Drew Barrymore Daytime Talk Show Pilot In The Works

Photo: JPI

This fall, new talkers from Tamron Hall and Kelly Clarkson will be part of the daytime television landscape, and now comes word that Drew Barrymore may enter the space with a new talk show for her that is in development with the pilot being shot this coming week.

According to Variety, details of the proposed one-hour show are not all clear, but Drew is said to be one of the executive producers of the pilot episode and yet there is no showrunner attached to the project at this time.  Barrymore’s company, Flower Films is likely attached as well.

Back in 2016, Barrymore had a deal in place with Warner Brothers Telepictures for a talk show, but that never came to pass, in part to a lukewarm response from TV station groups at that time.

However now the new regime at CBS’ syndication arm is said to have ‘high hopes’ for the show and they feel that Drew will appeal and do well in the daytime arena.

Barrymore recently appeared in her third season of  Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet in its 30 episode season. Through her Flower Films she was been an executive producer on unscripted series including TLC’s Rattled and VH1’s Tough Love.

So, would you be interested. or intrigued to see what kind of show Drew Barrymore has to offer in daytime? Think she would be a good host? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I don’t understand how anyone can sit through an hour of mostly bs opinion talk lol
that is so crazy..
Seriously- can anyone tell me the entertainment worth of listening to gossipy opinions ..
Perhaps lonely people feel it’s their company of the day, a conversation brought into their home or some such thing.

ie( The view is way off the track its stupid arguing and stupider opinions, and now another one!
I just don’t understand that mindset.
but- some love that stuff, go figure..

I don’t watch but many times there are clips in news stories etc, they’re all loonies! lol
perhaps that’s the entertainment- watching the loonies!

It’s too bad that Drew’s zombie sitcom got cancelled, but a talk show is a bad move for her. It’s already an over saturated market and most of them fail.

Please no more talk shows crowding up tv lineups. If I am going to spend 1 hour watching tv, it will be binge-watching one of my favorite drama soaps.

Instead of continuing to go down the talk show route, why are more networks not chasing more game shows. It seems “Jeopardy,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “Let’s Make a Deal” have been successful for years. I would love to see “Concentration” and “Password” come back.

I can’t imagine any news with less impact than a new talk show!

General Hospital

Jessica Tuck Returns This Week To General Hospital

There will be a Cassandra Pierce sighting in Port Charles, which means one of the best actresses we know, Jessica Tuck, will be back on your screens this week on ABC’s General Hospital.

Tuck, who became soap-famous for her role as Megan on One Life to Live from 1988-1992 and then went on to primetime television roles returns to the canvas as the evil Cassandra, a role she debuted on GH back in 2017.  Viewers last saw her pop during Michael (Chad Duell) and Sasha’s (Sofia Matteson)vacation.

But this time look for Tuck to mix-it up with GH icon Genie Francis (Laura) in some major showdown scenes, when she holds the mayor and Curtis (Donnell Turner) at gunpoint on the Haunted Star.  Will these two be able to get the on-the-run villainess locked up for good? Don’t necessarily count on it.

Of course, a man who both Cassandra and Laura have an interest in bringing down, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) plays heavy into the story. But will Cassandra do a double-cross of a double-cross? Who else may get a dose of something potentially lethal that she has been concocting?

Jessica told Soap Opera Digest that when she found out she would be working with Genie Francis; “I was like Woo-hoo! Hot diggity!  I mean, like many people, I have been a fan of hers forever and ever and ever.  It was fun to meet the person behind the character I’ve gotten to know.”
