General Hospital's Marc Anthony Samuel Talks About The Love Life Of Felix Dubois And More!

It was quite a week for General Hospital’s nurse Felix Dubois (Marc Anthony Samuel)! First, he had to get himself resigned to the idea, and psyched up to have a three-way with Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes) and Brad Cooper (Parry Shen). How did that all come about? Felix at one point dated Brad, while Brad ended up hooking up with Lucas. Then after that, Lucas dumped Brad after finding out his part in Cousin Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) embryo debacle/switch! Next, as Felix and Lucas spent more time together, they enjoyed each others company. Felix and Brad got terse with each other over Lucas, and then Lucas suggested a threesome as a solution! And now it was all set to be a re-imagined, shall we say, “Three’s Company!”
But the three-way never happened, thanks in part to Magic Milo (Drew Cheetwood) who happened upon good friend Felix, as he was about to leave the hospital and meet up with Brad and Lucas for their scheduled ménage a trois! Milo told Felix that he desperately wanted to admit his feelings for someone, but could not muster up the courage. Felix thought Milo was referring to him when it was actually Nurse Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) that Milo had the “hots” for. An emotional Felix then realized he wants to wait for the right man to come along that wants to be with him, and only him. So Felix bows out of the proposed three-way with Lucas and Brad. It seemed that Felix knew that Lucas and Brad wanted to be with each other all along.
Marc Anthony Samuel (Felix) delivered a nuanced and touching performance on this Friday’s episode of the ABC soap opera, and On-Air On-Soaps caught up with him at the recent GHFCW 2014 to ask him about: Felix’s moral standards, what he thinks Felix truly feels for Lucas and Brad, where he sees the story going from here, and the return of Felix’s bff Sabrina (Teresa Castillo), and how several fans have not been kind to the duo. Here’s what Marc had to say!

Many in the audience want Felix to loosen up. Is that tough for you having to play him when he has such strong moral values? Do you feel as an actor in some way trapped by the character, where you can’t really break away from the “good guy” nature of the character?
MARC: I don’t feel trapped, and what I do is take the parts of my own personality that can empathize with what Felix is going through, and I kind of dial him up a bit. And at some point in life, you feel different ways about different things. I remember when I was a little bit more reticent in my own personality, and wanting to find something special, and not doing what all of my other friends were doing. So, I believe I have something in common with Felix in that way. Never trapped. It’s always fun to put together these composites and make a human being.
So, does Felix truly like and have feelings for Lucas (Ryan Carnes)?
MARC: I think he does like Lucas a lot. I think he is discovering that his feelings took him by surprise. Felix wants to find that special someone, and when he found that he thought he had that kind of Kismet with Lucas … stuff started flowing.
In working with Ryan Carnes, what were you most surprised to find about him?

MARC: Ryan is such a vibrant personality, but he has a side to him that is just so mellow – how shall I put it – he takes people in, and studies them for a bit, before he says anything. I did not expect him to have that degree of being so extremely wise, like an old soul, which I love about him. Ryan and I get along really well, and I think that’s one of the reasons. He is not quick to just blurt out opinions. Ryan thinks about what he says.
Teresa Castillo (Sabrina) recently returned to tape all-new episodes of GH since the birth of her real-life daughter, Victoria. I know you two are buds. How was it to get to work with her again?
MARC: It was so good to see Teresa Castillo again. I got to work with her when she first returned to GH, but of course, I stayed in touch with her while she was on maternity leave.
Sabrina and Felix often time gets some hardcore fan bashing from GH fans. How do you feel about the negative heat given to the characters?
MARC: Whenever you are in a public forum, you are going to get the gamut of opinions and people are going to be saying, “We want to see more of them!” Or, “We DON’T want to see anymore of them!” All you can do is do your job, and we happily do it.

Will Felix be helping Sabrina reintegrate into Port Charles upon her return?
MARC: Oh, of course! You have your people in your life, period. You want them to succeed as they want you to succeed, also. I am sure Felix and Sabrina will again, have each others back.
On General Hospital, The Golden Girls has been in many a line of dialogue of late as the go-to show for gay guys to watch together, as well as Knots Landing! What do you think of that analogy?
MARC: Well, I know that the writers seem to have an affinity for The Golden Girls. (Laughs) And all we can do is celebrate it. (Laughs) And honestly, The Golden Girls is a fun show. Who doesn’t love the face of Bea Arthur when someone says something to elicit that response from her? You just go with where the writing takes you.
Did you originally think that you and Parry Shen (Brad) would end up being the romantic couple on the show as Brad and Felix? It looks now that Brad and Lucas are the item … with Felix odd man out!

