Julie Chen To Step Down From ‘The Talk’

As of Monday night, the only hosting gig that Julie Chen has resumed since her husband, Les Moonves was ousted as CBS Chairman is Big Brother on CBS.

Chen had yet to return to her seat at the table as the anchor of the Daytime Emmy Award-winning series, The Talk.

Moonves has been accused of sexual misconduct with new allegations surfacing in the New Yorker as recent as just the other week.

Tonight, Page Six is reporting that Julie is walking away from The Talk and will resign.

CNN is also reporting that Chen has made the decision and it is effective immediately and that she will address her decision through a videotaped message to viewers on Tuesday’s episode of The Talk

The competition in the daytime talk space, the ladies of The View, voiced that they think there is no way for Chen to return to the panel of The Talk, especially since the CBS series addresses the hot social topics of the day and the #MeToo movement which is so much of our culture these days,

The only statement Chen has made on the new allegations against Moonves, is that she is standing by him when she signed off on a recent episode of Big Brother saying:  “I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Good Night.”

So, do you think Julie stepping down from The Talk is the right choice?  Is she in no-win situation? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I think she’s in a no-win situation, I respect her decision to stand by her husband, but she will be truly missed on “The Tslk” Be well Julie

Now, leave completely

I had a feeling that Julie Chen Moonves was leaving the talk, please hire Connie Chung to replace Julie. She would be terrific on The Talk.

Now that’s a great idea! I’d watch if she came on. She’s spicy and funny.

Connie is too old. I mean, I don’t think so, but the network won’t hire a new person who is 72 years old!

Regardless of her decision to stay/stand
by her husband, that remains completely personal… However hosting a daily talk show… while referencing “hot topics” including her not yet future husbands
alleged misconduct would be incredibly
UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least.

Another woman having to step done from her career due to allegations (not yet proven) against her spouse. Would a man/spouse have to, need to? Just saying

CBS didnt force her to step down. It was her choice!

Yes it is the right decision

I think her stepping down from The Talk is a terrible idea!

No she should stay on The Talk….her personal life should not be aired on TV….the Me Too movement is a difficult topic now days but I believe it needs to be toned down some….it is getting out of hand..there are plenty of other subjects to discuss

She airs everyone’s personal life on The Talk. I watched a few of these shows at night OnDemand but she’s the main “host.” It’s HER that brings up the hot topics (is that what it’s called?) and airs everyone’s dirty laundry. If this story involved another wife she and the others would be all over it.

Heard she was difficult to work with and pulled rank because of her husband’s title which is why several of the other women were fired.

Good riddance! She brought nothing to the table.

It’s a shame she has to leave her job, but it’s her decision.

This is not her fight. Anyone who would hold her responsible for her husband’s alleged actions should walk in her shoes before commenting. Remember, we are only accountable for our own action and those are the only ones we can control. i would hope she comes back to The Talk. I truly liked her in that role. Best Wishes to her, whatever her choice.

If he is guilty on the charges against him, then I hope he realizes what his wandering eye did to someone who had nothing to do with this. If he’s innocent, God only knows what will happen next. This is a very real and scary mess.

All of this is so sad !!! Julie is loved very much by her viewers and she should’nt have to pay for what her husband has been accused of but she’s kind of Stuck in the middle and his actions are making Julie the VICTIM !!! We love you Julie and hope you’ll be back !!!! NO SHAME TO HAVE ON YOUR BEHALF !!!

No I don’t think Julie should leave the talk. She is the reason I watch that show. She is a strong woman and she can get through this. She shouldn’t be asked to leave the show because of her husband. She has done nothing wrong. So not punish her for what her husband has done. I know it won’t matter to you or the show but if Julie isn’t going to be there I won’t watch anymore.

