Exited Teresa Castillo Posts Farewell To GH Fans With Special Thanks To 3 Gents Behind The Scenes!

On Thursday’s episode of General Hospital, viewers saw the pick-up of Wednesday’s cliffhanger which saw Sabrina’s (Teresa Castillo) lifeless body on the hospital room floor.  As the story progressed, Michael (Chad Duell), Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) and finally Tracy (Jane Elliot) learned that Nurse Sabrina Santiago was murdered, strangled to death.  However, they do not know it’s DA Hornsby (Richard Burgi) who perpetrated the deed!

This evening, Teresa Castillo said her public farewells to her fans and some important GH creatives,   First Castillo took to Instragram sharing a split image of herself and the “Ugly Betty’ version of Sabrina, relating: “4 years ago, this girl walked into the halls of General Hospital and her life was forever changed. Thanks to the amazing cast and crew for a fantastic run. And a special thanks to all you incredible die-hard soap fans for showering me with your love. You guys are the best!”

On Twitter, Castillo thanked some important behind the scenes personnel responsible for bringing her to GH! First, former head writer, Ron Carlivati: “Thank you @carlivatiron for creating such a fun character. It was an honor bringing her to life. #GH”

Next, EP Frank Valentini whom Teresa expressed,”Thank you @valentinifrank for believing in me, for fighting for me and for all your kindness to me over the last 4 years.”  Finally, GH casting director Mark Teschner;  “And to #MarkTeschner for finding me!!! I had a blast playing Sabrina. Thank you, thank you.

So, what do you think about the sentiments and thank you’s shared by Teresa on social media?  Sad to see her go? Comment below!

CAN’T BELIEVE GH WOULD BRING HER BACK JUST TO TURN AROUND AND LET HER GO. SHE WAS A TERRIFIC ACTRESS AND SHE MADE YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING WAS REAL. EVERYONE I KNOW THAT WATCHES THE SHOW ALL FEELS THE SAME. SHE IS GOING TO BE MISSED SO MUCH. EVEN IF SHE IS PREGNANT AGAIN (THAT’S THE GOSSIP) THAT WOULD NOT BE A REASON TO FIRE HER. IF THAT IS WHY SHE’S GONE SHE HAS A GREAT LAW SUITE AGAINST GH. THERESA YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED. PLEASE POST WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO NEXT. I WILL BE SURE TO WATCH.

I liked Sabrina, killing her off was senseless. Teresa is a good actress, whomever she was paired with she had chemistry. I was very disappointed when they broke up Sabrina and Patrick. I was happy when Sabrina and Michael got back together, why kill her off. Sorry to see Sabrina go feels like I lost a friend.

What a class act, Teresa you will be greatly missed. I loved Sabrina, and really enjoyed scenes with Emma, even when Patrick and Sabrina ended things. Sabrina had a great heart, loving Emma even upon Robin’s return. I’m very disappointed that the show felt it was necessary to kill off a truly loving character. I adored her “ugly Betty” introduction, and didn’t care for the major make-up, but it a soap, and to have a Latina character on the soap was very important. Thank you Teresa for making many fans love you, you are a superb actress, I wish the… Read more »

What a terrible spoil alert! I haven’t seen Wed, Thur … I will miss her she was great and I wanted great things for Sabrina and Michael! I just pray that they are not letting go of GH,.. If anyone remembers “Loving”. They started murdering all key players and the next thing you know all actors were dead… Please don’t murder our cast ! Love my GH!

