GH’s Brook Kerr and Tabyana Ali Talk On: Trina’s Trial, Spencer and Rory, And Their On-Screen Mother/Daughter Relationship
Currently, General Hospital fans are awaiting the verdict in Trina’s trial and just what lengths her mother will go to in order to secure her freedom! With the story playing out on-air, Michael Farman chatted in a new virtual interview with the two women central to the story; Brook Kerr (Portia) and Tabyana Ali (Trina).
As viewers know, Trina was set-up by Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), to make it appear that she taped her best friends, Cameron (William Lipton) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) having sex, and then posted the video from her phone, so it went viral.

During the conversation for You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Tabyana and Brook weigh-in on what’s gone down at the trial including; how Spencer Cassadine came forward with an alibi for Trina, plus how Portia may put her medical career at risk if she brings Esme’s partner in crime, Oz, out of his coma to get the evidence they need to point the finger on Esme.
In addition, Tabyana and Brook share their thoughts on the men in Trina’s life: Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse), and how the #Sprina has a life of its own on social media.

Brook also shares dishes on Portia’s romantic relationship with Curtis (Donnell Turner), plus the recent noteworthy scenes between Portia and Stella (Vernee Watson), where GH shed light on a mother’s concern; that racial injustice could factor in to the jury’s decision in Trina’s case.

Photo: ABC
Tabyana also discusses working alongside GH co-stars, Maura West (Ava) and Carolyn Hennesy (Diane), and what it was like taking over the role of Trina from popular fan favorite, Sydney Mikayla.

Check out the full chat with Brook and Tabyana below.
Do you want Trina to end up with Spencer or Rory? (You can also cast your vote in our poll below!) Will the jury exonerate Trina? What was your favorite part of the conversation with Brook and Tabyana? Let us know in the comment section.
This was such a great interview!!!!!
While I wish Sidney was still playing Trina I do think Tabyana is doing a great job with the role.
I really hope they don’t turn Rory into a shady character – it is something that soaps often do when they want us to root for a particular couple, in this case Spencer and Trina (Sprina) – but for me Rory is the better choice for her and Spencer needs someone new.
I do have a concern that the verdict will be ‘guilty’ and that Spencer and Trina will be in prison at the same time ): Here’s hoping the verdict is ‘not guilty’ though!
I particularly loved how they talked about their co-stars, such as Maura West, Vernee Watson, Donnell Turner, Nicholas Chavez… (: (: (:
Hey, Richard—-I ‘ve had that same thought since day one of Rory’s introduction. I can’t form a clear opinion yet. So, I won’t jump into any speculation at this point. We shall see.
I am still very interested in Esme’s outcome—would it not be ironic is she were indeed to be found in the south of France?!
Rory is an unnecessary character played by a bland actor. When you couple that with the vivacious and intense Spencer, Rory becomes background.
There has to be a purpose for the Rory character, and I’m not buying that he’s just a do-gooder rookie cop meant to come between Trina & Spencer.
Still say he’s a relative of one of Sonny’s old mob rival families, planted in the PCPD. Either an Alcazar or Rivera, most likely.
Better yet Sonny and Brenda’s son maybe?
Brenda only has one kid, and that was from Teddy Balkan’s dead son, if a Devil remembers correctly. If Rory was to be Sonny’s kid, about the only way they could pull that off is to say that he was Lily’s kid and they both somehow survived the infamous “clink boom” limo explosion.
Now of course, that was one of the most epic GH scenes ever, and they’re so fond of it that they have copied it themselves twice (most recently at the Carly & Jason wedding) so it’s not likely they’re going to throw that away at this point. Not to mention all the Ghost Lily scenes that were shown afterwards, including a Sonny “near death experience” where he meets Lily up in Heaven and she tells him how happy she & their son are upstairs.
