Kate Middleton To Visit The Set Of Downton Abbey!

There was some soapy news out of Buckingham Palace late this week, when official word got out that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is set for a visit to the set of Downton Abbey on March 12th!

Kate, who is a big fan of the series, will not be traveling to Highclere Castle where the beautiful exterior shots are filmed, but instead she will be visiting Ealing Studios in West London where the downstairs servants’ scenes are set.

According to PEOPLE:Kate will watch one take of a scene set among the servants, and then will head to the ‘video village’, where she will watch as the producers watch the scene played back.”

Kate will happen upon the action that is being taped for season six of the hit British series.  However, Palace sources can’t say yet which actors will be taking part in the scene that Kate, who is around eight months pregnant, will see. But series stars including: Dame Maggie Smith  (Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham) and Elizabeth McGovern (Cora, Countess of Grantham) are currently filming the show’s sixth season.

When Kate arrives to the set, she will be met by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, and shown around the studio.  Later, she will join a reception, where she’ll chat with cast members, writers, and producers.

What do you think of Kate’s upcoming visit to Downton Abbey? Wouldn’t it be fun to see her mingle with the Dowager Countess and the gang?   Comment below!

I’m sure it’s against protocol; but, it would be a kick to see her do a walk on in a scene with the Dowager Countess.

A show with the international prestige of “Downton Abbey” deserves no less than a visit from the Queen herself! I would love to see a meeting of “Her Majesty” with Grantham’s regal grand dame, the Dowager Countess Violet, aka “Dame Maggie!” Now THAT would be a real royal reception!