When a woman reads a romance novel, she envisions herself in the pages of the book. Just an average person surrounded by beauty and being chased by some rather hunky men. That is what Sabrina was to me. She was every girl. A relatable human being with issues and insecurities but tried her best to overcome them with the help of her friends. I said in an earlier post that she was like Marcy on OLTL. She didn’t fit into that stereotypical mold of a person that would be on a soap. She was a cute girl in a room… Read more »

I totally agree about : Theresa Castillo’ Sabrina… a relatable human being from a male point of view… I loved her because she wasn’t Barbie doll I like that she was sensitive… which made me root for her I never found her hesitation and not finding the right words to express herself… cumbersome… did the ugly betty mode out of the gate help ? OK she drove her character as best she did she was vilified often… she never crumbled I liked her inner strength she imbued in her character the endless lists and recriminations I’d throw at the production… Read more »

I love the sentiments behind your post Cheryl, except Sabrina was physically beautiful even in her “ugly Betty” mode. They couldn’t really hide Teresa’s beauty without makeup or prosthetics which they didn’t use. To be honest, after her transformation I preferred her with her beautiful curly hair instead of straight… And, to be fair, Patrick did fall for Brit’s beauty and sexuality…it was only after Sabrina upped her game that he took notice of her in that way. So “ugly Betty” on GH didn’t get her man…the beauty underneath…her physical makeover and her warm personality got the man. But I… Read more »

Once again the writers do not know how to write for thier charactors. Killing off Children , popular people such as sabrina, If I were them I would wake her from the dead you idiots and learn how to write for Soap opera favorites. There was plenty you could have written. A triangle with the new girl how stupid they are. I have really had enough of them killing off children and very popular people. @k/kay…Not to mention when would any competent individual leading a murder investigation allow personal access to the body of the deceased so that loved ones could repeatedly touch and fawn over the dearly departed when vital physical evidence could be destroyed in the process???? That whole sad sack mopefest with Mikey and the ring made me wince, then Tracy and Felix had to join in. It would serve the idiotic PCPD right if whatever traces of Paul may have remained on that corpse be lost for good….especially since I don’t want to see Richard Burgi’s Paul be the next to… Read more »

I’m quite saddened by this news. I really like her as a person and her character on General Hospital. I was also looking forward to seeing her working with Jeffery Vincent Parise, again. I thought that they had good chemistry between them and it would’ve been a good story line with Sabrina, Joe, and Michael. Good Luck Teresa!!! You will be missed………

Teresa seems like a nice lady……but not sad to see the character go. She just never worked with anyone. And the Ugly Betty storyline was lame. I think when Ron C. was at GH, he just could never accept that his Disney Princess idea failed. Thank goodness FV made the decision to end the character.

More Genie, Anna Tristan, Jon, Lynn, Kristina W., John J., Kin & Jane E. The real legacies of GH.

It wasn’t Frank’s decision. He was fighting for her to not be killed. I liked Sabrina and will miss her. I was looking forward to Michael and Sabrina getting together and becoming a super couple. It sucks that Michael has lost two girlfriends now to death. And poor Felix. Guess that’s one less reason to use his character.

Does it seem to anyone else that ABC might be trying to kill GH? The writing has been all over the place this year, but lately it just seems to have fallen off a cliff. I know Sabrina was not the most popular character to ever grace the halls of General Hospital, but her death seemed rather, um, rushed and slapdash considering the fact that the writing seemed to be setting up a new triangle with her, Michael, and Carlos’s look-a-like doctor brother, Joe. Also, poor Teddy has now been orphaned. You can’t tell me that was the plan all… Read more »

I definitely appreciated her on GH. I’m sorry the writers took this direction with her character. Why couldn’t it have been Amy? Ugh! No, I doubt that was the plan all along…. They probably wanted to get rid of her sooner but you can not fire a pregnant woman. Teresa not only pregnant once but TWICE. …. The law states that you can not fire or let go a pregnant woman/and then there is Maternity leave.. Timing was off (meaning the network would be looking at a lawsuit if they let her go then). And if you noticed the amount of times she has been on since she returned from maternity leave this last time around- It seems awfully convenient that they planned… Read more »

I always liked Sabrina and the actress did a great job. I am sad to see her leave, but if she is leaving to look after her kids it is understandable.

The one thing that makes me laugh is all the people commenting saying Sabrina did not have to be killed off. These are the same people who complained about the character being on too much over and over again.