This show seems to be in an early 1990s recycle mode right now with all the “Dominique” stuff, so in that sense, a Lily reference probably wouldn’t be far behind. But I still think it’s more likely that he’s Lorenzo Alcazar’s kid. Remember that we never saw Jason kill Alcazar, and I think they left that “ambiguous” on purpose. Later on, there was some evidence that he was alive and well somewhere in South America, as Spinelli found out that somebody was accessing his bank accounts from there. My theory is that Jason let Alcazar go, for the benefit of his “sister” Skye Chandler-Quartermaine (whatever name she was using at the time) and the deal was that Alcazar would live, as long as he promised to never set foot in Port Charles again, and never contact Skye or their kid Lila Rae.
So the timing of Rory’s arrival in Port Charles is no coincidence. Alcazar surely would have heard about Jason’s most recent alleged “death” and planted his son in the PCPD to determine whether it’s “safe” for him to come back to town. And perhaps he planted somebody in Sonny’s organization as well? Like “Dex”. And the real story there might be that Alcazar found a way to turn one of Sonny’s own children against him, because it’s looking likely to me that “Dex” is really Morgan Corinthos with a case of “Port Charles Amnesia & Plastic Surgery Syndrome”. You may remember that Alcazar was interfering in Sonny & Carly’s life right around the time Morgan was born, and in fact was the reason that Carly was accidentally shot in the head while giving birth to him!
Of course I could always be 666% wrong about all of this, but I doubt the current writers could come up with a better story than the one I just did.
Absolutey, Satan—there is something about Rory that really bugs me—he just happens to be right there at the opportune time—Too creepy, and too good to be true. I’m not familiar with either Alcazar or Rivera—but what you propose makes a lot of sense. Are all the men from these mob families ( on GH) tiny?
I can see Rory and nuTrina as a couple. I definitely do not see her with Spencer. Nope!! Let’s introduce a new girl. Too bad Esme is/was such a badass, psycho—
I agree it’s something about Rory that bothers me. He shows up when Trina was arrested and instantly navigated towards her. This relationship is moving too fast. I do not want to see Trina hurt.
Hi. Lucy—-For some reason I smell a rat—-Rory is definitely a nice guy—but….
He’s either in PC for nefarious reasons or he served as Spencer’s foil, to create friction between Trina and Spencer ( which does not bother me in the least), or as indicated by Satan, put there by badfies.
I absolutely love Rory and do not find him in the least bit “bland”! The actor is terrific in his role too. I am rooting for Rory and Trina and believe that Spencer needs someone new.
Richard w griffin
I absolutely agree with you. Nothing bland about this boy! I just hope he doesn’t turn into a “plant” as Satan suggests.
Normally I would agree, Harry. But this (so far) sweet young man has won me over. It’s such a relief, especially after Esme and Nikokas’ disgusting little romp, to see a genuinely nice character. Yes, I think there’s a story there and, yes, Nicholas Chavez is such a dynamic spellcaster that Rory may seem dull by comparison. But I’m gonna stick with him for now. We may have some pleasant surprises coming our way!
Soaphound
So nice that you agree with me. I love Rory and will be very upset if he turns out other than the sweet guy he’s portraying now.I’m also disgusted with Nickolas and his whole persona, is that the right word? If I was Ava I’d have dumped him a long time ago no matter who/what he was doing. He’s such a loser. Just because they changed actors, they didn’t have to change his whole character.
Has anyone else noticed that this trial has gone on longer than the OJ trial!
Yes, Timmm, I’ve noticed. Boy, have I noticed! I keep thinking I see the judge doing a crossword puzzle. And last week, I was surprised that the “unexpected” witness was Spencer…I was half expecting Kato Kaelin to stroll in.
Ha ha ha, thats funny! And look at her legal team, it is tops! Trina has Curtis, Nicholas, Sonny, Portia and Rory in her corner. Damn what could go wrong? You know she will still take the fall. Her and Nicholas will be at Pentonville together. Awww! Cory is a bit wooden but the rest involved in the story are good. Having said that, its time to wrap this story up!
Timmm
Don’t you mean Trina and Spencer will be in prison together? Spencer give up his lousy Uncle for helping him get out to go to the cemetery that day.
Thanks Violet, yes Spencer and Trina in jail. Nicholas will has his hands filled with Victor. I just love Charles Shaughnessy’s portrayal of Victor. And I hope he puts Nicholas through the ringer. I dont care for Nick. I havent seen anything good in that character since he was with Emily! [Natalia Livingston]
Hellooo, Timmmy—long time no see, my love!! WOW!! Miss the good ole days–you, Shay and I—remember when….?
