DAYS Elani Wedding (Photos): What Did You Think Of The Nuptials?

This week on Days of our Lives saw the first African-American couple to be married on-screen in the 54-year history of Days of our Lives.  Now while Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) tried before in a previous ceremony, this one did the job … they are now officially husband and wife!

The ceremony was attended by Lani’s dad, Abe Reynolds (James Reynolds), her mother Tamara Price (Marily McCoo), Billy Davis Jr.  as a former FBI mentor to Eli, Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) – it was her restaurant after all and she is Eli’s grandmother.  Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) presided over the ceremony.

There were some unwelcome guests at the ceremony as well; leading the bride to question, are we doomed?  Why does this keep happening to us everytime we tried to get hitch!

However, fate was on Lani and Eli’s side this day, as even Gabi (Camila Banus) with her antics, and a shocking arrival from Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), couldn’t rain on this day.  Vivian even tried to shoot the bride, but thanks to Rafe (Galen Gering) saving the day and armed with news that her son Stefan (Brandon Barash) could be alive; he informs Viv firmly that she would be killing someone for the wrong reason, even though Vivian is in disbelief that her son is alive.  Next, she is whisked out of the ceremony.

Lani still feeling rattled by all the wedding interruptus gets a sign she should marry the man she loves; when her mother, who needed to go lie down earlier, as she was feeling faint, was able to show back up just in time to restart the wedding.

Broom

During the ceremony, Eli mentions the loss of little David Abraham and the struggles they went through, but how in the end it brought then closer together.  After the rings are exchanged and they are pronounced man and wife, the newlyweds “jump the broom” a wonderful tradition and a symbol of African-American heritage, where the sweeping of the broom signifies sweeping away all the bad energy.  After they sweep the broom, Elani jumps over it.

In a behind-the-scenes of the wedding segment released this week on the DOOL app, Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey talk about the inclusion of the ‘jump the broom’ moment in the episode, and how they suggested the idea to DAYS Co-EP Albert Alaar, and how  it was written into the episode.

So, what did you think of Lani and Eli’s wedding? Did you enjoy it? Let us know via the comment section below, but first check out this wedding photo gallery of the big day!

Lamon & Sal : TWO HOT

Jamesis MY Man he’s so stoic, so solid, LOVED, absolutely he’s refined, he built character

@DAYS : simply put; NEEDS, to bring back as recurring… perhaps as chief of staff, Valerie.

geez: I haven’t been so excited for romance, love, and it just rings up w/Eric N Stacey. WOW

I keep starring in Galen “EYE” not wanting to forget , who would? YIKES the smolder . FIRE!

How can any one not say … @DAYS is doing things…. IMAGINATION TAKE; WITH HEART

more than any thing… I loved the visit with these newly crowned BFF. Lani N Kristen !

as they shared in each other joy…. “why aren’t you jumping up and down… with your pregnancy”

oh god… the angst , the heart, the cling on to.

knowing she had already miscarried … PLUS wanting her wedding to go off without a hitch.

watching Lani confide in Kristen… their lives

oh god.. Eric Martsolf , IS AN ACTOR … and a DAMNED GOOD ONE ! as he spied, felt Kristen presence … Kristen replete in Nun… turns

the look , on Brady face… says it all.. as Kristen, can’t believe herself the glee and laughter that this man LOVES HER. oh god ! I love this stuff. it was just so real stuff.. as Brady shares , he just doesn’t know what to do with himself, apart from Kristen AND Rachel… as Kristen is about to leave , again, on her own… Brady grabs her , hands held… walk off .. scene end ?!?! TEARS … I don’t need that heart wrench yet… I want to savor this

Lani and Eli…. it’s so beautiful…how real these two solid acts bring to life…another LOVE. geez louise… I’d lose my cookies if I had to stare in to his dreamy

I HAVE TO ADD : proof positive…REAL REEL’ing w/Olivia Rose Keegan. Yeah

it’s delight again… watching Claire MIXING Salem’ite . knowing she won, she deserved an EMMY. I acknowledge how much FUN it is to watch her bravura … no matter that she’s “misunderstood” she may be foot first.. then mindsets

WE LOVE YOU CLAIRE !

Storywise, the show appears to be in a good place. Eli, Lani, Gabbi, Rafe, Will, Chad, Abigail, Claire and Sonny. They have finally realized the 80’s are over and started making its younger cast more visible although I’d watch Julie and Steve read a phone book. Can’t they come up with a comic storyline for Julie, Vivian and Maggie. Let them play detective. Now if only they’dump the back from the dead storylines, bring back David Banning and Nurse Ann they might have a chance.