MARC: It’s funny, I did! I thought he was going to be the love interest. Now what I have learned from spending more time on this show is … you can’t take any of it for granted. You don’t know which way anything is going to go. But when you are doing what’s on the page, you just gotta go for it and make it happen. So I have no idea where ultimately everything is going to go… and that’s the truth!

I like Felix! I think he is the least annoying of the three and I actually like his friendship with Sabrina. I am rooting for Brad to be the odd man out, no disrespect for the actor, but Brad the character annoys me!
I would like to post about my deep disappointment in the development with Felix in the 8/15 episode. From the posts I read here (and other soap opera message boards) I gather that Felix is not very popular. I like Felix but completely understand why he would be disliked by many. 1.) he’s been woefully underdeveloped and 2.) deeply attached to Sabrina who is shallow and propped-up. When introduced, Felix was fun and funny. The character was lively and joyful. The past year Felix has been written as unhappy, miserable, desperate and morose. Sadly, Friday’s episode exemplified how pathetically written Felix is. I felt that Felix was the “butt of the joke” of Milo confessing his sudden crush on Epiphany. In the scenes of Milo’s confession, Felix (superbly performed by Marc Anthony Samuel) vacillated from confusion, hope and despair in one scene. It was crushing and heartfelt. I’m glad Felix wasn’t broken by the development and hope for the return of the fun and bold Felix I loved, but I am not confident in the writers’ abilities.
I felt embarrassed for Felix but also angry that the Lucas would be so callous and cruel as to invite Felix and Brad into a “threesome” if Brad was the one he wanted to be with. He knew that when making the arrangement!!! I had no problem with the proposal of a threesome but I do have a problem that Lucas is written as a cad and Brad a buffoon while Felix is left out in the cold. As underdeveloped as Felix is, he’s more developed than Lucas and Brad! I also think Marc Anthony Samuel is the superior talent of the trio (sorry.)
Why is a show called “General Hospital” unwilling to write quality stories for the nurses, Liz and Felix? If they are not on the periphery of poorly written “triangles” they are relegated to propping up Sabrina Santiago (whenever she’s onscreen.) Not once has it been written that Sabrina supported Felix or Liz in the way they have supported her. Sabrina has never asked Felix or Liz about their lives or offered them advice.
In the case that Mr. Samuel has read this comment, I would like him to know that I think he is a brilliant performer but I am a critical viewer of daytime for over 30 years and will call it as I see it.

some expect way too much from a soap ..
and should just enjoy the stories and don’t be so serious like the soap is theirs alone..and has to be the way they want it to be.. not going to happen… lol

Enjoy the stories…nothing to get upset over…dont be serious…its not going to happen the way you want(you dont think that when it comes to Robin…lol)…a lot of people can say the same about Y&R which you find fault with so its no different if someone finds fault with the other 3…as much as you like GH and im glad you do and showing enthusiastic support…others may feel about the show the way you feel about Y&R…sometimes i like GH and sometimes i dont…there have been times ive agreed with you and sometimes i dont…its just like the real world…not everything is going to be perfect for me and for you all the time…and believe it or not i often enjoy reading your comments and even more so when Harry responds…both you and Harry would make interesting characters on any soap…id like that…lol

didja ever notice Y&R runs its drama on death and near death stories, all the time death or dying.. They kill people/children for year long stories and then the following 10 years they celebrate their deaths (no humor..LOL
At least with GH they blow them up or shoot ’em dead and throw them in the river or freeze them and later reanimate them in cryo lab and is it dark drama with a touch of humor lol .. an GH has the Dunkelman!
And GH now has a sweetheart gorgeous hunk guy dating an older african american woman who is very over weight, and its awesome and doesn’t get any better than that!! I’m loving that ..(Y&R couples are boring, truth)

Agreed, soapbaby!! Felix never stood a chance of being liked for himself, because from literally the moment he first appeared, he had no opportunity to forge his own identity since he was constantly attached to that irritating nurse. Sappy has managed to poison every character with whom she has come into contact: Patrick turned into a morose, girlie-man, Emma became an intolerable brat after those babysitting sessions and Car-LOS! a sad (yet comical) parody of a hot-headed, gun-wielding gangsta who lost his nerve when he thought his precious ex was in danger.
I agree with you 110% soapbaby! All soap fans have favorites and if their fav character was getting the short end of the stick their opinions would match yours. Unfortunately the writers seem to find the same old storylines with the same old characters entertaining and pleasing to the same old fans.

