On Thursday’s episode of General Hospital, viewers saw the pick-up of Wednesday’s cliffhanger which saw Sabrina’s (Teresa Castillo) lifeless body on the hospital room floor.  As the story progressed, Michael (Chad Duell), Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) and finally Tracy (Jane Elliot) learned that Nurse Sabrina Santiago was murdered, strangled to death.  However, they do not know it’s DA Hornsby (Richard Burgi) who perpetrated the deed!

This evening, Teresa Castillo said her public farewells to her fans and some important GH creatives,   First Castillo took to Instragram sharing a split image of herself and the “Ugly Betty’ version of Sabrina, relating: “4 years ago, this girl walked into the halls of General Hospital and her life was forever changed. Thanks to the amazing cast and crew for a fantastic run. And a special thanks to all you incredible die-hard soap fans for showering me with your love. You guys are the best!”

On Twitter, Castillo thanked some important behind the scenes personnel responsible for bringing her to GH! First, former head writer, Ron Carlivati: “Thank you @carlivatiron for creating such a fun character. It was an honor bringing her to life. #GH”

Next, EP Frank Valentini whom Teresa expressed,”Thank you @valentinifrank for believing in me, for fighting for me and for all your kindness to me over the last 4 years.”  Finally, GH casting director Mark Teschner;  “And to #MarkTeschner for finding me!!! I had a blast playing Sabrina. Thank you, thank you.

So, what do you think about the sentiments and thank you’s shared by Teresa on social media?  Sad to see her go? Comment below!

Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) I liked her .. too bad her return was to be killed..
Q- who gets her son Teddy??
And—
Teresa — gone
Bryan — gone
Tyler — gone

(Paul/character soon to be gone

Looks like GH is doing a Days housecleaning..
Letting go of old bringing in new…
I hope next out the door will be J&S ..

CAN’T BELIEVE GH WOULD BRING HER BACK JUST TO TURN AROUND AND LET HER GO. SHE WAS A TERRIFIC ACTRESS AND SHE MADE YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING WAS REAL. EVERYONE I KNOW THAT WATCHES THE SHOW ALL FEELS THE SAME. SHE IS GOING TO BE MISSED SO MUCH. EVEN IF SHE IS PREGNANT AGAIN (THAT’S THE GOSSIP) THAT WOULD NOT BE A REASON TO FIRE HER. IF THAT IS WHY SHE’S GONE SHE HAS A GREAT LAW SUITE AGAINST GH. THERESA YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED. PLEASE POST WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO NEXT. I WILL BE SURE TO WATCH.

Completely senseless. And some idiotic and despicable characters are still on screen. GH, dead but for the dying

I liked Sabrina, killing her off was senseless. Teresa is a good actress, whomever she was paired with she had chemistry. I was very disappointed when they broke up Sabrina and Patrick. I was happy when Sabrina and Michael got back together, why kill her off. Sorry to see Sabrina go feels like I lost a friend.

If they (GH exec) keep making moves like this where will GH be? too many great actors have been leaving Not good, I will miss all been watching a long time SMH

What a class act, Teresa you will be greatly missed. I loved Sabrina, and really enjoyed scenes with Emma, even when Patrick and Sabrina ended things. Sabrina had a great heart, loving Emma even upon Robin’s return. I’m very disappointed that the show felt it was necessary to kill off a truly loving character. I adored her “ugly Betty” introduction, and didn’t care for the major make-up, but it a soap, and to have a Latina character on the soap was very important. Thank you Teresa for making many fans love you, you are a superb actress, I wish the show could have kept Sabrina true to her original persona, and slowly developed her into that instant make-over. Bless you and your family. You will get better work out there! I will miss Sabrina and Felix’s friendship, too. And, let’s not forget, the terrific scenes she and Jason Thompson had when they were losing their infant son, Gabriel. Wishing you well, Teresa.

*make-over / (not: make-up)

You will enjoy today’s episode of flashbacks of Felix and her relationship the one thing they did today that was done well.

I’m SO not happy with this story line! It should have been Nurse Amy!

Couldn’t agree more.

i hope Amy is next…

Kiki please…

What a terrible spoil alert! I haven’t seen Wed, Thur … I will miss her she was great and I wanted great things for Sabrina and Michael! I just pray that they are not letting go of GH,.. If anyone remembers “Loving”. They started murdering all key players and the next thing you know all actors were dead… Please don’t murder our cast ! Love my GH!

When a woman reads a romance novel, she envisions herself in the pages of the book. Just an average person surrounded by beauty and being chased by some rather hunky men.

That is what Sabrina was to me.

