Drew Garrett, General Hospital’s dismissed Michael Corinthos, hails from the Palm Beach Gardens area of Florida.  And, their local news station just did a piece on their local hero’s plight; from the efforts of fans in facebook to get him back on GH , to Drew’s outlook since being let-go.  Here are some excerpts:

Drew Garrett on his thoughts on being let-go:  “Whether I stayed on the show one year or four years or two years, it was a great experience regardless and a great tool for my career.”

Drew Garrett on the efforts by fans to bring him back to GH: “I’m trying to stay 100 percent confident, because you got to in this kind of business. But it’s hard not to when you have so many people providing you so much support.”

LeAnn Skeen on her facebook efforts: It’s not silly. Fans get really upset about TV shows. And the executive producers really need to respect what the viewers want.”

What is the reasoning for letting this very good actor go? I just don’t get it! Why do they take the best actors who get them to the crux of the best story and then fire them? Just give me a damn good reason! He has done a wonderful job for GH……

Drew, I’m really hoping that the people that made this decision about your role on the show will reconsider. There has been a tremdous outpouring of support and encouragement by your fans and we are all ready to rally around you and do what it takes to keep you on as Michael. You are so talented and in demand. I don’t understand why they would do this. We have all connected to you in some way and that is why the fans are having such a hard time letting go. It takes someone special to make a person feel something, and you do that. You make us feel and want to see what you’ll do next. You are a rare find in daytime anymore. My best wishes to you in all you endeavor. I am forever a fan!

I am not pleased at all that Drew was let go, and agree that the powers that be for ONCE need to listen to what the fans want. Drew is not the first actor to be treated like disposable waste, Tamara, Ted, Greg, Stuart to name a few were treated horribly after having given years to their characters. Love the mob character, but have grown incredibly tired of mob centered GH. Was looking forward to seeing DG’s character Michael getting a love interest, getting mixed into the crowd, and the Quartermaines for a change. Drew G more than proved that he was capable, and has terrific chemistry with everyone. Another dumb move IMO.

Like everyone else, I was totally stunned hearing this news. I reserved judgment and kept up-to-date with the GH cast on twitter and other sites. From what I’ve learned, Drew worked with Ingo on Friday, March 19, then worked on the 22nd and was told not to come back on the 23rd. Chad Duell on Facebook reported on the night of the 22nd that he got a lead on GH and then reported to the set on the 23rd. I’d like to know when he auditioned for the role and who with. Lexi Ainsworth was one of three up for the role of Kristina and had a final audition with SB. It took months for Dominic to be cast, with a final audition and approval from MB. It’s obvious Chad is someone’s pet or GH just wanted a “pretty boy.” MB stated he would put personal feelings aside and do his job, but I doubt the cast can have much respect for CD. Did DG cause problems and not get along with the women on set? I don’t think MB, SB, NLG, LW, DC, etc. would have been so upset to see him go, nor would Lexi have cried herself to sleep if they weren’t so close. What ABC/GH did was wrong, unfair and callous. CD may not have known what went on behind the scenes, but now he does. I’m angry but mostly outraged at ABC/GH’s disrespectful and shabby treatment of Drew Garrett. He deserves a huge apology and a welcome back to GH in the role he so masterfully created.

I am bummed about Drew Garrett being let go. He brings an edge to the character of Michael and I think they may are making a mistake in recasting him. But what do I know, I’m only a loyal GH fan since the 70’s. I believe most of these recastings are based on “office politics” just like anywhere else, not on the merits or talent or popularity of the actors they so readily dismiss and replace. Unfortunately the powers that be don’t really listen to the fans/viewers until the ratings take a big drop. Yep, I am not happy about this.

I am so disappointed that they recasted the character of Michael. Drew Garrett made that part is own. He took over the part that Dylan Cash had for so long. He trully reacted like a kid that was angry and confused at times, due to his TBJ. I felt that he did hold his own with Maurice, Laura and Steve. And his interaction with Kristina, Morgan, Jax and even Dante was excellent. I feel that the higher ups at General Hospital drop the ball on this recast. I have been a loyal fan for 38 years, and I will no longer care what goes on GH. For years GH has had stroylines that were up and then went down, and I stuck with them, even when the stories were a little off, but I’m so disguised with the way this situtation was handled, why should I care to continue watching. The ratings for GH, haven’t been all that great, and then to pull a stunt like this, is not going to help, in my opinion.

Drew was doing an excellent job. He was perfectly cast. Why the change? We want him to continue playing Michael on GH. I wish him all the best.

I was so upset when I heard Drew was let go, I was so use to seeing him on the show and he was doing a great job.

Drew Garrett has done a wonderful job. I can’t imagine why he is being replaced.

I gave the “new Michael” Chad Duell a chance, but I’m not impressed. Drew Garrett was excellent in the role of Michael Corinthos and this has to be one of the worst recasting mistakes in daytime history. I think Duell the Disney Boy had some connections, and someone at ABC cashed in a favor to someone. Either way, I’m done with watching General Hospital. Best of luck to Drew Garrett!

I agree 100% this new micheal ( well not so new anymore) just isn’t doing it for me.

Drew is a grerat actor, who cares what the viewers want, they can’t tell between a good actor or actress, they always take some of the best ones of there, don’t make sense, just like they did Ugly Betty that was a great show, always want to put these other crapy shows, like drew he is sexy, nice looking, and he had a great personality, and i know he will do good in the near future, and most of all he is a great actor i love you drew man, i wish you the best of luck and im looking forward of seeing you i n movies or other soaps take it easy buddy.

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital

For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.

According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).

Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared,  “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”

In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.

No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.

With the Melrose Place revival the talk of the town, now Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco, GH, ex-Nick, B&B and ex-Peter Burns, MP) has weighed-in on it and if he would show up in the new series if it should find a home.

Currently, CBS Studios is developing a reboot starring Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton. But what is Dr. Peter Burns were to show up alive?

As those who saw the end of the original MP know, Peter and Amanda (Locklear) faked their deaths and then tied the knot with Peter on a beach, supposedly in a “happily ever after” scenario.

Photo: Fox

Speaking with PEOPLE, Wagner expressed, what we all know who watch the soaps, that no one is never, ever really gone for good. Jack expressed, “You never really die on a soap, right? How they unfold those two characters (Peter and Amanda), it’d be fantastic how they sort of tell that story.”

Wagner added, “That was a great finale to be included in, especially with Heather. If I’m asked to come back, I’d absolutely entertain that.”

Photo: Fox

The original Melrose Place aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999. The story featured the residents of an apartment complex, whose lives were intertwined. Eventually Wagner and Heather Locklear dated fro 2007-2011.

As previously reported, the new Melrose Place share that some of original neighbors and friends reunite after a death. The loglines add, “The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you like to see Jack Wagner return as Dr. Peter Burns on Melrose Place, or Frisco Jones on GH, or both? Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Photo: ABC

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

Photo: ABC

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.