Also sad is that I will have a very hard time watching Lucas because of how he handled all of this. I get being torn between two suitors but I don’t get Lucas inviting Felix and Brad into a threesome when he wanted to be with Brad!!! What hell is that? Lucas has been written as aimless (no job, no reason to stay in Port Charles) not being loyal to his family (Brad conspired in the kidnapping of Lulu’s baby!) and completely fickle (exhibited by his treatment of Felix and Brad.)
He has more fans than Brad and Lucas. I’m still betting on Felix and Lucas being end game.

General hospital holds the action and all the controversy exciting things happen on GH..
The GH threads are many in comparison to the other soaps which usually have a feature/thread here and there that get about 36 replies..
But!
GH has many threads because it rocks with a variety of shockers or controversy happenings to get talked about..
The GH threads get 100-200 replies, a very good thing..
The other soaps are pale in comparison to GH shockers and out of the box writing!!
Milo and Epiphany!! what a wonderful awesome unexpected shocker surprise; love it!!

I am really really hoping that the powers that be reverse the milo and epiphany thing. They should have hooked milo up with Felix. This was very cruel writing for the actor (felix) to play and he became a joke to many fans. The script was obviously a bait and switch stunt that general hospital has been pulling for the last two years. Who would ever believe that milo wanted epiphany. I also think that the milo and felix relationship was stopped because so many homophobic people do not want to see a good looking macho white man with a black guy.
It will be Felix and Lucas end game.
I absolutely love “Felix.” This character has become the (one of the few) heart and soul of GH (for me.) I liked him from the beginning. Loyal, funny, warm, creative, sarcastic, moral…just adore this character and I hope they keep him on. Whether he finds his way back to either Brad or Lucas, or they bring on someone new for him, I do hope they involve him in a relationship.

Still think Lucas and Felix will be end game if Lucas remains on the show. Him and Brad last scenes were almost like there swan song. I think they would have paired Lucas and Felix just to create drama and a SL involving Brad.
I love Marc’s portrayal of Felix and I hope his character finds true love with someone who shares his desire for a committed relationship and not just a sexual encounter. Felix deserves better.

I think Felix not joining Brad and Lucas was right for his character. Felix is more about finding a real relationship and not just about the physical attraction. I do hope he gets to be happy and find the relationship he is seeking . I was sad for Felix when he thought that Milo wanted him and then it came out that Milo wanted Epiphany.
I like Felix and Sabrina’s friendship a lot! It’s nice the way they always have each other’s back.

Sabrina and Felix are a great example of true friendship. That one person you can talk to about anything and not judged for anything you’re going through. They are perfect and who knows…Sabrina may just be Felix’s matchmaker, she knows him better than anyone. <3
I think it is very stereo typical when a gay man attaches himself to a straight woman. I wish that Felix were more independent from Sabrina. He needs to move out of that apartment and live his own life. All felix does is live his life through straight women. Realistically most straight women do not really like gay men since they consider them to be competition. They are afraid that he may go after a man like milo or Nathan.
Thank you, Candy! I’ve never understood Felix’s obsession with the “Sobby One.” He seems to be the one doing all the giving in that friendship since everything is ALWAYS about that self-centered nurse and her issues. It’s high time he stopped acting as if the world revolves around her…it’s totally detrimental to his own life!

I loved the scenes with Felix and Milo on Friday’s show. Great performances by Marc Anthony Samuel and Drew Cheetwood, and a clever story.
It actually seemed like they were building to Milo coming out to Felix, and then for him to reveal that his feelings were about Epiphany, I thought that was a cool swerve and I didn’t see it coming. I hope they do something with it too, cause I love Sonya Eddy as Epiphany, and she hasn’t had her own story in quite some time.
Then for Felix to turn down the three-way, I had to laugh at that after all of the outrage and hand wringing that a number of people expressed on here over the idea of *gasp* a gay three-way. I thought it was a well written story, and the acting was well done by everyone involved.
Parry Shen as Brad in particular, who has managed to take a character I couldn’t stand, and turned him into someone that I wanna root for, even if he does scheme and do bad things from time to time, lol. Between this story and all the drama involving Levi and Maxie, and Mac getting shot, it was another exciting week of GH!
I did not care for Felix when he first started – but have warmed up to him and the actor. Not crazy that he’s the Gladys Kravitz of the show (butting into everyone’s business) but like that there is at least more hospital staff and that he’s neither tied to the Qs or to the Mob.