There’s nobody I know who hasn’t at some point in their life that hasn’t done something inappropriate! I’m so weary of it all. If you did something younger or once it does not mean it’s who you are today. It also doesn’t mean it’s accurate or the other person was not encouraging the behavior. I don’t really think every story has a victim … I think much is for publicity or to ruin somrond’s life! I think she should stand tall and stay in her job as chair host! Otherwise, she is a me,too victim and she’s much too smart and strong for that!

Y-E-S!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! SAYONARA!!!!!

I will never watch the talk again. Julie can’t be replaced. Besides Sharon Osborn she is the only reason I watch.

Good. You are better than those back stabbing “Co-Workers” anyway! I believe she will also walk away from BB after the finale of season 20. She was good. I will miss her.

People are always saying marriage is forever the good the bad and all
In between so looks like she is trying to stand by her
Vows in standing by her man…. hope she won’t
Leave big brother it wouldn’t be the same

Julie Chen probably knows her husband very differently than his accusers, and perhaps, has never seen him act inappropriately, or heard him even say anything derogatory about women. What a difficult spot to be in. She has a family with this man. Perhaps she loves him. They certainly have a nice life. That’s a lot to just up and walk away from when there is so much that is unknown, and that happened before her time with him. She knew that her decision would create a great deal of backlash personally and career-wise, and that takes a lot of courage, IMO. While I am not a big fan of hers, or The Talk, or Big Brother, I feel badly for her and her child. Of course you/we want to believe those that speak out against perpetrators in the #METOO movement, but, sometimes, it’s hard. Many of these allegations happened decades ago, no proof, and once one woman comes out, then a handful speaks up, then dozens. As a woman, I have been forcibly kissed, groped, etc. Although, Les Moonves abused his position of power and did much worse than that. My point is, is that I never thought of those “incidents” as much of anything. Now, if I was brutally attacked, that, I think is a different situation. I know that I may receive an onslaught of attack for this, but I think that some of the allegations these days (not referencing Les Moonves here) takes away from those woman who have been viciously attacked, and who do not have a voice or platform to stand on. Many times, these women are “ignored” by the police or their cases are “forgotten” about, because new cases open every day.

I think it is appropriate for Julie Chen to step down from “The Talk.” Even if she hadn’t been implicated in using her job to help Les Moonves destroy Janet Jackson’s career, the opening portion of “The Talk” is all about the hosts discussing current events. Right now, the #MeToo/Time’s Up movement is at the heart of entertainment and political news. I can’t imagine Julie would feel comfortable in future conversations about sexual harassment or sexual assault — or more importantly, that anyone else would feel comfortable discussing their own or someone else’s trauma around her. So it seems like it’s mutually beneficial for “The Talk” and Julie Chen to part ways at this point.

Inevitable.

I don’t think Julie has much choice simce she spoke out in belief of her husband’s innocence. Another stand by your man situation. I’m sorry that their son has to weather this controversy with his parents.

Hell if the view can stay on TV with trash talking women, she should be able to breeze right on thru with no problem, the view needs to go and Julie Chen needs to stay right where she’s at,if that’s what she wants

There is so much that can be said on Julie’s situation. I think her leaving The Talk, is the best thing for her, but not so much for her fans, who will miss her. I know she’s being condemned by many, some of which are commenters on this blog, but until you’ve walked in her shoes, try not to be too harsh. It’s not all black and white, but many shades of grey. I hope you will keep an open mind.

Amen Violet! Besides her supporting her husband, these people that are throwing Julie into the fire, she has a young child she is trying to protect, as well.

Professional exit

No great loss far as I’m concerned. Of course I don’t watch “The Talk” but Julie was one of the reasons I didn’t. She and Sheryl Underwood were/are the worst!

The talk will not be the same show. I wish her all the best. The women on the talk Sure didn’t stand by her. Women are women who don’t stand up for one another.. Just so sad.

Can they bring back Leah Remini and Holly Robinson now? I miss those two.

Julie Chen should return to “the Talk Show”. I like Julie Chen, she is really good. Since she left the show, I stopped watching it.
