GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brando Dies … But Not From His Wounds

By Michael Fairman

On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, poor Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) was hit with yet another punch to the gut.  After losing her baby, Liam, back in December of 20201, she has now lost her husband, Brando (Johnny Wactor), in s shocking turn events that played out in Brando’s hospital room.

Finally coming to (following being ‘hooked’ by the mysterious figure) after surviving hours of surgery from his wounds, he goes coughs up blood and then goes into a massive seizure right in front of Sasha.

Panicked, Sasha calls for help, where Portia (Brook Kerr) and her team run in to try to save Brando.  Next, we get a montage of the love story of Brando and Sasha, which is never a good sign on soap operas – as it more often than not – signals the end of the line for a character.

After Portia is completely rattled by why Brando is dying when the surgery is a success, eventually he passes away.  Portia comes out of his hospital room and tells Sasha they did everything they could.  Just then, Brando’s mom, Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs) along with Nina (Cynthia Watros), come by and all the women are struck with heartbreaking grief.  Sonny (Maurice Benard) happens upon the scene and asks Portia what happened and she reveals there were sudden complications.

Wanting a moment alone to say goodbye to his cousin, Sonny (Maurice Benard) tells Brando to take care of Liam and Mike when he sees them in heaven. Sonny also promises to take care of Sasha and Gladys. Next, Sasha wants Sonny to go into Brando’s room with her, and they are joined by Nina and Gladys, who all stand over his bedside in tears.

Elsewhere, Portia finds Finn (Michael Easton) to look over Brando’s medical reports and case, and relates that Brando’s symptoms don’t track with what happened to him when he was brought into the ER and what happened in surgery.  She ponders if there is a more sinister explanation for his death, hoping Finn (even though he is an infectious disease doc) can help shed some light.

What did you think of GH’s decision to kill off Brando Corbin? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

When Sasha and Brando lost Liam, I didn’t write a comment on how well the two of them handled that story. Especially, Sofia Mattsson, the actress who plays Sasha. This time, I’m speaking out, Sofia crushed it! Imagine the high you are on when you feel as if your loved one is going to be okay and then, FLAT LINE, rock bottom, he or she is gone! She has grown on this show so much. It helps that they give her dramatic stories but she still has to express what is written in the script. She does a terrific job!

At the risk of sounding repetitious ( mentioned it on other site), someone shot Brando up with a lethal dose of something—-maybe intravenously? Who? So many people come to mind—Esme, Dex (as ordered by Michael?), the mob lady ( forgot her name); another mob family, Victor?

The big question here is whether the toxin was on the hook, or whether somebody snuck into Brando’s hospital room later and shot something in his IV. Considering his room seemed to be under constant surveillance, the latter seems unlikely. So the theory here is that the “hooker” wanted to make sure their next victim (which was supposed to be Joss) died… and not survived the hooking itself, as Ava did. So, add a little poison to the stab wound, and mission accomplished, apparently.

Only flaw in that scenario is that one would assume there was some bloodwork done on Brando while he was still alive, which should have shown any such toxins present. And there’s also the fact that Brando probably lost a lot of his own blood between the scene of the stabbing and the GH operating room, so by the time his blood supply was replaced by transfusions, any toxins from the hook should have been seriously diluted if not eliminated entirely.

So in other words…. sloppy writing again.

You are right, as usual, Satan. I thought the latter, but today, it was revealed that the hook was laced with poison.
Also, my theory of Michael as a suspect fizzled. He would not hurt his own sister.
My question is—why did TPTB eliminate Johnny/Brando? Is Sofia next? She’s amazing!! And, of course, she would have to be paired with someone because acvording to these writers, women cannot exist without men—Actually, the opposite is not only true, but factual. LOL. I’m serious. I tell my husband all the time. How would he survive if I were not there to find his keys, Ray Bans, and wallet?

As much as I would like to see Sasha stick around… I don’t know how much she can take in such a short time before going off the deep end completely. Losing a kid & a husband within a matter of months…accidentally killing somebody in between, while running from some tabloid media scum that won’t leave her alone… and then having public meltdowns, fueled by those same tabloid scum. How do you come back from all of that??

