GENERAL HOSPITAL Promo: A Fire Changes Everything for the Corinthos Family, Cyrus Continues to be a Threat

As previewed, in the just released ABC promo for the action this week on General Hospital, it is quite explosive, literally! As had been teased, Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse will become a blaze.

We hear the voice-over of Michael (Chad Duell) saying he “filed for divorce,” in what looks to be a discussion with his father, Sonny. Next, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) looks absolutely shocked. Is it about the divorce filing or something else?

At GH, Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) tells chief of staff, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), “There is someone in this hospital who is killing people.” We know that digitalis had been injected in the IV’s of Sam McCall and Dex Heller. Cut to an evil and glaring Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) leaving the hospital in an elevator as he stares down Portia. Does she suspect Cyrus is the culprit? Is he targeting her as his next victim?

Courtesy/ABC

Later, an emotional Carly (Laura Wright) looks beside herself as she may be reeling from news at the hospital. Does she learn that her son Michael is the one who was engulfed in flames signaling the end of Chad Duell’s run? Stay tuned.

Check out the video promo for the drama the week of January 6th-10th in Port Charles below.

Now weigh in, what do you think will happen with the fire and Michael? Is Cyrus responsible? Who will be his next victim? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Buh-bye Michael Corinthos, and buh-bye whoever else is killing Cyrus is planning to kill.

I thought when Sonny was having the trouble with his heart when he was at the gym was because Cyrus had somehow gotten Digitalis into him.

Normally, I’m not in favor of them destroying sets for storyline purposes (still miss Mac’s house, Anna’s townhome and the Floating Rib). However, Sonny’s penthouse set is really not attractive and can definitely use an upgrade. Maybe they’ll have him move into an updated version of Sam’s now abandoned unit.

This turn of events could be great leverage for Ava to get custody of Avery long term.

Sonny can buy another house; Ava can’t even afford to pay attention.

He’ll probably move in with Carly or that other bimbo he’s been hanging with. At least with Carly they will have the loss of Michael in common, even if he is sent away to a special facility for treatment.
I’m no fan of Ava but poor Avery, didn’t see ĥer mother anyway, but at least she had Sonny , Carly and her family.

Sonny could just move across the hall to Jason’s penthouse. It’s been vacant since Sam died. And both Jason & Dante have been living at the Q mansion.

Though moving back into his old house with Carly is very likely, since Sonny’s first concerns when it comes to security breaches are usually his kids.

Yep

I was proud of Michael today for finally verbalizing what we all realized about Willow a long time ago. He’s finally realizing how screwed up she is and that she’s not the angel he thought she was. Michael recognizing her pattern of behavior was the best part of the show, especially starting with why she fell for Chase. It just emphasized the fact that Chase dodged a bullet when Willow left him. He’s better off without her. They both are. I’ll take Michael and Chase’s friendship over either of them dating Willow any day. I’m so glad they were able to get past Michael’s affair with Willow. She’s not worth losing that friendship over forever. Michael definitely should’ve listened to Diane about taking an aggressive first strike against Willow.

Willow’s always been boring, and this cheating storyline hasn’t changed that. lol She’s insufferable with her “woe is me, I’m such a victim” act. I’ve never liked her, especially since she cheated on Chase. Chase/Willow were just as boring as Michael/Willow, though. I didn’t love them or hate them, because they were just kind of there. They were inoffensive, so I didn’t have a strong reaction to them one way or the other. It wasn’t some great love story with amazing chemistry. They were fine when they were onscreen, but I didn’t miss them when they weren’t. The only reason Chase/Willow were only slightly less boring than Michael/Willow is because Josh Swickard has a knack for generating chemistry with his love interests: Nelle, Willow, Brook Lynn.

The common denominator here is Willow. She brought Chase and Michael’s characters down, and made both relationships boring. Chad Duell had great chemistry with Sofia Mattsson, so it didn’t really make sense to break up Michael and Sasha. They should’ve just found someone else for Willow, because she wasn’t great with Chase or Michael. And, she’s treated them both like crap now. She really should just avoid marriage, since she falls in love too quickly and easily with men who are not her husband.

I couldn’t help laughing at Willow’s shock that Michael filed for divorce, and wants primary custody while giving her supervised visits. What did she think was going to happen after everything she’s done in the aftermath of her affair being revealed? She tried to take the kids without telling him, limited Michael’s contact with his children on Christmas, spent Christmas with Drew, and then took Wiley to D.C. with her and Drew without telling Michael. LOL Now, she’s worried about the sex tape ruining Drew’s career?

While Martin’s right about how courts normally don’t like to take kids from their mother, this is different. I loved his reaction to finding out that she was in D.C. (the wince), especially when he started ranting to Laura about his client making stupid decisions and making his job harder. LOL So true. Willow’s such an idiot. Drew making Michael out to be the bad guy is despicable, and his “I love you”s are over the top and creepy at this point. Can we stop that? I don’t want to hear it.

This is a soap opera people.

Um. This is the soap opera comment section, Mary. Folks do not need to be reminded that it is a soap opera. These type of statements are not only unnecessary, they’re obnoxious.

