Emme Rylan Addresses Reports Of Her Exit From General Hospital & Update On Plans With Family

Photo: ABC

Several hours ago, Emme Rylan (Lulu) of General Hospital took to her Instagram story to talk directly to her followers, friends and fans about her rumored exit on the ABC daytime drama series, and to share some changes in where she and her family will be living.

At that time, Emme updated everyone that since the landlord sold the house she has been living in with partner Don Money and their three children, that they had not found a suitable home for them to live, in Los Angeles, after their extensive search.  So for now they were going to put their things in storage and go on an extended road trip with the entire family in tow … in a car… under Covid-19 safety protocols with her kids still distance-learning, and that she would be documenting the trip on her Instagram account,

After she shared her original update, she later went back to her Instagram story to clarify her earlier statements after many fans were following up with her asking her even more questions.

Rylan shared:  “I am getting a lot of questions that I cannot answer …  people are kind of being confused that maybe I chose to take a vacation or take time-off,  so the only thing I can say is “no, I did not choose this.”  I can’t say anything else.  There you go.   That’s all I am allowed to say.   So, this trip is us taking an unexpected turn of events and turning it into something positive and fun for our family. ”

Earlier on her IG story, Emme addressed the reports of her exit from Port Charles explaining: “I am not in a position to be able to comment on the work stuff, so in terms of General Hospital, I am going to keep that topic quiet. All you need to know is that I love everyone there, we all love each other, I’m okay, and all of your messages of love are amazing … I love you guys so much — but I just can’t talk about it. ”

Then as to her plans with her family she shared: “We, meaning my family and I, have decided to do something completely insane. I have never done anything like this in my entire adult life. We are currently packing up our entire house and putting it in a pod and putting it in storage here in Los Angeles, and with only our suitcases, we are going to go on a Covid-safe, epic road trip.  I have been working every single day, Monday through Friday on a soap opera since 2004?  I have only been in New York and L.A, and I have never really explored life outside of this bubble.”

So, what do you think about what Emme shared with her fans and followers? Comment below.

Good on her for turning lemons into lemonade.

Could they be re casting Lulu! I just hope they are not killing her!

I won’t be watching the show anymore. Now that they are getting rid of Luke and Laura legacy. The Spencer name will only be a thought

Bobbie is still on. (Albeit sporadically)

No she is not in the show on the daily basis. Only when they need her like this show. And the Spencer legacy on GH started with Luke and Laura.

The powers that be are getting rid of the Luke/Laura just as they are getting rid of the Quartermaine legacy.

With a remodeled set, the amount of screen time Ned has received these past few months, and Brook Lynn driving story, the Q’s are in their best shape in years. (granted nowhere near the heyday of the 90s)

Well, if they literally rolled GH back to where it was before the arrival of the Spencer & Quartermaine families, they would be literally 13 weeks from cancellation.

Not to mention the fact that the main families in town before that were the Hardys & the Baldwins. Elizabeth is all that remains of the Hardy family, and Scotty is the only Baldwin left (no, I do NOT count Frodd as a legitimate “Baldwin”) so the two of them can’t exactly carry the whole show.

You are not a fan of GH! A real fan doesnt tune out just because of one actor losing her job.

You don’t get to define what a “true fan” is. To cast shade (constructively, I’d hope) on somebody else for doing something, yes, certainly. To appoint yourself arbiter of what constitutes being a “true fan,” no indeed.

I would say a “true fan” doesn’t watch whatever crap is thrown up on the screen regardless of whether it’s interesting or engaging, or stay tuned when TPTB focus on actors and characters I couldn’t care less about while back-burnering or writing out actors and characters I do care about–but that would still be only me giving my own personal definition.

I commented on Karen’s post, not yours. Stay in your own yard Mikey!

You commented publicly—not privately, after all—and I commented in response. That’s the nature of a Comments section.

And you still don’t get to define what a “true fan” is for anyone other than yourself.

Michael, “Defiantly not Fairman”, Karen can speak for herself! You must be one of those prehistoric “Men” that feels women cannot vote, work or hold opinions? Lets move on and agree to agree, you grow up and I will continue to post insightful opinions about GH and those who are coming or going. Good luck Emme.