Now on the other horn…. Gladys Corbin can leave now. She’s already worn out her welcome, and with Brando gone, there’s no reason to keep her around anymore

Yeah—no human could physically, mentally and emotionally weather such tragedies simultenously. It’s REAL–i went through my own dark days when my baby went to heaven.
Nonetheless, let’s give the writers a little credit hoping they can turn this hurt into determination—Have Sasha’s grief be the incentive, her strength to conquer her anguish. One never forgets–Ever!!
-She may disappear for a bit to get the help she needs. But, I truly want her to stay.

My guess is that they will pair Sasha with Cody since Britt/Kelly is soon departing as well. I actually love both Brando and Britt so I’m sad to see them leave the GH canvas.

Good guess, Margherita. But, I hope not!! I have yet to get into this guy. Me no like. LOL.

Celia, what do you think of Ms. Wu? I think she’s a kick…evil but fun (unlike B&B’s Sheila). The actress looks like she’s having a ball playing her. How about a faceoff between Liesl and Wu? Must-see viewing!

Thanks for reminding me of Ms Wu’s name, Soaphound. I’m with you–she’s a kick. Her semi-smiles “speak” volumes–she’s small but soo big in character. Ce’est moi!!–LOL.
I love watching her—and, I anticipate her next words with that mocking twindle in her eye—as if to say; “just wait and see”.
Liesl and Wu? It could go both ways—sparring until they run out of insults and threats–or they could become best friends, as peculiar as they both are. This I’d love to see. But, my friend, we need writers with a solid, original imagination instead of stirring the same caca. As my nonno-in-law says, “…the more you stir it, the more it stinks”.

Celia, I know you are in touch with nostalgia so you are probably familiar with the old saying from Hollywood, “Getting the Hook!” Brando wasn’t the first character in line, on my list to get the “Hook!” From first to last, he we go!

1.Curtis’s father
2.Aunt “Hella!”
3.Dex
4. The latest incarnation of “Franco!”
5. Cody
6. And, as always, Finn!

Yes—I am in touch with “nostalgia” which goes way past by birth date. Thanks to my maternal grandmother with whom my siblings and I spent most of our time growing up ( working parents).
Double yes on all the characters on the list, except for Aunt Stella. I love both the actress and character. She’s also on the Sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola”. Nonetheless, she is not needed except to place Curtis within a loving family circle. I call such as she “shelf characters”. They’re taken down when needed for a strategic plot-line.

Okay C, even great minds can disagree! I’ll give you that one. The one on my list I really dont like is Curtis’s father but he is recurring so its not a big deal. As I told you before, I’m just happy to still have GH on the air!

I know, T—having grown up ( since I was 4) watching soaps, it will be a day of mourning when they all disappear.
If only Shay would “join the discussion”, once in a while, Timmmy—-miss the three of us!!❤️

Whatever became of Shay? I miss her, as well. Does Nelle or Esme have her locked up somewhere???

LOL—I hope she’s ok—I also, miss Jim—❤️

Robert Gossett (Marshall) is actually on contract. Appears less than some recurring actors, but still on contract.

I stand corrected. Sorry about that. Another soap site had him listed as recurring.

Another loving couple bites the dust on GH. It’s getting really irksome to see what they did to Roger Howarth and now Johnny Wactor. I know it’s a soap, but come on, give us a break.

I really liked Brando and Johnny Wactor’s portrayal of him so GH jumped the shark with this one.

“Jumping the shark” doesn’t apply in this instance. That means when a show does something so strange that it doesn’t fit with the normal confines (ie Fonzie jumping a shark on his motorcycle).

Brando dying at the hands of a presumed serial killer is standard soap fare.

The irony here is that Happy Days – as a show didn’t even rhetorically “jump the shark” when Fonzie literally jumped the shark. That moment came later, when Fonzie – a high school dropout – became a high school TEACHER. And that was also about the same time Ted McGinley joined the cast, which is the kiss of death for any TV show.

Geesh! I think it was a big mistake. Unless the actor who played Brando wanted out, it just really sucks! I heard somewhere else that this is all fake to get Brando somewhere safe. However, I doubt that now.

With him gone, they night as well cut a few other people connected to him and save money for other things.

I always thought Brando was a “replacement” type character for Morgan. Now he’s gone, too. Shame.

Rodd
I have been wondering what the real reason Is for getting rid of Brando and think but hope this isn’t true that maybe they want Sasha for Michael if and when Willow doesn’t make it. She’s really pushing her luck where her life is concerned and why all this need to keep this very important news from Michael?

