‘EastSiders’ Launches Kickstarter Campaign For Its Fourth and Final Season!

The LGBTQ hit web series, EastSiders is prepping to begin production to film their final season,  And as series star, creator and executive producer, Kit Williamson reveal,s along with his real-life partner, and co-EP of the series and cast member, John Halbach, the final season will pick-up in the days before Douglas (William Belli) and Quincy’s (Stephen Guarino) wedding, where nothing is going as planned.

EastSiders stars Williamson and ATWT favorite, Van Hansis as the beleaguered couple Cal and Thom, who have suffered their share of emotional setbacks throughout their relationship history.  Having traveled the country in a van back to Los Angeles at the end of season three, they are also trying to make their way back to each other. Season four will tackle: what does commitment really look like in a long term relationship? What does “gay marriage” really mean? And how do two human beings make love last?

In order to help EastSiders bring their final installments to life, they have launched another kickstarter campaign to raise funds to help them produce the series. As they note in their campaign: “Although the series is streaming on Netflix worldwide, we’re still a completely independent production. We have a partner in place to help cover post production costs, but we still have to raise our production budget by October 11 or we won’t be able to film this fall. $100,000 will allow us to produce a 4 episode season, and we have some exciting stretch goals planned if we pass our goal!”

Watch the Kickstarter campaign video from Kit and John below, and then let us know if you are exciting to see how it all resolves for the characters in the final season of the series via the comment section below.

EastSiders Season 3 Starring Van Hansis and Kit Williamson Kickstarter Campaign Underway!

EastSiders is on its way back for season three, which is great news since the LGBT series starring former As the World Turns star Van Hasis (Ex-Luke) as Thom and creator/writer/producer Kit Williamson as Cal.

Over the last few seasons, the funny, poignant, and extremely well-written series tells the tale of a couple who go through the struggles of their relationship while living in Silver Lake, California.

With many twist and turns and featuring a supporting cast that includes: Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat)Brianna Brown (General Hospital, Devious Maids, the upcoming Dynasty), Stephen Guarino (Happy Endings, I’m Dying Up Here), Willam Beli (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Nip/Tuck) Traci Lords (Crybaby, Zach and Miri Make a Porno), Matthew McKelligon (You’re Killing Me), Jonathan Lisecki (Gayby) and John Halbach (Producer, EastSiders), the series third season looks to be one of its most intriguing yet.

This time Thom and Cal (Hansis and Williamson) end up on the great American road trip after moving from L.A. to the Big Apple and then trying to get back home! The journey home to Silver Lake was shot on-location in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and  California over 35 days last fall.

The production has now launched their Kicktstarter campaign to finish up the series and is hoping for some funding for additional shoot days, and post-production costs. The campaign is set to run until June 6th, by which time the producers must have attained their goal of $60,000, or if you contribute and they have not met their goal, it is refunded. (more…)

Van Hansis and Tyler Hanes Talk Celebrating Pride, CATS & Their Relationship!

Photo: VHansisInstagram

June was a good month for former As the World Turns star, Van Hansis (Ex-Luke Snyder).  First, he was named the winner for Best Actor in a Feature Film in the Audience Awards at the just completed San Diego LGBT Film Festival.  Van won for his performance in the motion picture Kiss Me, Kill Me.

Hansis, who most recently was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his performance in the digital series, EastSiders, is in New York City this weekend celebrating Pride with is partner of 9 years, Broadway-bound star, Tyler Hanes.  In a wonderful interview with Playbill.com, the duo discuss: their relationship, Hanes upcoming turn in the revival of Cats on Broadway as Rum-Tum-Tugger, and Pride weekend in New York City in light of the tragic events in Orlando a few weeks ago.

When asked what the duo had planned for Sunday’s Pride festivities, Van answered: “We haven’t discussed what we’re doing for Pride yet, but I think it’s really important to stay out there and keep fighting and to not let something like this terrible tragedy stop the celebration and the ownership of how far we’ve all come. It’s very telling that even though gay marriage passed across the country and things have changed so much for the positive, there’s still this underlying homophobia. You’ve got to stay angry, and you’ve got to stay vigilant. You have to ask for more than just moments of silence and prayers at times like this.” (more…)