It really stinks, especially because Dante just returned and her stories were just heating up

Great actress, enjoy life!!

I will miss her! I love her as Lulu! I will be disappointed if they bring JMB back!

The only way that this would make any sense is if they’re bringing the REAL Lulu, Julie Marie Berman, back to the role.

Because not even Frank Valentini would be STUPID enough to take another Spencer family member out of Port Charles.

If this is the case, I feel for Emme, as it’s never a good thing to lose a job, particularly in the COVID clusterfuck when acting gigs probably aren’t as easy to come by as they otherwise would be. But – honest Devil that I am – I have to say that seeing JMB back as Lulu would be a great thing for the show, particularly now that Dante is back in town.

I wish her & her family luck on their “epic road trip” though I’m not sure where it’s really safe to go to avoid COVID. Except Hell, of course, but we ain’t exactly the family tourism sort of destination down here, and it’s a one way trip!!

I’m not a fan of JMB! I’m disappointed about this! Emme didn’t even want to leave

i also, think, it’s time to discard, Maxie

come on… the ditzy chick , hang on, she’s imbibing… don’t lead us astray

with no Ryan.. her character has nosedived due to POOR writing

it’s simply time for @GH writers to feature elsewhere

I agree with you, Satan. The only way this makes sense is if Julie Marie Berman is coming back. It might then be that the reason Emme can’t say more has to do with the terms of her departure; maybe they gave her some kind of settlement to avoid the kind of hard feelings and bad press that Y&R (just to pick an example) generated when they axed Gina Tognoni to bring Michelle Stafford back as Phyllis.

I liked Emme just fine as Lulu, but JMB was also excellent, and she’s the one many viewers think of when they think of Lulu. I suppose they have to do what they think will bring in the ratings, but I hate it when they do things like this. It always comes off as mercenary to me. If they thought she wasn’t cutting it as Lulu, then ax her for that reason; don’t hang on to her and then dump her because First Choice became available. I feel bad for Emme, and I’m glad to see she’s found a way to make lemonade out of it.

(Somebody asked, elsewhere in the thread, why she didn’t own a house. I’d say THIS is why. I’d have a hard time committing to a mortgage too in a profession as uncertain as acting. Maybe if I was Julia Roberts and could pay cash for it–but even then I’d be worried about how to pay the insurance and the taxes if the acting jobs dried up.)

They’d be much better off—in my opinion, of course—focusing their attention on the crappy writing and overuse of certain characters to the detriment of others.

I’m OK with it-
Lulu was a character that was total ISHHH.
Lulu retched my stomach eeeshhh.
It is thankfully good to have Lulu gone..
As for the actress;
I feel sad for her- it is a heartache for sure.
I wish her well and a great future.

Well I’ll miss ya
LuLu will be missed !!!!’n
Great actress!!!

Wow, I felt bad for her when Y&R cut her and was happy that she made it to GH Now GH has cut her off which is so sad doing these times. I wish her well and something better is just around the bend.

While I may not have always enjoyed her portrayal of Lulu, I have admired her sense of humor and loyalty to the show. Hope she finds success down the road (perhaps back in Genoa City).

As for the departure, Lulu is one of 3 key legacy characters (under 40, Michael & Maxie being the others) that are key to the show’s future. I cannot see them killing off the character. How would they address Luke and Lucky’s absence? Thinking they may send her out of town briefly, and have Julie Berman return in the role in a few months.

The other much discussed departure of William deVry is not nearly as surprising, as Julian has run his course. I will miss his sibling dynamic with Maura West.

It’s been such a long time since the show has done a whodunnit storyline. We need a murder with multiple suspects. Thought they were building up to it with Shiloh, and then possibly Nelle. The obvious victim currently on the canvas is Cyrus. Regardless, the story won’t come close to the great murder mysteries of Diana Taylor, Susan Moore and Beatrice LaSuerre.

Good luck Emme.