She was every girl. A relatable human being with issues and insecurities but tried her best to overcome them with the help of her friends. I said in an earlier post that she was like Marcy on OLTL. She didn’t fit into that stereotypical mold of a person that would be on a soap. She was a cute girl in a room full of vixens. Believe you me, General Hospital has a lot of vixens to the point that it is suffocating. Sabrina was refreshing and that is what made her special. You just look at her and think that even with my frizzed out hair, glasses, and constantly tripping over my 2 feet I too can have a man like Patrick Drake, Milo, or Carlos Riveria chase after me. I don’t have to be drop dead beautiful. I can still be my cute self and still get a handsome boyfriend. Every soap needs at least 1 character like that. For GH, Sabrina was that character. I’m gonna miss that. I’m gonna miss her.

Just add Sabrina to the laundry list of people that Emma has to mourn this year.

You know what the sad thing is? Sabrina’s death will be pointless because Paul will never pay for his crimes.

So true! Well said!

I totally agree about : Theresa Castillo’ Sabrina… a relatable human being

from a male point of view… I loved her because she wasn’t Barbie doll
I like that she was sensitive… which made me root for her

I never found her hesitation and not finding the right words to express herself… cumbersome… did the ugly betty mode out of the gate help ? OK

she drove her character as best she did

she was vilified often… she never crumbled

I liked her inner strength she imbued in her character

the endless lists and recriminations I’d throw at the production team for letting her go… and for many other things… do not fall on deaf ears?

it’s always so easy to assuage the audience… that the show must go on

but a character that caught on and resonated… gets weary… because we are force fed drivel…

it’s off to the races on all message boards… YIKES

I HOPE Paul pays for this crime…. I’m glad Morgan is leaving the Corinthos’… sounds immature… but it’s my protest @GH for continuing to feature the lamest family

Nicholas may have been the “only” Cassadine… SO WHAT ?!?! his 20 plus years as a legacy character … gone… just like that ? for what purpose was he fired ? he deserved to be rewarded for keeping this show afloat.

RIP : Morgan / Paul / Sabrina / Nicholas

i’m going to miss them … these 4 characters added more life to the show…

whoopee ! it’s time for more Sonny / Carly / Jason / Sam / Alexis

no comparison

I love the sentiments behind your post Cheryl, except Sabrina was physically beautiful even in her “ugly Betty” mode. They couldn’t really hide Teresa’s beauty without makeup or prosthetics which they didn’t use. To be honest, after her transformation I preferred her with her beautiful curly hair instead of straight… And, to be fair, Patrick did fall for Brit’s beauty and sexuality…it was only after Sabrina upped her game that he took notice of her in that way. So “ugly Betty” on GH didn’t get her man…the beauty underneath…her physical makeover and her warm personality got the man.

But I do get what you’re saying. Once transformed, her goodness meant more to Patrick than Britt’s hold on him physically…which is a desired outcome both sexes hope for in life…that someone would see him or her for the good person they are.

Now Marcie on OLTL is more in keeping with the “average” non-beauty gets the guy fantasy come true that you’re speaking of. Her physical presence is as the actress is…cute but not the type fantasy romance, or soaps, are made of. It takes a strong confidence in oneself…I always thought that about many actors who respond to casting calls for a certain “less than attractive” look…to play a role so close to one’s own reality.

Well said! She was a breath of fresh air.

Once again the writers do not know how to write for thier charactors. Killing off Children , popular people such as sabrina, If I were them I would wake her from
the dead you idiots and learn how to write for Soap opera favorites. There was
plenty you could have written. A triangle with the new girl how stupid they are.
I have really had enough of them killing off children and very popular people. I am
done with General Hospital your writers are idiots. Even I would bring her back
that she was working with the police to catch the killer and wanted it to look like she
was dead. Get rid of you writer they stink. Bring back Laura was genuis , getting
rid of the gentlemen that played Nicholas was another stupid move. No one can
replace him. Pay him the money and get rid of other people who have no real purpose
at GH.

They have the dumbest police department and where are security cameras ?

@k/kay…Not to mention when would any competent individual leading a murder investigation allow personal access to the body of the deceased so that loved ones could repeatedly touch and fawn over the dearly departed when vital physical evidence could be destroyed in the process???? That whole sad sack mopefest with Mikey and the ring made me wince, then Tracy and Felix had to join in. It would serve the idiotic PCPD right if whatever traces of Paul may have remained on that corpse be lost for good….especially since I don’t want to see Richard Burgi’s Paul be the next to leave GH!

Emmy winners always want more money since they won, the show cant do it.

you are kidding, why can’t they pay him. When they win Emmy’s they
deserve it.

Didn’t like her, till I met her the first yr she started. She was so awesome, sweet, & very talented with a huge appreciation for her job and us fans. I really wish she could stay on, especially since bringing back Parrisi as the baby’s uncle! I want more “Saaaaaa…brin-ah”!!!

