Kayla and Steve.

Love the couple, CeeCee…..but can’t stand emojis…..they have always seemed so juvenile to me……just like those ridiculous shipper names. It sort of beggars belief that actual adults use either one!

Yeah, I don’t like the combined names…as I said, if my husband and I arrange our names it would be Jucee. I noticed that kids love emojis and bitmojies?…… Kayla and Steve have always been my faves…..never liked John and Marlena, as a couple. …looove Ms Hall, though. I did like Hope and Bo, but Hope has lost the real Hope somewhere along the like…too stiff. Ces and I had a thing going ( sort of a banter) about John and Marlena , which I enjoyed so much…..but, I haven’t seen Ces comment for a while….. I love Anna and… Read more »

I actually use emojis and shipper names, Shay. Of course, I’m also sometimes accused of acting juvenile, LOL!

@4everDAYS….Aw….no offense meant by my criticisms of said modes of communication….we all use them sometimes as a shortcut. I was referring to purportedly-mature people who cannot seem to get enough of them and employ them with utter abandon….especially the maniacally-laughing emojis!

I prefer JaM (John and Marlena) to Jarlena.

How can we celebrate DOOL couples when all of them are in peril? Soaps need a balance of romance and darkness and DOOL is, again, just depressingly dark. John a murderder? Steve is dying. Abigail has mental illness and murders. JJ and Lani, paternity lie. The Rate and Sami secret will be revealed at the ROPE wedding. I dread that. There will be no happy nuptials there. The only stable couples are over 70.

Hi, dav….where have you been? LOL.
You don’t like any of the couples? HaHa.
I wish Ces would put in a few words so the two of us could discuss John and Marlena….what fun!!!!
Glad to see you post, dav….missed you.

I rarely correct anyone, but I feel I have to in order to make my point, Celia. DAYS spells Bo and Hope’s daughter’s name Ciara. Tripp and Ciara’s combined name is Tiara. Will DAYS “crown” them as their newest supercouple? If so, will Claire smash them? On the other hand, Claire and Tripp would be Clipp, which seems painful…lol

The most painful couple is Rafe and Hope. I fear DAYS is hanging itself with “Rope.”

That’s okay, 4ever…you can correct me anytime….no one is infallible. I really thought it was ‘Ciera’ with an ‘e’….
Now I know better, thank you.
I would also like to commend you on your knowledge of grammar…..”Couple” is a collective noun, therefore, singular, requiring the singular, inaction verb ‘is’…..which you have used splendidly, LOL.

I am not into combining names….but, yes, Tiara is much more palatable than Clipp. HaHa….
I like CiAra (LOL) and Tripp together ( do not like Claire, one bit) …..no ingenue, she!!
Perhaps, it is just I, but there is something inherently not right with this girl.

CELIA. .as you can see in the delayed response busy. It’s nice to be recognizably missed lol. I have no idea what you and 4ever are talking about haha. All that name mashing I never got it. Initially I was confused with carjackers (Carly and Jack ATWT) I was like (in my falsettovoice)-“whaaaa”? But on Ciara. .I don’t get her attitude since she wasn’t allowed to grow up before our eyes. Also. .BritBox had me stuck on stupid for a moment devouring the British soaps. Once I got back to ours I realize they really are good I’d been missing… Read more »

O, I noticed your absence, dav…for sure. …love your dry humor and sarcasm. I said it so many times before, I dislike the name-combos with a passion! I don’t get Ciara’s ‘tude either…..she is not the original sorased Ciara. However, I can tell you that this Ciara is much more acceptable than the first. Of course, we all miss little Lauren….such a prodigy. LOL… 4ever was just telling me “Ciara” was spelled with an “e”, that’s all. And, I was praising his grammar….I get a little carried away…HaHa… Jennifer? You describe her to the letter. Amish fits….as does Quaker. LOL.… Read more »

Ps. Oopsies, dav….pressed ‘submit’ too soon… I will take Vivian any way I can….she is amazing to me…her every move, her expressions are ‘artful’…..the perfect foil to any character with a modicum of goodness who is involved with Andre’s/Tony’s? death…..especially now, with all the mayhem going on. I do believe Claire, with her glassy, other-worldly-stare will be one to watch, in the near future. Oh, by the by….I’d love to hear you speak in falsetto…if it were only possible!! LOL. And, I am sure you get the ‘moniker’ Gabigail ( 4ever’s invention). As you have seen, I’m sure, Abby has… Read more »

You know Chad and Gabi were a couple last year and many of us love them and miss them. It really is hurtful and disrespectful not to do one of them for their fans. Because of that, I refuse to download either of the emojis for this show.

Days of our Lives Episodes Offered On ‘Peacock’ Streaming Service One Day After Air On NBC

On Wednesday, Peacock the new NBCUniversal streaming service expanded its reach nationwide. Peacock will offer 13,000 hours on its free tier and 20,000 hours on its subscription level, sourced from a range of networks and studios both inside and outside of NBCU. Nine Peacock Original movies and shows are available at launch, with others following through the end of the year.

According to Deadline,  The Premium tier costs $5 a month, though some distribution partners (and Comcast) are bundling it at no extra cost to customers, at least on an extended-trial basis. Regardless of the price they pay for Premium, subscribers can also pay $5 more per month to get an ad-free version of Peacock.