Yes. And? It should still make sense. Willow’s obsession with Drew that led to her kissing him behind Michael’s back for months came out of nowhere. That wasn’t built up well. Willow sleeping with Drew wasn’t surprising after she’d already been carrying on an emotional affair with him for months and had cheated on her previous husband with Michael. It’s the fact that her infatuation with Drew which led up to it wasn’t written well to sell this so-called love story.
Plus, she’s continuing to play the victim instead of accepting responsibility. Willow and Drew are acting like the victims here when they’re not.

At least when Liz cheated on Lucky with Nikolas, Elizabeth and Nikolas owned up to it. Elizabeth accepted Lucky’s hurt and anger. She acknowledged that there was no excuse for what she did, and Nikolas was genuinely remorseful that he’d betrayed his brother in the worst way possible. Liz also had the decency to admit to Nikolas that she’d blown up her boys’ lives, question what the hell was wrong with her and throw him out, telling him she didn’t want to be around him at that point. When she was finally alone, she legitimately broke down in tears over losing Lucky. She also never tried to run off with the kids without telling him, take the boys from him or leave town with the kids without telling him, let alone with the man she cheated on him with. Liz didn’t try to make Nikolas her sons’ new daddy.

Willow has done/shown none of that. She has no remorse, no regrets and no regard for Michael’s feelings whatsoever. She’s basically trying to replace him with Drew as her kids’ father. If this storyline was written better, it might actually be interesting – soapy in a good way. It’s not, though. She’s whining and complaining about Michael, acting like she’s the victim and like she had no idea he was capable of being vindictive. lol Willow didn’t have any problem with Michael being vindictive when it benefited her. Now, all of a sudden, she’s horrified and doesn’t know him at all? lol Drew acting like a victim is even worse, especially since he cared more about sleeping with Willow than comforting his daughter the night Sam died.

So sad! Why would they take michael out that way? Worst episode ever

So dishisting- have watched that show for many, many years and am done now

If you mean b take him out, kill him, they didn’t. He’s not being killed off.

He’ll definitely be back, maybe with a different face. The fire reminds me of Lucky’s “death” in 1999. When he does return, I hope he goes scorched earth on Willow and Drew before/while reuniting with Sasha.

I agree 100 % with you.

Why Portia is allowing Cy to creep around the hospital is beyond me!

It’s frustrating the writers haven’t allowed the other cast members to figure out Cyrus is the one killing the patients. Especially since he had so much free reign in the hospital all of this time. I’ll be so glad when and if that character is gone for good. He’s just too creepy. I understand shows need villains, but he’s also like a predator and he’s difficult to watch.

Did not see GH on TV today, watched it on Utube. Portia better watch her back , after she threw Cyrus out of GH, she’ll be his next victim.
Wonder how much trouble the new owner of Windemere will cause Lucy and her big nose?

Cyrus and the dirty, evil stare he gave Portia. …with his fake born-again self. Please let someone bring him to justice soon. He’s been there too long. He’s like a disturbing cult leader and GH has already had one of those.

Sad he’s leaving and someone please kill Cyrus off

So it looks like the writers are reading what a Devil posts here. A few months back I thought that Lorenzo Alcazar would buy Windermere because what makes a better home for an international fugitive paranoid about his own security than a literal castle with it’s own island?

So for what ever reason Alcazar hasn’t shown up but now we have Sidwell buying Windermere for the very same reasons.

Now here’s the question.. he sure seemed to enjoy the view of the Port Charles skyline from across the water. Was he expecting to see a “fireworks show”. Coming from Sonny’s penthouse, maybe?

Not sure why exactly Sidwell would have a beef with Sonny though. While Sonny did discuss “fencing” Sidwell’s diamonds with Holly, the deal never took place and Sidwell got his poached diamonds back (after kidnapping Sasha of course).

On the other horn Jason has ruined Sidwell’s plans twice now so he might have a grudge against Jason. Did he bomb the wrong penthouse by mistake??

I missed yesterday Jan 6 programming. Where can I watch it. Thanks

Go to abc.com. GH will appear in the list of programs. If you put in your tv provider, you’ll gain access to Monday’s episode.

I thought the fire scene was very well done. Soapy, dramatic, unexpected (unless you read spoilers). We know they’re not killing Michael off, so “Michael” will be off canvas in a burn unit (possible coma). Chad Duell said they left the door open for his return if he chooses to come back. If they’re doing that, then I assume his body will be burned but his face will remain intact. If they decide to recast, they’ll go with his face burned so badly he needed plastic surgery, route….

Michael will go away for rehabilitation leaving it open whether the actor wants to return to the roller. Maybe I’ll come back looking like Morgan..

It was hard to watch Michael engulfed in flames. Whether he lives or dies, Willow will have the freedom to be with her lover. No pity for her when she finds out about Nina and Drew. Too bad she can’t be loyal and she never deserved Michael who forgave her for not telling him about her leukemia. He would even be willing to work on their marriage after she cheated on him. When the truth about Nina and Drew comes out, she’ll whine and feel hurt because she thinks Drew owes her loyalty. Willow turned into an annoying character and could have been a good one considering all of the challenges she faced and survived.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how she handles the truth about Nina and Drew. Will she run to another man to save her again? Will she finally notice her patterns and address them? Carly will never stay out of her business now, that’s for sure. She’ll have to toughen up.

I will miss Michael so sad they took him out that way fire so sad

No no no no no no no !!!!!!! Stop this madness!!!!!

I think Sidwell is responsible for the fire at Sonnys. Michael will be badly burned.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