It would have been better if they had cast marc as tom and simone’s hardy’s gay son. Then he would have had some connections to Audrey and past characters. The writers just do not think.
I’ve moved on but i still cant believe some of the rude response some get when they express anything negative someone else likes…like i wasnt against the Lucas/Brad/ Felix triangle…to me that one episode felt like a filler…fillers id be ok with but not for almost an entire show…im no prude i dont mind some sex talk but that one episode felt more like a talk show…much of the episode with all that talk felt more like i was watching Maury or Springer…just my opinion folks…some liked it and some dont…so why attack someone if they think differently…just give a simple civil rebuttal…it didnt help that i was having a bad week so maybe i shouldve took time off but still my response would have been close to the same…Anyway, Milo and Epihany was a twist i didnt see coming…maybe a better one wouldve been Alice…i could see Milo and Alice at the Q Mansion: Alice chasing Milo around…Milo predictably shirtless of course…when Tracy and hopefully Monica walks in../but even a Milo and Epiphany could have some humorous moments but i feel we wont see much of them…that Milo’s appearance was more likely to help move Lucas/Brad/Felix triangle along…jmho!!!
@jimh…There was absolutely nothing wrong with your posts, as always they were respectful and very well put….you are as entitled to your opinions as anyone else. Should you ever again have the misfortune to receive the sort of uncalled for and unfortunate replies that we all were privy to, just consider the source and ignore them…they do not deserve the dignity of your response! I’ve had the occasional idiotic post sent to me as well…my last one featured redacted profanity and a personal insult. Needless to say, those remarks still have not been answered and never will be.
I plan too ignore most of them unless it goes way overboard or i need a rebuttal…Micheal Fairman did post that we can have our opinions neg. or pos. and warned posters about replies that intentionally hurt and will be banned from this site…i just had a horrible last week with some improvement this week as you are aware of…those rude replies came unexpected and i had to respond…im here to stay God willing…p.s. i read your reply to Johnny and hopes he stays too…several posters like him, yourself, Harry, Mary, GH50, Rebecca, Patrick and many more are often more interesting and entertaining when reading their comments than watching our soaps!!!

I really dislike Michael’s bias that anyone who doesn’t like Sabrina and/or Felix is in the wrong.
I would like a Felix/Lucas pairing but I wish they would make Lucas a more solid character, don’t like his player side. Lucas and Brad together doesn’t work for me.
I would have rather seen Milo come out to Felix than have Epiphany be his love interest. Love comes in all shapes, sizes, and shades but this is stretching it! Bring back “Casey the Alien!” More believable!

I am Felix…..in so many ways, even the part of working in a hospital…but as an xray technologist! I loved and so understood Felix’s plight. I totally relate to Felix’s moral choices about waiting for the right thing for him, and I was so glad he didn’t compromise his promise to himself by participating in a three way! My mom used to have this saying as she watched how other women would chase after men, “If you don’t want me for me, then I don’t want you to have me!” That ‘s me in a nutshell! Some people realize that they aren’t just a piece of meat! Sex lasts for a brief interlude! Some look for what goes past the afterglow! Marc Anthony, your performance was flawless…thank you!
Lucas and Brad have great chemistry and a deep connection because they have VERY similar upbringings/backgrounds. How often do you meet someone who shares that special connection with you? They really need to go back to that and develop this relationship. I like Felix better when he isn’t Sabrina’s sidekick.The character has potential. I actually feel that Felix had better chemistry with Brad than he did with Lucas and at one point I actually thought Felix and Brad could end up together.
You have got to be kidding. Please give Felix a better looking man than brad. He needs a hunk of a stud like Milo or Nathan.
Felix is likable when they don’t make him a busybody. When he finally gave Brad a chance he continuously put Sabrina first. Can’t blame Brad for looking elsewhere. I am team Lucas and Brad all the way. It’s not just the chemistry, I like the idea that these guys are something of kindred spirits. I do hope Felix finds happiness and I think Marc is an awesome dude, but the writers need to stop making the character live through others and start living his own life. Just my two cents.
I watch GH for escapism, and on that front I’m never disappointed. I absolutely love the character of Felix, and I’m patiently waiting for the powers that be to give him a strong love interest because he deserves it. Those scenes with Milo were flawless and just reminded me why I think we all deserve a friend as cool as Felix. Please writers give Felix someone worthy. He deserves to be someone’s only choice, not second choice like he was with both Lucas and Brad.
I’m really surprised that Felix seems to be an unpopular character among many GH fans. I love him. It may be boring to some but it makes sense for the character to be waiting for “Mr. Right” IMO. Felix is Southern and he hasn’t been out for very long. Unlike Lucas and Brad, he is not comfortable sleeping around. I like that about him. I also enjoy seeing his friendships with Sabrina and Carly. I hope Felix finds love soon and that he is a part of GH for a long time to come.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn
Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd. As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn. At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Bryne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Bryne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nikolas Gets an Earful from Ava About Sonny and His Meds; Nina and Drew Can’t Seem to Resist Each Other
Ava (Maura West) seems to feel she has a confidante in a jailed Nikolas (Adam Huss) on the Monday, April 29th episode of General Hospital. In story, Ava heads to Pentonville to visit her ex-husband before he is set to get transferred out of state.
When discussing her living relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard), which Nikolas already knew about, Ava says she is happy about how her relationship with Sonny has been evolving, Nikolas ask if she’s in love with Sonny. Ava denies it, but goes on to say how great it is for her daughter, Avery to be living with both her parents, who are on the same side and not at odds.
Nikolas believes that Ava loves being in Sonny’s inner sanctum and the power that comes with it. Ava fires back that she spent years looking in from the outside and that everyone despised her. When Nikolas brings up Nina (Cynthia Watros), she says Nina never really could understand the true type of man that Sonny is.