Both free and Premium tiers will feature current NBC shows — on the free level, they will be available a week after linear air, and on Premium they’ll be there the next day.   Days of our Lives new episodes will be offered up on the streaming service one day after they air in their normal timeslot on NBC

NBC shows offered the day after their linear premieres along with Days of our Lives are: America’s Got Talent, Blindspot, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, A Little Late with Lilly Singh, Saturday Night Live, Superstore, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, New Amsterdam, Manifest, The Titan Games, Hollywood Game Night, World of Dance, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Access Hollywood, Dateline, NBC Nightly News and Meet the Press, and Telemundo series including 100 Días Para Enamorarnos, Celia, Cennet, Enemigo Intimo, La Doña, Minuto Para Ganar and Noticias Telemundo

Along with Comcast’s X1 and Flex, Peacock will be available on Apple and Google platforms, Microsoft’s Xbox, Vizio and LG smart TVs, Cox Contour and, starting next week, Sony PlayStation.

Breaking News

Melissa Reeves Has NOT Been Fired From Days of our Lives

A technical error caused a bit of a firestorm on Monday night, and a retraction early Tuesday morning when an item appeared most notably on TV Line’s partner’s feed, Yahoo News, that had a headline stating that Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) had been fired from Days of our Lives.

If site visitors and readers looked closely, there were actually two versions of the opening line that appeared.  One of which was noting that Reeves was apologizing for “catching heat” from co-stars and fans for backing a post by Candace Owens that was Anti-Black Lives Matter, and the other one that she was fired from the NBC soap opera.

TV Line early Monday morning issued this statement to clarify what happened and confirmed that Reeves had NOT been fired from DAYS: “Due to technical error, a story was briefly published on TVLine on Monday evening — and has since surfaced on several of our partner feeds, most notably Yahoo — that erroneously claims Days of Our Lives has fired Melissa Reeves. The story is false. Melissa Reeves has not been fired from Days of Our Lives. In the meantime, we apologize for the error.”

DAYS Wally Kurth Delivers ‘The Power Performance of the Week’

Mark our words! Next year, Days of our Lives Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) will once again be nominated for a Daytime Emmy for this week’s emotional and deeply-touching work on key episodes of the NBC daytime drama series.

As viewers saw, this was to be the happy nuptials of Justin and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who found love again after losing the previous loves of their lives.  They were dear friends to begin with, who through a set of horrific circumstances, found comfort with one another which eventually turned to love.

Photo: JPi

Problem was; Justin overheard Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) before the ceremony discussing Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) feelings for Kayla and that he wants her back; something Kayla is unaware of.  So what will he do?  The noble thing and tell her the truth, or keep it to himself and marry her anyway?

As the Intel of what he learned weighed heavier and heavier on Justin, in the most dramatic of moments (when he was to say his “I do’s”), Justin stopped the ceremony and bared all to Kayla: that Steve wants her back and how Steve saw him propose to her and that is why he backed off.  Armed with the knowledge and that her friends and family kept it from her, Kayla does not know what to do.  Justin helps made it easy and clear for her when he questions her … if they would be standing here getting married, if Steve had told her his true feelings before Justin proposed to her?

Justin goes on to say to Kayla that maybe she has been avoiding her true feelings for Steve, because she did not want to hurt him.  Then Justin tells Kayla that he visited his late wife Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) grave, and told her that if things were different, and if she was alive they would still be married, and Kayla would be their dear, dear friend.

With seeing the look on Kayla’s eyes, Justin knows she loves Steve.  Heartbroken, but caught in an untenable situation, Justin tells Kayla he is happy for her.  Kayla wraps her arms around Justin as they both cry.  Kayla says she never wanted to hurt him, and when Wally as Justin says, “I know, honey,” it was one of the most honest and ten-hankie moments of the entire scenario.   Justin kisses her, tells the guests there will be no wedding today, and exits the Kiriakis mansion.

The emotional drama continues in the aftermath as Justin is at Kayla’s apartment boxing up all of his belongings and tears up recalling their nights together listening to jazz and cooking dinner.  Sonny (Freddie Smith) finds his dad, and tells him he did the noble thing and that time will heal all wounds, but after Sonny leaves, Justin breaks down a bit further before exiting Kayla’s for good.

And if that was not enough, Justin goes back to Adrienne’s gravesite to update her on the wedding that did not happen.   He talks to her that he understands Kayla and Steve’s deep and enduring love, which was just like theirs was.  Next, Justin thinks he is seeing Adrienne, when none other than Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) reveals she is back in Salem – talk about kicking a guy when he is down!

Throughout this entire saga, moment to moment, Kurth delivered raw, genuine, adult emotions, in a very complex adult story and relationship.   In fact, the cast and crew thought so, too!  When Wally as Justin told Kayla that he can’t marry her and the speech that followed and his exit from the mansion that followed, all those on set applauded for him.  His work was that moving.   Wally was ably assisted throughout by the outstanding work of Mary Beth Evans in these scenes.

2020, while a difficult year for everyone thus far, has been a particular great year for Kurth on Days; as over the last six months he has really had a chance to shine in this story.  So for all of these reasons and more, Michael Fairman TV gives the “Power Performance of the Week” kudos to Wally Kurth.

Did you love Wally’s performance this week on Days? Did you reach for the hankies? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