Rodd,
I completely agree! It sounds like he wants to leave? There is no reason to kill off such a popular character.

The story has thumb down, Seriously they could of gotten rid of other characters to save money. Big disappointment. My Opinion GH it’s time to let the Character of Alexis go bye bye, Have her write her new column and Jack the ripper will send her to the nut house with LuLu. So sick of this actress character/story.

I think that in a world where there is already so much pain we needed Brando, a truly good human. This was cruel to all of us who look to GH as an escape. They need to bring him back – say it was a nightmare and he wakes up – something! Really cruel, GH. Poorly done.

I completely agree, Elizabeth. Brando was a genuinely kind soul…unlike Michael, Sonny, Carly, etc. There are so many other places they could have saved money; do we REALLY need Fin or Christina or Aunt Stella or Drew, etc.? And how much is Sasha supposed to take?

I know. Do the writers hate Sasha or what?

Oh, my, Soaphound— Get rid of Michael. Carly and Sonny? They’re royalty!! NOT!! I wish!! They could have let a less desirable character go if budgeting were the issue.
Drew? He’s so forgettable.
I only like a handful of characters—Even Portia ( or is it Ophelia?—LOL) gets on my nerves with her halting way of speaking. If that weren’t enough, the name Robinson is suggestive to boot.
Did you take a look at Chase coming alive in Brook Lynn’s delicious fantasy?? Did you notice the pompadour? I was “kinda” waiting for him to do an Elvis hip gyration. He’s so hot—so beautiful. Alack!!

Gracious, Celia, I could spend a week in Chase’s hair alone…let alone that face, that smile, that body. More importantly, he’s a sweet, decent man which makes him even more desirable. I didn’t even mind the song he performed today…a better selection than the one he did at FLOATING RIB. Imagine if he got hold of a REAL romantic song like FLY ME TO THE MOON or AS TIME GOES BY? He could singlehandedly bring song standards onto soaps.

Oh, yeah–“Fly Me To The Moon” is great, but I’d like to be flown to the sun–feel the fire, burn and melt!! LOL–I’d love to see the wild side of Chase—“Paradise By The Dashboard Light”.I’m a rocker at heart—love the psychedelic sound of the 60’s –Hurdy-Gurdy Man ( Donovan)– IN A GADDA DA VIDA ( Iron Butterfly) –Spirit In The Sky ( Norman Greenbaum) etc–but, my always and forever favorite? QUEEN–every song is a treat. I love Freddie even in death., I wish I had known him–such a tortured soul–RIP. Born too late!!
I can actually envision Chase singing any of these songs. But, his best would be an Elvis impersonator. —or Chris Isaak’s sexy tone in “Wicked Games”.
Both Josh and Amanda are married, I think—So, they need to keep it tame. Plus, I assume there are certain lines which cannot be crossed on soaps?
To be honest, I could never be martied to an actor. i don’t know how their spouses/ partners do it.

You don’t need to go all the way to the sun to feel the fire & burn!!

LOL—Oh, yeah—I know!! Trust me, I know!! But, Satan, I do believe we’re on two different wavelengths. You say HELL—I say HEAVEN on fiery earth!!‍♀️

Celia and Soaphound…Love some of the songs you mentioned. Like to add Bowie and Freddie duet “Under Pressure.” I recently moved and had a relook at all the vinyl I have from many time periods. Been replaying a lot of them. Lots of smiles and dancing around the room. :))

Oh, my gosh, Rose!!—my grandparents, who were actually at Woodstock, have cases upon cases of vinyl—practically all genres. But mainly 60’s and 70’s rock, mowtown, blues, psychedelic and beyond. They’re both in their early eghties, but you “gotta” see their moves!!
I have all Queen CD’s ( my own collection).❤️

I can’t believe I spelled Motown wrong. I-did-not-do-it. Satan made me do it!!
Good interacting with you. Rose. My little girl’s name is Rosalba-we call her Rosie—pretty as a rose!!❤️

:)) :)) 🙂

Hey, I probably spelled it “mowtown” more than once myself, and some of the folks who made that music live right down the road from me now. (they have A/C, of course)

Johnny Cash is here too. He actually was invited to Heaven, but they wouldn’t let him wear black, so he came down here voluntarily.

HaHaHaHaHa and LOL!!