“Now if only they’dump the back from the dead storylines, bring back David Banning”

Uh, you know you just contradicted yourself, right??

Of course the death of David Banning was never seen on screen, so it could be explained away without Rolf Zombie Serum, or brain chips or any other such nonsense. But it would still be a “back from the dead” story.

Aside from that, I don’t think they know what age to make David Banning anymore. He was born on screen in the early 70s, SORASed early, and while he was offscreen, his own son Scotty was also SORASed. Scotty hasn’t been seen in a while, but the guy who played him now has gray hair, so if they portrayed David Banning at the age he should be, proportionate to all of that, he’d be the same age as his mother, Julie.

So a lot less confusing to leave him dead. I promise you, he’s not in Hell!

I loved Kristen visiting Lani & if truth be told I think those two have more chemistry than the bride & groom. Loved the actual vows & jumping of the broom.
Didn’t like the ridiculous interruptions & spotty acting at times. Also, budget is so bad they can’t afford to do right by these weddings. This being first black on screen wedding in Days history should have been on the scale of Angie/Jessie at AMC all those years ago.

What’s to say? Just another wedding fiasco as par for the course on Days. God forbid they should give us something to enjoy! Now we have to see two more, and Will ordained as officiant, stupid and silly.

These two characters have really grown on me. I think they are in a dead heat with Ben and Ciara as to which couple is more risque (with their constant amorous adventures).

That being said, the wedding shenanigans were way over the top! And not in a good way…

But bonus points for including Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr! I don’t know their history, if any, with this show, but they are legendary recording artists. Google them if you don’t know.

I saw them in concert just a few years ago, and they were still quite entertaining. They were very successful as part of the Fifth Dimension (late 60s, early 70s, “Aquarius,” “Wedding Bell Blues”), then performed as a duo, starting in the mid-70s. As a duo, their biggest hit was “You Don’t Have to Be a Star (to Be in My Show).” But they were also noteworthy for recording what many (myself included) consider to be the first true disco song, “Shine on Silver Moon.” Give it a spin!

FUN READ: ^^^ “…their constant amorous adventures ”

yeah, it’s always a “doozy” when that RIGHT one reels. think Brady, Eric, Chad, oh and Kristen, Nicole, Abs… well you know

with production CHANGE coming soon. B&B can have their blow up and love interest “stand-in” @DAYS fan have imagination. you’ll have to listen to Ron C. talk with Steve and Kayla. he’s like characters will have to voice: ” I want a big kisseroo smooch smooch” camera fades

it’s an important trigger… impulse, no? they are all so good looking

I’ve already posted that Ciera and Ben PLUS Gabs… CAN CHILL OUT SOME. wow.. have you reached that younger demographic already YET ? vapors heady impulse

I AM SO TAKEN w/Kristen and Brady… just shocked at how much pull , Stacey Haiduk reigns as first lady… woahsah Brady ! I’ve touted this the best their is going on now in all daytime. I am already heated.. so 6 feet apart at sheet pulling and drop the towel

parting note : 5th dimension is played in our house. One less bell to answer, along with their body of work. I have always loved Marilyn McCoo. “You don’t have to be a star, baby, to be in my show” just for the heck of it.. it’s a cute diddy from 1989. youtube it :Sonia – You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You – Official Video ” it’s sooooo Alec Baldwin’esque.. but can so clearly see Billy Flynn @DAYS Chad doing this. yike

Thanks for your reply, Patrick! I noticed it because I purposely looked at this page again. I did not get an email, notifying me that I had a reply. I am no longer receiving those helpful emails about a post I made or a reply to a post I made. Is that happening with everyone?!?!

I’ve mentioned before that I thoroughly enjoy your posts — and that continues — but it’s great to engage with you here.

I agree with all your points. Glad you are also a Fifth Dimension/Marilyn McCoo fan!

Best to you, Friend!

correct on the NO MORE; e-mail notification (s)

along with having to put your “name” and “EMAIL” .. thankfully that’s just a right click on bar.

I miss the edit button

Thanks for letting me know it’s not only me, Patrick.

I meant to add earlier (no edit button) that I am so with you when it comes to Kristen and Brady. Always enjoyable. As is reading your posts!

I absolutely love the dress!! Anyone know where can I finded it?!

Wedding ceremony was beautiful. Dress was awful. Did not show off true beauty of Lani. Showed awful on TV