I’m quite saddened by this news. I really like her as a person and her character on General Hospital. I was also looking forward to seeing her working with Jeffery Vincent Parise, again. I thought that they had good chemistry between them and it would’ve been a good story line with Sabrina, Joe, and Michael. Good Luck Teresa!!! You will be missed………

Teresa seems like a nice lady……but not sad to see the character go. She just never worked with anyone. And the Ugly Betty storyline was lame. I think when Ron C. was at GH, he just could never accept that his Disney Princess idea failed. Thank goodness FV made the decision to end the character.

More Genie, Anna Tristan, Jon, Lynn, Kristina W., John J., Kin & Jane E. The real legacies of GH.

It wasn’t Frank’s decision. He was fighting for her to not be killed. I liked Sabrina and will miss her. I was looking forward to Michael and Sabrina getting together and becoming a super couple. It sucks that Michael has lost two girlfriends now to death. And poor Felix. Guess that’s one less reason to use his character.

Oh I hope not. I love Felix! With Sabrina unfortunately gone, Felix is one of the few remaining good-hearted, not to mention funny, fun, sassy, characters left!.

I’m confused as to why they killed her off. Stupid decision.

i guess security cameras at the hospital arent working…

Nor anyone’s EARS–did you hear Sabrina’s screams?! 🙂

Yes…maybe they thought it was just a monkey being tested on in the lab-heard the same type-scream from the monkeys at the zoo…well, i told them not to look at me-lol

…unless you are on the roof of GH, then the cameras seem to work just swell!

I’m sorry to see her go.

She’s a sweetheart and she has class but i am pissed that they killed her off.

This person never made any sense to me.

she is a class act, will miss her and tbe character big time. Huge mistake killing her.off and i am not watching GH right now! soory to the other actors, hut Brit is gone my 2 favorite actress gone!

Does it seem to anyone else that ABC might be trying to kill GH? The writing has been all over the place this year, but lately it just seems to have fallen off a cliff. I know Sabrina was not the most popular character to ever grace the halls of General Hospital, but her death seemed rather, um, rushed and slapdash considering the fact that the writing seemed to be setting up a new triangle with her, Michael, and Carlos’s look-a-like doctor brother, Joe. Also, poor Teddy has now been orphaned. You can’t tell me that was the plan all along.

Really it does not make since.MIchael was about to ask her to marry him,She just got her job back at GH and she has Teddy now yall have Sabrina killed off why.

Why kill Sabrina off why not the other nurse the blonde hair.
Should have kept her for more seasons

Teresa is such a classy woman!! Will miss her tremendously. Her and Felix had one of the best friendships in daytime.
Best of luck, Teresa–hope to see you soon!

This household is beyond sad to see the character of Sabrina leave the program. We only hope there is a real and definite storyline point to this decision.

Teresa Castillo has impressed us over these past years and we look forward to seeing her in other projects. We thank her for her graciousness online and wish her well.

I think it’s horrible! I don’t know what the hell is happening at Gh but they need to get it together! We are losing our fabulous actors when we need to lose the management! We lost SB, TG, BA, almost RH, now TC, Teresa and Bryan. Gh is not the Gh I love. Too many fan favorites are leaving. GH is sinking!

I definitely appreciated her on GH. I’m sorry the writers took this direction with her character. Why couldn’t it have been Amy? Ugh! It’s like we have to hit the reset button for Michael and Joe and Felix. Now Tracy’s only friend is gone, too. See all the connections you just shattered, dear writers? Senseless.

I Will miss you Teresa Castillo! (Sabrina) Stupid move for General Hospital. It could have been many other character, but they always do the opposite of what fan’s want! Hey, TPTB over at GH, I know you are busy, but this is the age of INFORMATION, don’t you people read what fan’s like and so on….Good Luck Teresa, you have a beautiful family, a good heart, and you will be fine I am sure!
LOVE ROBIN, a fan since your first day!

No, I doubt that was the plan all along…. They probably wanted to get rid of her sooner but you can not fire a pregnant woman. Teresa not only pregnant once but TWICE. …. The law states that you can not fire or let go a pregnant woman/and then there is Maternity leave.. Timing was off (meaning the network would be looking at a lawsuit if they let her go then). And if you noticed the amount of times she has been on since she returned from maternity leave this last time around- It seems awfully convenient that they planned on letting her go the moment she came back. You can count the amount of times she has been on since she returned.
I wish Teresa luck in her in her future endeavors.

Sorry to see her go. I was hoping for her and Michael to get married and live in the Quartermaine mansion and live happily ever after (for a few months, anyway).