I say go for it! Some of the best things are ones that were not planned. Doing things spontaneously sometimes turn out better than anything you could have imagined. Have a great time, have fun, be safe and stay well!

Good for her
Enjoy your roadtrip explorations!
And when your ready pls come back to genoa city and bring Abby back to life as the spitfire daughter of Ash and Vic! Not this boring valley girl imposter thats currently portraying her.

It certainly sounds like she’s been let go. Good luck to her. And why doesn’t she own a house? Why couldn’t she find someplace to live?

Hate to see someone with three children lose their job. Also, recently Emme lost her sister. It’s heartless.
TPTB decided to trim the cast, but don’t have an exit plan for Peter.

I wish her the very best on her new journey, stay safe out there. Will miss her so much on GH 🙁

Let her live her life leave her alone girlfriend leave that stupid state and live your life ! You just might survive or you could sit there and stay and let your worthless governor dictate your life pack your car and get the hell out!

And somehow the political craziness works its way into post about a soap actress losing her job.

I’m quite content knowing my governor has the health and well being of residents as a priority in a state that’s the worlds 6th largest economy. Far from stupid.

Good Luck and please stay safe. You will be missed and I’m sure we’ll see you again fingers crossed from

I will miss her as I did when she left Guiding Light but only to appear on Young and the Restless. So I figure she will bounce back and I will see her on the screen again after her family saga. Good luck to her and hoping she will be well.

I really liked her role as Lizzie on GL,but as Abby on Y&R, NO. Abby is beautiful, smart, sophisticated, etc. I can not imagine Emme playing the role in the same way i.e Victor Newman’s daughter, Chance’s fiance, going toe to toe with Phyllis, etc. I tend to see her as this little annoying busy body, in everyone’s business and as long as I am being truthful and probably alienating some fans, I would like to see her take her ditzy friend with her!
Anyone agreeing with me will know who I mean.

I think it would be terrible for GH to send Lulu packing, especially since the triangle between Lulu, Dante and Dustin is just getting started. I have always liked Emme’s work. So, I hope to see her back on the canvass whatever is going on ~ and assuming she’ll be off canvass for a while.

Hope she has a wonderful time on her trip!

This doesn’t make sense with Dante and Laura coming back? Emme was a great Lulu.
I am very sad and disappointed with GH.
Is this a way to treat a loyal employee? Wow!

She probably had to sign a non-disclosure. As she said on another site that her little statement was” all she was allowed to say”, but it will all come out in the wash as they say, it always does.

Then she must have been fired, but why? If she loves everyone there and they love her. Then the cast should help out by fighting with the producers not to fire her. She’s a great actress.

While they’re being supportive, the cast knows that due to budget constraints cuts are necessary. The 32 contract players is the largest amount in years. It’s an unfortunate, but necessary, and cyclical pattern in daytime.

The rumors are that more contract cast cuts are coming. The cast doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Keep Lulu…the Spencers/Webbers/Quatremaines are legacy characters….well, this pushed my decision more towards stop watching GH and Days-Days revolving door of cast is getting on my nerves…

I wish the actress well. I hate to see anyone lose their job. She just never caught on as Lulu. I would bring back Julie Berman and Greg Vahn. Laura is around. It would be nice to build stories around three powerful actors with Spencer history.

I wish her and her family all the best in their future.

Juliet Donenfeld is the Temporary Recast as General Hospital’s Georgie

Those who saw the GH preview for today’s May 2nd episode were a bit confused when they saw a young actress sitting with Lois (Rena Sofer) and Violet (Jophielle Love). As it turns out, that young girl is a recast Georgie.

As for Donenfeld’s credits, she has appeared as JJ in the Netflix’s WWE series The Big Show Show,  Better Call Saul, Good Girls, Station 19, and Sydney to the Max to name but a few.

In addition, Juliet became the youngest nominee for an Annie Award, gaining recognition for voicing the character of Sally Squirrel in the Animated TV/Broadcast Production of Pete the Cat.

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

Photo: NBC

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Byrne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Byrne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Photo:

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

So, what do you think about Lane Davies returning to GH to play an attorney in Alexis’ orbit? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