Then, Ava launches in on Carly (Laura Wright), and how she would love to stick it to her, for all the times she blocked Ava from seeing her child and Carly’s attitude towards her. Then, Ava admits to Nikolas that she knows that Sonny has a watered-down version of his bipolar medication, which is making him more vulnerable and she’s capitalizing on it for her own gain. She says she needs to figure out who is responsible, but Nikolas voices concern for Ava’s plan and that if Sonny ever found out she knew about it and did nothing, he would be on the warpath against her. Ava promises she knows what she’s doing. When she says goodbye to Nikolas, he looks upset and sad, as he still seemingly cares for Ava.

Meanwhile in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) office, Nina walks in complaining about Carly giving her a hard time about maintenance in her office. Nina wants payback for Jason (Steve Burton) buying Carly the hotel, but Drew is not up for playing games with her. She says they both want revenge on Jason and Carly, which Drew denies. Next thing you know, Nina grabs Drew and kisses him. Although, it seems he might walk out the door and away from her, he locks it, and the two proceed to have round 2 of their hate-sex.

Elsewhere, Anna tells Jason about her shooting Charlotte and her concern about Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) involvement with Pikeman. Meanwhile, Valentin visits Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) in Pentonville, where threats are laid out to make Sonny look like the guilty party in eliminating Jason, while Anna is the line of fire, if she doesn’t keep her nose out of Pikeman business, which worries Valentin, who doesn’t want Anna getting hurt in any of this.

Haley Pullos Receives 90-Day Jail Sentence Following DUI Charge And Wrong-Way Car Crash
Former General Hospital actress, Haley Pullos (ex-Molly Lansing-Davis) is going to be doing time in jail, exactly one-year after her arrest from a hit and run wrong-way car collision.
The crash resulted in bodily harm and damages to the other driver, and now Pullos who pleaded “no contest” to the charges and will serve 90 days in jail. She was taken in custody on Monday, April 29th, after the ruling.
According to Haley’s attorney, Mark Daniel Melnick, the 25-year-old actress struck a plea deal and after her three months in jail will be sentenced on July 29th. As part of that sentencing, she must serve five years probation, 200 hours of community service and pay $8,260 in restitution to Courteney Wilder, the other driver in the crash and her driver’s license is revoked for a year.

According to TMZ, the plea deal for Pullos has the “no contest” to one DUI, while the judge dropped the felony DUI causing bodily injury and misdemeanor hit and run charges.
Melnick said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Haley is very grateful to the court for a minimum sentence and for recognizing her remorse and the strides she has made in her sobriety.”
Pullos had played the daughter of Alexis Davis (played by Nancy Lee Grahn) on the ABC soap opera since 2009, but after her car crash and DUI she was replaced by three different actresses until the show finally settled on the current Molly, Kristen Vaganos.

Back in April 29 of 2023, and at the scene of the crash, the police found edibles and mini-bottles of tequila in Pullos’ vehicle and that she was intoxicated. As it turned out, this was to be the second hit and run in the evening for Pullos who had an earlier collision with another car.
The courts decision follows a year-long legal battle with Haley’s pleas changing throughout it, ranging from “not guilty” to “no contest”. She sought treatment for her drinking at a rehab following the crash.
Nancy Lee Grahn, who portrayed Pullos’ on-screen mom took to X on Monday night, April 29th and shared on the sentence and the specific jail, Haley will be serving time: “As Haley’s TV mom I can tell some truths about her as I’ve loved her since she was little girl. She made a HUGE mistake, knows it, owns it & has spent the last yr doing EVERYTHING imaginable to take responsibility 4 it. It’s not that I oppose jail. It’s that I oppose this jail.” The jail in question by Grahn is the L.A. county jail.