The show can’t keep every single character brought on for a story that has reached its conclusion. The cast is way too large even now. Sabrina fulfilled her storyline and the time for her to go had long since passed.

I am SO disappointed that Shelly and Jean decided to kill Sabrina. I liked the character and Teresa Castillo from the beginning and thought she did a great job. Sabrina wasn’t the cookie-cutter bad girl or vixen; she was everyone’s friend, especially Felix’s. Those flashback scenes between Felix and Sabrina on today’s show were beautiful, and reminded us of the special relationship they had, and likely the actors as well. I’m very frustrated at the writing lately, and each episode seems to take forever to watch, instead of seeming to fly by the way they did in the 1980s when… Read more »

It was a total waste to bring Sabrina back only to kill her. In her messages she’s such a class act she didn’t tell why or who made this decision. On the other hand she didn’t say, ” I wanted time home to raise my babies….” etc. I am very upset that they would have a second woman Michael loves killed and someone who Tracy likes so much. WHY cant GH pay it? Their budget is cut each year. Say 5 actors want a raise from winning Emmys. Where do they make up that money? By cutting others salaries, or firing other actors? There isnt money to give them more.

GH’s Gavin Houston Teases How Zeke’s Love Life Is About to Take an Unexpected Turn

Next week on General Hospital, Gavin Houston returns as Portia’s (Brooke Kerr) brother, Zeke.  When viewers last saw Zeke, he was in Port Charles for Portia’a wedding to Curtis (Donnell Turner) back in February.

Photo: ABC

Fast-forward to June and Zeke is back. However, from the looks of it, Zeke might find love this time around, or is it something more casual?

According to preview in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, when Zeke settles in at the Metro Court he grabs a drink at the pool, and while there sees a very attractive woman.

Photo: ABC

Houston shared on the encounter, “He sees this attractive woman and tries to pick her up by being his fun-loving, charming self.  He buys her a drink and there is definitely some chemistry there.”

However, apparently this woman is someone who his sister, Portia, knows well.  The smart money is that he is hitting on Jordan, who has just walked out on a conversation with her ex-husband, Curtis.  This, following the two kissing and Curtis going back to his marriage with Zeke’s sister. But could the woman Zeke is impressed by be someone else?

Share your thoughts on Zeke’s return, and who you think will be the woman he is interested in via the comment section below.

Pride Month Celebrating LGBTQ+ Soap Supercouples: Nuke, Kish, Otalia & WilSon … Which Stands the Test of Time?

June is Pride Month, the time when across the U.S and the world there are celebrations and commemorations to recognize all who identify as LGBTQ and their allies.

Daytime soap operas have had a rocky road when it comes to the representation of same-sex couples.  The soaps have been at one time leaders in portraying key social issues of our time, as well as treading lightly on other subjects, as to its concerns to ‘turn-off’ its core audiences.

When you look back at the groundbreaking first same-sex weddings, and the first gay kiss, the soaps have come far in some ways in their representations of gay characters, but there is always work to be done to serve and to shed light on the under-represented.

As we reflect back to the then and the now, which LGBTQ soap supercouple remains your favorite and had made a lasting impact? Let’s take a look at four duos who captivated many viewers.

Nuke  – Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer – As the World Turns

Van Hansis (Luke) and Jake Silbermann (Noah) were a key part of the evolution of, and representation of LGBTQ character on the soaps.  ‘Nuke’, as they were known as, became the first gay male soap couple to share an on-screen kiss back in 2007.  ATWT also became known as the first soap to depict a fully realized romantic male couple as an integral part of the show.  There was plenty of backlash along the way for the long-awaited kiss to happen, but when it did, the show moved forward to tell their love story.

Otalia – Olivia Spencer and Natalia Rivera Aitoro – Guiding Light

When Crystal Chappell (Olivia) and Jessica Leccia (Natalia) began to play the love story of Otalia, they had to show their affection by a kiss on the head, or holding hands.  It took quite some time for GL to move forward to have two women, two moms, no less, share a lip lock. The complicated love story featured Natalia being conflicted to face her true romantic feelings for Olivia, because of her value system and religions upbringing, and that made this all the more riveting and frustrating at the same time.  In the end, the rabid fan base for this duo was so great that Chappell wound up creating her own series, Venice, to honor and serve them, remaining one of the LGBTQ communities greatest allies.

