General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Julian & Sonny’s Showdown Ends Tragically; Cyrus Reveals His Past; Curtis & Jordan on the Rocks
Friday’s General Hospital left viewers in a free fall, literally, following the conclusion of the long-awaited final confrontation between arch enemies; Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Julian Jerome (William deVry).
Sonny tracks down Julian to the footbridge with gun in tow. He tells Julian the only way for him to get out of this alive, and for all his crimes, is to help him take down Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and implicate him as the person behind the bombing a the Floating Rib. Julian says if he talks Cyrus will kill him, anyway. Sonny says Julian will finally have some redemption if he does the ultimate sacrifice in order to bring down the drug lord.

Next, Julian seems to agree and then collapses, and we are to believe, at that point, that he has died, but when Sonny reaches down to check his pulse, Julian lunges at Sonny! Then a fight ensues and the gun goes off. We don’t know whether it was Julian or Sonny who was shot.
However, it is Sonny who is alive and Julian has been shot dead in the stomach. Next, Jason (Steve Burton) comes across the two on the footbridge. As Sonny and Jason see each other, the bridge collapses underneath Sonny and Julian … and they go overboard! Jason yells “Sonny!”

Back in Port Charles, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is hurt and betrayed by Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry), because she hid the truth from him that Taggert was alive. She says she is sorry, but she did not want anything to happen to her husband, so she kept him out of the plans and to not let him in on what she was doing to protect Taggert. Curtis says she never gave him an option and it is not OK about her consistent lies when comes to Taggert and her feud with Cyrus Renault. There looks to be real trouble in paradise here.

At the long-term care facility in Vermont, Laura (Genie Francis) is an for an earful once Cyrus enters Florence’s room and he and his brother Martin (Michael E. Knight) go at it, reliving old wounds about their father. Cyrus admits to Laura he figured out she was his half-sister and knew if he fed her bread crumbs she would make it to Vermont and figure it out.
Next, things get heated as we learn Cyrus was the odd man out in his relationship with his father, Gordon Gray. Martin tells Laura that Cyrus intentionally ran down their father with a car. Cyrus says it was accident. in these scenes, Jeff Kober delivered a top-notch performance revealing not only Cyrus’ inner pain and past, but leaving the audience and Laura still not trusting him and still fearful of him.
This episode seemingly marked the end of William deVry’s run of Julian Jerome who throughout his time in the role gave viewers memorable performances. William showed us the complexities of man caught up in the mob, but who loved his children in his own way, even through countless mistakes, bad decisions, and criminal moves. And let’s not forget, Julian was one-half of the former fan favorite duo, Julexis with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis). Kudos to Will for a job well-done.
So, what did you think of the ending of Friday’s GH? Will you miss Julian? What do you think will happen next to Sonny? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
Kudos to deVry, but Julian stayed long past his expiration date. deVry made the most of what the writers gave him and a lesser actor would have departed the role years ago.
Directly responsible for numerous deaths and indirectly for quite a few others, there was no other way out but to (finally) kill off the character. When you think about, sure, Sonny killed AJ, and should be admonished for that. But AJ’s (final) demise started with Ava killing Connie to protect Julian’s identity. Of course, stupid Connie didn’t help by writing “AJ” in her own blood instead of “AVA” One extra letter, but guess you really can’t fault a dying woman. Ava let AJ take the fall thus setting up the confrontation where Sonny kills him.
What happens to Charlie’s now? Julian should’ve given it to Felicia as payment for blowing up her bar.
Switching gears, Jeff Kober was outstanding. Martin is now a relevant character, not sure if he’s necessary, but there is a reason for him to be there.
Donnell Turner continues to impress.
I’m going to miss Julian. It’s sad how that ended to a try hard to do his best character. Pls bring him back.
General Hospital is; as they say off the chain, awesome !! I will miss Julian but all the stars are great, I record it daily, and GH is the only recording I can watch more than once, Thank you!!
Cyrus is still a slimball and always wants to show he has the power but Laura will be one of many to take him down. I still do not believe Julian is dead and I hope he has a part of taking Cyrus down. The Police commissioner has made so many bad decisions in this Cyrus fiasco it makes my head hurt and I do not blame Curtis for being angry with her.
William DeVry : “Julian” I did not expect this MUCH tease sensational delight he’s a good actor, solid imagination whet and senses checked
I’m certain Julian was kept around because Message Board LIGHT UP ! Thank YOU for that. when any arch nemesis for Sonny and Carly have run their course… well you can imagine the obvious… Julian caught with every cast member. YES he caught on with all triggers sensored. one of the sexiest … of all cast members… AND that speaks VOLUME. HE never reached over the top , over kill, was always on ready, stand by, and tackled all story given . there you have it… a good actor “fired”
FIRE Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, Chad Duell, Wes Ramsey – HIRE : William DeVry, Bryan Craig, Tyler Christopher,Ryan Paevey. combustible