Ok –so, I know many will vehemently disagree with me, but I am not digesting nuTrina well—I honestly can’t explain it. I am trying really hard to like her—I remember feeling the same way about nuNina, whom I looked upon as an interloper. That is, she could not walk in Michelle Stafford’s shoes, in my eyes.
Now, I’m completely taken by her.
Stay safe—Ciao❤️
Too long C! I miss the good old days, fore sure. Time goes by but you and I are still riding down the same road! 100 percent agree with you on your opinion of the new Trina. She doesnt have the energy and glow that made her and Spencer a good couple. This new girl can act but she has no chemistry with Spencer or Rory. And Rory, to wooden. He needs to have a bit more experience before he gets into a role on a soap. And Nina, spot on, Michelle is Nina BUT I am so glad she is on Y&R playing Phyliss. She is the ONLY actress who can play Phyliss! Do you think if Michelle would have stayed on GH that her and Maurice would have had good chemistry? And speaking of Sonny, Chet has to go! He makes Steve Burton look like Marlon Brando! [I miss Steve]
TCB,
Timmm
Yes!! NuTrina emanates neither spark nor sparkle —perhaps she’s still green? And, Rory? He seems a little too old and mature for these barely-out-of-High School-kids.
More than that, though, T—there”s a tiny hint of something sinister about him. My imagination? Maybe—but, it I’m right, he’s a pretty good actor for demonstrating that quality.
We all want for character we love to remain on screen forever—but, sadly, in life, nothing lasts forever–I have the Momday morning blues!! LOL
Cuao, my love!!❤️
Celia, I’m ambivalent here. I don’t mind nuTrina but the original Trina was unique. She had a fire and a conscience that the new one doesn’t seem to have the energy for. That said, she meshes with Rory much better than Spencer. NuTrina and Spencer would look like Mutt and Jeff, just no spark. And I am SO TIRED of Carly’s self-righteous anti-Nina screed. Someone needs to toss her in the shallow end of that cheesy pool!
Everything you said, Soaphound–the original Trina had that certain je-ne-sais-quoi thing going. In your face, without regret—that’s moi. You bite me? I’ll bite you back a million times more, with words—I may be petite, but I don’t cower!! Ergo, that’s what I believe made her unique.
Spencer!! Ahh, Spencer!! If I were only ten years younger!!–. HaHa!!
Seriously, I am truly into his acting and his persona. He is so alive, no matter the scene or situation. And, he is so sexy–I bet he doesn’t even realize it. And, that is exactly what gives him the allure.
Carly? The purest of queens? Didn’t she shoot someone in the head? LOL. She is the perfect symbol of holier-than-thou. You don’t want to know my grandmother’s adjectives. Double LOL.
I’m right with you on Spencer, Celia. Only I’d have to turn the clock back to the 80s to be in his ballpark. Even watching him THINK is sexy. Chase is still my favorite heartthrob but I’m glad to have them both, since they’ve ruined Nikolas for me. Esme? Really? Did he delouse afterward? I wanted to myself!
Yeah–Chase is Adonis reincarnate—but, Spencer is the quiet, pensive and brooding Romeo and his unrequited love for Giulietta!!
You’re too funny—Esme was a parasite, but i assume Avery is versitile—had she been introduced as a good girl with sass, she would have made a better match for Spencer—NuTrina is simply a garden variety of “good” girls.
Stepping out a bit, Soaphound—but there’s no other site to post this.
Who do you think stabbed Ava? I think it was Esme..
Anyone interested in Michael Blake Kruse who plays Rory can Google and find a whole lot of photos of him, his beautiful wife and baby girl. I was very surprised at his extensive background and experience before GH. I thought he looked a little mature for Trina who’s supposed to be 18-19, right? Well he is 32.
So glad he’s going to Chicago P.D if only just to visit. I hope he’ll stay and take over Jay’s part who will be leaving. Good news to he and his family with new baby coming.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI
FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