Celia… Great for you grandparents. I think music can keep you young. A friend of mine is going to a vinyl sale in a couple of weeks. Bet some of your grandparents original vinyl is worth some money. Feddie really owned a stage. Saw an interesting bio/dock about him and Queen recently. Bowie is my main guy. But strangely on the other end of the spectrum I rediscovered Johnny Cash. He’s great, too.

i like Johnny Cash, Rose—and, Roy Orbison !! Many of my friends have never heard of these unforgettable artists —they think I’m strange and tell it to my face. LOL—there are only a handful of today’s artists whom I appreciate. Well, ignorance is bliss, I guess. They don’t know what they’re missing.
My grandmother has always been a free spirit and she’d play music over and over—and we’d dance and dance—still do.
Of course, I love David Bowie, as well—The Stones, Jim Morrison ( The Doors), Jimi Hendrix–most of The Beatles’ music—
—-The Grass Roots, the Monkees etc. And, let’s not forget Janis!! I can even appreciate Bubblegum music of that era.
On the other side of that, I love Beethoven and Opera, such as “La Traviata”– even my home-decor is very eclectic. I’m all over the place. LOL.

Celia…We have much in common in our music tastes and possibly interesting home decor to some. When I sold my last place my realest estate agent told me to tone it down a bit. Lots of pictures…like Rod said “Every Picture Tells A Story.” Also some of the great musicals. And Prince. We could go on and on. Just regret the ones I didn’t see in concert. You think they would always be there. Anyway happy autumn, keep well.

Thank you, Rose—I’m subbing this semester—So, I will have more time to enjoy the colorful fall. Likewise!!❤️

Celia and Rose, you sound like true Renaissance women…true patrons of art. I, too, can sequence Joni Mitchell’s “BLUE” album right after classic Willie Nelson or Emmylou Harris and then put on “La Boheme” or my favorite musicals “A CHORUS LINE”, “GYPSY”, or “LES MISERABLES”. I also love THE DOORS (hey, how about Chase singing “LOVE ME TWO TIMES”? Whew!), Bowie, Rolling Stones, Heart, Nina Simone, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, and my true heroine Carly Simon. Such a treasure trove of riches! And today we hear dreck like Taylor Swift just winning SONGWRITER OF THE DECADE? Like the line in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” : “I weep for the future.”

Soaphound…Yes to Joni Mitchell…”we are stardust, we are golden.” Tina Turner, Carole King. All the way back to other notable women, other eras…Peggy Lee and June Christy. And more. Thanks to MF for letting us go on and on.

Rose: yes—Peggy Lee–FEVER!! “When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that’s so hard to bear—you give me fever…”
Have you ever danced to that? I’d love to see Chase dance to it with Ava—I love Brook Lynn, but she does not exude that je-ne-sais-quoi sexual vibe.
Aside to Satan—see that, Satan? Don’t have to go to Hell to experience fire!! FAYAH!! Come back to earth and see. LOL

Yeah, tell me about it—just watching my 8-year-old baby girl do her TikTok dance moves with her little friends makes me depressingly wonder “what the heck happened to music ?”
Strange as it is, my twin sister loves Taylor, Lizzo etc. I don’t get it. We are almost identical in looks, but with completely different personalities.
I still watch Saturday morning cartoons. The kids don’t even do that. Big mistake getting them cell phones—-it is what it is!!
Welcome to the future, Soaphound.

Yes. We do need Aunt Stella. Gh needs more strong Black characters like her. Aunt Stella isn’t on very much either. So, why her? And they need to find Trina some black friends and boyfriend.

Vernee Watson has won 2 Emmys playing Stella. With her primetime obligations, Watson appears just the right amount of time on GH.

More representation and interaction would be nice. Portia should host a house party with Epiphany, Felix, Deanna as guests. Heck, connect Brick to the canvas as one of their relatives.

That’s just it, Dion. I don’t find Aunt Stella to be a strong character. She’s basically a meddlesome know-it-all whose first few appearances basically consisted of looking down her nose at Jordan and muttering, “Mmm-hmmph!” Portia, Trina, Jordan and, especially, Epiphany are strong black female characters and I’d love more like them.