Happy Holidays GH viewers! Sarcasm meant here. Sorry great actors have to deal with the writer’s stories whose idea of drama keeps getting uglier and uglier over the last few years starting with fluke. Now we have a narcissistic bad guy who thinks it’s okay to make a living addicting people because of daddy issues. And “oh” let’s do it through the hospital. Then there’s Sonny (also step daddy issues), and Jason, who is more loyal to Sonny and Carly than to his own wife and kids. Not sure what they do but are less bad because they don’t deal in dope and donate to charities. And they are after another damaged soul, Julian, who put a bomb in the Floating Rib. Ava who tried to kill her brother. Feel bad for Joss having to decide whether to look the other way like her mother (who also likes the power) instead of following good instincts. Hope she makes better choices. Maybe the above and the real world are the reasons I am watching more of the Hallmark channel this season. I know…formula stories but they have good lessons, end well and have as a bonus occasional soap veterans on them.
GH has been firing on all cylinders for weeks now! The acting and writing have been top-notch, especially the scenes between Laura, Cyrus and Martin. Jeff Kober is fantastic in this role, Michael E. Knight is as charming as ever (even with the heavily put-on southern accent), and Genie is Genie, need I say more? She shines no matter what material she’s given. The writing in those scenes was great, and I look forward to seeing more of this new family dynamic.
As for Julian, I’m really sad with what the writers have done to him this year. His downfall started when he agreed to help that slimeball Brad, and continued when he agreed to help Nelle. I don’t think he’s dead, given that Sonny only had a few seconds to see if there was a pulse before the bridge collapsed. I fully expect Julian to return down the road, especially since we know Kim had a baby and Julian could very well be the father (although I’m almost certain Franco will be).
What a great week of shows. It feels like we’re still in Sweeps!
Hi Jimmy
I don’t think we’ll ever see Julian again since Sam identified his body but what I thought was pretty rotten was her telling her brother that their father got exactly what he deserved. He was not a good father but he loved them in the only way he was capable of. I guess if Julian and Alexis didn’t act as she thought they should then they weren’t worthy of her love. God, what a hypocrite!
WOW! WOW! WOW! Amazing Julian-transformation. Bravi, makeup artists—and, bravo William!! A true thespian!
Sonny needs to rest—such a put on. Plus, the entire deal with Jason, the arresting cop and Diane was such a forced scene—-nonsensical words from a nonsensical attorney. Really?! A farce!! Just sayin’.
Hi Celia 🙂
Good to see you are alive well and sassy 🙂
They actually did, it!!! Julian was actually killed off..
How he would be brought back would now need miracle writing.
Wonder if he’ll be cremated– burying people is gross.
You take care- be safe !!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!
Thank you, sir—and, thank you for “getting” me. I am frequently told I think on a different plane.
Merry Christmas to you, as well.❤️
I can’t bear to lose Sonny or Julian. Carly,Ava,Alexis,Tracy,Monica,Epiphany and Diane are irreplaceable. At the same time I am so sick and tired of the Michael,Chase,Sasha and Willow story. Anna has become tiresome with her obsession about Peter.
Jordan has become a real pain in the butt. She needs to leave Port Charles as soon as she can Her character is soooo repetitive and redundant.
My biggest complaint is the writers. So many things that happen are simply not realistic. A shoot-out in an unoccupied bus terminal? Teenagers hacking into hospital records and no one knows? None of the PCPD except Mac has any idea of legal protocols or and Good Grief, what happened to all of the Costumers, Hairdressers and Make-Up Cast Members?? People all seem to be wearing extremely bad wigs and re-doing the Quartermaine Foyer and Main Living Room is so heartbreakingly useless.
OK I’ll quit…In spite of my many complaints, I Love General Hospital. God Bless You All, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Well stated. I share these sentiments exactly exactly.
I’m pretty sure people are doing their own hair and makeup during covid