Nice actress…i just didnt like the character…they should had kept her as this geeky nurse who is gossipy with Felix and on recurring status-would had worked better…but that princess makeover and pairing with Patrick just did not work…hey, maybe she will show up on Y&R as a new love interest for Billy-lol

Hey Jimh (leave it to beaver),
I like your “monkey screaming in a lab” explanation above re why no one heard Sabrina’s screams–LOL!

I always liked Sabrina and the actress did a great job. I am sad to see her leave, but if she is leaving to look after her kids it is understandable.

The one thing that makes me laugh is all the people commenting saying Sabrina did not have to be killed off. These are the same people who complained about the character being on too much over and over again.

I will miss her but as they say in soaps they can always come back!

I loved her. Why would you want to kill her off.?? She was awesome with Michael but why didn’t you give them a chance. Poor judgement!!!! Bring her back!!!!!

Writers, you made a horrible decision in killing Sabrina’s character. I’m a 36 year fan until NOW !!!!

So sad to see the only Latina on the show given such a tragic exit. Seems almost like a telanovela…except for…. I wonder who they will pair Michael with? Hmm.

I WAS GLAD TO SEE HER BACK, NOW, SHE IS GONE. A FEEL A LOSS. I PRAY THE NEXT JOB SHE HAS WILL VALUE HER AND MAKE HER PERMANENT. THANK YOU

Typical firing, going for story, to hell with the talent, to hell with the fans!!

The show can’t keep every single character brought on for a story that has reached its conclusion. The cast is way too large even now. Sabrina fulfilled her storyline and the time for her to go had long since passed.

I am SO disappointed that Shelly and Jean decided to kill Sabrina. I liked the character and Teresa Castillo from the beginning and thought she did a great job. Sabrina wasn’t the cookie-cutter bad girl or vixen; she was everyone’s friend, especially Felix’s. Those flashback scenes between Felix and Sabrina on today’s show were beautiful, and reminded us of the special relationship they had, and likely the actors as well.

I’m very frustrated at the writing lately, and each episode seems to take forever to watch, instead of seeming to fly by the way they did in the 1980s when I first began watching the show. Jean and Shelly, in one of their first interviews, said they wanted to bring the focus back to the hospital. So what do they do? They killed off one of the few nurses that the audience sees, and one which most of us actually like! And they killed her off shortly after Teresa returned from her second maternity leave. I just don’t get it. And, yes, who will take care of Teddy now?

I wish this lovely young actress, wife and mom the very best. I hope she knows how much she’ll be missed by the majority of us who watch G.H. every day. She didn’t deserve this slap in the face by the writers and whoever else was responsible.
a long-time fan in southern Ontario, Canada

Her storyline stopped being interesting after the whole Patrick thing. I’m sure she’s a lovely woman, wish her the best. Hoping tptb will hone in on core characters and families! Please oh please!

Yes, I agree–hone in on core characters and families–that’ll keep the writers more than busy! And keep the viewers happy.

I’ll miss Sabrina; Sonny’s character should have been killed!

I agree.

Bravo! So many possibilities with Sabrina!

It was a total waste to bring Sabrina back only to kill her. In her messages she’s such a class act she didn’t tell why or who made this decision. On the other hand she didn’t say, ” I wanted time home to raise my babies….” etc. I am very upset that they would have a second woman Michael loves killed and someone who Tracy likes so much. Such a chemistry between Teresa and Jane elliot as friends. I loved that. And Sabrina and Felix- how often do you see realistic male/female platonic friendships on soaps- or TV for that matter? I am so sorry to see this character go.

I can’t see the point of any of this serial killer storyline. Paul is the killer ?? Sabrina is murdered ?? Next Julian will walk free ! I thought they were going back to the hospital more – Sabrina would have been an asset to the scene there. At least Monica is still alive.

so sad to see her go why did she leave ah I wish her well really good actress and fit so much with micheal

ok you have 2 Emmy winners, Tyler and Bryan, both want big raises. So u give give in to them, who’s salaries do u cut or eliminate to make up the difference? Each year budget is less, remember.

Hate to see her go she played such a good part and now it’s hard to cope with her not being on the show. Wish you nothing but the best!

Can ‘t believe it, big mistake! One of my favorites, excellent actress. Why do the good ones have to go?

Big mistake, she is an excellent actress! Why does G H ha e vet rid of the good ones?

The writing has been terrible. The whole Dr killer in hospital is so unwatchable. A hospital that doesn’t have security cameras on each floor. They have no clue. Plus Julian her one story line played out to death. Have hard time watching.

WHY cant GH pay it? Their budget is cut each year. Say 5 actors want a raise from winning Emmys. Where do they make up that money? By cutting others salaries, or firing other actors? There isnt money to give them more.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

By

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.