Very true, Soaphound—Auntie does carry a a heavy burden of “superiority complex”. But, she came a long way—-I think her tail is halfway between her legs in the meddlesome department. She is learning, considering the divorce papers fiasco.
I don’t want to see too much of her either, yet I like her to have a long “shelf-life”.
As far as strong characters? I grant you Jordan, Portia and Epiphany. Trina? I’m not 100%…..Original Trina: absolutely. NuTrina has a long way to go—-she’s not grabbing me.
Portia gets on my nerves, but she is her own person. I hope her strength holds her up when her secret is out. I’m just the opposite—I reveal everything and then some. LOL!!

When Sonny said “I dont have alot of family”, it underscored how much Brando, his mom, and Sasha meant to him. Its been great watching Sonny build a new life, and Brando was a big part of that. Johnny’s portrayal was fantastic, for me he was the only young male character that was likeable, and who I really cared about. Another great character discarded for a short term storyline.

I really liked Brando with Sasha and I was hoping the writers could throw them a bone. Good grief. I don’t wanna sit thru a 6-month storyline of Sasha’s demise now. If Johnny Wactor wanted to leave, I understand. But good grief could they have written his departure another way?

Per his interview he didn’t want to go.

Sonny tossed his family aside for liar Nina. Agree with all the Brando sentiments, really liked his character with all the current departures, he shouldn`t of been killed off. Pitiful the direction of this show.

Absolutely agree!

ANOTHER EPIC FAIL BY THESE INEPT WRITERS. KEEPING NINUTZ AND GETTING RID OF A LOVED CHARACTER.
BASICALLY CHANGING SONNYS DNA.
IF I HAD THE POWER I WOULD FIRE VALENTI AND THESE CLUELESS WRITERS

GH writers need a wake up call. These latest story lines are terrible! I have been watching for years and considering not to any longer. Killing Brando is horrible, especially to Sasha. Nina and Sorry have no sparks…..do you want GH to go off the air…..

While Brando was a likable character and Wactor a competent actor, the character never really had his own storyline. The pairing with Sasha was good, but the focus was almost entirely on her. Brando’s relationship with his mother was enjoyable to watch and it’s hard to see how they can keep Gladys around now. A shame, because Bonnie Burroughs really made the most of what could’ve been a one-note character.

Where does Sasha go from here? If she sticks around, who is she paired with? No youngish male character currently on the canvas is available. They seem to be in a cast trimming mode, so I doubt we’ll see Lucky or Dillon return anytime soon.

As for who the “hooker” is, barring a Paul Hornsby character assassination, it’s likely someone minor on the canvas. A Smoltz or Felty? Rory’s a possibility. Esme is too obvious and Evan Hofer (Dex) was just put on contract. There’s likely to be one or two more fatalities before this is wrapped up.

OG Steve
Don’t forget Sasha was with Michael once, wasn’t she? If and when Willow doesn’t make it, you never know. Esme is looking less and less a suspect to me. The poison thats being used on the hook seems more sophisticated
than Esme or any of the suspects. I can’t make up my mind up about Dex, playing both sides with Michael and Sonny,he is always in someone’s face or under their feet.It seems like he wants to please Sonny too much and Sonny keeps shooing him away like a stray dog. I almost keep expecting him to go up and pee on Sonny’s leg. He sure was right there when Sonny was talking to Diane and could very easily followed her.

Just wondering. Curtis’s father dislikes Sonny. Maybe his meds are no longer working? He’s said more than once he always feared his schizophrenia would make him inflict harm onto others. I hope they wouldn’t make Trina be the attacker. What a way for her to display symptoms of schizophrenia and target 2 people she loves in Ava and almost Joss. I can’t remember if they showed alibis for both characters or not.

Carrie
I think he just understands Sonny’s kind of people and being so protective of Curtis, he’s afraid Sonny might pull him into his business.

GH has turned into such a disappointment over the last few years. Certainly not any of the flair, adventure, memorable characters it used to have. Now it’s just as bad as the stories and characters in the news we hear everyday. And good acting at times doesn’t save it for me. It may not need a peacock switch like nbc to make me quit watching if they keep up these depressing, morbid stories.

rose
Agree, and it’s getting like the nighttime dramas but it doesn’t end with one episode but just keeps on going, day after day.

Poor Sasha, she’s like a dependent child but a very wealthy one. She can’t spend a cent without someone’s consent or approval. I sure hope they don’t put Gladys in charge of her interests, she’ll be broke in no time.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
