama Series at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+? Let us know if you remember his nominated scenes from Days of our Lives via the comment section below and how they affected you.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.