Hmmmm….I doubt William D is proficient with eyebrow pencils and highlighters—His makeup was professionally “painted”. A true Michelangelo?? LOL “Julian” looked like he had one foot inside Satan’s fiery domain.
MamaDee,
Truth be- soaps stories are ”simply not realistic.”
They are fantasy fiction and weird dumb stuff LOL
It’s all makebelieve– gotta luv the soaps 🙂
Top to bottom, GH has been great since coming out of the initial Covid shutdown. Connecting a current storyline with Laura’s past and making her related to Cyrus and Martin, BRILLIANT! Three top notch actors chewing up good dialog. A positive treat in a not so positive year!
Hi Timmm —
goes to show that being on lock-down with time
on hand you can create awesome stories
out of boredom and isolation..
And– it gave time to recharge../reboot oneself.
Looks like covid jump-started the brains of the writers.
Right-on, T–Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year. Luv-ya, my friend!!
Love you, miss you, Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Please tell me did you miss all the episodes that the character Sonny treated women with absolutely no respect? I can’t stand the character !
Kay
Hi! Iam having a hard time remembering exactly which women you are speaking of. Just for hoots, would you name a few?
Right??!! TPTB expect the viewer to give a blind eye and a deaf esr to Sonny’s criminal activities, machinations and male superiority. I’ve only been watching for six years, but his sexist intonation has reared its ugly head many a time..
The hypocrisy by both the show’s elites and the character is quite ironic..
Man, TPTB really wanted to make a point to/about deVry, didn’t they? It’s a shame they took their gripes with the actor to the screen and made him run around like a rat for weeks before jumping off a parapet, being shot, then shot again, then falling off a bridge, and then dragged around the set around in a body bag. DeVry is a damn good actor & I’m sad to see him go. The whole thing reminded me of a story told by the character of Moira on Schitt’s Creek about her soap persona being killed 7 different ways when she left the show because contract negotiations broke down. Such a soapy thing to do…
Agreed. Yet Sonny ‘lives” on.—–I guess talent is not a requirement.
Hi !! Celia 🙂
Sonny hasn’t committed crimes, he has other people do what’s needed..
And- he’s never coldblooded killed anyone, that’s Jason..
Actually, Sonny is quite clean..
Carly & Sonny have become boring eeehhhh
Their relationship has outlived its time.
But it seems that there isn’t anyone else for the characters.
So- if they break up for the 10000 time they will remarry for the 10000 time.
I still have’t figured out the reason for them, at their age, to have a baby/Donna- makes no sense, nope..
Hey, Susie Q—-
Great “seeing” you. Hope you had a joyful Christmas—no large family gathering? LOL
Donna is a menopause baby. Realistically, it does happen. My grandmother gave birth to my father at forty-seven years of age. We call my dad an “oops” baby.
However, I don’t know what point the writers were trying to make when they decided to give Carly and Sonny a baby. Was it to show that Sonny is as virile as ever and Carly still hot to trot?. I suppose TPTB are running out of bright ideas to keep this couple relevant.
BTW—-Sonny is definitely not clean. He may have his henchman do his dirty work for him, but he is still responsible for any crime Jason commits —-he follows Sonny’s dictates. That’s how “the boys” work…..”il Capo” never dirties his hands with such trivialities.
This “malvivente” is a hypocrite and so is Carly…..As is this unrealistic saga of a fake “cosa nostra”—-these people do not “hang out” with doctors, nurses, honest mayors or upstanding lawyers. But, as you said; it’s a soap.
Stay well and wear your mask—oh, don’t forget to wash your hands for twenty seconds each time.—–trying to put some levity on a serious subject.
We will have to adjust to this new normal. I feel badly for all the students who are missing out on so much—-one example; Campus life–
Thought Julian would survive. he never found out he has another baby. why did they kill him off, still a lot of stories for him? Can’t they have his death be a plot to help him escape for a while?

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