Kish – Kyle Lewis and Oliver Fish – One Life to Live

In 2009, One Life to Live’s Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) was an out lab tech in Llanview, who back in college had a relationship with Officer Oliver Fish (Scott Evans).  It imploded when Oliver denied he was gay.  For years, Oliver remained in the closet, before finally coming out to himself and Kyle.

Kish had been a big success with the media and One Life’s gay audience. LGBTQ-advocacy groups honored the couple and the story.  However, Kish was cut short when the network felt that the data showed that the storyline was not resonating with the show’s core audience.

WilSon – Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis – Days of our Lives

Days of our Lives delivered daytime’s first-ever gay male wedding in 2014, between Will (then played by Guy Wilson) and Sonny (then played by Freddie Smith).

In an interview with EW, Days of our Lives executive producer, Ken Corday shared on the union, “Will and Sonny have been together for a while and it was the natural progression of their love story. We didn’t feel like there was anything we could or couldn’t do, we treated them like any other couple on the canvas and continued to grow their romance as such.”

In addition, the coming out story of Will Horton was critically praised and noteworthy for the performances of Chandler Massey, who won three Daytime Emmys for his work in the Outstanding Younger Actor category 2012, 2013 and 2014.  Freddie Smith also won in the same category in 2015.  Will has been played over the years by Chandler Massey and Guy Wilson, while Sonny has been portrayed by Freddie Smith and Zach Tinker.

There have been several other key LGBTQ couples throughout the course of daytime history including All My Children’s Bianca (Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun). These two characters were involved in the first same-sex lesbian wedding on daytime. Problem was … Reese kissed Zach (Thorsten Kaye) before the wedding, making this infuriating for viewers at home.

Other notable LGBTQ couples through the years have included: Bianca and Maggie on All My Children, Mariah and Tessa of The Young and the Restless played bv Camryn Grimes and Cait Fairbanks, Maya and Rick on The Bold and the Beautiful, Lucas and Brad on General Hospital and others.

Which couple do you think has had the most lasting impact on the history of LGBTQ representation on daytime soap operas? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

GH’s Nicholas Chavez and Tabyana Ali to ‘Sprina’ Shippers: “Thank You For Not Only Being Fans, But Turning into Family”

The hottest young duo on daytime drama these days belongs to General Hospital.  The couple known as ‘Sprina’ played by Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) and Tabyana Ali (Trina), is being given plenty of non-stop intrigue and drama and romance, much to the delight of their fans, who just can’t get enough of them.

In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands everywhere Friday, Chavez and Ali weigh-in on all the latest developments and recent airshows including: the reading of Victor’s will, what to do about Esme and baby Ace, the action-adventure scenes in ‘Greenland’ and the Haunted Star, and most notably, that emotional leap from Trina into Spencer’s arms when he turned up alive!

Ali told SOD on her preparation for the moment: “I did a couple of jumps and held a baby, and that was about it!”

Courtesy/ABC

Chavez added, “That is my favorite ‘Sprina’ scene, Spencer is walking toward Trina and Trina breaks into a full sprint towards him, jumps into his arms and they kiss.  I’ve always wanted to do a moment like that, you know what I mean?” Ali said, “I really loved that scene, too. It was just so fulfilling.”

When addressing what each of them would like to say to their lively and constant fan base, Tabyana expressed; “I would just say we love you, we appreciate you, thank you for all of your support and thank you for not only being fans, but turning into family.”

Nick added, “I co-sign all of that. Every single word.”

So, if you are a ‘Sprina” fan, what makes this couple so special and swoon-worthy for you? What do you hope happens next for Trina and Spencer in story? Let us know in the comment section below.
